She has to be sweating now. At least any sane person would be. I hope she retracts the suit (or whatever the term is for knocking it the hell off). Stampin Up is no stranger to lawsuits so I can't see them backing down.

If she wins this one she may become drunk with power and go after school kids’ rulers. That notchy ruler is patented. Teehee.

I'm still shaking my head about the designers who are still using and promoting the misti in their videos all while standing behind hero arts in their lawsuit.

I'm still shaking my head about the designers who are still using and promoting the misti in their videos all while standing behind hero arts in their lawsuit. right?! Do they think they're standing up for the little guy in both cases, perhaps? Or do they just not care because they want to support who they want to support. It annoys the heck out of me when they specifically say the name of the tool every time too. Not a generic "I'm using a positioning tool so I can restamp this in the same spot" but calling it out by name. It makes me wonder if the Bitter one requires it. So many people I like otherwise, but who lose a little bit of love from me when they pull out that nasty pink thing.

McGuire specifically said this lawsuit is different and she is on the other side this time round. Last week she pulled out her Spellbinders cutter and a bazillion Hero Arts inks to demo. I never got why she supported Misti. I’m wondering where Tim Holtz is in this. Sizzix makes all his dies and they are cobranded Sizzix as is the Vagabond. People boycotting Sizzix will affect his sales also. Must be weird.

I assume that the designers probably have a contract with MSP. Few people seem to actually read contracts carefully before signing. Perhaps they just thought signing a contract to promote it was worth getting a free MISTI at the time. It's also entirely possible that friendship has clouded their judgment.

I like a lot about Jennifer McGuire but she is a straight up hypocrite with the MISTI now that’s she’s all in with Hero Arts. The sizzix lawsuit is a direct result of my rotten petunias actions.

These are good points that I hadn’t thought of. I’m not inclined to choose friends who are as fierce as she seems to be but she may present differently to friends.

Ugh, I was just listening to a Jennifer McGuire video and she noticed said "because I'm using a stamping tool - my MISTI stamping tool - I can... blah blah blah" It was like she was speaking naturally and then suddenly remembered that she's contractually required to name the rotten thing with its correct trademarked name every time she mentions it. I haaaate that so much.

I also hate that Gina K's new giant wreath builder requires the stupid mega size misti. I guess no other stamp positioner out there is big enough. So of course they push it.

I have the Hampton Arts 8 x 8 stamp press. I got it before the lawsuit. I wonder if that size would work. Not a big fan of the large wreath builder set anyway, but I really like the smaller ones. I just wish Gina K. didn't promote MSP so much.

It's not just her stamp positioner either, but so many videos are like "French Vanilla on the Riviera Ultrastock with Razzle-Dazzle-Roos' Not exactly these words but you get the idea. It's a goddamn-pair of SCISSORS, and we have perfectly good words for OFF WHITE CARDSTOCK, thank you kindly but there's no need for inserting that cutesty-corporate-bullshit, crafty-special-edition-naming into the mix. Yes, sure, give a list of materials at the start or put it in the video description or blog or whatever, but it gets so irritating when they rattle off these long phrases for otherwise mundane supplies every time it gets a mention. Feels like watching an infomercial.

Same reason she uses her own cardstock and ink and stamps. She does videos to promote products she sells in her store.

Just FYI, you can easily make your own wreath stamp positioner, and make it any size. I just used a stencil plastic, which I cut with my Cameo. I made two different sizes, and I use stamps from my stash instead of Gina K. I do have one Turnabout wreath stamp set, which works fine with my home produced template.
I use the Tim Holtz stamp platform with it.

