UPDATE: The heaviest of the rain has very slowly moved on from Port Arthur. It is still raining now and will for some time to come throughout SE Texas/SW Louisiana.
About 2 AM CDT - The major news sources have focused heavily on Houston and its immediate surroundings during Hurricane Harvey. Beaumont has been mentioned, but Port Arthur, Port Neches, Groves, Nederland and other areas even closer to the Gulf Coast than Beaumont is have been virtually ignored.
The whole area was pounded by the outer band of Hurricane Harvey the entire time it sat over Houston with even heavier rain today. The highways out of the county, Jefferson County, were closed earlier today with the exception of I10 eastbound, but even the access roads to the highway were flooded.
It's still raining at an incredible rate. It's late at night. There are fires. Homes are flooding and people are extremely desperate.
They could use all the prayers we can give them.
Thank you.

Knee Deep Water is not an emergency.
They are at the point where roof rescues are the priority.

This is not comprehendable to most of us and I can only imagine the terror and vulnerability these people are feeling. Other than donating money I feel so helpless, so prayers are the least I can offer. I'm so, so sorry.

Other than donating money I feel so helpless, so prayers are the least I can offer. I'm so, so sorry. Thank you. People are being told to find anything that can float. I listened to a call where a man described in detail how he had to tell a trapped woman in 4 feet of water to take everything out of her deep freezer, put some blankets in, and get in because it will float. The major news channels and even the weather channel are not getting this news out. The scope of the disaster will only begin to be seen once daylight comes. Too bad there are no major news people there to show it.

The Bob Bowers Civic Center in Pt. Arthur that is being used as a shelter has taken on water. People sheltering there are sitting up in the bleachers.
It's still raining, but the worst has finally passed.

Prayers are still needed.
While the very worst of the rain is over, the rain amount is still very high. Harvey has been moving at a snail's pace and the water on the ground is just piling up higher.

It's 4:33 in the morning. KFDM in Beaumont is saying to do what you need to do to stay alive. Period.
They think that every home in Port Arthur has some degree of flooding.

LIVE: Rescues have been ongoing all night. The list for rescue is about 300 for Port Arthur at this time. They are asking people to only call in once. Multiple calls are coming in for the same addresses making prioritizing more complicated.
Homes in the most southern part of the city have water in their homes 4 and 5 feet deep. Some homes have water 6 feet and deeper inside.

Prayers being sent! I hope that everyone in need finds shelter. It's about an hour to daylight, but there are boats and big trucks that have been out all night picking people up. Orange in nearby Orange County is now and has been having extremely heavy rainfall. Hardin County has had extreme rainfall. The area is just so big, I just can't name everything.

Ugh, I have a dear friend in Orange. I seriously wish Harvey would move the f#ck along.
The devastation from this is incomprehensible. And at the same time, I am in awe of all the people doing whatever they can to help out others.
Keeping SE Texas tucked up safely in my thoughts.

Ugh, I have a dear friend in Orange. I seriously wish Harvey would move the f#ck along. Orange is directly east of Port Arthur for all of you who don't know. The Weather Channel just said that this Hurricane has moved about the same speed a person can walk.
