I also don't own any slimline dies, and more importantly, I'm terrible at using the dies I do own.

I have a few, and so far, have only used them for cards. I never thought about using them on a layout! Thanks for the idea, I'll have to try it! grammadee, that's a great way to use them!

Not a slimline die, but a stamp I want to get to make 3x4 journal cards. Also works for layouts too. I also want to get the grass, cloud, tree slimline dies for scrapping. www.scrapbook.com/store/sbc-ds21-22.htmlETA: Primarily a pocket page scrapper.

I voted yes on this because I just got a mini slimline die that I intend to use for making both layouts and cards. I just opened it and used it for the first time today, but haven't made a layout with it yet. I decided to get it primarily because I thought I could use it on a bunch of layouts. The cards aren't that high of a priority for me, but I am sure I will end up using it for that purpose, too. This particular die is a mini slimline scalloped frame by Pinkfresh Studio. I am thinking of using it to frame various elements on my layouts including journaling blocks, stamped images and hopefully photos, too. Not sure about how it will look with the photos...but I'm going to give it a try. I LOVE the look of the die-cuts from it so far, but since I haven't got as far as actually finishing a layout with it yet, it's hard to say whether this is an idea I'll stick with or not. I plan to use the die-cut scalloped frame images adhered to my layouts with some of the narrow foam strips from Scrapbook.com to give it extra dimension when framing my pics, journaling, whatever. I'm out of the strips at the moment and just reordered them, so it'll be a little while before I get around to finishing a layout with any of these die-cuts. I also ordered, but haven't yet received, a die that is similar to the one Grammadee posted. My primary intention is to use it for framing smaller pics in layouts I make to put in my 6x8 albums. However, I am sure that die will be useful for making cards, too. It looks versatile. I'm more of a scrapbooker than a card maker, but I dabble in a lot of different crafts, including card making. I don't consider myself a hardcore card maker; I just kind of mess around and have fun with it. I figure that card-making will be my fallback use for these dies if they don't work out the way I hope in my scrapbooking.

to be honest, this is the first i've heard of them. i'm assuming these are for skinny layouts or cards. very interesting.

I don't have very many. I have used a starburst one on a layout, but I think that is it. I do buy a fair amount of the Elizabeth Craft Planner and Sidekick dies. The viewfinder is my favorite.

Thanks for your participation in the poll &/or responses. I'm exclusively a scrapbooker who typically uses 4x6 photos & do not own or use slimline products. As evidenced by grammadee's creative "It's a Family Thing" layout posted upthread, slimline dies are not limited to cardmaking & can also be used in scrapbooking, traveler's notebooks, etc. ETA: to be honest, this is the first i've heard of them. i'm assuming these are for skinny layouts or cards. very interesting. Slimline cards have been popular for a couple of years now (discussed here). See Everything You Need To Know About Slimline Cards (SB.com article). HTH.

Nope, not adding another series of items to collect for something new. I have enough already to keep me busy. Also not doing foil or wax seals.

I’m not quite sure how to vote. I was a card maker before I started scrapbooking. When I started scrapbooking, I stopped making cards, until a few years ago. I haven’t scrapbooked much in the last few years, but I’ve mostly made cards, which don’t take as much time. I finally bought some slimline dies for card making, but like any and all dies, before making a purchase, I often consider if the dies I want to buy are items that I could also use for scrapbooking. When I went to GASC in June, that was definitely a huge consideration. I think they will work nicely to both scrapbooking and card making. I love the example grammadee showed us. I don’t have that one, but the ones I got would add a lovely border decoration, and I can see overlapping a photo over a portion of a slimline die cut would work well for a layout.

I don’t have any slimline dies, but I do have plenty of border dies. I use them and all my other dies a lot on my layouts.
