... Smitten is less garish than I've come to expect from Becky's lines. ... I'm really surprised I like the colour scheme on the New Year's line. I'm so used to seeing dark lines full of gold and black so I love the white backgrounds and the addition of pink even though I know it is going to be polarising. I might pick up the star paper from this one. Perfect desciptors of her collections as well as the standard NYE color scheme. I also like the white background of the NYE mini collection but wish it was paired with black & silver, which is on trend, rather than gold & ubiquitous pink.

... I really wish they did digital kits as well ... Wait, what!?! Photoplay doesn't offer digitals? I'm surprised any company nowadays would NOT offer digital versions of existing designs as another revenue stream.

Same. I don't gravitate toward the vintage aesthetic, especially disliking heavily pre-distressed paper edges & people images (which also often lack diversity). Note the basketball court image found on the journaling cards & stamp set erroneously shows 7 players on each team. I know I'm in the minority, but that's what I like about Carta Bella. I'm also drawn to vintage images, mainly for Halloween, Christmas, and school. The only reason for school is because I've been on a forever project scrapping my school teacher Grandma's life. You're not alone, given CB has been in business over 11 years!

Given Colorplay is reportedly Photoplay's in-house brand, I would prefer the company use the same finish or differentiate between their two brands with weights/textures like Echo Park (i.e. Echo Park paper is 65 lb/smooth, while Carta Bella, a brand under the Echo Park umbrella, is 80 lb/linen). The papers that Photoplay prints in house are the slicker Colorplay lines. The Photoplay are their manufactured papers. Exactly. I wish Photoplay printed its Colorplay papers in-house using the same non-glossy/slick finish as its (Photoplay) branded papers.

Do you dislike linen texture in general (including its solid color cardstock) or just for pattern paper? I find it hard to mix and match their textured papers with other non-textured paper, or maybe it's the colors and not the textures... I am probably just weird. Perhaps its the weight - both actual & visual - of the CB papers? They are cardstock weight at 80 lb/textured, while most pattern papers are 65 lb/smooth. Therefore, they are & appear heavier than most pattern papers. Personally, the few CB papers I purchase are specifically to use as a patterned substitute for my usual solid color textured Bazzill cardstock base or as a background (adhered to my usual base).

... Slam Dunk - meh. Even if I had a basketball player, I don't know how I'd use the vintage look of these papers. ... ... Though I have kids in sports the vintage isn’t appealing. ... ... I was excited to see a new basketball line ... Thankfully I don't need basketball because I can't stand vintage sports lines (not a fan of most vintage lines). ... ... Its nice to know I’m not the only one who isn’t really into the vintage look. Same. I don't gravitate toward the vintage aesthetic, especially disliking heavily pre-distressed paper edges & people images (which also often lack diversity). ... I do like the light purple color in the girl birthday line. ... I am happy when I see a nice purple in a collection. ... Same. I wish it were included more often in collections (& not just stereotypical girl/fairy-related or the occasional Halloween themes).

I've been scrapbooking for two decades & had only a QK Squeeze tool (plus a couple versatile QK alphas & basic shapes) before investing in a Sizzix Big Kick a decade ago (which led to the rapid expansion of my QK collection), a Sizzix Sidekick a couple years ago, & a Silhouette Cameo 4 a few weeks ago. ETA: ... Last week I was thrifting again and found a sidekick. I have zero need for this, but it was 3 dollars so I could not leave it behind We shall see if I end up using it at all. I can vouch for the usefulness of a Sidekick for quickly diecutting labels, tags, letters, numbers, etc. Enjoy!

Like Elsabelle , my constant "joy" in scrapbooking is reminiscing about the subject/event/etc. when creating a layout.

Thanks for your responses, & hope you enjoy your hauls! After only buying paper holders & fridge bins for supply storage during the first half of the year, I purchased pattern paper, several stencils, a stamp set, a die, & a Silhouette Cameo 4 this quarter.

