jeremysgirl mentioned in another thread that Vicki B has released her DD goods for pre-order and she was looking for talk about it, and I’ve seen quite a few threads about other new Christmas collections coming out… Normally sleepingbooty would’ve had a thread going for a month already but she seems to be busy with IRL stuff this year. So here goes - a thread for all things December and Christmas memory keeping. TBH I’m not well qualified to talk about any of this, but let’s do it anyway. What’s exciting this year? Are things looking bad with all the tariff uncertainty? Have the big names cut back the sizes of their collections? I’m guessing all the Ali Edwards folks are already talking about dates and styles and all that on the Everything AE thread but feel free to link us to what she’s up to this year. I’m really out of the loop this year! I relied on Booty to keep me up to date! PS: LMK if I’ve missed an existing convo. I’ve only seen a cardmaking one.

Thanks for starting us off joblackford. I don't think 2025 is going to be a Dec Daily year for me but I'll be making cards and scrapping Christmas and Christmas adjacent in my regular album. Looking at my Christmas stash - I have no business even looking at the new collections (not that it has stopped me) but I'm going to try really hard to use what I have this year. Good news -there's nothing released yet that I'm dying to own.

So far I haven't seen one thing that I have been interested in. I have placed a few orders for some vintage Christmas ephemera to use in my album.

Same as linda - I’m going to try to use stash because I have SO MUCH Christmas stash!!!! Also, nothing has interested me yet except the VB puffy titles. Still irritated I can’t use a discount on them!

Right now, I am planning to do one but probably will use my own stash. So far I haven’t seen anything I really need.

I'm thinking I'll do a December Daily this year. I've only done it twice.
I'll have to check out some inspiration. I have a few things in my ACOT cart, including 6x8 paper, that I was thinking would work well.

Yay! It's time! Here's me: I'm just going to use my stash this year and not buy anything new. Products get released: Oooh! Must buy all the things. Buys most of the things. NO REGRETS! I've already picked up some of the Santa's Elves paper from the new Echo Park line. He looks very elf-on-the-shelfy and I'm here for that. The line is called Christmas Express. I put a bunch of the new lines in the cart. A few pieces of the simple stories Disney line for a future trip and Christmas party and some of the Simple Stories vintage christmas and I'm not sure why as I'm not usually drawn to the darker colors. I have a few random things here and there and quite a few pieces of the Hard Candy line. I am on the fence about the Simple Stories simple vintage numbers. I like the font a lot but I have a lot of numbers. I will likely buy them. Even though I'm making a senior year album for my daughter, I'm not going to skip DD. My busy time ends early in December so I take Thanksgiving week to prep and get ready, then catch up after things settle down. Can't wait to see albums and all the good stuff!

I’m definitely doing a December album this year. It’s the last year my daughter will be home for the entire month. Pardon me while I get some tissues and cry about senior year again. lol
Not sure if I’ll use Ali’s stuff, follow Shimelle’s supply list, use my stash, or put together a new kit of my own. It all depends on what things looks like when they come out.

I haven't really looked around yet at what is out there. I did see Vicki Boutin go live on Facebook the other night. I'm not blown away by her collection so I'll keep looking around. Maybe this is the year I'll get taken in by AE....hahaha (don't count on it, I haven't bought her stuff yet).
Are there links in the other threads with Christmas stuff? I'll need to go look.

I will be skipping DD again. I did last year as well. I will just include the December fun in the kids regular albums. It got repetitive when I would do the pages in DD and then in ds and dd's albums.

Nothing is exciting me yet. I have plenty of product and I’ve been mostly using my stash for 2025. I will need an album, probably Citrus Twist. I could totally change my mind once I see what Ali’s collection looks like. Definitely doing a DD, I have a few new traditions that I will want a place for, other than PL.

I have so many many years of AE and FJ Christmas DD kits and add-ons unused. I buy every year and have not kept up in years unfortunately but do print my pics out and have plans. I have no business ever buying any Christmas stuff but it does not stop me. I get FOMO. I will likely purchase from AE as always. I have not seen anything I like really in collections from other manufactures. I miss Crate Paper collections and Felicity Jane. But, I love this thread and even though I don't always post, I always follow along.

I'm looking and looking. I think Simple Stories Flannel Season is on my order list. I also kind of like Paper Rose Fairytale Christmas. And that seriously is not a thing like my usual style. Flannel Season is different than anything else in my four past projects. But it looks like fun.

My Countdown to Christmas album is my favorite project of the year & I've already chosen weekends in November and December to visit Frankenmuth & the Christkindlmarket. Last year's Christmas season was kind of a bummer so I'm hoping this year's will be better. Since I'm a digital scrapper, I have a long time to wait to see new Christmas kits, though. The very earliest I've ever seen a digital Christmas kit released was Halloween weekend so I will live vicariously through y'all for awhile. I did show my mom, who is a paper scrapper, the new SS Hard Candy Christmas line & I think she's going to use it to scrap the grandkids' Christmas photos this year.

I will likely purchase from AE as always. I have not seen anything I like really in collections from other manufactures. I miss Crate Paper collections and Felicity Jane. But, I love this thread and even though I don't always post, I always follow along. DD is the project I have done consistently over the years so this year will be no different. last year was my first time to do it with an empty nest, and it was still just as fun and fulfilling so I am excited for this year. I ended up really liking and using AE's release last year. I buy from it every year, but I definitely feel like I used a TON of what I bought last year and so I am hopeful for another good one. I do have loads of stash so truly could do it without buying a thing. Last year was the first year in a while that I only bought AE's product. 49&Market was bust, No Pink Fresh, Crate Paper, In a Creative Bubble inspo, or Felicity Jane. I just miss a lot of the lines that could really use well. I have bought alot of Heidi Swapp product the last few years, but my use of those projects has been very inconsistent and I really need to take a hard look at what I will use. The last few years I have reviewed my prior album, notes and stash to assess what products I used the most vs which ones I bought but did not use well. I try to use this info to inform my buying habits for the next year. I probably need to back off on stamps because I have a stupid amount. I did buy less last year and used the AE ones I bought. I saw Vicki B's release and it just feels like her older releases and it is just not my style. Sad because I really liked the 49&M releases in 2021 - 2023. Also missing Pink Fresh.

