he took his mask off in court to be identified and was still smirking eh..was that the very 1st day? I havn't seen it during the trial. The Mpls Chief of Police now on the stand. They are working up to training, and I'm sure if that knee hold was taught. I saw it in the news either say one or day 2. ETA: I can’t find it but it was news coverage from either last wed or thur because I hadn’t watched news since then.

It appears that the defense team consists of the attorney and an intern. While the prosecution has several people on their team.

Also, it's so ridiculous that Chauvin's attorney is trying to say that his knee was on his shoulder and not his neck.

They are implying it was on his shoulder and slipped down to his neck, while distracted by the bystanders yelling at them. It's already been established all the people yelling and taking video. Just another way to throw in DOUBT.

I did hear somewhere that there is one chair for Mr. Floyd's family and one for Chauvin family in the courtroom. Chauvin's side has been empty so far during the trial.

Thanks for the info. I heard she was an intern from someone on HLN.

amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/04/07/us/derek-chauvin-trial-george-floyd-day-8/index.html"Yes, it did," Reyerson said. After a short break, the prosecution played for Reyerson a longer clip of the video that provided the lead up to that comment. "Having heard it in context, are you able to tell what Mr. Floyd is saying there?" prosecutor Matthew Frank asked. "Yes, I believe Mr. Floyd was saying, 'I ain't do no drugs," Reyerson replied. The testimony came on the eighth day of Chauvin's criminal trial as several investigators and forensic scientists testified about what they found at the crime scene, including Floyd's blood stains and a few white pills containing fentanyl and methamphetamine. Opioid addiction still doesn’t mean George Floyd should be dead. I think the presence of drugs should have made him use greater caution. I don’t get why we don’t have this expectation that LEO be highly trained in something other than chokeholds

The prison system wheel would stop spinning without the work of Black people. Maybe I’ve watched too much Wentworth but the fact that Black prisoners or correctional officers haven’t at the very least stuck his head in a toilet pisses me off.

I am wondering if he is highly protected and isolated. Frankly I wish he would get thrown in with the general population and people could take turns kneeling on his neck just till he loses consciousness. Several times a day. Every damn day. For the rest of his miserable life.

For the rest of his miserable life. He is out on bail. He is free to come and go. There was also a comment up thread that because they found drugs in the back of the squad car that George Floyd had been in, it was suggested that the drugs were planted. A MN BCA technologist testified that George Floyd's DNA was found on the drugs. The defense was the one who had asked for another search of the secured squad car and were present when the seal was broken prior to the second search. Next week the medical examiner is going to testify. He/she is probably the most important person in this trial.

The medical examiner must be testifying today. I heard a man with a slight accent talking about what caused Floyd’s death in an Instagram story about 45 mins ago.

The medical examiner must be testifying today. I heard a man with a slight accent talking about what caused Floyd’s death in an Instagram story about 45 mins ago. He’s a pulmonary specialist the prosecution brought in to testify as the the mechanics of breathing and how the position Floyd was placed in and the kneeling compromised his breathing and eventual killed him. He’s from Illinois (I think) and is testifying as an expert without payment. From what I’ve seen his testimony could be pivotal if they get a conviction

That pulmonologist was amazing. I have no words to express how hopeful I am that his testimony above all sends Mr Floyd's murderer to his own death under the knees of all of his fellow inmates.

the pulmonary specialist was pretty great. very precise down to the time stamps of certain events. and he is doing this for FREE. he is just volunteering his testimony.

Most people who have asthma or COPD or other lung issues know the feeling of 'I can't breathe' It is not that you cannot get air it is that you cannot get enough air with shallow breathing. How often are people told to take deep breaths? Deep breaths are needed for the lungs to process the incoming air.
I learned a lot today! Fantastic doctor Tobin who explained everything for us, particularly the jury, to understand.
And yes I do understand the pressing of the fingers when attempting to get air in.... it literally lifts the shoulders to be able to expand the lungs!! It is not something you think about you just DO IT! It is a reflex.

I think the lead defence attorney is doing a good job . It’s tough to defend the indefensible, but I think he comes over well and he’s doing whatever he can to raise doubt - it only takes one stubborn juror to help Chauvin. Unlike Chad Daybell’s attorney he is also somewhat likeable. Once the defence case gets going it will be interesting to see how he gets over that 2 plus minutes the police did nothing, Chauvin stayed on his neck after poor GF had stopped breathing.
Watching Chauvin pretend to write on that yellow pad is driving me crazy - all he does is dots and dashes from what I can see . I also don’t understand how he is allowed to stay masked up through the whole trial. As a juror that would not go down well with me, especially as I doubt he will give evidence.

The jury is also masked so it is hard for the prosecutor and attorneys to judge their faces also.

Our local reporters commented on the jury today. That when the pulmonologist testified for over an hr, the jury was very focused, attentive, and taking notes. They haven't been like that all the time.

Chauvin is a monster.
The disgusting "big, scary crowd" defense is total bullshit. The people in the crowd were begging Chauvin to let George Floyd breathe. They implored him to render aid. They were desperate because they knew they were watching an atrocity.
All Chauvin had to do was get the fuck up and treat George Floyd with some sort of humanity and the supposed danger from the crowd would have receded.
Let's see how smug Chauvin is in prison. Animal.

Along with the crowd talk.... I kept yelling at the TV... Chauvin was NOT there alone.... There were three other cops there. He did not have to be concerned with the crowd in any way, and yes all he had to do as get up!

Chauvin's actions that day were the very definition of depraved indifference. He did not care that he was killing George Floyd. And the others helped him.
The pulmonologist was amazing. He explained things so clearly and expertly. I don’t think there could have been anyone better as an expert witness. I just deeply hope that the jury finds Chauvin guilty and doesn’t deadlock on a verdict.

I always wonder what the defense attorneys are thinking. I understand they have a job and a function but how do they do that in this type of situation? Do they really think he is not guilty?

Why do you think the response to George Floyd’s death was different from the reactions to all the other killings?
