Welcome back to this side joblackford ! Did you get out of the airport in Hawaii at all? That is definitely on my bucket list of places to visit. Thanks for leading this quarter. My plans this quarter are to - finish my 2017 december daily; continue working on Florida trip photos and start scrapping that album (meaning, 3 albums, I'm sure!); decide on the crochet pattern for my blanket and get to work! I absolutely can figure out lots of challenges (use a mickey head; scrap a travel theme layout/card; work on a project under 12x12 in size; scrap photos older than 5 years...) that will work with my plans. Sounds like you have some great plans ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Tell us more about this crochet blanket! I love making Attic24 blankets because they don't require much thought or planning, just repetitive hooking. I have two kits waiting for me but I have to finish my Dune blanket first. We have family in Honolulu so we get to go there most years. It's a very cool place, especially if you can get out of touristy Waikiki. We had to stay overnight with the fam on this trip because of flight connections, but even without leaving the airport it's a great place to transit. The airport is mostly pretty vintage, but that means you can go outside and get a little sun and air during a layover, def helps to revive and stretch between long flights. I can never go back to changing planes at SFO or LAX. Managed to stay up until 10pm yesterday and up at 7:30 this morning. I'm starting to feel more human again ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

We’re back from our Kiwi Christmas trip. There was a flag down the street from our unit: Kiwi Christmas by jo.blackford, on Flickr We’re exhausted but there are lots of photos and stories to put in the book. I’m looking forward to processing the trip and the holiday season now that I have some quiet time and space. So glad to have DayOne to hold all of my notes, even if I’m a bit haphazard with the journaling when we’re traveling.

I’m home, just need to guesstimate how much crocheting I did while we were away to finalize my total. I’m glad I figured out the rest of the points before we left. I was already exhausted from jet lag and 2 weeks traveling with relatives, the flights home were the final nails in the coffin. Thank goodness I get some peace and quiet today. I’m looking forward to laundry, eating on a predictable schedule, watching some crafty and organizing videos, and not having to talk to anyone. Once my brain catches up a bit I can start working on digiscrapping the holidays.

This is why I’m brain-energy-deficient today. I was already exhausted from 2 weeks traveling with family but crossing the dateline on NYE is just trippy. We arrived home at almost exactly the same time as we left, just before the calendar turned to 2024. I offer apologies in advance for all the mistakes I make today! http://instagram.com/p/C1kASqJLIxu

When I found out that Elise Cripe’s Get to Work Book was going away I bought 3 of the undated ones to last me for a few years. I plan messily with a marker and a pen, no stickers because I shred and compost the pages at the end of the year. I like a Monday start weekly and I mostly just use it for to do lists. I need the flexibility to make a lot of messy lists because I never do the things I intend to do on the days I first write them down.

I took a few photos of the gifts under the makeshift tree, then we went to someone else’s family Christmas (4 generations, cousins I barely know) so we only snapped a few pictures. We got a couple with our group together, almost everyone represented, but none of the entire gathering. I’ll have to see if my mother got anything that captures the chaos. I can work with what I got though. Sometimes having too many photos makes it more difficult for me to scrap.

I have the HA one, and find some places more difficult to stamp than others. Even reinking and restamping doesn't get to all the areas. Thinking about getting one of those tools you hold in your palm to extend pressure over it's lid. Cathy Z uses one alot. Does anyone know what that is called? I don’t think there’s one generic name for it - most often I think they’re called a pressure tool, but a lot of brands use their own name for it. I made one with a lid from a Yankee Candle jar - just glue a round of felt to the bottom. I think there are other DIY versions too but again, a lot of people call them different names. A piece of wood covered in felt with a doorknob attached?

I definitely need to work on this more in the new year. I was on FB today, and saw a post in an AE group where someone had used Laura W's stamp storage idea to combine the months from the AE SBTM stamp sets onto one page. I currently use the Jennifer McGuire stamp storage system, but I don't have anything cataloged. I've watched lasteve1 's video on her stamp inventory binder. I'm torn between the Laura W system, as I could get rid of images I will never use (here's looking at you, AE handwriting and the overuse of the word story) and I would have like items together, and inventorying the stamps I have into a binder like Linda uses. I suppose the prudent thing would be to do the inventory first, and then think about Laura's system, because once I do that, there's no going back. I suppose it is a good thing KP is ending her subscription and closing her shop (at least from what I can tell). It will mean I am not adding to my stamp supplies! I’m all for being prudent, doing non-destructive edits and all that, but the idea of getting rid of eleventy billion versions of the word STORY sounds very tempting to me! Having like items together could also help with knowing what to buy and not to buy. But I guess either system could achieve that.

Merry Christmas to everyone. Oh, so many stories this year. DH sick since the 20th. Clogged toilet, toilet water supply line broke, water everywhere, turkey did not thaw in the fridge, at all. For 10lbs 48+ hours should have been plenty. Thank goodness our sons were here, they have been awesome. Oh no!! That’s a Christmas to remember but not much fun while you’re living it. I hope you have some things to laugh about later. And that your luck turns soon!

How is A Not So Royal Christmas? I'm not usually too into those royal movies. I like regular people. That’s the one with Will Kemp, right? It was OK. He’s only pretending to be royal so it’s more of a fish out of water story. I didn’t watch it closely but unless you really hate royal stuff or the actors I’d say give it a shot. I much prefer regular people pretending to be royal than royal people pretending to be regular.

