I feel like one of the trendiest styles right now are the New Balance 327. I’m wearing them right now and they are super cute and sporty. I also really like my Veja tennis shoes, they are also trendy and I get compliments on them. I’ll look for photos. I think if you want to be trendy, the New Balance 327 and the Veja are your two best choices. Dolce Vita also makes some really cute tennis shoes. I love the slip on styles suggested and wear them all the time, but I don’t think they are trendy. The great thing about foot fashion now is that you can be comfortable and stylish at the same time!

I'm watching The Guilded Age. (It took me a couple of episodes before I got into it, but now I really enjoy it).
My husband and I are both watching The Great British Baking Show.

I think whatever you decide to do is fine, but personally, I love to get out all my good stuff and prepare my table for a holiday meal. I’ve found, however, that I only enjoy it if I start getting the table ready at least 24 hours before the actual meal. That way, there’s no rush and I can take my time and enjoy setting my table.
I use all my nicest things on holidays-china, cloth napkins, stemware, etc. I buy a centerpiece at my local grocery store or order one from a florist.
If I have a big crowd, I serve buffet style. This year, we’ll only have six, so I’ll put all the sides on the table and we’ll pass them. My husband (who makes the turkey) will walk around the table with a platter of turkey and each guest will serve themselves from the platter. Then my husband will place the turkey on the buffet in the dining room and guests can help themselves to seconds.
I always offer dessert at the end of the meal, but everyone is always too full. After the meal, my husband and I do a quick clean up and then join everyone in the den to watch sports on tv. We don’t do the big clean up until after our guests are gone.

The house is gorgeous! I especially love the kitchen.
I think the most obvious clue that the house is AI is that in the living room there is a glass vase about two feet tall containing 3 or 4 tree branches that are about 5’ tall. It’s lovely to look at, but I don’t think that would work in real life.

It wouldn’t bother me to live in a house which was supposedly haunted or to live in a house where a murder took place. I would be concerned about resale value.

You might have heard there is a bit of commotion here in State College. It's going to be interesting however it turns out. I can't imagine what commotion you could be referring to. We're going to be leaving soon to go to the OU game, but we watched the first half of the game. It's an exciting game! I hope Penn State can pull off the win.

My all-time favorite classic is Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.
I also love all of Willa Cather's novels. I would think My Antonia would be a great choice for a young adult.

My Oklahoma Sooners host West Virginia tonight in Norman. I hope we get our Sooner Magic back after losing two straight games.
I returned to Oklahoma City from a girls’ trip to Chicago last night. I sat on the plane among the West Virginia cheer squad, who represented their school well. I invited them to our tailgate (it’s chilli cook off weekend). I know they can’t come to our tailgate, but I hope they feel as welcome in Oklahoma as we did in West Virginia when we went to a game a few years’ ago in Morgantown.
That was a terrible no call in the Alabama-LSU game!

I’m not big on adults correcting other adults when it comes to etiquette, grammar, pronunciation etc.
I think it’s best to let adults pronounce words the way they want to, unless they have asked for your help or there is some compelling reason, such as they are making a business presentation and are mispronouncing the name of a product.
I know there have been times when I thought I was very sure of the pronunciation of a word, but later I found out there was an alternate pronunciation which was more acceptable than my pronunciation.
I have one friend who can be a little pompous and every time I pronounced “Capris” in the Americanized manner, she would correct me by stating the Italian pronunciation. Finally, I turned to her and said “Look, when you are in the United States, you don’t say ‘Roma’ when referring to Rome, so why do you expect me to use the proper Italian when referring to Capris?”
I didn’t add that I thought it made her sound pretentious when she pronounced Capris in the Italian manner when we were having a conversation in a Starbucks in Oklahoma City, but each to his own.

My Oklahoma Sooners lost to Oklahoma State. Horrible no call pass interference in the end zone, but that’s how it goes sometimes.
It was a bad day of football for our family. My son’s alma mater, Norte Dame lost to Clemson.
The only bright spot was that my son in law’s team, North Carolina State, beat Miami.
Sometimes I hate college football and yesterday was one of those days! 🤣🤣🤣

John Kennedy Jr.’s death was shocking to me. We were the same age and his sister was the same age as my brother. Our fathers both died in 1963 when we were very young. Nothing else about our lives were similar, but he was the only other person my age that I was aware of who had lost their father at such a young age.

