#28. Spell HARVEST. September here is harvest season. For one point, scrap something about harvesting--maybe apples or veggies or whatever. For one point, include at least one item on your project that begins with each of the letters in HARVEST. so maybe H-the word “happy”+ A-acetate + R-ribbon + V-vellum+ E-echo park + S-stamping + T-triangle. ( or any other products or techniques or manufacturers or...). BONUS: do this on a page that features photos &/or journaling about harvesting and earn 5 bonus points.

#29 Use a word or a phrase in a language that is not your native tongue: Scrap using a word or phrase, perhaps your family uses that is from their native tongue. For example, my bff's father is from Germany and she doesn't know any German words except for a few random ones, like she uses the word for 'underwear" and I always found that so funny. Any random word or turn of phrase from your ancestors or even lingo you picked up from friends or from school. Tell the story why.
# 30 Scrap a page about a random piece of memorabilia: Dig through your files and find something you've saved to tell the story but haven't gotten around so far to do it. Find a corresponding photo and tell that story. Maybe its a old thank you note you received unexpectedly, or a receipt you saved. Tell the reason you saved it.
#31 KonMari Challenge: (not sure if this is allowed or not LMK if not): Identify one item/group of items in your scrap stash that does NOT bring you joy and GET RID OF IT. Toss it, donate it, but get it out and make room for newer, more exciting stuff. Remove the anxiety you get from even looking at it. For me, it's old unpainted chipboard letters. I have tons and to be honest I don't like painting them or altering them. It takes up too much time when I'd rather use something already decorated and ready to go.

Hm..IDK I was thinking everyone gets one point for completing the challenge. I think I mean identify an item from your stash that's stressing you out and taking up space that you know you won't use. It could be all of your lime green eyelets, or it could mean the entire collection of eyelets. You make the call as to what that is. The goal is to remove the stress of keeping it.

Adding....I assumed every challenge equals one point unless otherwise noted. Do you guys think the KonMari Challenge should be broken down further and different points assigned? I'm open to suggestion!

#33 Hello-ween | Make something Halloween-y a little early. October is not that far away, after all! A card, a LO, a mini album spread, whatever. #34a December prep | Prep your December album/LOs/projects in advance to make it easier when the crazy busy month of the holidays comes. Claim 1 point per half an hour spent putting together your album/page/project kits or combing through your Christmas supplies. Claim 1 point per prepped spread for those doing a December Daily/Journal Your Christmas album this year. If you're making cards, give yourself 1 point for every Christmas/Hannukah/Festivus/Kwanzaa/New Year's card made this month. If you're making an Advent calendar from scratch, claim 1 point per daily box/envelope/gift or treat "holder" made. #34b Digital Love | 1 point per digital or hybrid project. #35 Wake Me Up When September Ends | Set yourself a scrappy or crafty goal for the month. Make it a bit of a challenge but still manageable. Share your goal publicly with us in the WMUWSE thread. Then keep us up to date with how you're progressing throughout the month. Each weekly update will earn you a point (4 points to grab). If you share photos of your work in progress for your weekly update, earn another point (4 more points to grab). If you complete your goal and share the end result, take 5 more points! Total points up for grabs: 13

I'm open to suggestion! In general, one point if you "complete" a challenge like "put wood veneer on your project". But several challenges offer a points/occurrance element, like one point/$ spent, or one point/hour organizing. In purging, maybe one point/inch of pp or cs or as you suggested a point value for a category eliminated from your stash. If you detail these values in your original challenge, then that is what goes onto the spreadsheet and the printable challenge list. In the past, myboysnme set up an RAK thread where a person listed an item (like naked chipboard letters, for example) and then someone else would reply saying they would LOVE to have those, and offer up something else that THEY would like to get out of their scraproom. The original poster would mail their unwanted items to that person, and then another person (or the op) could claim the next item and so on. If you wanted to set up a thread like that (and are willing to pay postage on items you were planning to just pitch) that would work great with this challenge.

