I am very much struggling with how to find anything to be thankful about today. My only idea just didn't work (daughter didn't want to hold still for a photo and we were kind of in a hurry because I wanted to get the cnn app downloaded before HRC spoke this morning) so the only thing I can think of is how I feel I can heal best. I snatched my daughter from her bed last night and tried to snuggle her in our room, but she just wanted to play. But it did spark in me the thought of embracing my kids as a healing mechanism. So, when my husband gets home from work and before he goes to his second job, I will try and convince my kids to all come downstairs and I will give all three of them a huge hug and hope my husband can get a good photo.
I am already confident that yesterday will likely end up a single photo from an electoral map showing that my state went blue and that my journaling will be long and reflective regarding my dismay over this election and how I will not let that overshadow the pride that I have in my fellow Nevadans in this election as we did everything we were supposed to do for a brighter, less hateful America. And the little anecdote from my son, as affirmation that I'm doing something right.

scrapaddict702, I'm struggling with finding something to be thankful for as well today. I'm caught up as of yesterday, but I think I'll put my book aside for a few days for now and see if I feel like I can come back to it.

scrapaddict702 , I'm struggling with finding something to be thankful for as well today. I'm caught up as of yesterday, but I think I'll put my book aside for a few days for now and see if I feel like I can come back to it. I am so disheartened. I never said 'when' for HRC because DT had beaten all of the odds up to that point, so I knew it could happen, but I really had more faith in the American people and merely didn't want to jinx it. I'm sick over this. I just forced myself to eat some leftovers, but I haven't had much of an appetite today. I'm also running on about 4 hours of sleep because I couldn't sleep this morning and I'm not even tired now...just worn out after everything. I usually shop or scrap when I'm stressed, but when I am sad, I tend to withdraw from what would normally bring me joy...I had all these things that I was looking forward to buying (my Elle's Studio kit tomorrow, a Stampin' Up order to get some things that I've been wanting for months and planning my Black Friday shopping) and now I feel sick and am in disbelief. I am in a place where I feel no hope, no optimism and that makes this wonderful project hard. I am so relieved that my Mother will be here Saturday and I can talk at (I tend to drown out my husband with my disbelief...I process and sort through things by talking about it until it stops hurting) her about all of this while she's here. She will be here for 2 weeks, so hopefully her being here will be a good enough distraction to allow me to narrow my focus again to why I wanted to do this project. I haven't scrapped today and I watched election coverage all day Monday. I'm really hoping that tomorrow I'll have the energy to craft again or I'm just going to keep getting behind, especially after my Mom arrives. I need to capture yesterday in a way that I'll be able to look back with more fondness for my state than sadness for my nation or it won't be an album I want to thumb through. Fine balance.

Glad you are really getting into this, iheartpaper! ((((Hugs)))) scrapaddict702 and carolynhasacat. I hope you will find your balance soon. Sometimes scrapbooking helps me through tough times. I don't always end up with the best pages, but the cutting and placing and inking and gluing can be soothing. Other times I can't even look at my scraproom because I am almost afraid the bad feelings will invade my happy place. I think the worst times are when I am looking forward to scrapping a happy event and then the event doesn't turn out the way I wanted it to, and it is like I have been robbed of the past (the anticipation), the present (the happy experience I imagined) and the future (scrapping about it and loving the memories). When that happens, I walk away from that topic altogether and scrap about something else--but it does take the fun out of it for awhile... I am hoping after your disappointment, working on this little book will help you to see the good stuff: I really believe we see what we are looking for. If the prompts help, great. if you can focus on something else you appreciate, even better. Day ten prompt is up.

I am going to admit defeat. I am not having fun with the mini album. It was my first and it is not for me and I feel like I am wasting supplies. I have also been avoiding my craft room and I don't like that. I am going to do some type of layout where I list my items. That feels like a good plan for me.

You're just changing up how you show how thankful you are! I have started project life many years. I have two complete albums from 2010 that I adore. We had so much exciting stuff going on that year. Then there is 2012, 2013 and 2014. I have ALL the pictures in an album kit. 2012 I completed through June. While I wish I would have gone farther, to me, it's half a year and complete. Same for 2013. I'm glad there is a full album, even if it's not a year. I started off strong in 2014, but that album didn't go past Spring Break. After that there are a bunch of regular layouts. I love that you can see the everyday in there, too. What I came to realize is I didn't fail, I just documented what was going on in different ways throughout the year. That is not failure...that is life. I'm thankful I can see bits and pieces of our lives. I'm thankful that I can decide to be positive about what I DID accomplish. Your thankful page will be treasured. Just remember it is YOU who decides how you feel about the project. YOU who gets to decide to spin it positive!

So things are starting to look up this week. We do the same thing every veteran's day (even though I had to tell my husband that we had because he didn't remember us going EVERY year) and since my dad passed, we also visit his grave site on veteran's day (as well as memorial day and his birthday at the very least) so I have plenty of pictures today. But I also have something else to add, so my PL will be eventful, too.
My oldest son is a great eater. He has no problems with fruits or vegetables, but my younger 2 wouldn't take them as solids, only as baby food. We've tried over and over (with lots of tears and forced vomiting from my younger son whenever we try) and the only success we have is with carrots cooked in pot roast because they are small. When we eat out, we usually don't get my daughter her own meal because she doesn't eat that much, yet. Today, we got her her own meal and as her side, my husband decided to get apples. He figured that my oldest would eat them, worst case. I gave her one and watched her stick it in her mouth...much to my shock and glee, instead of spitting it out, she chewed and then finished the entire piece. She's NEVER done that before. I can't get enough good quality food into those two, so even though I still battle my younger son regularly, at least my daughter gave me a good surprise today. I'm so proud of her, it's a huge milestone with her difficult she is to feed.
I've also got a couple of options yesterday. I went to Michael's briefly and took pictures of the scented pine cones. I'm considering using that photo (the smell of cinnamon immediately transports my mind to feelings of nostalgic times), but I also grabbed a series of pictures (mostly blurry, but they'd be printed small anyway, so no biggie) of my daughter helping me put groceries away. I loved this phase with my boys and I'm enjoying it with her, too. She's at that point where she's figuring out how things work and wants to involve herself as much as she can, be it closing any open door (even if someone is standing IN the doorway) or shopping the pantry to find her own food or trying to cap or open various household items. It's like you can almost see their mind at work with the faces they make figuring everything out. I'm not sure which route I'll go just yet, but I'm sure there will be another grocery shopping trip this month if I end up going with the pine cones.

