We're doing our annual summer road trip to PA. On the way home we're taking grandson #1 to the Martin Guitar factory for a tour and we're going to stop to see a few other local "attractions" in that area since we've never been to that area of the state.

It has been a long time since I have been to Wonderland. Ottawa always has so much to do/see. Scotland as in overseas? This will be so much fun & lots to see & experance. Take lots of pictures & share with the peas. Yes, Edinburgh. We are excited I think we're there the same time.

I have a week off of work and school in August. DH and I are planning to sty around and do some projects around the house. We're planning to take a cruise next year, so we figured we'd stay home and invest in the house this year. Get the housework done so that you can fully enjoy your cruise. Where are you going and what port is your departure? I think we are going to do Alaska next spring/summer. Trying to decide if we want to depart from BC or Seattle, and how long we want to be away. This will be a post-graduation/relaxation trip for both of us... REALLY looking forward to it!

Are / have you made plans for the summer? My dgc is looking forward to a Lego Robotic camp. I am planning to go to Canada's Maritime provinces. What are your plans? Can I ask about your Maritimes trip? We've been looking at doing a tour in a few years, for DH's retirement. We just got back from our annual cruise. We'll probably do a week at the beach, probably in August. I have a few weekends planned with girlfriends. Not much else planned right now.

We usually go for a week in Spring and Fall. We just (like three hours ago) got back from a car trip to So Cal. Hiking and the observatory in Griffith Park, Hollywood Blvd, Santa Monica, Ronald Reagan Museum, Universal Studios, Queen Mary. It had been at least 15 years since we were in the LA area. It was fun, but I'm glad to be home and looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. We are doing a lot of those same things when we go to Santa Barbara this summer. Just got out Ronald Reagan Museum tickets this week. Probably won't get the Queen Mary in this time around but everything else.

Staycation this summer....I'm retired, DH still works but gets plenty of time off, but we just had a fabulous week vacation at Christmas time in NYC and decided that we'd just do fun weekend getaways this year in anticipation of a big trip in 2017 for our 30th anniversary.
There are a few places in Iowa we want to check out for the hiking, junk hunting, wineries and craft breweries.

Dh and I are going to New England in 5 days for my grad school graduation. We've made a vacation out of it- will be in Portland, Maine and Boston and cape cod and will be there 10 days. So excited.
As a family we are doing our usual 5 days on the Oregon coast over the 4th of July - our dogs love it!
Dd#3 has a variety of dance camps with her team and is also going to church camp in Canada with her youth group and taking a road trip with her two former dance teammates who graduate this year as they drop their stuff off at BYU (we aren't Mormon- her friends are).

We are spending a week in the Riviera Maya in Mexico. This past year has just been a total suckfest. We need this vacation. Where are you staying? I'm not a large resort person and somehow DH talked me into the Iberostar in PDC. We are staying at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya. It's located between Cancun and PDC. We stayed there two years ago and really enjoyed it. Which Iberostar are you staying at?

We are doing our annual week in Yosemite for the 4th of July, possibly spending the week before at Disneyland. Then we are trying to fit 2+ weeks in Colorado (drive out from CA) to visit dh's sisters and the cousins (all together we have 9 kids between us ages 7wks - 11yrs). Their school starts really early (August 11), we had planned to go in August and then take a quick drive to Omaha for dh to compete in the US triathlon championships (August 13th) and then back. But the family we like the best is out of town Aug 1-9th. So now we are thinking maybe July and dh just fly to Omaha for the champs. I am also hoping we can do an east coast trip to NYC (sister and her dh) and DC (BFF, her dh, and her new baby) for 2 weeks. But we are running out of time and our oldest starts Kindergarten at the end of August and then we are more tied to school schedules. Since she will miss the two weeks before Christmas break (we are driving to Cabo for Christmas) I want to try to minimize the other time we pull her out. I'm hoping that her teacher will work with me, since I taught kindergarten before having kids, and I can "teach" her whatever she needs while we are gone.
Dh has 7 more weeks of paternity leave he needs to use before next march, plus 5 weeks vacation. So thankfully he has plenty of time off that he can use.

We're doing what we do every summer and I live for it. I will be driving, along with the 4 dogs and maybe 18 year old ds, from central Texas to western Michigan, where we have a cottage. We are actually about a half block off the lake, but our extended family has five other cottages so we have plenty of access. I get there first and everyone eventually comes and goes. Dd1 will get home from 2 months of volunteering in Uganda, so I will get a few weeks with her before she moves to LA for school. I will return home early in August. Our place is in/on Silver Lake, which is between Muskegon and Ludington.

