My Oklahoma Sooners were lucky to escape w/ a 31-29 victory over UCF. We’re going to have to play a lot better than we did today if we are going to stay undefeated.

I think it's a cute idea, but I'd keep it very simple.
I think it would be fun to look for one item and take a picture of it (ugliest doll, favorite childhood toy, etc), but I wouldn't want to spend my day trying to fill a bingo card instead of shopping for what I really want to find.

If I were a renter, I would balk at the “benefits package” when I saw that they were going to change my filters once a month. That just sounds like an excuse to come in and check up on the renters. I would be especially wary if I were a single female.
On the one hand, I have nothing to hide, but on the other hand I value my privacy. I would only only want the owner or her agents entering the rental premises when there was a genuine maintenance issue.

I certainly hope Natalee’s family gets some sense of satisfaction from hearing van der Sloot’s confession.
I can’t even begin to imagine what that family has endured, especially Beth. It makes me so angry when I think about how awful the Aruban officials were to the Holloway family, especially Beth. I’m glad she had the determination and the means to keep fighting for justice for her daughter.

I read the book and I saw the movie this afternoon at the theater. (A lot of the theaters around OKC had “sneak peeks” today. I thought the movie was very well done. As far as making Ernest a sympathetic character, they did make it out to appear he probably never would have committed such horrific crimes if it weren’t for the influence of his uncle. However, when I read the book, that was the impression I got as well. Of course it was no excuse for what Ernest did, but his uncle was the mastermind behind the crimes in both the movie and the book (at least in my opinion).
I’m so glad this horrific story is being told. I grew up in Oklahoma in a county which borders Osage County and my grandmother used to tell me about the white people who married the Osage and then murdered them, but I never heard about it in school.

My Oklahoma Sooners host UCF in Norman. It should be an easy victory, but you never know.
It’s another 11am kickoff, which always puts me in a bad mood. Half the fun of college football is the tailgating experience. Those 11am kickoffs make for a much too short tailgate.

I admire her because she is such a good business person. She seems to care about others in the industry and makes decisions based on what will be best for all performers, songwriters, etc. rather than what is best for herself.
On a personal level, my son lived on the same dorm floor as her brother at Notre Dame for a couple of years. During graduation week, I got to observe her from afar. The boys had a keg party for their families at the dilapidated house they were living in during their senior year. Taylor came to the party. She looked like she was having a good time, but she managed to stay in the background, even while wearing a leopard print mini dress and stiletto heels. She graciously posed for pics whenever anyone asked, but she definitely didn’t try to be the center of attention. At the actual graduation, she and her parents set in the football stands with everyone else, although I’m quite sure they would have let her and her parents sit in a private suite if they would have asked to do so. I thought it was very sweet that she was so supportive of her brother.

We have every kind of food truck here-from the very practical, mobile ones which go to job sites and serve workers, to the pods of food trucks in the more upscale areas of town. There are a lot of food trucks parked in parking lots around town. Even Chick Fil A has a food truck in our local Target parking lot, although they just sell the food out of the truck, they don’t actually make it in the truck.

My favorite volunteer job by far was being a "book buddy" at an elementary school in an impoverished part of town. I went once a week and read to two first graders and played learning games with them. It combined my passion for reading w/ my love of little kids, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I quit volunteering when the schools closed due to covid. I didn't start up again when the schools reopened, because I've been spending so much time with my aunt at her dementia center. However, this thread makes me realize how much I miss working with the kids and I just might sign up again.

I've got a silly question. I watched a little bit of the Tennessee game. The stands and fans were set up so each section was either orange or white, based on what the fans were wearing. How do the fans know what to wear? Is it announced beforehand? Like if you are in an odd numbered section you wear orange, and even numbered wear white? At the University of Iowa, all ticket holders get an email. If your seats remain the same yearly, you generally wear the same color. For instance, I always wear black, year after year. We also get emails at Oklahoma when they “stripe the stadium.” Odd numbered sections are always white and even numbered sections are always red. Reminders are posted on Facebook, instagram, etc. I love Tennesse’s orange and white checkerboard pattern. That does seem like it would be a little harder to pull off than “striping” the stadium.

It’s a bye week for my Oklahoma Sooners. The bye week comes at a perfect time, since they are coming off the big win over Texas. (My husband and I are watching the replay on ESPNU as I type).
I’ll be cheering for Norte Dame to beat USC this weekend. My son went to Norte Dame and I’m not a Lincoln Riley fan.

Nebraska plays at Illinois on Friday night which would normally be annoying but works out for us since we will be driving to South Dakota. Listening to the game will help pass the time...hopefully... Saturday, we get to watch DS's Mines team play the D2 15th ranked Western CO. They had a great game last week against their top rival so maybe some of that will spill over to this game (especially since the other game we got to watch this year turned out to be a close loss--DS may not let us watch another game in person if they lose!) Good luck to the Huskers and to your son!

I’ll be praying for Greg Brooks. 🙏
My Oklahoma Sooners are playing Texas in the Cotton Bowl at the State Fair of Texas. Both teams are undefeated and the ticket prices are crazy! The stadium is always divided right down the middle, with each team getting 1/2 of the tickets.
My husband and I drove down to Dallas today. My daughter and her husband will fly in from Raleigh tomorrow, and my son will drive in from Oklahoma City tomorrow. Baker Mayfield will be in town too! He’ll be on ESPN’s Game Day which will be broadcasting from the Cotton Bowl.
Can you tell I’m excited?

I’d probably start out your project by finding out if there are any counselors at your kids’ high school who are particularly supportive of kids who want to learn a trade. If there is such a person, you might have that person come speak to the PTA.
If there is no one who is particularly helpful, I’d go straight to the Vo Tech school and ask them to send a rep to address the PTA.

I’ve been using Rosetta Stone for a couple of years to improve my French skills and I really like it. You can log in on any device from anywhere and it picks right up where you left off. I’ve never had any issues requiring customer service, so I can’t tell you about their responsiveness.
I really like the lessons. It is a very practical approach that I think is geared for tourists and business travelers. The focus is on conversational skills. You don’t learn the finer points of grammar.

We received an interesting email from the OU athletic office earlier in the week about OU’s move to the SEC next year. There is going to be a lot of seat shuffling in our stadium after this season to bring as us in compliance w/ SEC rules. Our student section currently extends to about the 40 yard line. Under the SEC rules, the student section cannot be inside the 30 yard line, so the student section will be moved down towards the end zone and will go higher than it currently goes. Also, the Big 12 requires each school to make 2500 tickets available to visiting teams, while the SEC requires that 5000 be made available to visiting teams, 2;000 of which must be in the lower bowl.
The section my husband and I sit in will not be affected by the new rules, but a lot of sections will be affected. Ordinary fans like myself don’t think about all the changes which come when you join a new conference!
Texas and Oklahoma did negotiate a deal with the SEC allowing OU and Texas to continue to play the OU-Texas game at a neutral site (the Cotton Bowl) with tickets between the two schools split evenly down the 50 yard line.

Personally, I love receiving gift bags, but since your husband and daughter are against them, I wouldn’t do them.
I would make sure, however, that guests receive a printed itinerary when they check in listing all the events, venues, transportation details, etc. These details might be available on a website, but if a guest is running late and wants to confirm the shuttle pick up site and time, it’s much easier to refer to a printed piece of paper than to look it up on a wedding website.

If I were you I would just order unisex crew neck t shirts and not worry too much about it. The answers are all over the place on this thread and I’m sure that would be the case if you polled the ladies who are attending your retreat. I say unisex because the women’s cuts are generally not flattering on larger ladies.
