I suppose maybe it has been a year...I was on a proper shopping ban for while so I didn't even look. We don't have any other discount-type stores here Do you have The Works or The Range?

When I first started scrapbooking I used to run up to tk maxx on my lunch break, I have found some amazing scrapbooking stuff there. I’ve found Maggie Holmes paper packs for pennies in the past, and roller stamps for £1.99!
In the last year, I don’t even bother checking anymore. I think they really have given up on stocking scrapbooking supplies.

Summer. I don’t go to the beach, swim, do tropical. I grew grew up in Southern California and fall/winter were foreign to me as a kid. I live in a permanent state of excitement/anticipation about mid-September when the runup to the three holiday months begin. I also now live in a region with four seasons. Fall is my favorite. Summer is my favourite - I grew up/live in the UK where summer is foreign to us 😂 I live in a permanent state of excitement/anticipation about travel in June/July/August whilst keeping my fingers and toes crossed that we might have something of a warm summer!

Autumn, I don't like dull/rich colours really. I always like my scrapbooks to be fresh and vibrant.

Cancelling my SBTM kit was the best thing I have done commitment wise lately. I haven't missed it at all.

This woman genuinely talks sh*t for a living.
I quote
"It's been the most rewarding for me because I get to see everybody's pages, I just follow the studio calico hashtag" re. the Travelers Notebook subscription
Of all the things she could have said. She could have said she finds it rewarding because it's opened up people who were not traditional memory keepers into the craft, or referenced sales - for example, she's seen a spike in sales amongst younger people getting into memory keeping (or something similar).
She wouldn't say that though because it's not been "rewarding" for her at all. She talks out of her bottom, honestly.

Just when you think SC has run out of stuff to make fun of....April is on her stories talking about sc screwups and apologizes. Notice now she was kind of laughing all the way through? Glad you think it’s funny April how your company have screwed over so many people over many years because I certainly don’t.

Well done AE you did it!

I guess it’s equally important to remember that if you do want to use original photos - do it. Haha! You and I will continue to dance battle with this one! Scrapbooking encompasses all kinds of paper arts. That's why it depends on your goals. Saying there are no rules to me is like knitting a sweater and just dropping stitches and cutting holes and doing whatever you want. You can do it, but if you want the end product to be a wearable piece of clothing, there are ways to do it. Yes, you can use original photos, but it depends on what kind of scrapbooking you are doing. Preservation Memory keeping and heritage scrapbooking with an eye to archival results does have different 'methods' than someone who is doing paper arts with a goal of creating with art processes. Every hobby has some rules. You can go play golf and just hit the ball willy nilly or throw it across the golf course, but that is not 'playing golf.' However, as always, people will do what they want and some will stand by there are no rules and others will disagree. I think the difference is that golf does have rules. Golf has to have rules to be a sport in which there are winners and losers. It’s not the same for scrapbooking, there is no competition or winners or losers here. I have seen so many people not want to get into any kind of art for fear of doing it wrong. It’s why I refuse to accept that there are rules to scrapbooking or art. Plenty of people who do do art, don’t want to share it incase they receive bad feedback/are scared to be seen of doing it wrong - and I think that is a real shame. If you want to knit a jumper with holes in, do it if it gets you knitting. If you want to memory keep but you only have original photos, or you want to use clashing colours together, who is anyone to tell you you’re doing it wrong? If you use original photos, yes you could regret it in the future by potentially destroying photos that cannot be restored. But it is not a rule of scrapbooking. It’s your memories, your memorabilia - do what you like.

There are no rules in scrapbooking. I think there are a few depending on your goals. Like if you are using original photos that can't be copied, don't hack them up. I really feel that people do regret that kind of thing. I guess it’s equally important to remember that if you do want to use original photos - do it. There is no right or wrong in this hobby, there are no rules! I think my strength is in staying grounded and keeping it manageable. I keep my stash minimal but refresh it regularly, I believe done is better than perfect, and I always have my ultimate goal in mind - recording mine and my fiancé’s life together. With that comes my super organised photos and my at home printing routine. I want to enjoy this hobby for as long as possible so I try to keep it easy for myself.

