I just keep thinking about what my adult daughter’s reaction would be if I said “Hey, let’s get a selfie of us looking in the mirror here at Ross!”

I watched! I thought the game was over at the one minute mark. I forgot it’s March!
My son in law went to NC State and is over the moon. I sure hope they win the tournament, but either way, they’ve done great.

I’ve played 681 times. My longest streak is 111. That streak ended when we went on vacation and I realized my phone wasn’t syncing w/ my iPad. When I threw a fit, my husband suggested I put away my phone and enjoy the mountains. 🤣🤣🤣
I play Wordle and Connection almost everyday, but my real obsession is Spelling Bee. I just love it when I hit the top level. For about two seconds I think to myself “Wow, I’m a genius!” Then reality sets in and I realize I’m pretty average.

My 18 yr old nephew lives with his father in Canadian. They lost their house today in that huge wildfire. I’m so sorry.

I’m praying for all the people and animals in the path of the fires. I’m praying also for those fighting the fires. I live 100 miles away and the sky looks so strange. It’s so gray and ashen.

Hard core evangelicals preach that men are so driven by passion and lust that they can't be expected to refrain from raping a woman who is wearing shorts. Yet at the same time, women are supposed to honor these same men as the heads of their households.

Not sure if anyone saw Colbert last night? He was very choked up when talking about Toby Keith, who he considered a friend. He basically said they had very different views on somethings but there was something that also drew them together. I was surprised. I am sure it will be on YouTube somewhere but it was a poignant moment IMO. That was really touching, thanks for posting about this. Don't pre-judge someone, good reminder. m.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZvFqcTVUHQThat was a beautiful tribute to Toby Keith and a great reminder that we can always find common ground with each other and still care about each other even though we disagree about a lot of things.

I loved Tom Lake by Ann Patchett.
In Tom Lake, the narrator tells her three adult daughters about her summer fling with an actor who went on to become a mega super star. The overall vibe of the book is more sweet and nostalgic than spicy. I think it is a great story and very well written. I'll be surprised if it's not made into a movie soon.

My daughter is getting married in September and we are trying to figure out a wedding favor that people will like and not just leave behind. I haven’t been to a wedding in forever so I have no clue what people do anymore! Any suggestions?? I think the trend now is no wedding favors. I’ve been to quite a few weddings over the past several years (including my daughter’s wedding last May) and haven’t received any party favors. If your daughter really wants to give her guests a wedding favor, she should. However, I don’t think she should feel any pressure to do so.

How sweet that your husband booked this trip to celebrate your anniversary!
Since it is such a short trip I'd just pick out two or three must do things and then have a list of things to do if you have extra time. I always find that the guidebooks and well meaning friends always underestimate the time and energy it takes to travel from one site to the next when you are in a big city and don't know your way around. You don't want to run yourself and your DH ragged just so you can say "I saw this and I saw that." You definitely want to save time and energy for strolling and sitting and people watching.
I love your idea about walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. I've been to NYC several times but have never done that. Next time I go, I'm going to make that a top priority. I always read books aloud to my husband when we go on car trips. One of our all-time favorite books was The Great Bridge by David McCullough.

I was so sad to wake up to this news.
He did so much for his home state of Oklahoma. He was a fixture on the sidelines at OU football games and was a big supporter of the women's softball team. He played many benefit concerts here and invested his money in Oklahoma businesses. He will be greatly missed.

I read Hello Beautiful by Ann Nepalitano.
The main story line was very intriguing and I think the book raised really important questions about family relationships and mental health. However, I thought the book had way too many unnecessary quirky characters who didn’t move the story along. In my opinion the book would have been a lot more interesting if there had been two sisters instead of four and the author had spent more time exploring why the two sisters turned out so differently, and why they made the decisions they did. Also, I thought the main male character was a little one dimensional.

My father, an attorney, died of a heart attack when I was three and my brother was six. My mother never planned on working, but she had to go to work to support my brother and I. She worked in a shoe shop for awhile and then took a huge chance and opened a women’s clothing shop. She operated her store successfully for the next twenty years’ or so.

I love true crime documentaries, so I’m sure I’ll watch it.

I haven’t been following the case too closely, but I did see clips of a prosecution witness reading excerpts of the shooter’s diary. It was heartbreaking to hear that the kid knew he had a problem and desperately wanted help.

I remember when I first took our mutt, Jo, to the vet.
The vet said "I think she's got a little German Shepard, a little Golden Retriever, a little lab and maybe even a little bit of collie in her. She's going to be a great dog. I find these mutts usually have all the best traits of these breeds and very few of the health problems."
He was right about Jo. She was smart, kind, loyal and protective. She lived to be almost nineteen years old. She was proud to be called a mutt!

I'm so sorry.
We lost our seventeen and eighteen year old mutts within a few months of each other in 2021. It was very painful.
I still sometimes walk through the door and expect them to greet meet. I miss them so much. I feel so blessed to have had them all the years that we did.

I read Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll.
It is loosely based on the story of an infamous serial murderer in the 1970s. (I’ll follow the author’s lead and not give a name to the murderer so as not to humanize him). In this novel, Pamela, who is the president of her sorority at FSU and the narrator of the book, gets a clear look at a man leaving her sorority house in the middle of the night. Pamela then goes upstairs to find that two of her sorority sisters have been brutally murdered by the stranger she saw exiting the house.
Pamela then meets Tina whose girlfriend was murdered by the same man in Washington. They work together to bring the man to justice.
Pamela is sickened by the fact the man becomes a cult legend and is admired for his supposed good looks and intelligence. The defendant, as she refers to the killer in the book, is neither smart nor particularly good looking.
It’s a good story, though a little implausible at times. It really does make you think about how serial killers become celebrities and then cult legends while their victims are forgotten.

My grandmother lived in the country and had a party line until the early seventies. I thought it was so much fun to secretly listen to others’ conversations, even though it was usually two old farmers talking about the price of cattle.
