... I do like the light purple color in the girl birthday line. ... I am happy when I see a nice purple in a collection. ... Same. I wish it were included more often in collections (& not just stereotypical girl/fairy-related or the occasional Halloween themes).

... I'm not a huge fan of Carta Bella's paper texture. ... Do you dislike linen texture in general (including its solid color cardstock) or just for pattern paper?

Given Colorplay is reportedly Photoplay's in-house brand, I would prefer the company use the same finish or differentiate between their two brands with weights/textures like Echo Park (i.e. Echo Park paper is 65 lb/smooth, while Carta Bella, a brand under the Echo Park umbrella, is 80 lb/linen).

I've been scrapbooking for two decades & had only a QK Squeeze tool (plus a couple versatile QK alphas & basic shapes) before investing in a Sizzix Big Kick a decade ago (which led to the rapid expansion of my QK collection), a Sizzix Sidekick a couple years ago, & a Silhouette Cameo 4 a few weeks ago. ETA: ... Last week I was thrifting again and found a sidekick. I have zero need for this, but it was 3 dollars so I could not leave it behind We shall see if I end up using it at all. I can vouch for the usefulness of a Sidekick for quickly diecutting labels, tags, letters, numbers, etc. Enjoy!

Like Elsabelle , my constant "joy" in scrapbooking is reminiscing about the subject/event/etc. when creating a layout.

Thanks for your responses, & hope you enjoy your hauls! After only buying paper holders & fridge bins for supply storage during the first half of the year, I purchased pattern paper, several stencils, a stamp set, a die, & a Silhouette Cameo 4 this quarter.

Thanks for your responses. I choose not to create special projects, such as One Little Word, Day/Week in the Life, October/December Daily/Documented, Journal Your Christmas, etc., & have a backlog of stories/photos to scrap, so I'm not concerned about the timing of releases. I would, however, appreciate the introduction & availability of versatile, non-themed, white-based, clean, & modern collections in usable color palettes throughout the year.

Not often; I'm a standing scrapper & always put-away-as-I-go (as a stall tactic for time to consider choices in the next step of my layout process, since I'm both creatively-challenged & indecisive!).

Thanks for your responses. I don't gravitate toward this aesthetic, scene & photorealistic patterns, detail/fussy cutting, or chipboard. Nothing from this release is added to my wish list.

If you purchased quality photopolymer stamps, they don’t turn yellow or melty/sticky like cheap acrylic stamps! i decided to go back to clear stamps because they are a cheaper alternative to rubber stamps for for images that i know i won't use over and over again. if i use them for a year or two, i'm good with letting them go after that. i remember when clear stamps first came out. i spent lots of $$ on Technique Tuesday, Autumn Leaves, and other brands. they held up well and i had them for years even though i didn't use them much (some if at all). even they yellowed through time. these days, i'm fine with purging clear stamps after a year or two. perfectly fine with it. if i love the image that much, i will find something similar in a rubber stamp. Note "clear stamps" were originally (i.e. almost two decades ago & including the then-popular Technique Tuesday & Autumn Leaves brands) made of acrylic which eventually turns yellow & melty/sticky as you described. For about a decade now, most scrapbook & stamping companies (American Crafts & its brands are notable exceptions) have made "clear stamps" using photopolymer that does not turn yellow or melty/sticky. If you recently purchased "clear stamps" made of quality photopolymer (check their product descriptions), they will last beyond a few uses & "a year or two." HTH.

... clear stamps even though i swore off them. this time, i won't hang on to them until they are yellow and sticky. that's what turned me off last time. If you purchased quality photopolymer stamps, they don’t turn yellow or melty/sticky like cheap acrylic stamps!

Too much! But, I went to a real store Saturday. ... You're lucky (although I realize your bank account may not agree)! There are no LSSs left here, & I miss the in-person supply shopping experience - perusing entire walls bursting with a rainbow of Bazzill cardstock, aisles filled with multiple racks of patterned papers, pegs full of embellishments & tools, etc. <sigh>[

... My main thought on this topic is that I wish there were a few FAVOURITE lines, more generic, less thematic, that were ALWAYS available. I would use them over and over again. I don't know why our hobby has to "reinvent the wheel". But that would be hard on retailers because they rely on FOMO for sales so much. ... IIRC manufacturers released new product only 2-4 times per year, during the industry's heyday, so each collection was available longer. Customers (excited for their new hobby) complained about the lack of fresh inventory, which prompted retailers to demand & manufacturers to supply the monthly or bi-monthly (every two months) releases that continue today. This also influenced big box retailers, which reset merchandise/displays only twice a year, to produce & stock year round every year their own in-house products (i.e. thin papers/embellishments in generic themes & predictable color palettes) rather than "outdated" designer supplies that customers had likely already bought elsewhere months earlier. The industry has never found a happy medium between popular products that sell out quickly which are rarely or never restocked (at certain online retailers) & those that are rarely or never replaced (at big box stores)...ugh!

