I loved the classes and have printed off the pdf's for the first two classes. In the middle of making cards that need to go out this week, but hoping to get to some more pages over the next few days. Not sure if I am feeling more inspired or overwhelmed. Her pages are SOOO GOOOOD....
Hoping you get signed on soon, 950nancy . Check your junk mail folder.Looking forward to seeing your pages, KikiPea and craftymom101 . Left love for Chinagirl828 and schroema on Flickr. sueg , your pages are great! Love that pic of that connected little girl! And all the colours and embellishments to go with it! And I love that you replaced Shimelle's 4 small pic's with two larger ones for the second page. Those papers go really well with the zoo theme. Forgot all about that. It wasn't in there, but I'll be sure to check it in the next few days. I remember people saying they didn't get an email, but I should go back and see what they did. I double checked my PayPal account a purchased the class on Friday. Just sent her an email with my info just in case I did something amiss. It wouldn't be the first time. Have you taken her classes before? You could sign in and see if it shows up.

Anyone recall SC’s iNSD sales? Or seen anything posted yet? I’ve got a few stamps I’m interested in, but would rather wait for a sale.

Her designs are great. I wish she also sold them as cutfiles - acrylic is so thick and hard that I worry about it damaging the others pages/photos in my album once it’s in there.

I’m finally getting to join in, because this is the first layout I’ve done in over four years! I’ve really missed it! I also designed the kit, so creative x2! 😜 I struggle with triangles, but you nailed it! Always love your designs too!

See, when people talk about why companies aren't making the products that "we scrapbookers" want, I think we are missing the point that we're just a little subculture of scrapbooking. I went into a LSS when Starshine came out and the person working there (the owner?) had never heard of Shimelle and she looked at me blankly when I said she was an American Crafts designer. They know about Graphic45 and Tim Holtz - I'm not sure if the AC thing was snobbery or what because don't AC own half of scrapbooking? But I'm 100% sure they wouldn't have known Studio Calico, Ali Edwards, and certainly not Kelly Purkey, etc. When we complain about too much pink, too many gendered lines, dumb icons, and the companies come back and say, but that's what scrapbookers buy, I think they're talking about that great mass of people who craft and scrapbook who we are just a tiny offshoot from. Hope you're having fun despite feeling a bit out of place. My LSS owner has a lot of knowledge on so many companies. She's been in business almost 25 years, I believe. She doesn't sell a lot of AC because it is sold in the big box stores for less money than online. I love her store. I always complain of too much pink and too many flowers, but I know that it sells, so I just appreciate when a company like Echo Park comes up with lines that don't have them. I don't mind gendered lines because I want some phrases that are about boys. With all of the pink and flowers out there, we need something for the boys in our lives. Yes! I agree with all of this, especially needing something for our boys (and non-pink/floral things for me too).

Yes I still had fun. I always do. I’m not big on socializing at these. I just want the uninterrupted time. This retreat is celebrating their 20th year this year. I used to go to a lot more retreats, including this one, 10 years ago. It was like this back then. Just interesting that not much has changed. And ya we must be in a bubble more so than I realize. I wonder how much of it has to do with age and social media usage. Facebook vs IG users. I think there was this subset even before FB and IG - it’s the people who flocked to message boards (like the OG 2peas and the CK message board). We’re all in. We subbed to the magazines, stalked the LSS for the new collections we knew were coming because we watched trends and stayed on top of the industry. I don’t think that’s changed, just the way we do it. I’m glad you had fun. It does always amaze me that people who like the hobby enough to go to retreats aren’t in it enough to know all the ins and outs. To me, that’s part of the fun!

You're making me wonder who buys Ali E's stuff and how they found her. Are all of her customers old 2 Peas followers? Do people come across her organically and start scrapbooking? I'd love to know how many customers she has. Interesting Lots of old Studio Calico folks? I think I found Studio Calico because of Ali! Ha!

