My husband is taking two weeks of vacation in June, but we haven't decided where we want to go; might be Chicago, but maybe somewhere else. His "work year" starts on July 1 (when he started working there 25 years ago), so he'll en. We might do something in July, before I go back to school, or may wait until fall break in October, which is a great time to travel. I'm going to be doing a bunch of cleaning out, purging, and reorganizing. Chicago is a great city to visit. Walk along Michigan Ave & window shop. Take a lake cruise & find a hidden gem of a place for dinner. October is off season, where do you think of going? Purgeing, cleaning & re organizing is a healthy way to de stress after teaching.

I have a week off of work and school in August. DH and I are planning to sty around and do some projects around the house. We're planning to take a cruise next year, so we figured we'd stay home and invest in the house this year.

We're going to bum around Cape Cod for a bit, spend a weekend camping, hit an amusement park and a few museums, and go on some genealogy "field trips" around the area. We have a list of somewhat nearby towns of genealogical interest to me. We'll hit the internet to find a few other cool things in the area, maybe pack a picnic, and set off. We'll trade back and forth between things for me and things for everyone else. The internet search will be sure that is at least something else to do there, but we also really enjoy just checking out new towns and finding neat things on out own, too. If all else fails, you can almost always find a walking trail, library, park, and/or playground. Plus, a lot of swimming! Enjoy Cape Cod. Hoping to get there at some point in time. Geneology sounds interesting & would be full of adventures. Glad that you are able to mix your interest & the stuff that the other members of your family wants to do. I know my family background on both sides going back many generations. Ha e fun discovering your past.

June: Kenai Peninsula in Alaska for hiking, glaciers, seafood, and wildlife July: Mendocino September: being planned I also have June 2017 already booked with cabins inside Yellowstone Alaska & Mendocino are quite the opposite. Pictures highlighting the 'same but different' contrast would be great visuals. Yellowstone is huge & full of adventures. It has been a long time since I was there. Have a fun summer!

We are going to Florida for 10 days (4 days in St Augustine and the rest in Orlando) toward the beginning of June. Then the end of June we are going to Omaha for the College Baseball World Series St. Augustine has so many beautiful historical buildings. Orlando for the parks? Enjoy the baseball in Omaha. Did you find the hotel accomodation that you were looking for? I hope that the weather will be perfect baseball weather!

Between camping, 4-H activities and dog shows we just do several long weekends throughout the year. We've already done one 4 day camping trip with my parents in February. We did a combo camping trip/dog show this past weekend that was very relaxing. We have a 4 day dog show in August, a 4 day camping trip in September and a week long dog show in October. All of them are in either Washington or Oregon. I also have a 4 day country music festival the first weekend in August in Sweethome Oregon that I go to. I think this is my 11th year Lots of activities planned for you. So glad thst the camping/dog show went well. Country music festivals are so much fun.

We are taking a cruise in the Mediterranean in June. Our youngest was born when we were stationed in Italy, and has the option of declaring dual citizenship when she turns 18 in two years. We wanted to take her to see where she was born before then, so this is mostly for her. DH worked his butt off for six months working a crapton of overtime to be able to do this, so she'd better appreciate it. DH's best friend and BFF's wife are also going, I'm really looking forward to it.

Not much. Hopefully the contractor guy who said last fall that he would be able to take on our cabin construction project this summer will actually do it. Complete construction or addition/renovation? Where is your cabin located? By a lake? It's a long story! It's on a lake in western WI. MIL started the project probably 4-5 years before she died. The basement crawl space was crumbling and the original blocks had already been lined with a second layer once and that couldn't be done again. DH convinced her to have the whole cabin lifted and added a new walkout basement underneath it. The local guy who did that work is notorious for starting a bunch of projects at once for different people, promising everybody the moon and then falling way short. Most of his subcontractors are pretty much farmers who do something else on the side so they will come work on one person's job for a half day and work on someone else's job the next day for a half day so no one's projects get done on time as promised. It's frustrating. Long story short, we never had the stairway put in between the two levels. One of the main reasons was that the whole project was not planned out very well in the first place and there was no good way to do it where we wouldn't lose a bedroom. MIL died before even the main construction was complete, and we bought out his sister's share of the place a year later. Remember when I said MIL started it 4-5 YEARS prior to her dying? Yeah, she's been gone almost five years now. It's been almost ten years torn up like that, and we refuse to hire the local guy again. We also want to redo the bedrooms (moving walls, etc.), but because we were never sure what we were going to do with the stairs we didn't want to spend money fixing something else up to only rip it back out a year or two later. They're currently gutted down to the studs. Spending all that time in a reno-zone is getting really, really old. I'm just praying that the guy we talked to last year can do it.

We have rented a house on Long Beach Island, NJ with a few other family members. We have never done this before, so we will either love it and make it a yearly event or hate each other and never speak again! Ds has been invited on both a camping trip and a beach vacation with my bff and her family and he is attending a weeklong basketball camp at a local college. Trying to round out the rest of the summer for him. He is almost 13 so he is too old for day camp but too young to be left to his own devices all summer! I am hope that your vacation with family goes well. The only way to find out is to try. 13 is a difficult age, too old for the familiar past and not quite old enough (or mature enough) to be on his own. I'm sure that camping/ beach vacation & basketball will be fun. Try to let him have a morning to himself, as he will probably sleep in for most of the time. Good luck!

My DH is taking me to Paris for 8 days as an early 50th birthday gift in June! I am soooo excited! Then in July my parents and my brother and his family are coming here for a week. We will head to Austin after that to get my DS moved into his new apartment and doing some antique hunting in Comfort, Tx. 8 days in Paris, enjoy! Paris is an energetic city. Enjoy the wine, food & culture. Maybe a night river cruise?

