Good morning! Welcome to June! I know I was MIA parts of May. I'm struggling just a little bit with online presence so forgive me if I get a little overwhelmed and need to step away for a time. I always come back. You can never really leave here.
About a month ago, I was in Joann's for something completely unrelated to crochet. I was looking for Velcro. Did you know there's a huge hubbub with the biggest Velcro manufacturer and Joann's and Michaels hadn't received anything since Christmas? Velcro was *out.* So I've been waiting patiently for that.
Well I decided to peruse the yarn section and they had Lion brand jiffy yarn half price plus I had a 20% off coupon. So it made them $8 per skein. This is a bulky yarn and it is almost 700 yards per skein. I looked up a sweater pattern I wanted to do and saw the yardage and thought two skeins would do it. They had exactly two in seafoam green. I bought both.
I took this project on my vacation. And I've been working away at the sweater. I've got the back done and almost done with the front two panels. And I realized this is not going to be enough yarn to finish the sleeves. So I looked to see if any of the Joann's around me had any in the app. The app said the store where I got these now has 10 in stock. So I went back over there and? They had nothing. I showed them the app that has ten in stock. And they said the app is unreliable in that way. This story is a PSA.
I guess this yarn is being discontinued. (Nothing noted that either.) Good news is that I was able to buy another skein online. It is shipping here right now. So I will be able to finish the sweater. But I feel like big box stores should give people some kind of warning yarns are being discontinued. And then I thought about actual good quality yarns and how we just have to order what we need and suffer the consequences if we don't have enough. Restocks are not any kind of thing and hand dyed can't guarantee a color match anyway. So why am I mad at Lion brand and Joann's? 😉
The sweater, the camping quilt. These are on my agenda this month.

UGH - I hate when the online inventory says they have it and they don't! Get a better system!! In this day and age of all things electronic and digital, real time inventory should be more accurate than it is.
I hear you on the quality/special order. I ordered from Panda Yarn - but I made sure I had projects in mind and ordered what I needed for a specific amount. But I'm weird that way lol. I only buy for a project, not just to "have". We had a fibre festival here last weekend and I ended up not going down to it. It was raining and I didn't want to buy yarn without a purpose!
ETA - hugs - come when you can/feel like it!!

We had a fibre festival here last weekend and I ended up not going down to it. It was raining and I didn't want to buy yarn without a purpose! ETA - hugs - come when you can/feel like it!! I had the pattern and I looked at the yardage for my size. According to the pattern two skeins should have been enough. I was skeptical about this but I proceeded in good faith. After 22 years of crochet, I knew better than to trust the pattern. I should have trusted my instincts that two of them would not be enough. It's crazy though because two were almost 1400 yards. I do buy yarn sometimes without a project in mind. Now I will say that I do think I'll make a blanket with this or I'll make a shawl with this. I have been known many times to pull out my phone and take a scroll through my Ravelry favorites on the spot so I can definitively know what I want to do with something. But I have been known to estimate. 1200 yards of fingering will usually be enough for a shawl. 5000-6000 yards of dk or worsted is about right for the size of blankets I like to make. And I can usually make do with something or switch gears with my ideas. But you can't come up short on a sweater. 😪 I don't often make wearables either so my Spidey senses are off there too.

We’ve been away from home since Thursday, so I brought a simple car project with me. I am making myself a cardigan with granny squares for the front and back and the sleeves and trim knitted. I used a color randomiser to give me combinations to make 4- round squares using 5 colors in total. While DH is driving, I am making just the first round of each square. I wrote in advance how many of each color I need, and have so far done 34 of 65. We’re heading home tomorrow and I hope to get the rest done before we’re home.

I would do 5 or 6 (what I needed in one color for either front or back) then take a break for a bit. It helped, but I don’t get carsick easily.

Happy June! Hoping that June will be more productive for me than May was. I have a stack of projects that need just one or two more steps to complete and I am finding that they are holding me back from starting new projects. So my focus for June will be to wrap up as many of those as I can. Projects to wrap up include: quilt labels for about 4 quilts, complete seahorse wallhanging (from quilt festival class), a smock apron, a zip bag and my Texas wallhanging. My quilt guild meeting is the 15th and they are having a sew-in afterwards until 4 pm so I will take advantage of that. Bonus is that it will be at the summer location which is less than 5 min. from my house! jeremysgirl - Sorry that you won't have enough yarn for that sweater. Fear of running out of fabric is part of why I have so much fabric! I tend to add a yard to whatever I am purchasing. Have you thought about going rogue for the sleeves? Doing stripes in colors that work well with the body would be an option. It would be a great exercise in stretching your design abilities and could be fun. If in the end you don't like it, you could donate it to a shelter. sueg - Road trip projects are something I have done for years - both car and plane! Fortunately I don't get car/airsick. Typically I work on needlepoint.