All with my son: June - Chicago July - Charleston, WV and Pittsburg August - Atlantis (Bahamas) I backed out of a trip to Atlantis in August - it would have made my summer way too hectic. If you're there at any point between the 21st and the 26th, my choir kids will be there. we will be there during that time. I'll look for kids singing in swimsuits lol

Dh and I have no summer vacation plans. I've only scheduled one day off for the summer. In September I'm going to Florida alone to visit my daughter and granddaughter.
We have big plans for 2017 so we're saving money and my vacation time for that.

not too many plans here - DH is just about out of vacation time (he used it to pay for FMLA time off). my teen is going to RI for 10 days to stay with my mum - our family tradition is to take a trip the summer you are 16 - her brother went to RI also. My sister and I both went back to England and stayed with relatives there on our trips. Other than that - hopefully some weekend day-trips/overnights. If my teen gets her license, then we'll get a pool pass and do the summer $1 movies. If not, then we won't (I don't drive). I'll work with my 9 y/o on some Girl Scout stuff and keep her reading and being read to. The teen is pretty self-entertaining - she'll do Camp Nanowrimo, probably. Other than that - crafts, exercise, time with friends, cooking/baking (each of the girls will cook one dinner/week - the little one with more supervision/help since this'll be her first summer cooking regularly), we tend towards a pretty quiet, unstructured summer. Thanks for the idea! I'm going to have my son cook once a week too.

Husband has a lot of work related travel this summer, we will tag along some if feasible. Kids and I are tagging along one trip for sure, and will do some volunteer work then as well. Older two kids have different summer sports camps the same week, (sleep away for oldest, me shuttling back and forth for middle), and they both have summer birthdays. Other than that it is stay cation this year, but we've got the back yard fixed up really nice and a pool to stay cool in, so no complaints here!

We have a wedding in B.C. near the end of August. From there, we will drive to Seattle for a few days, then to Portland for a couple of days. Then we'll drive over to Yellowstone Park. We haven't been to any of these places, so it'll be all new to us.
DH and I really like roadtripping together, so we're looking forward to this.

I live in Ontario so I am planning to fly into Moncton NB. Then I will rent a car and 'discover' Nova Scotia, New Brunswick & drive over the Confederation Bridge (I LOVE driving over bridges) to P.E.I. I plan on taking a ferry to Newfoundland & fly home (Toronto) from there. If you want to travel to Canada, do it in 2017. This is the year of our 150th Celebration & all National Parks will be free and there will be many other events taking place. You will get good value for your USA $, as currently the CDN$ is lower in value. Book soon as there are many people planning on coming to Canada in 2017.

We are going to Florida for 10 days (4 days in St Augustine and the rest in Orlando) toward the beginning of June. Then the end of June we are going to Omaha for the College Baseball World Series. We've lived in Omaha for 10 years. Last year was the first time I went to CWS. I really enjoyed it. The US Olympic Swim Trials start immediately after the CWS. Omaha is busy for a month straight.

Annual trip to Seattle, and our second annual mom/kid road trip. This time we're heading north towards the San Juans, Vancouver, then over to the east side of the mountains to visit my alma mater (Go Eagles!) and visit my old college roommate in Spokane. Got DD's passport all applied for, can't wait to use it over and over again! Most of my friends hit up cruises and other tropical locations...I just want the mountains! Side Note: This is probably my 5th or 6th year straight of having job envy when it comes to *KAS* and her stellar work trips.

Order Mexican food, suchi (?), Chinese, German, French & food from other countries to enjoy.

Our big summer vacation this year is two weeks of trekking in Peru - can't wait! I'm also looking forward to a week in Nebraska with my daughter and parents. We timed our visit to go to the annual Star Party at a local reservoir. Western Nebraska is pretty empty, so there are some incredible dark skies for astronomy. My husband will be taking our daughter to visit his family in North Carolina over Labor Day and I will thoroughly enjoy my time off. Likely doing a three-four day weekend with girlfriends to celebrate our 40th birthdays (somewhere in the northeast- destination TBD). You have done several trekking trips. Enjoy! The star party will be awesome to see. Have fun on your other adventures.

We are headegton, NC, to visit DH's grandmother, aunts and uncles. We rented a condo between the beach and grandma's house. My 5 year old is determined to go find sea shells. My 16 year old can't wait for the very fresh seafood. I love fresh seafood. You will have an enjoyable time with the many family members.
