Thanks for your responses. I'm not the target audience, since I don't buy/use papers with a glossy finish or gravitate toward the vintage/faux-distressed/floral, watercolor, or rainbow aesthetics/trends. Nothing from this release is added to my wish list.

Thanks for your responses. I'm not the company's target audience, since I don't pocket scrap, detail/fussy cut, or use/buy collection kits, papers with a glossy finish, or flair. Nothing from this release is added to my wish list.

... I even managed to use most of the little sample print rectangle on the branding strips Very satisfying! I also use branding strips. It's surprising how often that ~7.5x0.5" strip of pattern is ideal for a layout (& without having to cut into a 12x12" sheet!).

... I don't like shiny papers. See this thread for a list of manufacturers/brands that offer papers with a glossy finish (& please feel free to add others, if applicable). HTH.

After looking through all of these I realized there weren’t any cardstock selections below the collection. Is there a rhyme or reason why some have them and some don’t @ ACOT? I also wonder about the cardstock recommendations. Perhaps some manufacturers, particularly those offering cardstock, provide retailers with coordinating colors for their own brands (e.g. American Crafts/Bazzill, Photoplay/My Color). Otherwise, I imagine ACOT either digitally or physically comprises the list from existing cardstock inventory once products are in stock (vs digital release images for pre-orders) for its best selling brands/themes/other criteria. Perhaps Matt at ACOT will provide insight.

… The electrostatic mat of the Cameo 5 appears to be intended for more delicate materials, and it is sold separately, so that adds almost an extra $100 to the cost … I don’t really cut “delicate” materials. … As discussed in this thread, the Electrostatic Mat is not required. This optional accessory is an alternative to an adhesive mat only for cutting delicate materials. Therefore, users who don’t (often) cut thin materials won't need to spend the extra $100! … Cameo 4…I’m concerned they are going to discontinue it. It’s my understanding the Cameo 4 was discontinued upon release of the Cameo 5. Only remaining inventory of Cameo 4s at retailers is available.

Thanks for your responses. I'm not the target audience of American Crafts pattern paper collections & especially dislike their cheap acrylic stamp sets, ink cubes, die sets, overabundance of florals, color palettes, etc.

Thanks for your responses. I don't gravitate toward photorealistic &/or glossy papers, so nothing is added to my wish list. However, like many of you, I still appreciate the company's contribution to the industry with its unique themes, color palettes, etc.

Hey scrapbook companies... GIRLS like dinosaurs too. Girls like racing cars. Girls like to get dirty. Ugh. Anyways, no on all of them except the Dinosaur riding a skateboard sticker. Getting that for dd. Likewise, boys' interests & communications are not limited to dinosaurs, cars/trucks, dirt/mud, "cool dude," "awesome," etc. as most manufacturers'/brands' token "boy collection" released each year suggests. It seems obvious that offering non-stereotypically gendered collections would increase their appeal & usability since scrappers could customize the supplies to reflect the specific interests of their story/photo subjects (FTR: in no way, shape, or form should this be interpreted as a request for more florals!)

YES! i now need to order from scrapbook.com. i missed yesterday’s 8% off. it’s not much but would have covered sales tax. SB.com seems to offer 8% off every Monday & certain weekends. Its infrequent free shipping has recently been on $150+ (which IMHO should always be free with no to few exceptions). mrssch - Today’s discount is only 7% at SB.com. HTH

IMHO product names are not indiciative of "supplies clearly NOT designed by women." After all, Mintay Papers is a female-owned company based in Poland! Despite its meanings elsewhere, “Chippies" appears simply to be the company's cutesy (nick)name for its chipboard sheets (see all Mintay Chippies HERE). I agree with both pantsonfire that “Her” featuring heels/cosmetics/etc does not imply women are one-dimensional & joblackford that "Glam" would have been a more accurate & inclusive product name for this sheet of chipboard pieces. I wonder if they’ll come up with a Him collection—hammers, fishing poles, footballs, etc. No. The men get "chippies" for each of their hobbies and they aren't titled "him." They get football and camping. They get their specific interests. They're all on ACOT. I'm actually considering the camping one but they're 2mm thick and that's a lot for an album. I did only read the size of the alpha so I may be wrong. Note football & camping are not hobbies exclusive to men or even for all men (i.e. some children & adults of all genders are also interested in sports, outdoor activities, etc.). Mintay Chippies - Sport includes sporting equipment used by all genders, while Mintay Chippies - Outdoor offers camping/hiking gear & both female & male silhouettes. Per Mintay Chippies product descriptions, the assorted chipboard pieces are 1.55mm thick.

Per the Silhouette website, the Electrostatic Mat (available in black or white; sold separately) is an accessory - not necessary - only for cutting delicate materials with the Cameo 5. It "holds thin materials in place rather than rollers or a sticky cutting mat, so "thin materials will not tear or curl when removed." ETA: I haven't heard about this.. I'll have to google it. I'm happy with my Cameo 4, but to never have to buy a mat again would sway me! Silhouette's fall release is discussed (with links) here. Note the Electrostatic Mat, sold separately, is not a replacement for adhesive mats. It is an alternative to adhesive mats only when cutting delicate materials. An adhesive mat is still necessary for thick &/or textured materials. HTH

After comparing features, would you choose a Cameo 4 (on clearance) or a new Cameo 5 (included in the Silhouette's fall release discussed here), & why? TIA.