It’s possible they didn’t drop it off at the post office, but more likely the post office has received it and hasn’t scanned it. Sometimes things can sit for a long time before they start getting processed, especially at big busy post offices. Or on occasion things never get scanned/updated but are moving through the system as intended. Good luck! That can be very frustrating for the buyer (gah!! I feel your pain) and the seller (who can’t really do anything about it or prove that they dropped it off).

kitbop I updated my points tally on the normal thread up to the 17th, just in case I don't get back to the boards in time to contribute my totals. We're flying back 12/31 but preparing for craziness just in case. I'm not sure if I'll be online much for the next 2 weeks (she says, and then probably spends even more time than usual online! lol)

I wish I could link to the judging knitting on TV/film account sleepingbooty but it was one of those ones that IG a suggested to me for a while but I never followed and now can’t find. I have no idea what tags she used but I don’t think IG cares about us finding things for ourselves any more. Does anyone else know this series of reels? Sorry to hear you had a bad time with the vaxx. We got Moderna this time, I believe.

I am not much into the Hallmark movies, but I did watch Round and Round because I love time loop movies and I am also Jewish (although I do Christmas for the vibes). It was okay, but I have to say it was very stereotypical and kind of mocking of Jewish people with the stereotypes... I feel like that wouldn't fly for some other minority groups. So wasn't super thrilled with that as a Jew from New York. On Christmas Eve, we're planning on watching "It's A Wonderful Knife" and I'm pretty excited about that movie... anyone else watch that here? As far as reading, I just started a holiday romance last night "A Winter in New York" and I'm also working on a Christmas themed puzzle, so really trying to soak up all the feels. This year hasn't felt super festive, between drama with my daughter (just went through a break-up, she's been sick, she didn't do well first semester at college, etc.) and lots of work stress, but I'm focusing on finding small joys and keeping up with this project is itself bringing cheer to my season. Ugh, that’s a bummer! Sorry to hear that your daughter is having a rough time of it. I’m glad to hear that DD is helping with the seasonal cheer. I missed Round and Round but sounds like it’s not worth a watch. The Hanukkah movies on Hallmark have been pretty hit or miss. Not planning to watch Its a Wonderful Knife (let us know how that goes) but I just heard there’s a Norwegian Netflix movie Christmas As Usual. I’m going to try and watch that this weekend.

I did it! I finally started my Christmas album! I managed to get three pages done before I had to get ready for DH’s work Christmas party. I did remember to get a photo in front of the tree there too. I decided to forgo matching events to day numbers. My first photo didn’t happen until the 8th but it felt good to start off right away with it being out of order. I’ve never done it like that. I’m just going to date the pictures. That little detail has me all fine with being out of order. Phew! I even managed to print some additional photos to work on today. This is the first real scrapbooking I’ve done since brain surgery on Halloween. All on my own and feeling creative finally. Another surgery is scheduled for tomorrow but it’s just to reposition the shunt in my nomenclature so hopefully it won’t take away my mojo. Thank you to everyone who offered words of support about starting so late. Having zero creative desire staring me in the face was hard. I kept reminding myself that others hav been in this boat and still finished. Thank you. I’m so happy to hear this! Starting is the hardest part but hopefully you have some momentum going now ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Hoping that the next surgery does the trick. I hate to think of you being in so much pain with all you do.

We're watching Krampus vs Santa (and various elves) wrestling matches tonight... Should be fun! Like in real life? I need to move. YES!! You should move here I'll post photos when I can. I took a lot, but it was on a dark street corner so they're not the best. But it was really fun. We didn't really know what to expect, but it was really silly fun.

I'm pretty satisfied with what I'm doing so I'll keep going. - My main memory keeping project is a square blurb book I work on monthlyish and print for family and us at the end of the year. This past year I kept up with it better but didn't do as much scrapbooky stuff in it. I also took way fewer photos this year and that was OK. - DayOne journal for actual journaling, photos optional. (Digital, cloud based) - making lots of cards to donate ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) - moving old film photos from CDs onto EHDs and Lightroom. I got stopped on that when one jammed in the drive, but I eventually got it out, just didn't get restarted doing the project. - sticker journal for bits and bobs that come my way - stickers, cute packaging or ephemera, etc. It fills up very slowly and I love it.

Thanks for posting that video pinkladyI like several of the instructors but one glance at the kit contents was enough for me. Nothing was bold enough for me to see clearly, which means it’s not my style. I’m just not keen on small stamps (or stamping lately). I’m trying very hard to stick to my own style to avoid accumulating things I won’t use. Good instructors though, so it should be a fun time for those who join ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

I don't see koi fish or lily pads as something I wouldn't use on a masculine card either. Koi are actually a symbol of masculine strength in Japan - swimming upstream takes a lot of energy which apparently is a male characteristic. On Boys Day 5/5 Japanese people fly carp banners for their male family members. www.hawaiimagazine.com/got-koinobori-its-boys-day-in-hawaii-2/ETA: no one should pay attention to my opinion on the class since I'm a cheapskate who doesn't really do classes! I should just scroll on by, but I gotta put my 2 cents in for some reason ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)
