These papers remind me of a company that left the business awhile back. I forget their name. I never bought their stuff then and am not buying this line. 49th and Market have definitely changed. I'm curious which defunct manufacturer you're referencing...

... I was excited to see Cottagecore, then bummed by the color palette and its similarities to other recent lines. It just wasn't at all what I was expecting from something with that name. ... I was also surprised, given the name of the collection.

... they seemed to have gone a different direction now ... As Chinagirl828 posted in this thread, Katie Pertiet cited 49 & Market "began changing direction & it was not aligning with me" as her reason for ending their licensing relationship this summer after 4 years of working with the company. (ETA: See her last announcement HERE.)

Thanks for your participation in the poll & responses. I'm not a theme scrapper, so I likely would not purchase either option. However, given the hypothetical: If the stamp is solid (meaning it autofills the image, no hand coloring necessary), a single ink color works for the image, & an outline die is available (to avoid detail/fussy cutting), then I would consider the stamp (depending on the additional cost of the outline die). Otherwise, I prefer the die set, assuming it only has a few small pieces (e.g. eyes, mouth, & buttons), for its uniform/dimensional results.

... Recently I've being doing a lot of die cutting and have found that I really enjoy playing with them. Like you, I enjoy/frequently use metal dies (mostly alphas, numbers, labels, tabs, nesting shapes, etc.).

I don't enjoy coloring ... I enjoy basic coloring with colored pencils or art crayons as watercolors on rare occasions that I choose to color an image for a layout but, as a scrapbooker who merely incorporates stamping into scrapping, am not interested in investing time to master the art of it for more polished/professional results.

Stamps only because I have a brother scan and cut. It makes this decision an easy one.

I'm not a theme scrapper but often gravitate to (undecorated) trees, sparkles, & bokeh patterns for holiday layouts.

Trends include feminine aesthetic, butterflies, vintage imagery/colors, retro icons/colors, bookshelves, mushrooms, odd yellows (e.g. mustard, neon) in color palettes, floating icon patterns, strongly themed collections, & IMHO the biggest offender: oversaturation of florals.

... Everything is so incredibly themed- there used to be a lot more generic embellishments - frames, tickets, film strips, leaves, etc., that you could use on any layout. ... Sadly (as a non-theme scrapper), it seems the entire industry is becoming more themed with fewer versatile/non-themed embellishments. For example, most company's cardstock stickers & journaling-focused diecut/ephemera packs used to include generic labels, tabs, etc. in each collection's color palette, which have largely been replaced with themed icons/sentiments (repeated ad nauseam from patterned papers, cardstock/puffy sticker sheets, sticker books, chipboard, washi, various ephemera packs, stamps/dies, etc.).

Thanks for your participation in the poll & responses. I'm among the minority who prefers silver to gold in holiday collections, although I don't use metallics often (perhaps due to the pervasiveness of gold/lack of silver supplies available).

I usually prefer gold but if I’m using blues I’ll go with silver. Is blue the only color (in general, not just holiday palettes) that you prefer with silver?

I love the album and recipe cards. I have a crappy 3-ring binder with printed recipes that I could convert to an actual cookbook. Those items are in my cart for now. Creating a cookbook sounds like a fun winter project!

I love stamps, but colouring and fussy cutting is just as labour intensive...and often not as "perfect" looking... as a pieced together die cut. I also like the dimension of the pieced die cut. ... I agree both options require time & effort, so the decision (in this scenario, where the cost of dies/stamps is equal) ultimately comes down to preferred results - either inherently imperfect/flat of stamping/coloring/fussy cutting (if a coordinating outline die is not available) or uniform/dimensional from die cutting/paper piecing.

I really dislike gold foil so I prefer silver but would also prefer black foil, red foil, blue foil, green foil.. or just No Foil. I wish manufacturers didn't think of it like gold or silver only. Just because I don't like gold doesn't automatically mean I want or expect silver. It means I want "not gold" - which can also mean other colors or no metallic foil. Some colors do not go with silver and other colors do not go with gold. Like when AE tried to use silver in their beach kit for "the people who like silver". That's an example where No Foil is the preferred choice because silver does not look good with that palette of colors/that vibe. Another example is using gold with those cool toned colors in last year's OLW kit - bleh. Just use white ink and no foil! Gold does Not work with every color, it just ruins the product. Related- it feels like there is gold on everything released at Ali Edwards lately every product category has gold on it these days. I have bought very little from their physical releases this year because of this. I miss when black or white was the chosen neutral on things like word strips, tab stickers, transparencies or journal cards - they were a lot more versatile. It's almost like they decided to use yellow on every item. Or glitter on every item. Like imagine if every item in your home decor had some metallic foil on it? It would be so unbalanced. I really hope they back off to using foil like an accent again, e.g. adding to 10% of items or less. While I'm not/never been an AE customer, I also prefer metallics used sparingly or not at all!

Cottage core is lovely especially the little tote But then I have a thing for storage items …🤣 Given how quickly the Project Tote Bag for each collection sells out at online retailers, it appears you're not alone! It does seem odd, however, that enamel dots are only available with the Tote Bag & not sold as a separate item.

Stamps. But I'd be even happier if I had a die to cut it out. Same, since I don't detail/fussy cut.