The last in person class I attended at a scrapbooking class was exactly like this. It was a painting class with Dana Weekly but I was also buying some supplies for December Daily. The ladies asked me what I was buying for and none of them had heard of DD or AE or PL. It blew my mind. Even the gal working the counter had no idea. I was also the youngest person there by a good 12-15 years and I was 39 or 40 at the time. They weren't exactly welcoming either and I felt judged for being a different scrapper and for scrapping at all since I didn't have kids. It certainly made me uninterested in taking more classes as I didn't fit in (which is fine, to each their own). I was so surprised since all I see are other online, non-traditional scrappers. I hadn't realize there were still so many traditionalist folks out there. You're making me wonder who buys Ali E's stuff and how they found her. Are all of her customers old 2 Peas followers? Do people come across her organically and start scrapbooking? I'd love to know how many customers she has. Interesting People who subscribed to Creating Keepsakes magazine. That’s where Ali was catapulted to scrappy fame. People followed her blog after reading her articles and books from CK. And maybe some when she had stamps with Technique Tuesday and Digitals at Designer Digitals. Then she started DD and other projects and classes. I’d be interested in how people new to scrapbooking find her now (or even how they got into scrapbooking now).

Right now I’m working on my 2020 JYC/DD album. It’s dragging out a bit, but I’m enjoying it still. Will be glad to move on to something else when it’s done though.

Dear Studio Calico, I've run out of your wonky puffy heart stickers. Please make more and sell them as separate sheets in the shop. I would like multiple colour selections as well. Make mine muted. These sell. People like them. People stock up on them. Don't go all contrarian fool on me here. Just make them and sell them. I will pay however much you feel like (over)pricing them, no questions asked. Thanks in advance. And please make a separate set of puffy stars. Thank you. Plus those teeny tiny wood veneer stars with the outlines included. I use those on everything and am getting low...the cheap sorta similar ones on ebay and elsewhere are too thick.

Same here. I picked up Evening and got the Morning addon. Planning to use for WITL. I wish I had picked up the puffy stars/moons, but that sold out before I made my purchase.
When is the cancellation date?

I unfroze two weeks ago to prepare for a four-day crop with two vaccinated friends at their lake house. However, I did 72 pages at the crop so I more than made up for my lapse with uber-productivity! That’s amazing, and sounds wonderful!

Excitedly heading to the LSS today! I have a pile of things she has been putting away for me over the past couple of months I have been unable to go there. Not sure if I can afford to troll the rest of the store, b/c I have a feeling I will just want one of everything... Oh the joy of picking up a sheet of paper, feeling it, testing its weight and sheen, turning it over to see if I prefer the A or B side, and if I like both, deciding to pick up a couple of extras of this one... Sounds heavenly!

What is this? I LOVE the GG!! They are part of the theme of my craft room (and Mama's Family). I have that stamp set and a few GG quotes ones from Aliexpress. I've never heard of this.. but I'm interested now! Alice at ScrapHappy has taken over Shimelle Laine's LayOut A Day (LOAD) events three or four times per year. More info HERE.
Each one has a theme, but the prompts usually tie details from that theme to your own scrapbooking. May 2021 (LOAD 521) has the theme of the Golden Girls. Scrap Happy, LOAD, and True Scrap were run by Lain Ehman, not Shimelle Laine. 😉😉 Alice has done a great job taking over the Scrap Happy membership, and I’m so glad she stepped up when Lain was ready to move on. Shimelle has participated in many of their special events though.

I did well in January and stuck to my frosty plan - my Elle’s Studio kit and less than $25 spending. I canceled all my other kits, and have not been tempted at all by Kelly Purkey’s kits (I really thought I would have FOMO, but I’m really glad I canceled). February I went over and bought a few things, but was more intentional. March, well, I got my credit card rewards $$ (and stimulus, right?), so I spent that on some stamps from Everyday Explorers Co and a kit + stamps from FYC. I did resist Elle’s Studio cute bday release, so some willpower there. I plan to be frosty again in April to get through until NSD sales. Oh, how naive March me was! So optimistic, so delusional. April was not frosty, except for the snow yesterday.

