Re: The plastic straws. Everyone laughed or bitched when California outlawed plastic shopping bags too but I am all for bringing my own cloth bags. I like environment friendly solutions to plastic and waste. We are trying to go "strawless" but many restaurants just automatically put them in or place them on the table. Even if we don't use them I know they will still be thrown away. My daughter eats lunch regularly at food courts near her work and specifically says "no straws thanks" when she orders her food. Our state was one of the first to offer 10c on cans and ban plastic shopping bags and finally other states are now doing the same. Corinne

I have the site open @missjen , I'm happy to hit Buy Now if you want.....! As a school librarian I order from Scholastic all the time - I can be second in line to try and order it if you aren't successful for whatever reason. I think I ordered these cards last year- definitely have the books. Kids absolutely love them ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Corinne

My husband is Welsh and grew up in a little town just down the road from Tom Jones. I love his music from the 60s along with "Sex Bomb" and an album he did with lots of famous people in the 90's. We saw him in concert 2016 and we loved it. His voice is amazing, stage performance was great. There were a few " biblical" type songs that appeared to be on a recent CD?? but he definitely sang all his old favourites. Definitely go- you will have a great night! During the last few years we have made a real effort to go and see people even if they aren't our absolute favourites. I'll always feel sad that I had tickets for George Michael - he cancelled due to illness and never rescheduled. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) Our Rolling Stones tickets were ALSO cancelled- when his girlfriend died unexpectedly. They DID return months later and it was an amazing concert. Given Neil Diamonds' cancellation in our town right now due to his Parkinson's disease, I'm so glad I saw him a few years ago. Corinne

He was due to perform here, where I live in a few weeks. I saw him 2 years ago and the only reason I did not have tickets for this one was disorganisation. He was going to perform in our beautiful Botanic Gardens. My Dad had Parkinsons- such a debilitating disease. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) Corinne

My husband scuba dives and went diving at a local spot ONE WEEK after, sadly a young marine biologist was taken by a Great White there. I was very paranoid but as he said- he dives there regularly. The truth is, if sharks really saw humans as "prey" we would have a lot more attacks than we do.
Because shark attacks are so horrific and very often younger people (surfers, divers) are the ones taken it is terribly tragic. However our whole country is surrounded by coastline- swim in the ocean, there will be sharks. You may not see them but they are there.
When we go to Fiji my husband goes on a shark dive where they empty a wheelie bin of fish offal and the divers stand in front of a coral bombe and take photos. They get bull sharks which are aggressive but they are too busy eating fish to worry about the divers!
He took our 15yr old grandson cage diving with Great Whites - and he even convinced me to go snorkelling out on Benqua lagoon reef where we saw lots of little reef sharks. That's as far as I shall go though!

If you are on Facebook there is a great page called Mighty Girls. I'm a librarian and I love seeing the wide range of books they promote. Many of them are American authors and topics, but they would be suitable for girls all over the world. I have a nice little wish list going of inspirational books. Many are true stories but there are lots of fiction books also.

We have a TV show here called Bondi Rescue (Bondi being an iconic beach in Sydney) and each week people get into trouble and need to be rescued. Often they are tourists who see the beautiful beach but may come from countries where they haven't had much experience with the ocean and don't realise how dangerous it can be. Even Australians can become complacent about swimming between the flags.
These boys were really lucky- sadly for many others the outcome is very different.

I was making cards the other night and lost my scissors. I hadn't moved from the chair. Found them in the trash. I keep a bin right under my desk and I'm thinking this is what happened to them.

Thanks for sharing that video. I really want one but have only just started to use all the stamps I have bought over the years.
I have a stamping platform and am starting to practice stamping and then will need to work on colouring, which I have never done before. I'm hoping there are some basic how to videos out there to get me started.
But I am not confident in my cutting so I think one of these magic machines will be in my future!
I have a Cameo but haven't really heard as many positive reviews of the Pixi-Scan ?

I have lost 2 ephemera packs- Pawfect by Kaisercraft and Smitten Kittens by Doodlebug. Yes, I see the irony in that they both are cat themed! I have recently started going to a crop every 2 weeks but am working on holiday photos so no reason I would have taken them with me. I have just spent TOO much time going through everything in my craft room looking for them. I had actually convinced myself that I had not bought them after all until I realised that there were a few elements on a layout that did not come off the Pawfect sticker sheet. And then this morning I found the receipt which clearly says I did buy the Smitten Kittens! I have looked everywhere. Good news- I managed to find them both still available from the same website- so $25 later they are now on their way. Bad news- I GUARANTEE they will now turn up! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Corinne