Good things can be stressful. Phoenix will be hot, thanks to a/c, there is comfort inside

We have a timeshare to use each year so we try to alternate driving and flying trips each summer. In June my son does British Soccer Camp and then goes with my mom and does a week long Art Camp at the museum. Then we are headed to Orlando for about 12 days. Universal and Legoland are on the list. Every other year we travel to a family reunion and this year we fly to Arizona for 3 days. My son will come back and try to attend a Bible School. He loves to stay busy and I'm thankful my mom loves to take him to some of these things. I've love to go to Cedar Point and try out the Valravn with DH. Last year I took my son to Kings Island with a friend and it was a lot of fun since I hadn't been for 20 years or so. He isn't ready to ride those type of roller coasters yet. I always feel bad about spending more money going to amusement parks after vacation, so going with a friend saved us money. You have plans for a busy summer. Good for you to keep your ds busy. You are lucky to have a mom to help out. I enjoy helping my ds&ddil in the summer with my dgc. It seems like one needs to go in a different direction than the other. Gives me some quality time with each, alone. Amusement parks are great & glad that you have a friend that will go with you. Saving money is a good justification

We have a small lake house about 40 miles from our house in town. It's close enough that we can live there all summer, so we do. We love it. Your lake house sounds like a great place to relax & recharge your batteries. Great that it is realatively close to your home.

We recognize that we have to invest in our relationship or we never would have made it this far. We'll go somewhere nearby. I have a friend with a lake home that may let us borrow it for a weekend. The resort in Phoenix hosting the conference has a water park and we will be pretty busy with the conference. I head to San Fransicso for work after the conference, so the cooler temps will be welcome.

We're taking a family vacation to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware for a week in July. DS is going to Wisconsin for 10 days in early July with some HS friends to stay with another HS friend and his family at their lake house. It will be his fourth summer there. In September DS has a week-long business conference at a resort outside San Diego and we may be leaving DS alone for the first time since he will have lots of marching band commitments. I have heard that the beaches in Delaware are quite nice, so I hope that you have a good time. Isn't it great when the kids are old enough (& mature enough) to have adventues without their parents. Good for you that you are confident & consider your kid to be able to be at home for a few days by himself. This is a big deal & hope that it all works out.

Now we no longer have to take vacation in the school breaks, we tend to avoid them! We also tend to prefer shorter trips. This year, our plans are: 5 days in Prague at the start of June and a week on Crete in late August. Our son is visiting from Australia in late September/early October, so after the obligatory first week at Oktoberfest, we are planning on going to Spain - probably Valencia - for a week as well.

Going home to see my dad and siblings in July. Hoping to get to Myrtle Beach in August. Otherwise we're hanging out at home with lots of swim team meets, ballet intensives, and some working out for me! Where is home? Myrtle Beach is a great place to visit. I enjoy choosing the different restaurants on 'Restaurant Row'. Summer is a good time of more intensive training for swim & ballet. Enjoy your workouts. Home is London, Ontario, Canada. I miss home. It's nice to go back once a year. I'm looking forward to a little slower pace over the summer. It's been one heck of a hectic school year!

We will be spending a week in Maryland with my husband's family in June or July. We'll rent a big house at Deep Creek Lake. We've done this the past few summers and have had great times.
And my husband and I would like to take a long weekend together, maybe run up to Washington DC before it gets hellishly hot.
And we're hoping to host my nephew here for at least a few days this summer--he is graduating high school, and thinks he would like to major in mechanical engineering this fall. My husband is a mechanical engineer, and we think Tanner should come down and shadow him at work for a few days, see if he thinks that's what he really wants to do.
I'd also love to have my nieces here for a few days, too. It's hard to plan around all their activities, but it's so fun when they're here.

Just quick trips here: Dh and I are 2 nights in Stratford for the Shakespeare Festival and then 2 nights in Toronto Camping somewhere in Ohio (I think, dh is supposed to be making the reservation. He has been looking at sites for over a month) Somewhere else for a weekend trip. What plays are you seeing in Stratford? Stratford is close to my hometown (Baden). There is a fish & chip 'dive, that has delicious buttertarts, on the Buttertart Trail, outside of downtown on the way towards Goderich. Yummy. Are you seeing any shows in Toronto? The city-pass is a good $ deal, depending on where you are going. Camping isn't 'my thing', but enjoy! A mystery trip as well. Take pics & share when you come home. We have tickets for Shakespeare in Love and A Chrous Line. What's a butter tart? Not much is going on show wise in Toronto, but we will probably hit up Second City while we are there. I will look into the City Pass. Camping really isn't my thing either, but dh loves it so I go a few times a year for marital peace. Being allergic to almost all tress, grasses, and pollens doesn't help.

We were going to go camping. Then we couldn't agree on a location. Then we started looking at campgrounds that had cabins to rent. I was like, why are we renting a cabin where we still have to bring bedding, something to cook with, etc? That's not camping. The boys don't care for the beach like they did as kids so we looked at private campgrounds that offered pools. Then in trying to figure out what to do with them - it's hard when you have two teenagers whose interests revolve around their laptops and phones, I realized they don't want to walk around and take in history or sightsee.
So a couple days at Boyne Mountain Resort and the indoor waterpark they have there, a weekend at MIL's house on the lake that is actually not far from the resort, and then later in the summer, a day at Michigan Adventure.
We'll probably throw in a day or two at a local family entertainment place, the drive in theater at least once and any other driving experience we can work in for DS1 who will be completing driver's ed this summer.

We are headed to Wilmington, NC, to visit DH's grandmother, aunts and uncles. We rented a condo between the beach and grandma's house. My 5 year old is determined to go find sea shells. My 16 year old can't wait for the very fresh seafood.
