Are / have you made plans for the summer?
My dgc is looking forward to a Lego Robotic camp.
I am planning to go to Canada's Maritime provinces.
What are your plans?

We are spending a week in Santa Barbara. We have a couple condo's rented and will spend the week wine tasting, hiking, beaching, a few museums and I who knows what else.
Other than that lots of hiking around here and a few days trips over to the coast.

Not much. Hopefully the contractor guy who said last fall that he would be able to take on our cabin construction project this summer will actually do it.

We are spending a week fly fishing in Eastern WA and a week near San Francisco.
My oldest is spending a week camping with friends. It's his first vacation without us. My youngest has two summer music camps.

not too many plans here - DH is just about out of vacation time (he used it to pay for FMLA time off).
my teen is going to RI for 10 days to stay with my mum - our family tradition is to take a trip the summer you are 16 - her brother went to RI also. My sister and I both went back to England and stayed with relatives there on our trips.
Other than that - hopefully some weekend day-trips/overnights. If my teen gets her license, then we'll get a pool pass and do the summer $1 movies. If not, then we won't (I don't drive).
I'll work with my 9 y/o on some Girl Scout stuff and keep her reading and being read to. The teen is pretty self-entertaining - she'll do Camp Nanowrimo, probably.
Other than that - crafts, exercise, time with friends, cooking/baking (each of the girls will cook one dinner/week - the little one with more supervision/help since this'll be her first summer cooking regularly), we tend towards a pretty quiet, unstructured summer.

We have a long weekend in eastern Washington in July and DS has a few day camps, etc, but that's it for the summer. For a variety of reasons, our vacation is in September this year - 10 days in Hawaii.

My youngest has two summer music camps. That first vacation on their own; a big step in their own independence. Great job mom, roots & wings - let tnem start to soar. Music school camps are so much fun. Have a great summer!

Nothing big here. We're in the process of paying off all our debt so we decided to do a couple of short day trips with the kids instead of something big. The girls are doing soccer camp in July and my mom will probably be coming to visit at some point.

Going home to see my dad and siblings in July. Hoping to get to Myrtle Beach in August. Otherwise we're hanging out at home with lots of swim team meets, ballet intensives, and some working out for me!

Annual trip with our car club. This year we're cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway down to NC then o. The way back we're going to the Virginia Intern'l Raceway so the guys can drive the track. There will also be go-cart races for the guys and girls.
i haven't seen the final itinerary yet but I know our group leader will have plenty of unique places for us to stop at for sightseeing, shopping and eating. He always plans the best trips. Can't wait until next month.

My husband and I plus 2 other couples are renting a beach house for a week in our city. Right on the water! And the best part is that we can run home for random odds and ends if we have to since we will be in our home town!

We're spending a week in Mexico diving with the boys, then the boys are flying to Newfoundland for a month, and DH and I are are heading to Europe for two weeks (London/Paris/Edinburgh/Dublin, with a 4-day whiskey tour thrown in). After the boys get back, my oldest and I head to choir camp (him as a counsellor, me as staff) and DH and my youngest head to Sask. to visit my in-laws.

All with my son: June - Chicago July - Charleston, WV and Pittsburg August - Atlantis (Bahamas) I backed out of a trip to Atlantis in August - it would have made my summer way too hectic. If you're there at any point between the 21st and the 26th, my choir kids will be there.

My husband is taking two weeks of vacation in June, but we haven't decided where we want to go; might be Chicago, but maybe somewhere else. His "work year" starts on July 1 (when he started working there 25 years ago), so he'll get five more weeks starting then. We might do something in July, before I go back to school, or may wait until fall break in October, which is a great time to travel.
I'm going to be doing a bunch of cleaning out, purging, and reorganizing.

What part of Cuba are you planning to go to? I have been to Cuba many times (Canadian) & it is a beautiful country. If possible, go to Dollar Tree & get razors, tampons, mini pads, nail polish & other type of stuff. I also pack clothes that I leave behind. Things like costume jewelry, baby onesies & baby tylenol are also great to bring along. It is great when coming home & not having to wait for your bag & just go through Customs so quickly. I also leave behind my bag (buy at a thrift store) & just have my carry on bag. Have fun with your plans.

We're going to bum around Cape Cod for a bit, spend a weekend camping, hit an amusement park and a few museums, and go on some genealogy "field trips" around the area. We have a list of somewhat nearby towns of genealogical interest to me. We'll hit the internet to find a few other cool things in the area, maybe pack a picnic, and set off. We'll trade back and forth between things for me and things for everyone else. The internet search will be sure that is at least something else to do there, but we also really enjoy just checking out new towns and finding neat things on out own, too. If all else fails, you can almost always find a walking trail, library, park, and/or playground. Plus, a lot of swimming!

I have never been to Rhode Island. Sounds like a great tradition. Teaching a child to cook is a valuable life skill. You go mom! I understand from other posts that you don't drive. Pool passes & movies will provide your child with wonderful memories. The memories don't have to cost a lot of $. Have fun! Rhode Island is beautiful - beaches, history, islands...you should go if you can. It's a tradition that I think is worth continuing - they fly by themselves including a layover, my mum is okay with dropping them off downtown and letting them explore or dropping them at the beach so they get some independence and city skills (buses/walking around/eating out on their own) that isn't easily available here in rural Florida but she'll also take them places (mansion, fort, harbour tour, beach concert etc..) We've done pool passes and the movies in previous summers (my son took the girls - he's stationed overseas now). Hopefully we can manage it - if not, we do other fun stuff in the evenings/weekends instead (when DH is home to drive).

It is so great to visit where you live, knowing that many people spend a lot of money to see what is i your backyard. Check groupon & your Chamber of Commerce for discounts. Paying off debit rather than keeping spending is a great way to teach your children about personal responsibility.
