That's all I have for today.
I am in shock and wondering how I survive.

hoping that the worst of this falls only on his voters but of course it doesn't work that way.

I am in shock and have fear not only for you in the US, but also for the security and future of Europe. With orange man in Putin’s pocket and his threat to pull out of NATO, things could get very bleak in Ukraine and beyond.

One of my first thoughts was Ukraine has until January. Then he starts to sell our parts off to the highest bidder. How we got here I will never understand.

I expected him to win - hoped he wouldn't. I definitely didn't expect the results to be this bad. I was determined to be prepared for today if he won so I'm not as distraught as 2016. However, it's a lot easier to see what is coming because unlike half the country I remember his first term. With a term limit, likely both chambers being Republican, the Supreme Court handing him almost unchecked power, a non-sensical economic and deportation planned sure to send us into a recession, and likely no one in Washington willing to be a voice of reason, the future is surely frightening.

Unbelievable that the majority voted for an almost 80 year old felon with dementia. What happened to this country? Do people not remember the 4 years he was President, I certainly do

I cannot post the words I want to say. I will just put it here instead of my social pages: you reap what you sow.
I work at a church and decided last night that after the Christmas choir concert, I will be stepping back from attendance. Today is the day a small group attend a noon prayer meeting. God help the first person that says something to me.
I worry about my daughter and my niece.

I’m just sick about this. (Understatement of the millennium).
I know I’ll be okay - white, homeowner, good job etc. but I’ve never been okay with the “get mine, screw everyone else” attitude. This is going to be a terrible 4 years.
BUT maybe this is what the country needs to wake the f**k up. There’s no reasoning with his followers but when they start to suffer or get poorer, whatever, maybe we can climb out of this hole in four years.
Jesus that feels like a lifetime.

BUT maybe this is what the country needs to wake the f**k up. The didn't happen last time, and I have zero faith it'll happen this time. They will always blame it on something else. I wish it was different. Beside you might not get to vote again...

So many concerns I can't even type

For years the world has asked, "How did Hitler happen?" --now we are seeing it in real time.
Besides being an awful human (is he human?), if he is removed from office, we get Vance.

This has just appeared on my FB feed. It's apparently a Turkish proverb and very true, given the circumstances:
“When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become a king, the palace becomes a circus.”

I am petty enough that I will take a few years of pain if it means his followers do too (not that I have a choice it's coming). I still can't believe the Pro Palestine protest vote or the people who voted that see Trump as Pro Israel.

Oh my. I get the feeling that it doesn’t matter who we would have run it would have ended this way. What a scary place we are in. I’m very worried about Social Security, Medicare, and the ACÁ.

Just the thought that he could put two more justices on the SCOTUS cementing a right leaning court for my kid’s lifetime is frightening as hell.

horrified. disgusted with my fellow Americans. disillusioned as to how very little people think of a woman's ability to lead. Choosing *THAT* over her? In large part it HAS to be because she's a woman, doesn't it?!? What does that say about Americans if it is? What does it say about Americans if it isn't?!? Either way... nauseated and horrified. Do people not remember the 4 years he was President, were none of them watching any of his personal appearances?!?!? He couldn't string three words together coherently!!!!!

I believe this is the beginning of the end of our democracy. Hubby and I will be having real conversations in the coming days about how we can get out. The biggest obstacle is our house. We already have a meeting scheduled with our financial planner; discussions about minimizing our exposure in the stock market will certainly be happening.

What does that say about Americans if it is? I think it is a combination of misogyny and racism. But yes, definitely there are too many people - sadly many women as well - who don't want a woman to be president. Some of it the completely misguided radical fundamental 'Christians', with their misreading of scriptures about the roles of men and women, some of it is a longing for a past utopia that never really existed, and some is that they have found someone that enables them to be as hateful out loud as they always have been in their minds.

I went to bed oblivious, and woke up to this? My first thought was he cheated. I can't believe that many American's listened to that pile of crap and voted for him. I hope you are a white Christian dude America because otherwise... Great job, America

All any here remember is that gas was cheaper. Yeah, gas was cheaper. Because we were in the middle of a pandemic, and no one was going anywhere!!! Also, they are so insular, that they have no idea that fuel and grocery prices are rising all over the world - it's nothing to do with the US president, but more to the wars raging in Ukraine and the middle east. Oh, and US gas prices are still incredibly low, compared to what we're paying in Europe.

Sadly, I think I am going to have to do a 'turtle' for quite a while until my horror turns to numbness... immerse myself in my sewing, x-stitching, read a LOT of books, and do very little - if any - social media reading/watching. The first 4 years were bad enough for me, and my relationship with my DH. I know that's not the best way to handle it, but mental health survival and all...

For years the world has asked, "How did Hitler happen?" --now we are seeing it in real time. The National Holocaust museum has a section about Hitler's rise to power and damned if we aren't trying to repeat it here. I've been to the National Socialism Documentation Centre here in Munich and the Nazi Rally Grounds Documentation Centre in Nürnberg several times each. Both look at the rise of Nazism through documents and photos from that era. It has been so obvious from the outside, looking in, what was happening with the MAGA campaign.