Not only are most of the stories old, but most don't meet the Darwin Awards 'criteria' - They recognize individuals who have supposedly contributed to human evolution by selecting themselves out of the gene pool via death or sterilization by their own actions. It's not just about doing something stupid. I was just about to say this. I wonder if the genuine awards are out yet - or do they give them out at the end of the year? Off to Google. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I remember the guy who used occy straps to make his own bungee jump but didn't measure the distance and made it too long.... and one where the guy kept a loaded gun by his bed and when the phone rang in the middle of the night he picked up the gun by mistake and shot himself. I just joined a Facebook group called Bash your Stash. I am determined to use up lots of my old stuff, which I still love. I have hoarded lots of favourite paper but am getting better at just using it for a layout rather than it sitting on the shelf! I also have lots of 6 x6 pads that I would like to use at least once. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I am really enjoying seeing a regular selection of everyday layouts from people in the same situation. I think a lot of them are aiming for 365 layouts for the year. I have completed 20 so far so I think I am doing well. Of course I am on holidays so expect that number to drop next month. I did manage 166 last year so my aim is to at least make that goal. I'm also going to be a bit brave and upload some of the my layouts there too! Corinne

Adorable! I love Doodlebug, and it's been one of my favorite scrapbook companies since way back in 2003/2004. I still have some of their little shaped buttons. I still have a nice little stash of their paper frills- I use them still but they don't seem to be running out! I love their stickers and still buy them any time I see them. I use my Cameo for most lettering but nothing beats reaching for the Doodlebug letter stickers! Corinne

I have recently started crafting with a group of ladies who did this 2 yrs ago and are going again in March. I've never been on a big cruise ship before so I'm a bit reluctant at this stage. Also it's several thousand dollars for 9 days which I would probably rather spend on a holiday with my husband! I attended a 3 day camp with them and these are things I picked up about their plans- main focus seemed to be on packing lightly. They do have a room they can use for the entire cruise so they can leave all their stuff set up. - they are sharing some bigger tools - taking pre-stamped, pre- prepared projects to do - last time they had specific specialist classes but have decided not to as it tied people down to a particular time. - this time having two short card/travel project classes available, but it is mainly being promoted as "do your own thing" so people can go and crop when they want or hang out at the pool. Most of the people who went last time are returning again and they were all very positive about it. Make sure you come back and tell us all about it- who knows I might be persuaded to try it next time! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Corinne

Your card is so pretty. I would love to make stamped cards but am useless at fussy cutting- yours looks perfect! I need it to be simple to use. Still haven't done many print and cuts on my Cameo. Corinne

Yes, I’ve used it. It’s really nice. I like the brown because it’s softer and kind of has a beachy, shabby chic or vintage feel. You can also diecut it with an electronic cutter or thin dies and distress the cut edges so the color shows more. I cut wide frames, embossed them with a polka dot embossing folder and distressed both the edges and the polka dots. It turned out really cute. I have several polka dot embossing folders so I will definitely try this. Maybe I might try and die cut some titles and emboss them. Thanks!

A sarong. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) It's cooled down now after a hot day. Tomorrow my state is on high alert for catastrophic bushfires as the temperature is expected to be 41 Celsius (105 F) Some parts of Australia are expected to reach 45 Celsius- fingers crossed no bushfires. We will be staying inside with the air conditioner on and all our curtains and blinds closed. Corinne

I am sorting my craft room out and have come across a brand new pad of Core dinations cardstock. It appears that there are 20 sheets of various brown shades - BUT on the other side are different colours. According to the pack you place chipboard letters under the cardstock and sand over them? The pretty colour comes through the brown. There is only one dodgy example on the pack which doesn't inspire me much! Has anybody ever used this? I'm prepared to take pad apart and just use as regular cardstock if necessary- just thought some creative person may have some ideas. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Thanks Corinne

Now that I have a stamp platform, I am making it a goal to use some stamps! I have a reasonable collection that have rarely (let's be honest, most of them NEVER been used!) so that is my goal this year.
I spent today tidying my craft room and really need to get rid of stuff. I have lots of embellishments I will likely never use, so I am hoping to spend a little time each week sorting through and purging lots of stuff.

I have downloaded a travel one and it appears red on the computer. I thought I would be able to change the colours? I haven't used dingbats before so I know nothing!! I have quite a few on my wishlist and as everything is 50% want to make sure I would use these before I download any more.
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated-thanks!

Me too! After scrapping at home alone for many years, I recently went on a 3 day retreat which has now led to me going to a 6pm-12am crop once a month. It really makes a difference - I have tidied my room, sorted photos and paper and now have a nice selection of page kits made up ready to go. Because I journal on the computer and use my Silhouette for titles and embellishments, I usually spend the evening designing pages and sticking down paper and photos. Now I have two piles at home- one for journaling and one for adding all the final touches! Corinne

I think the "unavailable right now" message refers to the free kit offer we ran the first weekend of the month. You should be able to put the item in your cart and check out just fine, but if not, email stacey@scrapbookgeneration.com and she can fix just about anything! ALLISON DAVIS 6X6 PAPER PADS 2I think it was to do with Paypal. I ended up using my credit card instead and now am just waiting for a manual verification before my download is sent to me. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I don't know what the time difference is - it is currently 7.50pm here on Sunday 10th December but it was only 12pm on 9th December when I ordered. I'm trying to order mine right now- but is says unavailable right now? I will try again soon- I have the day free today and would love to start some planning for a crop next Friday night. Fingers crossed the glitch will be fixed soon. I love E-Books, when I first ordered these sketch books I had to wait several weeks to get them. ( all the way to Australia!) I keep buying more 6 x 6 paper pads as I find them such an easy way to co-ordinate patterns.
