I have a few years of albums like this where I'd do a double page layout, mostly 8x8 but I also have an entire year in a 6x8 FJ album. It is much more low stress, I just chose my favourite photos at the end of each month and then wrote some journaling covering whatever was in the photos and anything else I wanted to include. In months where there was one big event, I occasionally would use just photos from that event but journal about the whole month, sometimes I'd just pick my very favourite event photo and mix it in with the other everyday shots. Ohhh I really like the 6x8 album idea and just doing a highlights reel!

I still like the DK kit with the exception of the crappy stamps. They are basically unusable and truth be told, I'd rather have more 4x6 cards than that stamp. Not sure if I'll continue after December (when my sub is up) but I do find this kit more effective in helping me get my PL spreads done.

And I do get my spreads done fairly quickly each month. Decisions, decisions.

I like the September DK! Great colors for a transition to fall. I canceled my skip.
And a heads up! The add-ins that were in my sub box from last month, that I received with last month’s kit, were still in this month’s box! I had to remove them. Might want to check yours.

I like this months a lot, actually! The colors and patterns remind me of sheets my grandma used to have.

Really like the Hocus Pocus kit and wishing they offered digitals.
Hoping there’ll be an applicable discount code sometime soon, even if it’s after the holiday.

I've been playing around with some of the SC 3x4 stamps to see of I can get a better stamped image. I ended up buying the "currently reading" set and the stamps felt suspiciously like the ones included in the kits. Normally I stamp with Distress oxides because I love the colors but the image was all splotchy. So I tried Gina K's black ink and the image was crisp and clean, same with SB.com ink and AEs ink. Now I'm wondering if my stamp issues have been all about the ink. I've never had an issue with oxides and AEs other stamps, just since SC changed the 3x4 stamping material. Now I'm wondering if I need to use different ink.

Now I'm wondering if my stamp issues have been all about the ink. I've never had an issue with oxides and AEs other stamps, just since SC changed the 3x4 stamping material. Now I'm wondering if I need to use different ink. I don’t have that reading kit, so I’m not sure what that stamp quality is like. If they are cheaping out on the special release kits in addition to the sub kits, ughhhhhhhh! 😖 Most of my inks are SC dye ink pads. I rarely use AE unless I’m using clear embossing powder over it. I have some TH oxides, but don’t care for how those stamp at all. I’ll use them as a filler stamp (like the big filler part of an inside image - is there a special name for that?), but they never look great as a crisp outline/detail stamp. When I stamp with the flimsy rubbish SC kit stamps I can only sometimes get a nice result. The material is so squishy and spongey there is really a narrow sweet spot of pressing enough to get the fully image down, but not too much to squash it and blur the edges. 😣 Because of the tendency for these squishy stamps to get blurry edges, I think the uncrisp stamping quality of TH oxide is a double-whammy of poor results. I hate the crappy stamps. When a stamp set is one I already don’t care for (which is most) I don’t care, and it makes it easy to pass on the kits. But when it’s a cute stamp set that I’d actually love to use, but it’s this junky quality that’s basically disposable? BOOOoooooo. (Like the little donut themed one from last spring). 👎🏻

My trick for stamping with crappy stamps is to use embossing ink (Versamark) pad first, lube up the stamp then go over that with your dye inks. Stamp the image. The embossing ink almost asks like glue for the ink. If that makes any sense.

I bought a sanding eraser and go over my stamps very lightly with it. It has helped enormously as it gives them the slightest tooth. I think I got this tip from one of the DD design team last year or the year before.

I'll try the versamark trick and see how that goes. I do wonder about it just being the oxide ink, but it looks like that's all Heidi Swapp stamps with and her images don't seem to be splotchy.

I got the Stamp Kit with the bogo promo they ran last month and they didn’t come with storage sleeves. But the crappy quality 3x4 DK stamp had one. (I do t care about sleeves, but I know they’re popular with others). The stamp kit stopped coming with sleeves about a year ago. I subbed to the BOGO last summer for a year when I was getting back into scraping. I messaged them about it and I should have seen the red flag that they were just an "extra". I ordered some of their sleeves. There were a couple after that didn't fit in their sleeves. SMH. I now have some random sleeves from Amazon that work better and hold my Elle Studio 6x8s as well. I don't add extras 95% of the time. Travel release I did since I do a lot of travel scrap. And that one time they did a big blowout and had 6x8 stamp sets for $10.

When your 3 packs of 6x12 page protectors get mailed in a mailer that is 1" short, why not fold them in half and send them off?? Ugh, really? They fortunately didn't crease (since there were 3 packs, ya know, kinda cushioned each other I guess) yet they have a definite fold that *should* work itself out over time. Still, unnecessary, especially when I paid shipping for them! Was feeling snarky tonight, then I opened these up

After trying the versamark trick it helped a bit with the distress oxides and the new stamps. I played around a bit yesterday and I've come to the conclusion that the new lesser quality stamps in the kits need to be used with certain inks. I've have success with Gina K, SB.com hybrid ink and PinkFresh hybrid ink as well. AEs inks are ok and if you can do the versamark thing the oxides/SU! Inks are passable. The original stamp sets (before they changed the quality) work fine with all types of inks. So while I'm happy to find a bit of a work around, I'm also irritated that I can't use just any color of ink pad I have and have to watch which brands. Just thought I'd share if anyone was still trying to get those stamps to work instead of throwing them out (which I've done in the past)
