We may go back our hometown -Rapid City, SD for the 4th of July. I am also thinking about going to Cuba with a friend who knows someone that tastes groups there. I'll be in Rapid City too! I grew up in western Nebraska and we went to Rapid all the time. I'm flying in there with my daughter to go see my parents in July. She requested we go back to Reptile Gardens, so we're going to stay an extra night and do some of the tourist things.

Our big summer vacation this year is two weeks of trekking in Peru - can't wait!
I'm also looking forward to a week in Nebraska with my daughter and parents. We timed our visit to go to the annual Star Party at a local reservoir. Western Nebraska is pretty empty, so there are some incredible dark skies for astronomy.
My husband will be taking our daughter to visit his family in North Carolina over Labor Day and I will thoroughly enjoy my time off. Likely doing a three-four day weekend with girlfriends to celebrate our 40th birthdays (somewhere in the northeast- destination TBD).

We seldom travel from mid-June through August unless it is to visit my stepdaughter who is a teacher. We did that last summer. We offered a couple of options for traveling with them this summer but they declined. Hubby plans to go see them this summer as he usually does.
We went to Hilton Head the last week in April. We've never gone that early before and it was heavenly. The weather was warm, sunny and we got a great condo for a good price. My parents were good so we were able to stay for the entire week - the first time in years. We had to travel earlier because of some family medical things coming along this year. I also didn't mind getting to the beach before those Zika carrying mosquitoes hit. I hope they don't but I'm afraid they will. The island is full of lagoons and standing water.
We are hoping to do a shorter trip with my parents in the next few weeks. We can never make concrete plans as medical things just keep cropping up.

We are taking our first family vacation in 8 years. We are taking the kids on their first cruise. It's sort of a big milestone trip. Dh turns 50, I turn 40, ds turns 14 and going into high school, we celebrated 15 years married in April (20 together) and dd is turning 12 (not a big one but still). In fact, dh and ds share a bday and their bday is the 2nd day of the cruise. Mine is 2 weeks later and then ds' is 2 weeks after mine. We leave in T minus 15 days and I can't wait!
Ds has football practice all summer, so we are limited to anything else. We'll do some lake trips, visit six flags, etc. But the cruise is our big plans.

This past April and April last year we were invited to events (significant birthday and a wedding) abroad and we built our main holidays around those dates. We will go away for a shorter break in September as we did last year and we have realised we enjoy going away at either end of what we laughingly call summer in the UK Hopefully we will actually have a good summer here and will have the best of both worlds!

I just got back from my annual girl's cruise and DH and I are going to DC this fall. We tend to stay local in the summer. We live in a lake community and take the boat out or go to the pool or day trip.

We're doing a week at Tybee Island in July. Other than that, it will be a few day trips or overnights.

Loved Greece so much that we now go back to a different island each year. Ephesus is on my bucket list!

June: Kenai Peninsula in Alaska for hiking, glaciers, seafood, and wildlife July: Mendocino September: being planned I also have June 2017 already booked with cabins inside Yellowstone Alaska & Mendocino are quite the opposite. Pictures highlighting the 'same but different' contrast would be great visuals. Yellowstone is huge & full of adventures. It has been a long time since I was there. Have a fun summer! We are leaving for Yellowstone in 6 days! We went there when the kids were little and are looking forward to being there without all the drama that 3 little girls bring.

Our family goes to NC for the weekend for my husband's family reunion, and going to the beach for 2 weeks.
My 18 yr. old is almost finished her freshman year in college, and I pick her up next week! She may go to Florida to visit her former boyfriend/current good friend.
The kids and I may go on a 3 day trip to visit my parents 5 hrs. away (and where my 18 yr. old goes to college). We may take my 16 yr. old's boyfriend with us. It should be fun!

Annual trip with our car club. This year we're cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway down to NC then o. The way back we're going to the Virginia Intern'l Raceway so the guys can drive the track. There will also be go-cart races for the guys and girls. i haven't seen the final itinerary yet but I know our group leader will have plenty of unique places for us to stop at for sightseeing, shopping and eating. He always plans the best trips. Can't wait until next month. I have 2 grandsons who live near the BRP (Hickory) and are into vintage cars. They are restoring a vw bug right now. I would love to tell them about yall when you get the itinerary.

Busy summer- Helping my dad sell, downsize and move from the home he and my mom (deceased) built and lived in for the past 44+ years, into an apartment.
In reality, I'm doing 99% of the work since he winters in Florida and my brother and his family are "so busy."
Besides checking on the house, I found him a nice, quiet apartment, cleaned it, scheduled movers, have started to pack, contacted a Realtor friend, and need to talk to an estate sale firm about a date. Truthfully, my dad doesn't want to come back until most of it's taken care of. We all miss mom so much.
Other plans include a cousin's weekend at a lake cottage five hours north, my uncle's 80th birthday/family reunion on my dad's side, a family reunion weekend out of town on my mom's side.
Dd is standing up in two girlfriend's weddings, so I am doing their calligraphy, helping with showers and attending.

Younger DD has three weeks of orchestra camp. Older DD and I are traveling to NYC for a few days in June.
We're still deciding if we want to go somewhere far away (by plane) as a family or just do something within a few hours' drive. We're saving for a big vacation next year so probably the latter - maybe a few days in Port Aransas.

We usually camp a few places in the summer. This summer we have scheduled a trip to Itaska State Park for our first time at the Mississippi source, so excited finally to check that off the bucket list. Like the Duluth area end of August for camping. Otherwise nothing big. Just fairs and weekend things here and there.
Since we are from MN, we do our big trips in the fall/Winter.

Stay-cation for us this year. Unfortunately, my dh has been out of work for almost a year now. He's been working as an Uber driver for the past couple of months...the money CAN be good, but it really relies the tourists around here and right now we are in our slow season...it should start to pick up in another month once school is done.
Then there's our almost 17 year old, blind, hard of hearing dog that hinders us from leaving him for any length of time...being gone for the day while we work is about all we allow him to be home alone and we feel that is even too much, but we have to work.
And my mil's health is failing so we need to be on the ready for a trip to Phoenix... my dh is out there now for a quick weekend visit to check on her.
With all of these issues, we feel it's best to save our money and wait...we are almost close to retiring and will be able to travel plenty in the RV we plan to buy.