I think it's a no-win situation for the companies ... ... it makes sense to have the scrapbook releases line up with the craft supplies in general. I think the better fix than adjusting the timelines would be to have a more consistent supply ... Because right now for the more popular brands, it's feast or famine as coveted items sell out very quickly Agreed. Retailers dictate when/how many months holiday decor will be stocked, whether to reorder, etc. In turn, manufacturers provide & customers shop for product on this timeline. It seems disadvantageous to all parties when retailers choose not to restock popular items &/or manufacturers discontinue them after only one output cycle!

For those who have bought chippies, like what are they like? Easy to color? Sturdy? While I've never purchased them, I've randomly watched a few YT videos (although I don't recall which channel) in which they were among the supplies used: Mintay

In this thread, joblackford wrote: [Shimelle] also mentioned the loooong timeline between the frenzy of designing and the product actually showing up in stores, and alluded to some disconnect between stores and customers, the stores forgetting that people make the pages AFTER they’ve done the thing. I would’ve loved to dig more into that observation. I think she meant that we don’t know what our Christmas photos will look like until after December so selling Christmas supplies July-Nov kind of sets up a situation where people are guessing what they’re going to want and need. What are your thoughts about the timing of releases? TIA.

PaperAngel my boss's supervisor has only been in this role for maybe 4-5 months so there's no way I'm faulting her for not being responsive. I got the feeling after our discussion today that what I shared with her today was merely icing on the cake. She's no dummy and she wasn't totally in the dark about things going on. I decided this morning after seeing what was submitted that the ship is going down and this was my last ditch attempt to save myself until I can find another job. I was unaware the director's manager hadn't been there for the duration of your employment. That certainly changes the dynamic, & looping her into your dilemma was undoubtedly the correct decision. Your input today probably gives her a clearer picture, so she can advise the director on how to manage this situation & properly hold everyone accountable going forward. It will take time but just having the assurance that someone wants to improve the work environment & productivity of the group is encouraging (especially should other opportunities not offer work from home, schedule flexibility, etc. like your current position). Now you can continue to (only) complete your job description knowing that you've done everything possible in your position to improve the situation, & now it's up to management. Wishing you a positive resolution...

Perhaps "pocket card," "3x4 pocket card," "4x6 pocket card," "3x4 life card," "4x6 life card," etc. will yield more results. HTH.

IMHO everything remains status quo. If your coworker was on medical leave over a year ago, unresponsive to the teams she supports post-return, & reports have not been delivered in a timely manner for months, I doubt the director's manager is just learning about this situation today. Yet, she allegedly just contacted HR for guidance on your coworker's medical status (which she should not have even mentioned to you) that's been an issue for over a year! It's no surprise she has poorly managed your director & this problem continues...
Given the director's litany of excuses, perhaps he also cites you - newest employee, no training from outset since established coworker was on medical leave/limited upon return, etc - to his manager as one of the reasons deadlines are not consistently met. Whether intentional or unintentional, your coworker's actions may also imply to others that you report to her, are still learning the job, etc. via copying internal clients on emails instructing you on how to complete tasks she thought were overdue, removing a document from the company server & submitting it without your data, etc.
I suggest continuing to document completion of your job description/division of the group workload (& start posting shared document populated with your data to the server, save onto your hard drive, & send an email to yourself/coworker/director noting its completion/post). Best wishes with your job search!

I purchased a citrus twist album ... Which color did you choose? I like CT's beautiful array of album colors; unfortunately, they're not offered in 12x12. ... and yesterday I found a Simple Stories travel collection paper pad from 2016 at a thrift store for $5... I didn't know Simple Stories made 12 by 12 paper pads, but I guess they did because there was also a wedding one for sale. IIRC the SS 12x12 paper pads were part of the SN@P! (pocket scrapbooking) line previously sold at Hobby Lobby (& subsequently at now-defunct Tuesday Morning).