I read Happiness Falls by Angie Kim, a mystery. I thought the main storyline was really interesting. The narrator’s father disappears in a local park after an outing with the narrator’s teenage brother who cannot communicate due to the fact he is autistic and has Angelman syndrome. I learned a lot about autism and Angelman syndrome and the assumptions we make about people who cannot easily communicate. I enjoyed that part of the subplot. Where I thought the story really got weighted down was when the narrator began describing her father’s theories regarding human happiness. At times I felt like I was sitting through a philosophy class at Stanford (the author’s alma mater). I agree w/ gottapeanow that the book was good, but I personally would have enjoyed it more if the author had not spent so much time exploring the philosophy of happiness.

I rarely rely on reviews when deciding what I want to see at the theatre. Usually I go to a movie at the theatre because the subject really interests me, the trailer caught my attention or I really like the actors in the movie.
When I’m deciding whether to watch a movie at home, I’ll quickly look at the ratings.
Sometimes after I have seen a movie I can’t stop thinking about I go back and read the critic’s reviews. Often they point out details that I didn’t notice or suggest a way of interpreting a scene that I may not have thought of.

I almost always wear black dresses to funerals. I generally go w/ bare legs, but I think tights or panty hose would be fine on a cold day.
If it’s extremely cold, I sometimes wear a pleated midi skirt w/ boots and a thin sweater on top. (I wear this look every winter, but it happens to be very trendy this year).

As horrific as the shootings were, I can’t imagine the additional trauma being inflicted upon those living in the region by having to shelter in place. After such a traumatic event it seems like most people want to be with others and mourn those who died and pray for those who were injured. I certainly hope they find the shooter soon.

My Oklahoma Sooners play Kansas at Kansas this week. We are favored to win, but I’m kind of worried about this game. There has been bad blood between Oklahoma and Kansas ever since 2017 when the Kansas captains refused to shake Baker Mayfield’s hand after the coin toss. (They also instructed the little kids who accompanied them on field to refuse Baker’s handshake offer). Baker mocked the Kansas bench and the Kansas fans after that and things have never been the same. The Jayhawks know this will be their last chance for a long time to upset the Sooners, so I think this game could be a real test.

I, too, read Counting the Cost by Jill Duggar. I thought she did a good job of telling her story. It’s obvious she still loves her parents but is very hurt over some of their actions. I’m sure her parents feel the same. I doubt Jill and her parents will ever feel fully reconciled.
I felt like she really glossed over the sexual assault incidents, just as Jinger did in her book. That’s okay, of course, it’s their story to tell or not to tell. Jill certainly didn’t hide her anger towards the public officials who released the records-calling them out by name several times. I don’t blame her for that at all. However, she certainly didn’t express that level of anger at her parents for sweeping the whole thing under the rug in the first place and then pressuring her and her sisters to go on FOX news and underplay the whole situation (while their brother waited offstage). I truly hope she has worked through those feelings in private and allowed herself to be really angry at all those who wronged her.
I also read The Postcard by Anne Berest. The book is billed as a mystery, but if you are looking for a light, quick read, this is not the book for you. The book is actually based on the true story of the author’s grandmother’s experiences as a young Jewish woman living in France during World War II. The story is very dark and tragic in many respects, but it was an important story to tell. The underlying mystery of who sent the postcard with the names of family members who were murdered in WWII is the least interesting part of the story.

This is not a negative comment about his acting abilities, but if Donald Sutherland had a role in which he wasn't purely evil I haven't seen it. (My husband tells me when he was young he wasn't so typecast but those sound like movies for boys about war and I'll never see them) It's pretty old, but I thought Donald Sutherland was great in Ordinary People. He played a good guy in that movie. I thought he was fantastic-very believable as a very successful corporate attorney trying desperately to hold onto his family and make everything right after a horrible tragedy.

I would expect a new plate of eggs and hash. I think it would be unappetizing and unsanitary to eat hash on a plate w/ undercooked eggs.