What types of things do people scrapbook in their DD albums? I feel like we don't do that much that is Christmas related anymore now that the kids are older.

What types of things do people scrapbook in their DD albums? I feel like we don't do that much that is Christmas related anymore now that the kids are older. linda posted a solid list. I would add that I include December things - which are not necessarily Christmas related. Weather Foods we eat this time of year Things going on - like college kids fall finals, lunch/get togethers with friends, favorite winter foods to eat, wrapping up the year things, prepping for the next year things Also Christmas - music I am listening to the year, books I am reading this December (I love seeing this year after year), traditions continued, not doing this year, new ones to add, presents/shopping, wrapping, the tree - I do decorating the tree, the tree one night with lights, presents under the tree, new/favorite ornament, our dog under the tree . Always do the front door wreath even though I buy the same one from the same place each year. I typically take the photo from a different angle, but I honestly love doing this even when it’s all seemingly the same. I always do a grocery shopping in December, a Target shopping in December, an Amazon shopping in December (and will insert what ever place I am (you are) shopping this December if Target and Amazon do not make this years list ). I have enjoyed doing puzzles the past few Christmases so have included a puzzle each year. Also lots of photos of our dog. What am I snacking on What am I doing for exercise What every day things am I doing this year and happen to be doing in December.

What types of things do people scrapbook in their DD albums? I feel like we don't do that much that is Christmas related anymore now that the kids are older. My kids are middle and high school-aged & this is what we do: -daily Advent calendars (the Aldi cheese calendar is always a hot commodity) -decorating my parents' Christmas tree -going to the tree farm & decorating our Christmas tree -reading Christmas books together before bed -writing down one thing we're grateful for & putting it in the manger under the tree (these get read aloud Christmas morning post-gifts) -going shopping at the mall as a family to buy each others' gifts -finding something silly & Christmas-y for the dogs to wear and posing with them by the tree -celebrating St. Nicholas Day with wooden shoes under the tree that get filled up with candy and a new book -baking Christmas cookies with my mom -driving through a near-by neighborhood known for their Christmas lights -Friendsmas with our friend group + their kiddos (decorating Christmas cookies + each family wearing coordinating Christmas jammies + potluck) -Christmas Eve service -the ornaments I have specially made for them each year by our cousin + why they're significant -Christmas morning at our house -Christmas morning at my parents' house -celebrating Christmas with my nephew (who is an adult) We only have my kids half the time so this is what my husband & I do when they're with their dad: -spend a weekend in November in Frankenmuth to visit Bronner's, take photos with the downtown decorations, and recreate our engagement kiss photo (we got engaged at the Silent Night Chapel there) -spend a day at a Christkindlmarket -attend a Christmas play or show (we went to a candlelight concert with Christmas music last year) -watching Hallmark movies (and sometimes playing Hallmark Christmas movie [strip] bingo!) I also scrap our Christmas card, the kids' wishlists for the year, my Christmas decor, my husband putting lights up on the house, and any other one-off or new things we might try.

What types of things do people scrapbook in their DD albums? I feel like we don't do that much that is Christmas related anymore now that the kids are older. I started doing a December album using Shimelle's "journal your christmas" class. My focus was on the journal because I could NEVER keep up with a daily album no matter how small, especially during December. When I got around to doing the album (in March or April of the following year) I realized that the journal was the true prize. I had captured Christmas, but more importantly daily life - like Ali's "week in the life" sets out to do. I had shopping lists, favourite meals, pet schedules, school schedules, work schedules, how life was going, what was stressful, all mixed into preparation for Christmas. This has led me to diligently journal every day of December since 2011 and I'm SO happy I have them all even though my albums are only done through 2018. I can go back anytime and do the albums, because I have everything recorded. So my DD albums are more like a Christmassy month-in-the-life and many entries are just about the mundane aspects of our life in that year, even though I'm using my Christmas stash to make it pretty. I will definitely be journaling again this year!

Lots of great ideas! The only one I’ll add is I include a page with Spotify Wrapped for each person. And I’ll include ages and something funny, embarrassing or important for each of us. It’s my husband’s favorite part of the albums, when I bring them out each year.

Some of the more unique stories I’ve included:
- major weather events (bushfires) - Christmas cockroaches - treasured family recipes being made (inc the recipe as the journaling) - highlighting a treasured hand me down decoration and the memories I have of it or why it’s important - Renovations (whole house in December as I’m insane) - End of year school pics of kids with teachers (our school year ends December) - yearly pic of kids watching fireworks on tv - receiving my dd supplies in the mail - pics of dogs in Santa outfits - hallmark movie favourites or what I watched - Christmas coffees - vodka advent calendar (and rating each drink)

I have zero doubts this DD will be crazy different than previous years. I’m going to give it my best though. I ordered the PE Christmas album from last year with all the florals. I used some of the collection last year but used an album from my stash.
My biggest want would be KP to fly in and drop something. I KNOW the CS can suck, but damn.
I doubt, based on AE’s history at this point, that there will be anything I have to have… good thing my stash is ridiculous.
As for documentation, I’m hoping to NOT worry about our tree this year but now we have two cats… /laugh
