I have a friend that bought the Toilet Trouble game for her grandkids. She said they loved it and played it all the time when at her house. She told me I should get one for Christmas for my grandkids. Nope! I'm not doing that. I don't care if they might love it, it's too crass for me.

OMG! I am pea livid over my health insurance. DH and I are self-pay and make too much money for subsidies but go through the Healthcare Marketplace to find insurance. We got a notice late last fall that our 2017 policy was no longer available and the next closest policy was going to be almost $500 more per month. So within the first week of the open enrollment period I was on the Marketplace website looking at new plans. Found a different policy (different company) that would cover what we needed and signed up. This was in mid-November. Got an email shortly after that we needed to pay the premium. Cool! I used the link and paid the premium, no problem. Reconciled my bank account at the end of November and the premium had been deducted, even better. In early December got a welcome packet, insurance cards, etc. Got a statement dated December 4 from the new insurance company showing a credit for my premium that would be applied to January. I went online through the customer portal in late December to set up automated premium deductions. Got an error message the plan was not ready yet. I waited until after January 1 thinking that was what I had to do. On January 5 I still could not set up the online account. Called and got a young lady who, after looking at my information, said that the company hadn't been able to connect my policy with my payment but she could see where I paid the first premium. She said she was going to send all the information to a different dept. and they would get it all corrected. She even gave me a reference number in case I needed to called back. She said it would take about a week for this to happen. I get back online today to try again. Same error message. Hmmmm . . . call them again. Talked to a nice young man. Come to find out because I paid the premium before December 1 they didn't know what to do with my payment so they CANCELLED our policy on January 2 and are sending us a refund check. He tells me we have no insurance right now!! WHAT!!! I was so angry! The young man was trying to help me but he couldn't really do anything (yes, I was nice but he could tell I was really upset!). He said that I'd have to go through the Marketplace and reapply. He could see the policy, he could see the payment, yadda, yadda, yadda but no go on the insurance. I told him that the young lady I talked to a couple of weeks ago never mention the policy was cancelled. He could see that it had been when she spoke to me but failed to tell me this important piece of information! If I had known that I would have done something about it then and there! The young man wrote everything up to have it reviewed and then transferred me to a Marketplace rep. She also was very nice and got us set up with another policy. But it won't take affect until March 1st. She did escalate it to try to have the coverage retroactive to January 1 but could not guarantee it would be accepted. We'll know within two weeks if it is. I could just spit nails right now. DH and I have been unknowingly walking around for two weeks without any healthcare coverage and may not have any for the next six weeks. Before I called I went for blood work this morning for a doctor's appt. next week and I can't miss it. Neither are now going to be covered. I don't still don't understand how two different service reps could see my policy and my payment but someone (or some computer) somewhere else couldn't manage to put 1 + 1 together and avoid this mess. ARRRGGGGH!!! I'm still angry about it. The kicker is that within about 10 minutes of signing up a second time I got an email with the same message that I needed to pay my premium. Luckily the Marketplace rep told me not to pay the premium until a week before March 1. Otherwise I would have paid too far ahead of time again! So freakin' frustrating!

They are closing one on the north side of Indianapolis. I'm really surprised because it's always busy. On Saturdays there's usually a long line of cars at the traffic light to get in the parking lot. There's going to be a lot of unhappy people over this one. I stopped going there simply because of the traffic and crowds at that location. Otherwise it was a nice, clean store.

I'm sorry your dealing with an injury at this time of the year. I hope your recovery goes more quickly than the doctor says. Here's mine: Within in the last couple of weeks I've been diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR). It's not life threatening but I'll be on prednisone for 2 - 4 years! Considering I was perfectly healthy three months ago, I am having difficulty getting a grip on having a chronic illness for which there is no cure. Basically, I have to wait it out until my body heals itself. And I am not looking forward to all the "lovely" side affects of the prednisone, either. (If anyone else here has PMR, I'd love to chat with you about it.) My father just got over this and it may be better than you think. Last October he couldn't even move he was in such pain. They diagnosed him by the Beginning of December and he started on the prednisone the 2nd week or so of December. He was also told that it could be a couple of year regiment. As of August he has been off the prednisone and is so much better. In October he had his last appointment with Rheumatology doctor and they did the test and it looks like he has kicked it and does not have to see him again. My father is 73 so he still has aches and pains but just normal ones as he says. He was able to cut wood this fall. Last year in September he could barely move, we had to have a friend come and help us close down our camp because he couldn't even do the minimal stuff and I couldn't do it by myself. His also came on pretty suddenly. Around Labor Day 2016 he used a push brush hog and to clear a large area for an annual woodlot party. At first we thought it was just because of that, but it got worse and he couldn't even move. It took a bit to find the diagnosis but once that happened he was on the road to recovery. Sorry for the very long post but I just wanted to give you hope that it could be less than a couple of years. It was just about a year for my father. And while it is vile and you really don't want to take it any longer than necessary...Prednisone is a miracle drug. Thanks for the uplifting story! I appreciate you posting this. I've been feeling pretty down about the 2 - 4 year thing. And, you are right, the prednisone has been a wonder drug so far. I can actually function normally right now, whereas a couple of weeks ago DH had to literally lift me in and out of bed.

My hubby is one of those guys that will not touch my purse even if I tell him to get something out of it. He'll bring it to me and ask me to retrieve whatever it is he wants (usually some cash), holding it at arms length.

gale w I'm in Indiana, too, and we went with Ambetter last year solely for the lower premiums. I know two other people who did the same. None of us has had any problems with them. Now, my family has only had well visits, preventative care, etc. so I can't speak to filing claims for something not covered under that. My GF has had the same experience as me. Maybe that will make you feel a little better about them.

