In this thread, joblackford wrote: [Shimelle] also mentioned the loooong timeline between the frenzy of designing and the product actually showing up in stores, and alluded to some disconnect between stores and customers, the stores forgetting that people make the pages AFTER they’ve done the thing. I would’ve loved to dig more into that observation. I think she meant that we don’t know what our Christmas photos will look like until after December so selling Christmas supplies July-Nov kind of sets up a situation where people are guessing what they’re going to want and need. What are your thoughts about the timing of releases? TIA.

PaperAngel my boss's supervisor has only been in this role for maybe 4-5 months so there's no way I'm faulting her for not being responsive. I got the feeling after our discussion today that what I shared with her today was merely icing on the cake. She's no dummy and she wasn't totally in the dark about things going on. I decided this morning after seeing what was submitted that the ship is going down and this was my last ditch attempt to save myself until I can find another job. I was unaware the director's manager hadn't been there for the duration of your employment. That certainly changes the dynamic, & looping her into your dilemma was undoubtedly the correct decision. Your input today probably gives her a clearer picture, so she can advise the director on how to manage this situation & properly hold everyone accountable going forward. It will take time but just having the assurance that someone wants to improve the work environment & productivity of the group is encouraging (especially should other opportunities not offer work from home, schedule flexibility, etc. like your current position). Now you can continue to (only) complete your job description knowing that you've done everything possible in your position to improve the situation, & now it's up to management. Wishing you a positive resolution...

Perhaps "pocket card," "3x4 pocket card," "4x6 pocket card," "3x4 life card," "4x6 life card," etc. will yield more results. HTH.

IMHO everything remains status quo. If your coworker was on medical leave over a year ago, unresponsive to the teams she supports post-return, & reports have not been delivered in a timely manner for months, I doubt the director's manager is just learning about this situation today. Yet, she allegedly just contacted HR for guidance on your coworker's medical status (which she should not have even mentioned to you) that's been an issue for over a year! It's no surprise she has poorly managed your director & this problem continues...
Given the director's litany of excuses, perhaps he also cites you - newest employee, no training from outset since established coworker was on medical leave/limited upon return, etc - to his manager as one of the reasons deadlines are not consistently met. Whether intentional or unintentional, your coworker's actions may also imply to others that you report to her, are still learning the job, etc. via copying internal clients on emails instructing you on how to complete tasks she thought were overdue, removing a document from the company server & submitting it without your data, etc.
I suggest continuing to document completion of your job description/division of the group workload (& start posting shared document populated with your data to the server, save onto your hard drive, & send an email to yourself/coworker/director noting its completion/post). Best wishes with your job search!

I purchased a citrus twist album ... Which color did you choose? I like CT's beautiful array of album colors; unfortunately, they're not offered in 12x12. ... and yesterday I found a Simple Stories travel collection paper pad from 2016 at a thrift store for $5... I didn't know Simple Stories made 12 by 12 paper pads, but I guess they did because there was also a wedding one for sale. IIRC the SS 12x12 paper pads were part of the SN@P! (pocket scrapbooking) line previously sold at Hobby Lobby (& subsequently at now-defunct Tuesday Morning).

Thanks PaperAngel - most of what I'm downsizing is ending up on cards or in my albums but I always have a bag for donations for those items I absolutely won't be able to use. I exclusively scrapbook so either use leftover papers/scraps & embellishments on future layouts or donate them along with unwanted/themed embellishments. I accumlate donations in a designated bin in my craft room & donate once it is full (most recently to an after school art program for at-risk students whose creations on display at drop-off were beyond impressive!).

... I need something for doing tons of cutting over and over. Currently have a Fiskars Procision Rotary bypass trimmer. From day one it has cut crooked. It cuts beautifully, just not straight. ... As posted upthread, I've had the opposite experience since mine cuts straight every time! Perhaps your trimmer is defective. Consider taking advantage of its lifetime warranty & request a replacement from Fiskars. HTH

[bold is mine] Wait, what!?! Funny story: Over the weekend, a Duke fan was pontificating that Duke - unlike UNC, Kentucky, & other blue blood basketball schools - also excelled in football. He was shocked to learn Duke football was ranked #18 below UNC at #17. 😂 It behooves LSU for FSU to do well since they beat us! Anyone but Clemson![bold is mine] That we definitely agree on! (This UNC alum dislikes Clemson way more than Duke thanks to former Clemson/current Tennessee basketball's head coach)

From manufacturers' perspective: If it isn't broke, don't fix it! Manufacturers generally don't stray from the mainstream/established themes because they are proven sellers (ETA: perhaps because they’re often the only available product to purchase!). Especially during continued pandemic supply/labor/etc. issues & economic uncertainty, companies are typically more risk-adverse & hesitant to invest in products that may not sell well. As a result, the industry has become formulaic/repetitive/predictable.
Since our scrap subjects/styles/perspectives/preferences/etc differ, it's also financially impossible for manufacturers to purchase licenses to use copyrighted/tradmarked material from every music artist, college/professional sports team, tv show, movie, theme park, etc. to create custom collections for each of our interests/activities. To document your concert, consider non-themed pattern papers & embellishments in your desired color palette combined with actual memorabilia from the concert plus tickets, labels, music notes, or other icons/shapes created using stickers, stamps, dies, stencils, etc. HTH.