grammadee do you have a photo printer? Or a place you order from? Were these photos from your stash? I come up with lots of ideas, but I'm the worst at getting them printed.

I'm going to try to get back to it tomorrow. I'm not focusing on current photos with this project. I'm using some old favorites, and lots of words, and I think I'll continue with the word focus. I have some current photos in my book already, but with DD coming up it exhausts me to think of trying to use a current photo each day in my current mood.
I just went through some old photos and pulled a few that I might use. I think that will help me get back on track tomorrow.

Not grammadee here, but I've been using a combo of both quick orders from Walgreens close by and pictures that I have at home. I've even put a photo mat down while waiting for my Shutterfly to arrive. As grammadee has mentioned, you could just journal and not use a picture. Some of my favorite 12x12 layouts have no pictures, but a story I wanted told. I've filled up entire ledger pages with the story and embellishments. I find these kind of pages are very personal and therapeutic for me.

I have a small canon Selphie printer, but haven't been using it for this project. I have been using photos I have already printed. When I get a chance to go to town, I print LOTS of photos: WAY more than I can ever scrap. I like to keep my options open once I get back to my scrap room. For or this project, I have approached the photos in one of two ways. I have gone through a stack of pics, looking for something to illustrate a prompt I have in mind. And I have just riffled through a photo stack to get inspiration, and then start with the photo to come up with the prompt. When I think of the things I am thankful for, they are recurring themes, so a pic from today or 4 years ago are often equally relevant. I may may print some additional photos that fit the themes and place in photo sleeves between some of my journal pages and those could be current photos.

And I have plans for a prompt about looking forward that may work for those pine cones too. And as as for your pics and thoughts about your daughter helping, check out the prompt I post tonight for the 13th!

Yesterday and today I caught back up on this project that I absolutely adore! This is my list until today...
1-my life 2-DH 3-my sisters kids 4-my mom 5-good deals 6-my oncologist 7-hair dye 8-freedom to choose 9-kitties 10-DS29 11-music 12-nature 13-my helpers
Some days I follow the prompt, sometimes they're out of order, somedays I go on my own. Grammadee...thank you so much for leading us through this month!
I've even prepared the album/kit for this project again next year. I was lucky to find some Fall goodies at Targets dollar spot when it was 90% off and it has navy as a dominant color. I'm using a 6x6 We R album in a pretty lime (?) green color this year. I have a matching Navy one for next year to go with the kit. They are the only two I have like this so it couldn't have worked out more perfect! Now I just have to remember my plan...

I love that you used the prompts when it worked for you, changed them to suit your take on them, and used your own when you felt the gratitude bubbling up for something or someone in particular. That's what this project is all about! The prompt for today is up HERE. I will link these last ones into the op when I get back to my computer.

Up to day 6. It wasn't super detailed, but I had a lot of photos to include and it's already getting thick (yikes!) so I'm going to have to be more choosy in terms of when I use thicker embellishments (I do have paper in sleeves for the whole month, so it's not like 6 days is really filling the album, lol). My Mom wants to take the younger 2 to the park for a bit, so I'm hoping to get another page done...if not another page, hopefully I'll be able to at least get several days of photos printed and another day started.
I scrambled for an idea last night...just wasn't planning. Told hubby I wanted to take pictures of him reading to the kids (which I did take) but there were some funny pictures of me and the kids goofing around before that, so I might make yesterday a day of being thankful for them being goofballs, lol.

Including photos of your dh reading or of you and the kids goofing around sounds like a perfect addition to a gratitude journal. I bet your mom is enjoying her time with you and the kids. Glad you are getting a little time to create in this busy month. The prompt for the 16th is up. I didn't do the page for this one yet, but hope to get it finished and posted sometime Wednesday. I also want to get caught up with my summary page. Have just the first 3 or 4 added: need to get caught up.

The prompt for the 15th is up. Halfway done: how are we all doing? I was home sick all weekend, so I jumped ahead and completed a number of pages in my book. I mentioned before that I was planning to use some older photos as well as newer, so I did many of the 'older photos' pages and just left some blank pages in my book to fill in with current photos. If you want to have a look at my pages, they're posted over at the Cocoa Daisy gallery. I really am loving the Traveler's Notebook size for this kind of project. I would love to do another similar style of project in another season and focus on different colors and different topics.

So bright and colourful! I sometimes struggle a bit with my 6x8 pages, because after usually working with 12x12 two pagers I am used to LOTS of space. But you have really made those small pages WORK! Hope you don't mind, but I am Linking your Overview here, so others can take a look.

I would love to do another similar style of project in another season and focus on different colors and different topics. Wow...just love the style and format of your project! I have never worked with a travelers notebook, but I see why they are so popular...great job!