I thought I was die hard citrus twist now, having left studio calico after a few years of subscribing.
I do really like the CT stamps and embellishments but I can’t use the paper pads up quick enough and I need more from the cards.
If you want a kit that has a good mix of embellishments, I would still recommend CT. I think I’ll subscribe for a few more months before looking for a new option to mix it up.

I just cancelled my story kit and story stamp. I’m pretty much over Ali. I didn’t buy one single piece of her December Daily supplies. I just done with it. I still have a few months in my stories by the month so I’ll keep getting that and evaluate continuing when that obligation is done. I do kinda like some of the December cards, so I’ll just pay $10 a month for the next two months, until I can cancel without a fee or decide to keep it. I am over Ali too. Over the repetitiveness and over the recent money grabbing especially now she admits she would only do two projects a year. I just find her so fake. She reads these books about living a minimalist life and how to live more with less blah blah blah but she pushes million dollar chipboard on her loyal followers, I’m hitting snooze on the AE show.

I would love a challenge board. But for clarification only about half of the posts on the first page are challenges - 17 of 31 right now. Yes but they all have quite repetitive names - the word October and Sketchtember is all I see right now when I go on that page. So when I quickly scroll through on my phone, it means all the other threads get lost.

linda It's not that I don't feel welcome, but challenges are more than I can handle right now. It would be fun to dip into a subforum when I need inspiration from a challenge thread. But since I don't participate in challenges, I have nothing to add to them. I like gs threads where I can add my two cents. This is me. I feel welcome here, I just often pop on for a couple of minutes at a time - when I'm commuting on the train, or having a cup of tea in the morning, and I like to quickly scan the board and see if there are any threads I want to read, and I've found it a little harder recently to find them, thats all

I would agree. Having said that, please know that I love that the challenges are here and that they are motivating! I certainly don't want to take that from anyone! I too though have found myself not participating on the boards as much lately because I have to scroll through everything to find the non-challenge posts (though there haven't been many of those lately). This. I’ve stopped checking in so much because the challenge threads overwhelm the board. Maybe some others are feeling the same which is why there has been less non-challenge posts. No disrespect to anyone of course - the challenges are brilliant, I just don’t participate in them and prefer the general chit chat threads.

I don’t care if the woman was so happy she was let go because she was just about to announce she has won a million dollars on the lottery and she’s quitting - you do not air your personal business affairs like Becky did on Instagram.
It’s tacky and unnecessary and stinks of another privileged scrap celebrity trying to be relatable.

The ship has sailed for me on 9x12. Its too expensive as an international and SC are too unreliable.
I vowed never to buy 9x12 again unless someone like SS or WRMK release albums. If I want a larger format than my 6x8, I’ll use 12x12.

I don’t know why China is seen as such a bad guy in the manufacturing industry. They do a lot of stuff I don’t agree with (they are definitely contributing to the decline of the world) but the prices mean it’s affordable for us to buy, and it keeps people in China in work and therefore able to support their families.
Yes by bringing more manufacturing to the US it would create more jobs for US citizens but nobody would be able to afford to buy the product!

I think the majority of us see digital files as a lesser than equal alternative to physical product, which is why the price seems high. We want digital files as a ‘cheap’ way to get supplies by printing and cutting them ourselves. Digital files are not always intended to be a physical replacement. They are a product with a purpose in their own right, they can be used over and over and suit the needs of digital-only scrappers. That’s why AE charges comparable prices for her physical kit and her digital kit. She sees them both as equal. I disagree with this. The profit margin is much higher for digital products because there is no cost of production at all. No production cost = sell for less than a physical, shippable alternative. Whether or not the purchaser intends to print and utilize the items the same as a physical product is irrelevant. The exception being the cost of licensing for commercial use if you intend to make money off of the digital content you're purchasing. Katie/Ali pretty much confirmed the idea that they see the digital kit as an equal entity to the physical kit which is why the price is comparable. I actually didn’t give my opinion in my post. I agree that digital products should be cheaper. For me, the value is all in the physical product, and digital requires more leg work for me (cutting, printing) so I don’t want to spend as much money.