Does sewing count? I'm almost done sewing some Bluey long sleeved t-shirts for for DH's half sisters kids. After that I think I'll use up all my Bluey fabric and make as many t-shirts for other children I know. They're pretty quick to make using just my serger (except for the hem).

I'm going to jump in for real this month. I actually started a knitting project. It's just a scarf. I found an online class for fixing mistakes and I'll try it. I contacted a localish knitting store and the very nice owner is putting together a class for mistakes and advanced stitches, but it could be a while. It's impossible to find an intermediate knitting class in my region and there are a lot of yarn stores. So, Udemy it is.

I finally got my hands on The Sock Project by Summer Lee, I preordered it months ago! I started the Surf Wax socks this morning and have several other patterns bookmarked.

I wasn't going to do it but I can't resist anymore. I'm totally going to make a Bridgerton tumbler to be ready for the next drop of episodes in a couple of weeks.

I have been making some projects but just haven’t posted here in a few months. Our church is across the street from a new (& very large) cancer center. Someone from the cancer center came over & asked if we had a knitting ministry (which we do) and would we make hats for the patients. We were so happy to team up with them. I’ll post some hats later. On a separate note: I have been eyeing these Pioneer Woman hooks at Walmart for a while but couldn’t justify the $25 price since I don’t NEED hooks & have so many. However, when the set was marked down to $10, I figured why not?

Hello everyone! June already! Shaking my head in disbelief. It’s lovely to read of everyone’s plans and seeing photos. I put everything else on hold last week and started this buggy/pushchair sized blanket for my great niece who is expecting in November. It’s a variation of the larger fawn one I did a few years ago. Mum works for the forestry commission so I thought the design and colours tied into that.

I started painting in watercolor sketchbooks about a year ago. It only took me 4 months to fill up the first one but 8 going on 9 months to finish the 2nd. I've been doing more sewing than painting. With warm weather, I've moved my painting back to our sunroom/studio and hope to do more this summer. Here's the latest sketchbook flip through video: YouTube video of Sketchbook

I’m officially on summer break as of 8 last night. I brought the big 3D printer home (it’s currently sitting on the pool table not ready to use) and the laser (it’s currently sitting on the table saw in the garagenot ready to use). Not sure what my summer projects will be.
I love coming here to see everyone’s projects! ❤️

wellway , that EPP project looks stunning. I know I owe 2 peas here a box of Tula scraps. I did not understand how much DD's graduation week would impact my day to day and a couple of other things happened that meant I just did not get it done. The boxes are packed and ready to mail however. I'm going to get that done this week. I have been working on 2 Roar (Tula Pink) projects. The big bang quilt (ETA this one is mine, You can tell because the fussy cutting sucks : and another version of Set Sail using Roar. There was So. much. cutting. with big bang my hands are killing me. I've gotten the circle done, now I need to attach the background. I've spent much of today getting ready for the coming week and reading my book. Trying to give my hands a break before cutting out the background.

bethany102399 you have given yourself lots of work with those two projects but they will be well worth the effort. My friend is making Tula's Tumbling Cosmos running alongside other projects so it will probably be quite awhile before it's completed. Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

I'll be curious to see it. Tula Pink fabric just puzzles me. I like the quilt you showed but I have a very hard time wrapping my brain around how to use that fabric. I had the layer cake for a while but never wanted to cut into it. I had been searching for a pattern to work with the fabric, then just wondered if the company has released anything using that exact layer cake and that lead to the Big Charmer pattern. So my quilt top looks exactly the same except I moved a block that was right beside another block using the same fabric, needed to put space between them. It was the only Tula fabric I had. Her fabrics are so involved and detailed that I feel I can't do them justice but I love seeing what other people create with them. Its a real learning curve.

sueg - Road trip projects are something I have done for years - both car and plane! Fortunately I don't get car/airsick. Typically I work on needlepoint. Oh, I always have a travel project. Usually it is a plain sock (made in self patterning or striping yarn) on a circular needle. No pattern needed and no chance to drop a needle down between two seats. Last year when DS and I travelled for two weeks, I managed to finish one sock and get to the heel of the second on our car and train trips. Here are my squares so far. I didn’t want to have to worry about what colour comes next, so I just made all the centres - 65 of them! lainey - those socks look great. I have that book, but haven’t started anything from it yet.
