Iced Tea

Joy tea from Starbucks makes excellent iced tea (RIP, joy tea, you were my absolute favorite in the world). There's a tea blend called Rev Up that is so outstanding with Peach Tranquility. Order a tall cup with those two teas put into the same cup, let it steep for 5-10 minutes before you pull the bags out (any longer and it'll taste bitter), and pour it over a big cup of ice (trenta is perfect). I like it a bit sweet so if you like, add a couple pumps of liquid cane sugar (4 is good for me).

I'm sorting through my DD stash and apparently I loved the Paislee Press kit from 2017 so much, I barely touched it. :X Anybody in love and need it? I've got 9 of the 6x8 pages, 3 of the 4x6, 10 of the 3x4, the full chipboard, and 2 of the clear acetate 3x4 cards. Good grief. [insert face smashing emoji or meme] For anyone feeling FOMO, check your stash first, because apparently I have DD buying amnesia. I would love this! I haven't bought anything this year because her kit sold out so fast. Nothing else has appealed to me at all. If it's available, shoot me a pm. ❤

"and that he could return the favor at some point once he had recuperated."
Maybe this statement is the reason he opted to have his kid drive herself back. Speaking for myself, I would not like it for anyone to feel that I owed them for a "favor" I never asked for, especially from someone I've never met or spoken to. It would just make me want to keep my distance permanently. But I'm antisocial.

This is so good: vanilla bean frappuccino, add a banana, add 3 pumps of almond butter, only one scoop of vanilla bean powder, only 1 pump of base (you're cutting out all the sugar by doing this, and the banana will keep the smooth texture), add strawberry puree to the bottom of the cup.
Tastes like a pb&j ❤
Also good, that zesty chicken quinoa salad witha side of avocado spread. It's like $10, but it's so delicious, and even better when it's free!

He needs a palliative care team involved. This is not the same as hospice. With palliative care, he may continue life prolonging and life saving treatment as long as he desires. Palliative care works to find solutions to improve the quality of his life. This is exactly what they do. We can come up with all the suggestions we want, but none of us have seen the nature of his tumor burden in his abdomen. The palliative care team will have access to that information and will know what can and cannot be done as well as what is most likely to help him. So many people fear involving palliative care because they think it means end of life care. It does not. This is the perfect thing to tell him. We have an appointment with palliative care this week and he's bumming hard about it.

Definitely don't walk. You'll regret that decision. If you insist upon it, bring an umbrella to shade yourself from the sun.
It's the worst time of year to visit Houston, but it's a great city and I hope you get to see some of it while you're here!

Have the doctors mentioned inserting a Jejunostomy tube(feeding tube that goes directly to the small bowel area). It bypasses the digestive tract, so that might help w/the pain. Also, there is an intrathecal pump for pain. It's implanted underneath the skin and the meds target the area of pain. I only have a numbing agent in my pump, but it can hold many different types of pain meds, too. It You get the pain relief w/o the heavy symptoms of an oral pain med or patch. 's very minor surgery. Intrathecal pumps were developed for people with back pain, etc. However, they are also used for pancreatic cancer patients and now dysmotility and other types of abdominal pain. It might be worth checking into. HTH. That actually sounds like a great option, one that he will be very okay with. I'll find out if this is an option for him, thank you so much for sharing with me.

One thought, when DH had this feeling, it turned out a tumor was pressing on his duodenum. He had a stent placed to keep it open. That helped tremendously. Has your dad had a scan of that area? He had a full pet scan which prompted the biopsy, but maybe we can ask about a more specific scan for the abdomen area, and I will certainly ask if a stent is an option. What a great suggestion, thank you.

Background: Dad has diffuse large b cell lymphoma. It originally was follicular lymphoma, refractory to all treatments, then it transformed. He was then given Yescarta, but unfortunately did not get the results we hoped for and some of the cancer lingered in his abdomen. So there's nothing else the doctors can offer him at this time, and they recommend hospice.
Question: the cancer in his abdomen is causing him discomfort that prevents him from eating. He gets pain whenever he ears or drinks anything. He describes the pain as when you drink too much water too fast. Though he's only taken a few sips of water, it feels as though he's drank a gallon. Does anyone have experience with this kind of pain? What, if anything, allowed you to eat without pain or with minimal discomfort? We want to shy away from pain medicine if at all possible, because he's already on methadone on a scheduled basis, and has tramadol and dilaudid on an as-needed basis but he hates taking it and pretty much refuses because of the side effects.

We were paying $170/mo for our satellite package, and now we're paying $40 for the directv now app. We also have Netflix, HBO, and HULU, but we are still WAY ahead in savings. No complaints except we do miss the DVR feature.

I've been using a small Bodum French Press for years now and it's the fastest, simplest way to make a great cup of coffee. I like it for several reasons. I can choose any brand of coffee I like. The size I have makes 2 big mugs of coffee-just enough for me. I drink one, then refill the second and microwave it to heat it up. I can wash it out very quickly by hand and it's ready to use again. It's a glass carafe and stainless steel so it's healthy. The coffee we're currently drinking comes from Whole Foods (where I do our weekly grocery shopping) and is a locally roasted brand of organic coffee (organic because I want the healthiest version I can buy, and actually it's not anymore expensive than Starbucks coffee). I'm sorry but I can't remember the name. It's very smooth, is a more middle of the scale coffee (not dark, not light) and has a hint of chocolate. We love it. I buy the beans and we grind it at home. I drink it black with a teaspoon of raw sugar. 1000% second the recommendation of a french press. It's not a significant amount more work than the reusable k cup filter (really, just boiling the water is the only extra step), but the difference in quality and experience is DRAMATIC.

If we’re staying somewhere for a week, I don’t want to eat out every single meal. We usually have breakfasts at the rental house and I might cook a couple of simple dinners. It was actually really fun in Paris to go to the grocery and shop the unfamiliar versions of foods. Eating out is just my lifestyle, I think. It would probably be different if I had a family, but if it's just me and my guy or me and a friend, we're definitely eating out. I love cooking, but it just isn't something I would want to do on vacation, except maybe for a cooking class perhaps. I would rather be out wandering and looking for the next best place to grab a bite.

At the top of the list. Why would I ask if it was okay for me to leave and come back only to be kicked back to the bottom of the wait list? That would be ridiculous.
