Now that it's mid year how is everyone doing on their spending goals? Ugh. I need to go back in the freezer. I had picked up a few subs in April/May, and canceled those for June. But, Ali Edwards sales last week caught me. And Pinkfresh Studio’s sales. So now I’m officially jumping back in the freezer, ideally for the rest of the summer, but at least through after the independence holiday. I’m shooting for another 50 pages before another big purchase. I’m weak.

It usually takes me about an hour to do a layout. Sketch four took me only 27 minutes! I have a video going up on Saturday. Wow! That’s quicker than I think I could do a page. Love the Disney!

OK, I'm caught up to week 4. That sketch threw me - I love it, but I like larger photos. Ended up here, creating my own watercolour squares and not loving them LAYOUT SWEET THINGS by kirstendrew, on Flickr I think the watercolor squares turned out great!

I’m behind. The size of the fb group is a little overwhelming, so I hesitate to venture in there. Also, I’m trying to finish up my Christmas journal first, wish is the main reason I haven’t jumped in yet. I took the first class in the initial round and was able to keep up, finishing all the sketches and even doing a few twice. i loved it! The thing that helped me was that I decided to pick a theme and stick to that for almost all of my pages. I want to do that again, but deciding on the theme has led me to a little analysis paralysis. I think once I finish my Christmas, and can clean all those supplies off my desk, I’ll be ready to jump in! (I also signed up for Shimelle’s half and half, and haven’t done anything with that yet either.) For what it’s worth, don’t let the size of the group keep you from enjoying the class. Like every other Facebook group I’m a part of, the percentage of people who actually participate is nowhere near the full enrollment. I’ve been getting better at being able to quickly skim through the weekly project albums to see everyone’s projects. 😀 Thanks Debbie! One of the things I loved about last time was scrolling through the albums to see everyone’s take. So inspiring!

(I changed my name awhile ago because it was just my college login from way back when which was random letters and numbers and had no meaning lol... not sure why I thought that would be a good name to sign up with ha) kimba thank you! I always wondered what significance lasteve was. LA Steve? Last Eve? 😉

Dye inks are usually too splotchy and don’t give very good impressions. I prefer pigment inks for good images, bit they do take longer to dry. I like AE’s hybrid inks, and really liked the Black until the pad sort of chemically melted. I picked up Catherine Pooler ink pad, but haven’t really played with it much. Are hybrids always labeled as such? I thought CP only had dye inks. Good question - I’m not sure. The CP inks say Dye, but I haven’t tried them out yet. My comment on dye inks is based on SC and KP-HA inks, which all have the felt pad instead of foam. Maybe foam makes the difference? I know the main difference is dye inks soak in and dry quickly, and can activate with water (great for using for watercolor or smooshing techniques), and pigments sit on top and dry slowly - giving vibrant colors and great for powder embossing. I like hybrids because they give the better coverage but dry faster.

For my tools, I use two things: 1. A cheap plastic pencil box - in it I keep a bone folder, stamping blocks, ink pads (my most used), small scissors, liquid glue, ink dauber, eraser, pick up square, pens, glue dots (on a sheet), scraps of white cardstock for stamping small images like labels, tweezers, long needle for piercing, post-it pad (to note the things I want to add to a LO but didn’t bring). It’s a lot, but it all fits. When I’m at the crop, I have it open on my table, with the paper, glue dots, and scissors flipped in the lid. 2. Totally Tiffany Ditto tote - I keep punches, Nuvo, ink pads, mists, paint, brushes, tiny attacher, pens/pencils, ruler, stencils, and 4x6 iris cases with dies, embellishments, stamps, or whatever else I can keep in those. It really holds a lot (and can get heavy, if you put a lot of punches like I do). The other advantage of this tote is that it opens up, so you can place it on your table to stake out your border and prevent encroachers! I always seem to be near someone who likes to expand their stuff into my space, so I try to have items to help prevent that, like this tote. I also take a metal fold-up rack to put things on and under - plus this also helps me mark my space. 😉 For other embellishments, I use a Sterlite stack and carry container like this one. I mainly use it for project-specific stuff. These are great because if you have multiples, you can keep snapping on more. I sit this on my rolling cart and use a luggage strap to hold it on while transporting. Have fun at your crop!