I was very, very good in January and came in under my plan. I was not as strong Feb, Mar, or April. 😲😬 I should frost in May, but not until after iNSD. Then there’s Mother’s Day, so I will probably buy myself a gift for that. Then there’s my birthday. Again, by self presents. So yeah, definitely June will be frosty!
I have been more mindful about the purchases I am making (e.g. I resisted Ali’s digital Story kit and story class sale, even though I was eyeing a LOT), but I need to do more scrapping to clear out some space!

I am still very chilly. I bought some of the inks from paper person but only 4. I also bought an embellishment pack and 2 12x12 pieces of paper 🤣 my paper person kits have been stacking up and going unused. I have however used up almost all of my last 2 feed your craft kits. Over the next couple of months I’m going to try to kill some paper person. I already planned a bunch of pages with the food kit. Out of context, this is quite hilarious (and scary)!

I bought this set from scrapbook.com and it has a similar color palette, but tbh I found the colors in the card pack hard to match with more "traditional" pinks that I was also using for that particular album. I didn't end up using a ton of these cards in that baby album but I have used some in my non-baby layouts and cards. www.scrapbook.com/store/sbc-pocket-1.html?t15-19=babies&t26=exclusiveThe orange in the Wild Whisper designs collection is off for me. I like the rainbow paper, though. Definitely NOT my color palette, but looks like something fans of Crate Paper might like!

This may be a silly question, but do y’all know if they ever reprint the physical sketch books after the first batch sells out? I know it’s old fashioned, etc, but I really like to have book in hand vs. digital. Realize I can print from digital, but just not the same (to me). (I also miss scrapbook magazines & still have most of my simple scrapbooks special editions, though I did give away/recycle the CK ones). Thanks much! 😊 @rush2scrap can answer I bet!

Did you order anything beyond your subscription, like add on stamps or anything? I'm curious if they have a method to their shipping madness, like if you just get the sub and nothing else they'll ship right away or if you add on things it takes longer. ETA: I'm sure there's no rhyme or reason, and I'm even more sure I won't get my sub and add ons until next month because I'm so far away (I'm not really, I'm just in northern California LOL). Nope, no extras. That said, I agree with you there there's no rhyme or reason, I have never ordered any additional items since I've had this sub and it's always shipped on the later end. I'll take it I’ll add another data point to the study...I got my shipping notice this evening. I’m no longer a subber, and all I got was the vaccine kit. Ordered it as soon as the shop opened for non-subbers. Can’t wait to get it!

CT has so many beautiful colors 😍 it would be a dream if they made them 6x8 too. mom how does the paint hold up? I’m might have to try that. I have painted 3 (maybe 4?) albums so far...DD, OLW and this years WITL. So far, no issues. I water my paint down and do several layers and let each layer dry completely before moving on. Tape everything inside off with painters tape. I just use inexpensive acrylic paint, and a touch of water to thin it out. I have only used this technique on fabric albums though. mom Do you gesso the album first? I was contemplating trying spray paint. I have the “warm red” AE DD album that is actually a light peach that I’ve been meaning to paint.

So, Khristina’s now opened up spots in her Kreative Cuts club and has put new stuff in the shop. I wonder if she’s made any progress shipping out previous orders to waiting customers? I also saw a lot of mentions of the DT and even a post by someone saying they were on the DT and answering questions. I thought the DT was paused? Have things been resolved, or is it all just being ignored?

Guess who has Disneyland tickets and reservations for May? ME! Today was the first day they went on sale for California residents only. After a 5-hour online wait, I finally navigated the process and have it all booked. So excited! DD and I are going to celebrate my birth daymonth. Looking forward to visiting the New Star Wars land for the first time. I have no idea what to expect with COVID protocols and limited visitors, but it will be an adventure anyway. So awesome! Happy birthmonth - I think it’s a May thing, because I too celebrate all month! COVId protocols with limited attendance and social distancing actually sounds super amazing for a Disney trip!
