We tried to get to the parks an hour before they opened. I know that seems excessive, but on the days we arrived 30 minutes before RD, we were back a long ways. Since you're staying at a Deluxe, you also might score a night or two of Extended Evening Hours, that would definitely help for the heat and crowds. It'll absolutely make getting up the next day hard, but it might line up with a rest day, etc. That’s what I was thinking too, not excessive to me, but I thought the busses only started running an hour before the gates opened for early entry. And not knowing what stop we are on the bus line, I thought it’d take a while to get there. What time did you line up for the bus? MK and one other have extended evening hours right now, which is why we might do a couple hours of extended evening hours at MK on the day we do AK since they close so early. That would work out perfectly. I’m hoping the other 2 parks announce extended evening hours by the time we go. And we have a day of rest after each park day so no issues there. With my heat issues I am likely to be in the room the entire time between breakfast and dinner so EEH would be so helpful. I might not get to do as much, but hopefully I won’t be as miserable when at what I am able to do.

That’s what I was thinking too, not excessive to me, but I thought the busses only started running an hour before the gates opened for early entry. And not knowing what stop we are on the bus line, I thought it’d take a while to get there. What time did you line up for the bus? Carousel Coffee opens at 6:30, so we would grab our breakfast and go. On the days we took it back to our room (which was just down the hall from the Coffee Shop), we'd be farther back in line, obviously. They say the bus doesn't start until an hour before park opening, but I don't think we've ever found that to be true. Perhaps it is in summer when the crowds are larger, but I can't imagine why they'd have the bus running sooner with less crowds? Now, Boardwalk also only has the one bus pick up spot, so there isn't the 2? or 3? stops at Beach Club, so maybe that matters? MK and one other have extended evening hours right now, which is why we might do a couple hours of extended evening hours at MK on the day we do AK since they close so early. So, our last day at Disney, we let the kids choose where we went. We helped organize the order so we didn't bounce from EPCOT to MK back to EPCOT, etc. Anyway, that evening, the kids wanted to hang in the room and were exhausted, so DH & I went back to MK. We took the bus and were back at the gates right after 6PM with a 9PM close. My Lightning Lane for Haunted Mansion was cancelled, so I ended up with a freebie. Our goal was to do the photoshoot at Rapunzel's Tower with the lantern, so we just went straight back there. We ended up having to go around the castle instead of through the castle because they started roping off for the fireworks. We stood in line for a little bit for the lanterns and I noticed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was back online - it had been down for scheduled refurbishment. The wait time went up so fast, but I went ahead and used our available LL to book another Haunted Mansion because it was back online, too. We got our photo, walked straight onto Big Thunder (DH's favorite and highly recommend at night), went to HM to use our LL easy peasy. Everyone by this time was lined up for fireworks in front of the castle. We just dodged everyone by heading towards the back and going to the People Mover. I had hoped to catch it when fireworks were going off because you get a great shot of the castle. No luck there, but it was beautiful anyway. We got off and decided to try 7 Dwarfs, even though the app said it was 50 minutes. We stopped for a photo in front of the tea cups since NOBODY WAS AROUND, then got to 7D. We could see the fireworks going off as we basically walked straight on the ride. When we rode, they were still going off and you get a great shot of them above the castle. It was THE BEST. We got off and the line had started to form, so we went back towards Tomorrowland while watching fireworks still going off above our heads. The show ended and we walked onto our other LL for Buzz's Ranger Spin. All that to say, it was the most magical couple of hours and if you don't care about watching the fireworks in front of the castle, you should wander around back because it's pretty empty and you can still get things done.

