I love the Ghandi quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world". For me,as a Jew that means try to set an example. I don't have to tell you that I know from prejudice. I grew up in a very anti-semetic community. What I've learned is to try and be a good example of a normal Jew, whatever that means. I can't change a racist's mind and I'm not about to try. Stupidity will always exist. However, I can work to create a better world by being a better person and hopefully, leaving this planet better than it was when I found it.

Don't be afraid to read the book. It was fascinating.
I felt the author had respect and compassion for Henrietta's family, while not taking sides.
She showed how the science jumped ahead, and the ethics had to scramble to keep up. And there were both selfless and greedy scientists.

I read the book last year and enjoyed it, and learned a lot from reading it.

This thread explains everything about a very confusing interaction we had a couple of years ago. Share it. Gina share the Facebook message requests too. Gia I have an excellent memory (all black people do that's why we whine about slavery so much) so even if your pea name was different I will remember. Go ahead and spin up that lie make it uber angry black woman okay. I don't want you looking all bad so let me help....I joined in 2005-2006 and I think my name has always been Olan. I left and joined the nicer ladies with the super expensive die cutting machines on another board for a bit but do Tell em how in a ornament swap I sent you a picture of Angela Davis. Does anyone legitimately remember young Olan. I was really sweet. I truly was. *bats eyes*

*rolls eyes* Your First Lady would be embarrassed by the level of online bullying you enjoy inciting.
This was a pretty insightful thread don't you think? Some updates. I previously mentioned the Bahamas had issued a travel advisory for Bahamians traveling to the U.S. Well the NAACP has issued its first statewide travel advisory....for Missouri just last week.

Olan, kiss my ass. You have no idea who I am or what I believe and calling me out like that is rude and uncalled for. You were offended by something you knew nothing about but decided to get butt hurt about it. Whatever. Somehow I knew this thread would turn into a poor me, look at how ugly the white people are to me and mine. I truly had no idea what you were talking about so I asked. You weren't very clear in your posts and you still aren't making much sense. Have a nice day. This is a great example of how black people are expected to one educate themselves on the historical meaning of these relics and 2 take no offense to these racially insensitive artifacts. We are also asked to believe that the people who fight so vehemently for them to remain aren't bad people. Society wants me to see the humanity in their racist ass father but would deny my sister the right to an OBGYN appointment that doesn't include racist imagery or a J. Marion Sims type vibe.