Feels like watching an infomercial. I have to turn off the videos when they start saying that. I am trying to learn art techniques and not be sold something. It can get so bad I liken it to those terrible commercials about drugs and if you take them you will die from all the side effects. I really do this. I am not being snarky. It remind me of that, lol.
I understand DT or MLM reps doing that. You have no name, not getting any money, making video for hobby that will say that over and over again. I am mumbling "I get it girl, knock it off!" I am thinking to myself SU is not going to notice this person and offer them a social media account. They want you to join as a demo, lol.
Everyone raves about Jennifer like she is the second coming. I am sure she is a sweet lovely girl. I don't watch her videos. I saw one and she seemed lovely but her style is not my style. I am not going to watch her videos. You say to somebody, especially over at SCS, that you don't watch her videos and you are worse than a person who kills kittens.
I don't watch a lot of stamper's with MISTI's unless they are the no names who bought a MISTI because that was a good fit for them or that's what they could afford at the time. They are not going to spend another $40-$50 on another positiioner. I haven't heard the Misti called "the stamp positioner". Most girls I watch will say "I am using my Misti and Versafine Ink." kind of thing.
I think it's funny her positioner is now called "the stamp positioner". The MISTI has become the Voldemort of our stamping world, ROFL. Don't say the name, Nagini will eat you. I feel really bad saying that I about Nagini since I saw Fantastic Beasts and I feel sorry for her. I am like "Girl, you have every right!"
Embri My DH was peeking in my sticker/stamping box today. It's a box I keep all my little items in to make my rubber stamp stickers and rubber stamp miniature creations. He saw my CD stamp positioner I made from the tutorial you shared. He thought it was really cool.

It gets so TIRESOME hearing the same brand mentioned over and over and over. I get that they are promoting products but it's just overkill to the point of making me just stop watching because it is like those repetitive long "ring and order now" ads that you see on TV that are trying to sell you this amazing food preparation tool that slices, dices and makes meal preparation a breeze - but wait, there's MORE & we will mention our brand 400 times in the next 10 minutes - ugggh! Just say you have links to products on your blog or in the You-Tube description - or maybe say that all the inks & cardstock I am using are by Gina K Designs or by whoever & leave it at that - and it would probably make the video shorter . I turned off a recent video that said Gina K Designs over & over - I think I counted at least 14 mentions before I just rolled my eyes and said: "Oh for crying out loud, STOP it!"

Not to defend the vloggers, but as someone who has been blogging/posting projects a long time and made the occasional video, I still think that at least some of the reason there is overkill in stating what products are is because people don't actually read the supply list (I've given links, explicit detail, etc. and STILL get people asking...) or watch the whole video, so if they don't say it every darn time, there's always that one person that couldn't be bothered to do some research. And when you're as watched as some of these prevalent YouTube crafters, it must get tiresome to reply to so many emails/messages/comments that are literally already answered if the viewer just read/listened a bit.
Yes, of course, a large part of it is promotion, but I just wanted to point out this one part too. I'm not even that popular, and trust me, it gets really frustrating FAST when people just don't bother to read/listen when you've already spelled it all out.
To get back on topic though- all of these lawsuits are just ridiculous, the crafting industry is so global now, but from my understanding, all of these patents are USA only. In Canada, the Hampton Arts positioner (which is actually the only one I've seen that is almost identical to the MISTI) is being SO pushed. I mean, sure you can try and win in the one market, but are you prepared to take on the rest of the world? I have no idea if worldwide patents are granted or even a thing and if so how they are enforced?

Ever since Shimelle started calling anything off-white "cream," that's the only word scrapbookers seem to use to refer to anything that is off-white. Cream has a definite yellow cast to it. It's in the off-white family, so to speak. I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'll stop here, but I definitely agree with you.

From what I recall, Canada/US have reciprocity in copyrights under the Berne Convention, but only priority when it comes to patents. You still have to file in both countries, and any others you wanted your patent in separately.

I've heard of ballet blue and pink pirouette. I can't think of any other ballet related color names. So far all of their names have matchy matchy first letters. Which is cutesy and stupid but also makes it easier to remember the names.

I've never heard of that name for stampin up cardstock. Hm, maybe it was Lawn Fawn? I get them confused all the time, as I don't buy any of the silly named cardstock products. Edit: Yeah, it's Lawn Fawn, and it's Ballet Slippers. *massive eyeroll @ naming* Because 'pink' wasn't good enough, I guess. It's not even a nice pink, reminds me of Pepto Bismol.

If every company named their cardstock pink and red and blue, etc it would get confusing. I would be surprised if a company didn't have a catchy name for the colors. Yes, they can sound dumb but they're more memorable and individual than "yellow" or "green".

If every company named their cardstock pink and red and blue, etc it would get confusing. Why? You could say SU! Pink, or LF Pink, or whatever. Or just... not call it anything but the colour name, does it really matter what brand your particular cardstock came from? *headtilt* I don't understand how it would be confusing.