you also might score a night or two of Extended Evening Hours We were too exhausted to enjoy extended hours as much as we should. We were so happy with the short lines. Walked on 7 Dwarfs. Big Thunder was closed But beware the line-length signs - they are INACCURATE during extended hours (and even towards close of the day they are way off). Use your eyes. 7 Dwarfs said 35 minutes, but it was a walk-on. DH was arguing with me (because I'd done research ahead and knew this trick) and I got to give a big "told you so!" to him. Fireworks - we didn't get to see the MK fireworks. Our last night, we watched them on our resort TV and we were all impressed and sad we hadn't seen them in person. I know that riding rides during fireworks is a good way to go, but IDK, the fireworks are popular for a reason! Next time I will make sure we see them once. Coffee in the morning - we took ours from our room because stopping in the morning is such a time suck. Read a cool hack since then - buy an ICED coffee the night before, without any ice. Store in the fridge and add ice in the morning and off you go. I honestly think I'll do that next time! Buses - dawnnikol , good to know they start earlier than advertised! We always got to the bus stop at 7 and the bus would come about 7:10. We were at Old Key West (very good experience btw. Tons of space to spread out, tons of counter space LOL) but yes, we were back in the line a long way for RD. It almost wasn't worth it. Epcot hack - we rope dropped the BACK ENTRANCE/international gateway entrance. Took the bus that morning to Hollywood studios, then the skyliner from HS to Epcot. The skyliner was EMPTY and a great view/relaxing ride. The international gateway entrance is so so much quieter, a flow of people but no crazy crush or line and it's very close to Remy's Adventure and the Frozen ride, so we got both those rides done before the front gate crowds even walked back to them! We will repeat this tactic next time. Since you are staying at an Epcot area resort, can you get to the back door easily?

dawnnikol We really don’t. If we make it over to MK it will be for specific rides. And maybe a snack if there are delicious exclusives there. And I’m honestly considering this for the other parks as well, riding the rides while most people are watching the fireworks. Especially if we don’t get to ride the major ones during the day we wanted to. I’m not sure how many bus stops are in front of our hotel, I assumed we wouldn’t be taking them. Will have to check. kitbop I am hoping I will be okay for the extended hours since I’ll be in my room for several hours during the late afternoon. That is great to know about the line lengths! We haven’t been in so long to compare, but we can have someone run in to see how far the line is. I’m sorry you missed them! Major bummer to end the trip. We got to see all of the fireworks last time we were there so if it comes down to it it will make for an easier decision for us if there was a Top 3 ride we never got to ride we can do it then without feeling like we missed out too much. We’ll be in the park but from what I remember a lot of the lines were mostly inside or at least under cover. I don’t drink coffee, actually I almost exclusively drink water, I’m a cheap date! But DH does so I will suggest it to him. If we even get a mini fridge. Even though it’s a Deluxe resort they have mini fridges and something they call beverage coolers and you don’t know what you’ve got until you get there. I’m not too worried about it because we will have our big Yeti with us since it’s almost a 2-week road trip for us, but still. That surprised me. It is literally right by the entrance. If you look on a map, it’s the closest building to the International Gateway. I am super excited about that! Good to know the skyliner is empty early, we’re planning on using it to get to HS. And really great for the rides at Epcot we want to do. I’m not sure Frozen is on our list of must-dos. Well, it will be if the rest of the family does Epcot but I suspect this is the one park they’ll skip. But I’ll have to look at the map and see what else is fairly close to the entrance.

issues with MagicBands not staying on well and people losing them. I love magicbands because they're cute. I have an orangebird one and it's so fun to wear. I never had a problem with a regular magicband but the magicband+ doesn't stay because my wrists are small and it's massive. So I put a hairtie on it before I fasten it then move the hair tie to wear it will keep it together. Had no problems. DH and I don’t have children so we won’t have to wait for characters I'm an adult and have gone with and without kids and always visit at least one character. It's a fun experience. Since you're going in the Summer, try an indoor one so you don't have to wait in the sun. Mickey meets over near the exit of the Figment ride in EPCOT and there's not a big line. I’m surprised everyone doesn’t just use their pointer finger on their dominant hand The scanner things are on your left with you go through the line so we always use the first finger of our left hand. I never would have picked July because I’m so sensitive to the sun, heat and humidity but we have a lot of children in different school districts going so needed to work around that. WDW in July is like the surface of the sun. I think your plan to get up for rope drop (be at the bus stop 90 minutes before the park opens to you -- they let you into MK early so you can get to the line for rides before the people who aren't staying in a resort). Then head back to the resort for a swim and some AC in a dark room. We all nap for at least 20 minutes. Then head back when it cools down. In the parks just take breaks in the shade and people watch. We've been several times in the last few years so I have MK and EPCOT down to a science. I've only been to HS and AK once each. My two friends and I are going in October for a turning 50 trip and we are so excited! I've been at a work thing all weekend so I'll catch up with page 46 later. I have some food suggestions too!