Thanks for your responses. Overall, this release is too feminine, floral, &/or yellow. I'm not the target audience for the simple vintage collections & only like the simple plaid on the reverse of Winter Wonder - Snow Happy from this release, so nothing is added to my wish list.

I exclusively scrapbook, have used the Fiskars ProCision Rotary Bypass Trimmer for over eight years, & highly recommend it, if your workspace can accomodate its 19.5L x 8.75W (unfolded) footprint. It's accurate (i.e. cuts straight every time!) with a self-sharpening/never-needs-to-be-replaced blade, folds for storage &/or portability, & has a lifetime warranty. HTH.

Beautiful & fun photos! Purple & silver individually are rare, together is unheard of, & with a wedding theme is...well, a unicorn. Although uncertain your scrapping style, consider the following: - Carta Bella - True Love Foil (silver) (each of the three patterns is available individually or together as a collection pack) - Reminisce - Wedding Day: Wedding Bokeh (reverse side) - Reminisce - Winter: Snow Background
- Bo Bunny - Brighton: Ornate- Prima - Aquarelle Dreams, including Dreamers In Love, Bloom & Blossom, & Timeless Tales - Doodlebug - Sprinkles Vellum: silver (or similar purchased locally from HL, Joann, etc.) - TCW - Micro Hearts Stencil or Stampers Anonymous - Tim Holtz: Twinkle Stencil (or other versatile pattern) used with silver glaze (e.g. TCW), silver ink, embossing ink + silver embossing powder, Nuvo/Pops of Color drops, or other medium - Enamel dots, Nuvo, or SB.com's Pops of Color in your desired shades of purple, navy, & silver throughout to unify the pages

containing various numbers to create dates/years (e.g. 12/31/2022, 2023, 1/1/2024) in each collection is puzzling. I just looked at the images for the sticker pad and it does have some numbers. But I find the quality of those pads to be lacking and I don't typically buy them. The stickers are so thin. I noticed the one page of numbers in the Noteworthy Sticker Book. It includes one each of numbers 0-12 in different sizes/fonts that feature the same woodgrain (not among the pattern papers in this collection) on the bottom halves & various patterns (matching the pattern papers from the collection) on the top halves. It appears they are intended to document the months (with an extra 0), leaving nothing to also create the year or specific dates (e.g. 2023, 1/1/2024). As you mentioned, another issue is these numbers in the SS Sticker Books are not cardstock, rather fragile/thin/planner weight. Not providing a numbers-only embellishment or tool option to create dates/years/whatever is certainly a missed opportunity to make this collection versatile & attractive to more buyers!

... Winter wonder misses for me and I can't put my finger on it. Too pale I think. How will this go with snowy photos? And... roses? A page of roses??? ... The roses were a real turn off for me too. ... I noticed a lot of the Christmas lines this year (from various companies) have a TON of flowers too. Not poinsettas but just random flowers. I don't get it. Same. IMHO the roses were inserted for compliance with the current florals trend (discussed here), which I dislike (as reflected in my recent spending).

... I don’t like the mustardy yellow they use. That yellow, olive mushy green, or tomato red are always an instant no for me. Same. Might not be true for OA devotees, but I'm feeling a bit of an October Afternoon vibe from Noteworthy. I think it reminds me of Girl Friday? Understandable, since Noteworthy is an office theme collection with an old-fashioned/vintage aesthetic like OA's 9 to 5 collection (note Girl Friday is one of its pattern papers).

Winter Wonder is what happens when Crate Paper's iconic Snow & Cocoa and Simple Stories' Feelin' Frosty have a baby, I swear (minus that dark navy). Accurate! The popularity of the CP Snow & Cocoa aesthetic certainly has staying power, given it was released in 2017. I love Winter Wonder, EXCEPT for the font. I hate the font. ... I also dislike the scrawly font (& handdrawn illustration style) in this collection (& others with the same aesthetic). I like winter wonder and could even tolerate the pink, but I'm not a fan of the bunny. It seems a little odd to me in a winter collection and personally, I don't like just animal heads like the bunny in the ephemera. I realize that probably sounds very picky. I would probably still buy the collection. ... The pale color palette & bunny make me wonder if Winter Wonder didn't start as a spring/Easter collection concept.

Happy New Year: I could use that number paper for things other than a new year... Looking at what's in the collection with only one of every number and no zero you can't spell out 2024 ... They really missed an opportunity to make a set of numbers for Noteworthy. I'm going to have to buy that paper and cut it up. ... Agreed. While both collections include a pattern paper with random numbers (i.e. It's A New Year & December), the lack of at least one numbers-only ephemera pack, stickers, stamps, dies, &/or other embellishment/tool containing various numbers to create dates/years (e.g. 12/31/2022, 2023, 1/1/2024) in each collection is puzzling.

If you're not using them, then consider donating to a local charity. It will free storage space for supplies you will use, while simultaneously encouraging others' creativity. HTH. ETA: ... I still use them (even the years that have passed) because I don't scrap in chronological order. I have a bunch of ones with different words & symbols on them and use those a lot too. Same.

Thanks for your responses. I'm not the target audience of American Crafts pattern paper collections. While I especially dislike the cheap acrylic stamp sets, ink cubes, & (blinding) neon/highlighter yellow in the color palettes, the beautiful Azure Blue glaze is added to my wish list.