Ahh, I'm starting to get a little overwhelmed with all this, I didn't want to make it too detailed or complicated. I wanted it stress free and uncomplicated. I think maybe that KonMari wasn't such a great idea for a challenge after all. As it is, I'm starting to get confused about how to tally points, how to do it where. I'm thinking maybe I bit off more than I can chew with all this. It's all good, but I know my limits and this is starting to get way over my head.

I'm thinking maybe I bit off more than I can chew with all this. It's all good, but I know my limits and this is starting to get way over my head. No need to stress. We can leave the challenge exactly the way it is. I like the example of the green eyelets and I think that is clear enough. The RAK activity was a year or more ago, and it was not connected with challenges or points. I think I was just thinking that I kinda like naked chipboard letters if you were looking for a place to disperse them to... This is not math class, so don't worry about the points; just about having fun with the challenges. After the challenge thread closes at end of day on the 3rd, there will be a printable list generated so you can have it in front of you while you craft, and gramma usually does up a spreadsheet for calculating points. I try to keep current with points calculations, and since I don't use the spreadsheet, I use the printable list to add up my points fairly soon after I have posted a creation. Then I list that points total in "my spot" in the Rules thread, and keep a running total there.

#41 STASH BUSTING CHALLENGE:- Use at least 2 papers over 2 years old for 1 point - Use an item that you purchased less than 1 month ago for 1 point - Use a punch or die for 1 point - Use die cuts from ephemera packs/die cut packs for 1 point - Use flags or banners for 1 point - Use "naked chipboard" (naked or painted or whatever you want to do with it...) for 1 point If you do 2 of the above, give yourself an extra 2 points. If you do 3 of the above, give yourself an extra 3 points. If you do 4 of the above, give yourself an extra 4 points. If you do 5 of the above, give yourself an extra 5 points. #42 In stitches - machine, hand or pen stitching, including stitching on buttons, but not including pp that has printed stitching on it. #43 Level it up - use pop dots or the equivalent under photos, papers or embellishments #44 Mix n/ Match titles - Use MORE THAN ONE font/sticker/thicker/pre-fab word/handwritten word/stamp font etc. in your title. 1 point for 2 sources, 2 points for 3 sources etc, max of 5 points. So a title of "A Beautiful Day" with "A" being a tile letter, "beautiful" being a pre-fab sticker, and "Day" spelled in thickers of one font, would be 2 points. #45 Random Icons - I always have fun with this, trying to get those typewriters and telephones and tigers a home on my layouts... 1 point per random icon sticker or die cut - and I think what is "random" to you will vary from person to person, lots of leeway here

#49 Love it or List it. Do you have a cricut cartridge you have never used or an image you have never used? Use it! If you don't have a cricut, bust out your cuttlebug or other cutter and use something you haven't used. If you do not own a cutting machine, use an old punch or shaper or any old tool. AFTER that- decide if you are ever going to use it again. If yes, put it where it is accessible and useful. If not, gift it away or give it to the thrift store for someone else to find joy in it! 1 point per image/cut used. Take 5 points if you decide within 24 hours if you will keep/get rid of it, where it goes, or get it out of your space! If you take longer than 24 hrs, boo to you, only take a point for part 2.

Some "dig deep" challenges in honor of the jobs I have had in my life: 50- teach-do a layout about something you have taught someone to do (your child, or anyone) or something that someone has taught you to do. 51- mom - do a layout about being a mom, or about your mom or another mom you admire. 52- help- As a 911 dispatcher, my job is to help. Do a layout about something you have helped someone with, a time you have needed help, or even literally a time you had to call 911 (or your country's emergency services number) for the above challenges- 5 points for the layout 1 point per word of journaling (for clarification- these need to be your own words not copy/past from another source) 1 point if you include a picture of yourself 1 point if the layout has no photo (journaling/embellishments only) 1 point if your handwriting is on the page somewhere-anywhere, even the date