blemon Thank you! We are going to try and meet Chewy to recreate the photos from our last visit. And if we seem some running loose we’ll do that. We just don’t want to spend an hour to meet a character when we’d prefer to be on rides. Chewy would be worth it though! And if we see the Queen of Hearts I’ll try to get a pic of her and DH, she tried to steal him away from me last time Yes, surface of the sun was my concern. I’m considering having a camelback full of ice on the back of the scooter seat to lean against to try and help me keep cool as well. And I really, really don’t want to faint here so I will definitely be taking any needed indoor breaks even if it means missing out on something. Just not worth it. And my midday break will be several hours, likely the time between a late ish lunch and dinner. What we did last time was take off our clothes and lay around practically naked in our cold room for a couple of hours, then changed into mostly fresh clothes and headed out again. This time, due to an additional 28 times around the sun and a non-existent heat and humidity tolerance, I’m also likely to take a cool shower (lukewarm is my usual), and have some ice packs placed in strategic areas all the while having compression boots work on my legs for a bit. Plus keep drinking lots of water. I would love to do a trip like this with friends, what fun! Same age, similar interests, and they’re your people. Sounds great! MIL did that a couple of years ago that’s when she decided she wanted all 23 of us to go this year. I think trying to wrangle 23 people through DW is going to come as quite a shock to her, but thank goodness she’s been reading and watching a lot! Yes, would love food recs! The only thing we are certain of is Morimoto after Cirque de Soleil, and that’s assuming we can get reservations. I’m calling tomorrow during a lull to see when they start accepting reservations. Not yet and we are 4 months out. They’re on open table, and it looks like they have times because you can select the day, but then there is a message that it’s too early. That date is going on my calendar!

take off our clothes and lay around practically naked in our cold room for a couple of hours Yes!!! This is exactly what we do. I set an alarm in case we fall asleep. My favorite food places (we are vegetarian but I like atmosphere): MK - at columbia harbor house you can sit upstairs and have a view. pretty cool. Same with Pinocchio's across the street. It's never as crowded upstairs. We love Skipper Canteen for a reservation lunch. The theming is so good. Storybook Treats has different themed ice creams every day. So fun. They also aren't massive. Our favorite thing is Le Fou's Brew at Gaston's and the theming is the absolute best. Pecos Bills is not too expensive and just about everyone in your party is going to be able to get something there. Lots of seating. EPCOT: rose and crown has seating on the water, also two of the places in the Mexico pavilion (one is quickserve). I think that's always good if you have kids because they can look across the world and look at the ducks and stuff and not get as bored if there's nothing to do. Unfortunately, if it's hot, hot, hot, that's not always the best option. Super fun in Epcot (if it's open) is the restaurant in the back of Morocco. They have a belly dancer who comes out with live music and invites the kids to come up and dance. We have been there a couple of times. The AC is amazing and it's never crowded. The place in Italy is crazy crowded and not worth a visit in my opinion. And you idea to get snacks around the world is the same as what we do. Food and Wine might be starting when you're there which adds to the options. Also, kids will love picking out fun candy/treats in Japan. The food is in the back of the store and they have a great selection. If you need a super good AC and rest, there is an exhibit space inside China (last time it was a show about building shangai disney -- I think). No one was in there so we sat on the floor and soaked in the cool air. And you can ask for ice at any location and they will give it to you. The fridges in the room are more like coolers and don't have a freezer.