I'm in! I've been doing IF since June and I really like it. I currently do two 24 hours fasts a week and 16:8 most other days except Saturday. I'd like to either add another 24 hour fast or combine two days into a 48 hour fast. miyooper2b I look forward to learning more from you. I think I will begin with 16:8 next week. Any tips? Just be aware the the first couple of days are hard. At least for me they were. I didn't make it all the way through 16 hours the first few times but it gets easier as your body adjusts. Hunger comes in waves and if you can manage the waves IF is pretty easy. Bone broth will be your friend during the times you struggle. It was a gradual process and I learned that if I missed a mark it was okay. I've done better at starting over with IF than any other way of eating. With other diets after a "bad day" I'd call it quits almost immediately and beat myself up for not having enough willpower. For me IF is a different mindset. I can have whatever I want, I just have to wait until a certain time to have it. For whatever reason it works for me.

Few questions: Someone asked if we can do any kind of plan. Sure Just a place to offer support to one another. Please don't post negative comments about what another Pea is doing for their plan. Support is welcome, but let's be nice. Everyone loses weight differently. What works for one, may not work for another. I set it up for 7 days so that we could start another thread for a new week. I think the threads could become long. Just an idea. I can take the date off of it. My book, "The Obesity Code" arrived yesterday. I am a little disappointed at first glance. A lot of background information, but only a small portion of the book is devoted to the "plan". I am trying to find more information online. Those of you who have done this before will be a great source of information and inspiration to me. : ) The first book is full of details and studies but not much "how to" stuff. I found Dr. Fung's second book The Complete Guide to Fasting to be much more concise with lots of tips. Jimmy Moore, who podcasts I follow, writes the first chapter. Jimmy Moore is a big promoter of Keto.

I was at work. We had just gotten internet access in our office and I was online when a headline popped up and said she had been injured in an accident. A couple of hours later it was changed to say she had died. It was very somber in our office that evening.

Absolutely trust your instincts. It doesn't matter what someone looks like or how they are dressed.
We have a new UPS guy at our office. Very clean cut and nice looking. But something about him bothers me and has every since I first saw him. I make the guys in our office sign for our shipments nowadays and my employees know exactly why I won't do it anymore. And I made them install a panic button for me just in case I happen to be alone in the office and he's making a delivery.
Trust your instincts! Always!

I live in the midwest and have no clue what any of you are talking about. Off to google this. Funny how trends seem to start on the coasts and slowly move inward. Of, course being in Indiana, we're still in the 1950's in some ways.

DH in his best Joey Tribbiani voice: "How you doin'?"
If it's me making the first move "Why don't you come on over here and visit your wife?"
Not really euphemisms but we find it funny.

1. It won't stop raining. We've had just about 7" in the last 10 days and are supposed to get another 1" today. Everything is completely soaked and my basement is very damp. Running the dehumidifier is just running up the electric bill.
2. Stupid neighbor is leaving his dogs outside. They are in an fenced area in his backyard but have no shelter. They bark from the time he leaves at 5:00 am until the time we leave for work about 8:00 am. This morning DH and I had had it with him and called the city. It's pouring down rain (see above vent) and those poor pups are drenched. DH almost jumped the fence and let them out so they could at least get under the porch for shelter. We decided to call the city because this guy has a short fuse and has gone off on various neighbors over the years. I don't trust him to not do something really stupid if he found out DH has let his dogs out.

I volunteer on the board for a not for profit. One of the other board members term is up soon and I am in charge of getting her a gift and a card. I've worked with this women for four years and we don't see eye to eye on a lot of things and have butted heads a couple of times. We can work together if necessary and are cordial but we will never be good friends. Frankly she has caused a lot of discord in our organization and I am not the only one that is happy to see her leave.
I bought a blank card for everyone on the board to sign and I am trying to figure out what to write in the card. I don't want to be sappy and say something like we will miss her (we won't) or congratulations on a job well done (it wasn't, she create some big messes) or anything like that. So what would the Peas write? I was thinking something along the line of "thank you for your dedication and service to XXX organization, it is appreciated". Or to I just lie and say she did a great job and we will miss having her around. Any help would be appreciated.

About $10,000 for DD #1. I paid $4000, and my ex paid $4000 and the kids chipped in about $2000. Most of the $2K went to her dress. For DD #2, nothing. They eloped and didn't tell us until after it was done. They were in the Army and stationed in Virginia at the time. DD #2 always said she was going to elope, even when she was a kid. I more surprised about it because DD and SIL had only been dating a short time. But they love each other and he is a nice guy, treats her well and is a great dad. So I got over it quickly.

We have a small company, and yes, we still have a policies and procedures manual. It is updated about once every two years and part of my job responsibilities is to go over it with every new employee. I also volunteer for a not-for-profit and serve on the board. We also have one for our employees and are getting ready to review and update it at the next board meeting. So they are not completely obsolete.

Find a good alterations person. If you do find something you love but it doesn't quite fit right, have it tailored to you. And keep your shoes in great condition. I've seen more women ruin a great look because their shoes are scuffed and and the heels are torn up.

So I told DH we're having grilled cheese and tomato soup. Quick and easy and we can sit in front of the fire.

We did not clean the house this weekend. In fact we pretty much just sat in front of the fireplace and watched TV. It was fabulous and something we rarely do. Today I'm looking around before work, wondering what the heck was I thinking. I won't have time to clean during the week, we have too much going on. I'll try to spot clean some but it's my own darn fault for not getting off my butt and doing something. And I'm still going to whine about it.