I canceled one of my monthly kits. I need to use up some of what I have. Good job. I need to do the same. I canceled all but my Elle’s Studio kit, but I need to stop shopping and make a dent in my stash! All the recent sales sucked me in, so I need to get strict with myself and stop bringing in new product.

My cutterbees are sticky. What’s the trick to cleaning them up? I use a Pick Up Square (adhesive remover) and clean the blades with that. Sometimes I will use a cloth with Un-Du to clean them.

I love your layouts jeremysgirl! My photos are always a random mix of everything. This year I picked one collection (Simple Stories Hello Today) and am using it for all my spreads, along with a kit of supplies (old PL cards, papers, etc.) that I have pulled to coordinate. Using the coordinated supplies is helping me to feel like my pages look more cohesive, even with the mishmash of photos. I'm also embracing all sizes and orientations of page protectors and filler cards to help hide any gaps. I have finished through to the end of March in my album and have all my April photos printed, but I caved and ordered some stamp sets from Studio Calico that I want to use on my April spreads, so those are on hold pending delivery of that package. If I get some time I might map out which photos will go in pockets and which will get layouts. April was a busy month with tons of photos, so a bit out of the norm for me in a good way. Overall I am super happy with my album, and I think being very loose with my ideas of what each month should contain is helping me to just push forward and get it done. Do you put your layouts in the same album as your PL pages?

Well, right now, I’m waiting because it was delivered while I still have some work meetings going on. However, I’m thinking about waiting until closer to the class—treating it like a birthday present and waiting until closer to the event to open it. It’s just a weird way I’m wired I guess. I understand waiting for the excitement, but I’d open it now to make sure you got everything - it would be a bummer to have something missing and it not get to you by the day of the event. (ETA Assuming you know what’s supposed to be coming.)

Today's deal is called Palm Springs and needing California themed stuff I was excited until I saw it. Flamingos do not say Palm Springs to me. It is way too tropical as in Florida, the Caribbean or Hawaii. So it's a no from me. I totally agree! I really like it and think I could get a lot of use out of it, but it does not say anything about CA to me really, besides some palm trees. It is very Florida and tropical. That said, I really like that 6x6 pad and the palm tree washi. www.peachycheap.com/Maybe they were going for Palm Springs, Fla. and not CA?

I really like the colors! I’m also happy to see a tent - usually wilderness stuff has campers, and we tent camp. Also, what is a “camper van”? Is it a camper? RV? A VW bus/van? Mystery Machine? Never heard something called a camper van before. A VW van. Mercedes makes a version now. I’m sure there are others but I’m no expert. Thanks!

The key is redundancy and consistency. A backup is meant to safeguard your files from just up disappearing on you, but it is only a safeguard if your system updates your data on all backups regularly and that there are enough redundant places to guard against disasters like a fire, floods, or even just a hard drive dying. This is a perfect explanation. Here is my backup process: iPhone photos - I upload to Amazon photos via an app and also upload to Shutterfly once a week. I also backup my phone to my iMac once a month or so and the photos also get backed up to an external hard drive (actually 2 external hard drives because in my former life I was a network administrator in charge of backing up all the servers in my company and losing data makes me twitchy). iMac/Macbook pro - I backup both to external hard drives and every 4-6 months I backup any data stored (anything not a photo) to an online backup (Amazon, Office 365 and Dropbox). I don't have a lot of non-photo data that changes so I don't back that stuff up as frequently as photos. I have tried Google photos and it works fine, but I'm happy with Amazon and Shutterfly for my backups and don't feel the need for another right now. I also use Amazon Photos as my cloud backup - it’s free for Prime members. Google photos makes me nervous because they seem to discontinue services a lot as they lose interest and move on to something different (I can name several Google services I used and loved that they decided to stop supporting). I also back up to 2 EHDs.

Obtrusive, impulsive, and unreliable? That gemini stamp has everything I need! These colors take me back to Heidi Swapp's Favorite Things PL kit -- I think it's mainly that bold lime green. I do love that Life in Color card though! See, as a Gemini I was a bit offended by the Obtrusive and Unreliable! Judgmental, indecisive, yes, but unreliable and obtrusive? Not exactly sentiments I see myself using. And why the big blob? Looking closer at the full Gemini stamp and comparing it to the others, I’m even more irked. It doesn’t list “air sign” or “Mercury” like the others do, and it has far more of the negative traits than the other signs’ stamps do. I’m really disappointed, because I was looking forward to this one, but it’s a no go for me.