Thanks for your responses. I choose not to create special projects, such as One Little Word, Day/Week in the Life, October/December Daily/Documented, Journal Your Christmas, etc., & have a backlog of stories/photos to scrap, so I'm not concerned about the timing of releases. I would, however, appreciate the introduction & availability of versatile, non-themed, white-based, clean, & modern collections in usable color palettes throughout the year.

Not often; I'm a standing scrapper & always put-away-as-I-go (as a stall tactic for time to consider choices in the next step of my layout process, since I'm both creatively-challenged & indecisive!).

Thanks for your responses. I don't gravitate toward this aesthetic, scene & photorealistic patterns, detail/fussy cutting, or chipboard. Nothing from this release is added to my wish list.

If you purchased quality photopolymer stamps, they don’t turn yellow or melty/sticky like cheap acrylic stamps! i decided to go back to clear stamps because they are a cheaper alternative to rubber stamps for for images that i know i won't use over and over again. if i use them for a year or two, i'm good with letting them go after that. i remember when clear stamps first came out. i spent lots of $$ on Technique Tuesday, Autumn Leaves, and other brands. they held up well and i had them for years even though i didn't use them much (some if at all). even they yellowed through time. these days, i'm fine with purging clear stamps after a year or two. perfectly fine with it. if i love the image that much, i will find something similar in a rubber stamp. Note "clear stamps" were originally (i.e. almost two decades ago & including the then-popular Technique Tuesday & Autumn Leaves brands) made of acrylic which eventually turns yellow & melty/sticky as you described. For about a decade now, most scrapbook & stamping companies (American Crafts & its brands are notable exceptions) have made "clear stamps" using photopolymer that does not turn yellow or melty/sticky. If you recently purchased "clear stamps" made of quality photopolymer (check their product descriptions), they will last beyond a few uses & "a year or two." HTH.

Too much! But, I went to a real store Saturday. ... You're lucky (although I realize your bank account may not agree)! There are no LSSs left here, & I miss the in-person supply shopping experience - perusing entire walls bursting with a rainbow of Bazzill cardstock, aisles filled with multiple racks of patterned papers, pegs full of embellishments & tools, etc. <sigh>[

... My main thought on this topic is that I wish there were a few FAVOURITE lines, more generic, less thematic, that were ALWAYS available. I would use them over and over again. I don't know why our hobby has to "reinvent the wheel". But that would be hard on retailers because they rely on FOMO for sales so much. ... IIRC manufacturers released new product only 2-4 times per year, during the industry's heyday, so each collection was available longer. Customers (excited for their new hobby) complained about the lack of fresh inventory, which prompted retailers to demand & manufacturers to supply the monthly or bi-monthly (every two months) releases that continue today. This also influenced big box retailers, which reset merchandise/displays only twice a year, to produce & stock year round every year their own in-house products (i.e. thin papers/embellishments in generic themes & predictable color palettes) rather than "outdated" designer supplies that customers had likely already bought elsewhere months earlier. The industry has never found a happy medium between popular products that sell out quickly which are rarely or never restocked (at certain online retailers) & those that are rarely or never replaced (at big box stores)...ugh!

I think it's a no-win situation for the companies ... ... it makes sense to have the scrapbook releases line up with the craft supplies in general. I think the better fix than adjusting the timelines would be to have a more consistent supply ... Because right now for the more popular brands, it's feast or famine as coveted items sell out very quickly Agreed. Retailers dictate when/how many months holiday decor will be stocked, whether to reorder, etc. In turn, manufacturers provide & customers shop for product on this timeline. It seems disadvantageous to all parties when retailers choose not to restock popular items &/or manufacturers discontinue them after only one output cycle!

For those who have bought chippies, like what are they like? Easy to color? Sturdy? While I've never purchased them, I've randomly watched a few YT videos (although I don't recall which channel) in which they were among the supplies used: Mintay