Thank you blemon, I have already added those to my notes for each of the parks! Epcot is one of the places it may be just DH and I because the rest of the family will be at MK with the children, so it would be easy to go where we want. We will DEFINITELY take advantage of the exhibit in the China pavilion to cool down, regardless. I wonder if the belly dancer would invite DH to dance, he’s always dancing and singing around the house and would have so much fun (after he died of mortification!) I was hoping one of the festivals would be going on while we are there, especially the Food & Wine Festival because we are foodies, but there isn’t one. We may be taking advantage of the ice availability for my camelback to keep me cool. But I remember our previous trips to Florida and the water was awful so I’m concerned about it melting in our water. We are looking for an insulated cup with a filter that actually works in that heat. There is a stainless steel one we might try, but we’d want 2 and they are $50 a piece. Ouch. DH has great quality plastic ones for his triathlons but the ice melts pretty fast in those. And I have found a filter you put in the water we need to buy and see if we can test how long it takes to work. We drink a lot of water and I am afraid it won’t be able to keep up. We plan on using ice from the hotel to keep our drinks cool in the yeti, and likely buying a few bags of ice halfway through. It keeps in there for days on end and when we put our water in there makes it ice cold! So I’m not worried about keeping our drinks or fruit cold, but we plan on bringing breakfast for most days to save time and money, and I don’t want that sinking into the ice water. Is that what they mean by beverage cooler? I was picturing one of those appliances like a wine cooler that had slots specifically for drinks, so our food wouldn’t fit in them.

Is that what they mean by beverage cooler? I It's like a mini-fridge. It just doesn't have a freezer compartment in it. It kept everything cool and we didn't have a problem with space. We had even ordered our daughter a cake and could fit it in there.

Simple Stories has a new Disney line with EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Galaxy's Edge. It's like the people who designed it actually visited the parks!
The vibe and design is just like their last collection (that had Fantasyland and Adventureland covered).
I just used the preorder code from ACOT to get what I wanted plus whatever was in my cart. Then I had a bunch of cherry points. The preorder saved me as much as the free shipping but I was able to use my points. Can't use them with the other discounts because you'd then have to spend the amount of your cherry points PLUS the $69.
Here's my excessive list: oh boy and yoo hoo paper and the tages from the Magic Wild Kingdom paper (cause we're doing a special safari tour) and 2 of the expedition paper from Wild. Then from Galaxy: cardstock stickers light speed, the force, far far away, space fleet, elements 1 and 2, foam stickers, brads From Epic: the foam stickers because I can't resist the monorail. I seriously spent $7 on that, the mickey ear design, and the spaceship earth stickers. I will probably use the tiny icons on the back too. Cardstock stickers, then only Norway, Mexico, and the Epic paper. I did not care for the other countries so much. From Tinseltown I only got the paper with the screens/numbers. I have never spent much time in Hollywood Studios. We spent almost our entire day at Galaxy's Edge and saw the Muppets movie once. So I wasn't really feeling that.
I have a trip planned for October for my 50th with two friends. One turns 50 in April and the other has an October birthday like me. So we are excited.

blemon Still jealous of your girlfriends’ trip in October! We have a few more months, but already have a 6’ table in our project room where we are gathering items together. Glad to see this thread pop up it reminded me I can book a table for Morimoto in Disney Springs on Open Table now. I just checked and there are only a few time slots available so thank you! I am still trying to decide what to get. I like a lot of the Epcot and HS lines. Not having been to this particular park I am a bit disappointed in the line for Animal Kingdom. It’s Disney, I know, but the line is a bit younger than I was hoping to scrap that part of the trip. Does it fit in really well with what we will experience? It’s great to see these because the huge amount of supplies I have now are all Magic Kingdom and generic, and we aren’t going to MK this time! I do have an older vacation to scrap so they’ll get plenty of use, but I’m glad for options for the other parks. There are tons of die cut files available for purchase, and I like a lot of Andrea Deer’s pages too so I need to see what has become available recently.