My May goals: •finish my 2020 JYC/DD •Back up my photos Feb-Apr •Finish some UFOs ✔️•Participate in WITL and at least get photos and notes •Start All About Me album/TN •I’d really like to complete 31 pages Well, I ended up doing a bunch of Spring cleaning and organizing, and not as much scrapping this month. I did get photos and notes for WITL and some JYC/DD layouts completed, but didn’t finish the book yet. I’ll be pushing these goals forward to June!

aliedwards.com/shop/my-story-starter-kitAm I weird, because I am honestly considering the kids kit as I have no kids? But I really like the blue 3x8 Album. With the Memorial20 discount its at 16$, and 13$ international shipping is not tooo bad. Actually I’m playing the how much is the shipping when I add some embellishments or stamps to the cart. Thanks for posting this - I totally missed this kit on sale when I browsed the shop. I picked this up (mainly for the album, but the bright colors are nice and some of the other items would be usable for me), plus I had to pick up a few more things to make it worth the effort. 😉

I added an album and noticed the 20% didn’t work - the fine print says albums and protectors are excluded. But I did pick up the 3x8 green linen album marked down, so still a pretty good price. I was please that with the sale prices plus the 20% code, the deals are actually decent this time. It does look like they’ve continued to add items to the sale, because a bunch of DD stiff showed up after I had scrolled through the whole list. ETA: the DD bundles from HSN have been added too. Yes, in typical Inked fashion, everything was not pushed out to the sale on time. Also, I was told I could only use the code once. Well that sucks! I was going to look at digitals after I made my physical purchase.

...Joann Fabrics - 10 papers for $2... Buyer beware! Signage in the aisle marks loose paper at 8/$2 & rings up at $0.25/sheet. I only bought 20 sheets of Bazzill (since none of the Joann stores within a 200 mile radius are designer destinations & therefore no new AC lines are stocked). Not only did the clerk have to scan each sheet individually, but also change each one to $0.20 in accordance with the published 10/$2 doorbuster deal. Thanks for pointing that out - my email from them said 10/$2 online 8/$2 in stores, which I did think was weird.

There weren’t a whole lot of items added to the sale section, unless I checked out too soon. I did pick up a previous June SBTM Kit, the Filled in Quote Stamps (new), and the Mixed 6x8 alpha - all 20% off. I tried adding the WITL album bundle, but that wasn’t 20% off. Oh well! Someone booboo'd. I will have to find the papers around here. That's all i was really wanting. I dont need/use the extra accoutrements lol I have helped myself feel better by buying some new hero arts from my favourite online lss Dear Peachy Cheap Customer, This email is concerning your Peachy Cheap order for the My Minds Eye Gingham Foundry Kit that we featured on Monday 05/24/2021. Unfortunately, there was a very large error on My Minds Eye end, and we are unable to complete your order. We had ordered this kit from My Minds Eye, and they were supposed to send us a certain amount of items, but they didn't send us enough. We did get in contact with them; they realized the error, but they informed us today, that they do not have the rest of items that we need to complete this Kit. Sadly we will have to cancel and refund your order. Our sincerest apologies. We will issuing refunds today, in the order they were received. If you paid with your PayPal account, The refund will credit directly to your PayPal account within 1-4 business days, and you should also receive an email from PayPal with the details of the refund. If you paid with your CC/Debit card account, The refund will credit to your CC/Debit Card account within 1-7 business days, and will show on your statement as a credit from Peachy Cheap, so keep a look out for that. We are super disappointed and frustrated about the MME error, and we know that you are too. But sadly there is nothing that we can do. We sincerely apologize and, as always, we greatly appreciate your time, patience and business with us, and we hope you have a great day. Ok, I get that they are sorry and refunded you which they should. But it kind of bugs me that they took orders without having kits in hand. So they were waiting on their order to fill orders. It's not like you were pre ordering something (like if ACOT says it is pre ordered, you know you have to wait and if somethings goes awry, uh oh...) you placed an order thinking they had the items to send out. Just kind of grrrrr...which is always my feeling with PC somehow. Good point! It also bugged me a little how they so fully hoisted the blame on MME.

I bought it too and my stamp has already shipped. I haven’t downloaded anything yet though. Considering it’s a 6x8 stamp, which are usually priced at $24, the bundle is a great deal. With the sub discount on top of the bundle, I couldn’t pass it up!