Does it fit in really well with what we will experience? OMG. I replied to this last night but my whole post is gone. But basically, no. The AK line is not representative of the actual animal kingdom experience. The person who designed it has never been there. It's more than a safari ride. That is one very small part of it.

I agree that the Wild collection is the weakest of these. The safari images could be found on most ordinary zoo collections. (But it's "Notazoo!") One item I do like is the Elements 1 cut-apart sheet. It does have a few items aside from the safari like the Everest Yeti, water ride, and Up! images.

I disagree about the Wild Kingdom line. I think it’s nice. I have more of that in my cart than the others! I think it’s got the right vibe for me, in that it really matches my emotions & memories of our trips. One visit my daughter even wore an outfit that looks exactly like the jungle floral motif they used.

I went wild with the preorder for the new collections! So happy to see park specific stuff this time! Other than MK. We love HS for Toy Story and Galaxy’s Edge. I’ve been avoiding scrapping a trip because I felt I didn’t have good paper options for that park. So happy to have these coming to me.

Hello friends! This is not strictly a scrappy question, though I will be making a scrapbook or two and will be checking out the recently mentioned collections.
What is the best resource to plan a trip to Disneyland? I am meeting a friend from Canada who has never been and she is so excited! We are probably going in February 2025.
I grew up near Disneyland, visited regularly, friends and family worked there, etc. However, I moved away, haven't been in years, and everything seems very complex with clever planning and timing required. I'm intimidated and don’t even have a clue where to stay because the answer was always "home".
I appreciate any tips 😊

What is the best resource to plan a trip to Disneyland? Sounds like an amazing trip. If you do facebook, that's a good place to start. Find a couple of groups that fit your vibe and start taking notes. You have plenty of time to start making lists of the things you want to see and do. I don't eat meat so for WDW, I follow veg disney types of accounts so I can hear about new foods and what's being offered at the festivals. I use Touring Plans for planning my WDW trips but I don't know how they fare for Disneyland.

So... anyone have any inside tips and tricks for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party by chance? ^.^ Decide what's most important to you, and focus on that, and let everything else be bonus. We had someone who really was interested in rare characters, so we knew getting in line for those as early as possible had to be our main priority. We also decided we'd split up so that not everyone had to wait in those lines if they weren't interested. And while the trick-or-treating can be fun, consider whether or not candy you can buy elsewhere that costs FAR less than the party tickets you have purchased is really how you want to spend a block of time. If it is, then by all means, go for it. But if not, then you can try to get in some other activities while some guests are busy chasing treats. If they are still doing the parade twice, I'd definitely go for watching the 2nd one if possible. There are more people with small kids at the first one, making it more crowded, and again, while all of those people are standing around waiting for the parade, there will be shorter lines elsewhere.

I hadn't considered the candy thing, but that's so smart! Thank you. We are definitely making a "wish list" and planning to be super flexible. I'm also glad we're going after there's been a few other parties so they work out the kinks and we have a better understanding of the VQ and if the new FP/Genie/LL stuff will be available or not. They are doing the parade twice, so we'll hit a ride or something during the 1st one. We are hoping to stay all night, so that is definitely to our benefit, even if I'll be a zombie by 9pm. /laugh

So... anyone have any inside tips and tricks for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party by chance? ^.^ No. I have no tips but I'm going to be there Oct. 3. I'm so excited. It will be my first party. I tried to book my dining today but since we are doing a split stay it only gave me one day. So bummed. So I have to get up at the crack of dawn again. I'll PM you a link to my party plan. We only want to see one character but we want to try to get a few rides in as well as ALL the shows. We will skip the dance parties but we must hit all the shops.

We booked using a Dining Plan deal, so my problem is finding TS places we all want and not taking too much time to do that because usually we are QS and go. I'm sure the heat will hinder us substantially though. I was excited to see the party foods yesterday but not having plant-based options is a bummer for me.
