Update - first a big thank you to ScrapbookMyLife for helping me put into words what I was trying to say. MIL says it’s perfect. 👍 MIL and I went to the story yesterday. We took a thank you card and gift for him, a letter for his manager, and gave him a copy of the letters to manager and corporate. What a kind, compassionate, humble individual. He shared with us what happened, which other employees got involved, EMT… Nana’s friend had also sent him a card and he hasn’t been able to open it yet. We all got choked up as we spoke. We spoke with the manager, who affirmed, as my dad would say, “that’s just the kind of guy he is.” We are both glad we went. I hope he gets recognized in some way by his company.

Thank you! Both the play yard and the Cricut made it to my cart, and hopefully soon, my door!! Awesome! That play yard looks really cool.

This is going to be really random. It’s a Sink Soap Dispenser Extension Tube kit. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09NLKJTS8?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_titleThere’s a hole in our kitchen sink where we used to have a hose. We got a new faucet with the hose attached. So I got a soap pump. But it came with a tiny bottle to refill with soap. It’s annoying. I saw the extension tube kit on Instagram. It hooks from the soap pump to the bottle of dish detergent. So there’s no constant refilling and when the bottle of soap is empty, you just replace it with a new bottle of dishwashing liquid. i will have to get that! my problem isn't that i'm too lazy to fill the dispenser, it's that i over fill it. it overflows all over the sink and it have to syphon out even more in order to put the pump back in without backflow of detergent. this little gadget will be a game changer for me. thank you! Girl, same! And it took me way too long to think to use a funnel to fill it, so it was a huge mess not only on the sink but the outside of the bottle was so grody it looked like a stalagtite.

Wish I knew about that before!

They have cricut joy insert cards 45-50% off. It’s not showing as a prime day deal so you have to search with that toggle off.

If you go on YouTube and search prime day 2022, there are a bunch of people sharing their finds. The best ones will put descriptions and links for each item in the description box so you don’t need to watch the video, just quickly scroll the list and see if anything interests you. like this one youtu.be/HGqpsMWBdfw

I would say don't judge based on this year.. everyone has lost value. I would ask around friends, look for certifications, or go with a bigger firm.. edward jones or charles schwab, or fidelity. we are retired living off investments. we invested in stocks that we know.. and have done very well. you don't want to sell on the bottom.. just ride out the waves. we have some mutual funds and bonds. but we have really done extremely well with individual stocks. so the conventional wisdom may or may not work for you. Agree. Everyone I know is down quite a bit given the entire market has lost maybe 20% since January? So talk to friends if you want to look around but also know the best advisors going into 2022 could not have anticipated what’s happening now. I do think a solid advisor should have you in a mix that matches where you are in your retirement timeline, but even so it’s a bear market so that should minimize your losses. It’s hard to not stress out right now about the market - hang in there. This. I’ve worked with my guy for 25+ years. We used to work together. He calls every so often and lets me know what’s going on with my accounts and the market in general. Unless you need those funds soon, I know he would advise to hold them where they are and let it ride the wave. He tells me about the fluctuations in the market. Of course nobody could have predicted where we are today!

I had X mondo wavetech (styling foam for wavy hair) in my “save for later” cart. I wasn’t planning on getting it yet yet. I told myself I wasn’t allowed to buy it til I use what I already have. Price dropped from $27 to $21. I ordered it.

elaine thank you. My reaction took me by surprise bc I’ve been doing really well. I’m sorry for you and each of our pea friends who is struggling or has someone dealing with cancer. This movie hit an odd chord, I think you mentioned it in the op. Suffering and comedy running concurrently was an odd combination.

“ I also see pretty libraries online that look like converted houses, with wood shelves, and cozy chairs.. why can't I have one of those? “ You would love this. It’s an historic mansion on the outskirts of Philadelphia. It’s the Ryerss Museum and Library. This page has some info and pictures. I used to ride my bike here from time to time. The regular public library was closer but I liked to visit both. I never visited the museum, but the library smelled musty like old books. kristinerobinsonsinteriors.com/2014/10/18/burholme-the-historic-ryerss-museum-and-library/

We saw Thor today too. It gave me a punch in the gut too. And It felt very out of place with so much over the top comedy.

I’m so sorry for your loss. And why am I not surprised that you are thinking of others during your own time of sorrow. ❤️ That’s so sweet. Thank you. This meant a great deal to us. I shared upthread, we would have had no idea what happened if they didn’t come.

I am very sorry for your loss. I would write this: Dear Store Name, I would like to commend and thank Acme employee “John Jones”. On Wednesday, June 8, Our Grandmother Sharon M collapsed in the checkout line at your Acme location at XYZ. The customer behind her called out for help and called 9-1-1. Your staff member John immediately jumped in, and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Sadly our Grandmother passed away. It brings us comfort to know that our Nana was not alone, and that your staff member was doing all that he could to help during our Grandmothers medical emergency. Not only did John try to help our Grandmother when she collapsed, he attended her funeral service as well. John went above and beyond. We are so thankful and grateful for Johns help, compassion and kindness, during this this difficult time. With much gratitude, Jennifer M on behalf of the M family Yesss! This is what’s missing. I don’t know why I was having such a hard time putting that into words. Thank you so much.

Oh Jen, your Nana was so blessed to have two such kind people wrap her in care as she prepared to leave on her grand adventure. Your letter is perfect. I so needed to read this today, thank you for sharing. May your Nana’s memory be eternal. Her grand adventure! Yes indeed. {{{hugs}}} to you today.

Your heros may not want their names out there. That’s a very good thought. Thanks for that. Incidentally, it’s such a small world… I had posted on FB about what happened, not using names. I hadn’t met or even seen the store employee. But my niece’s friend, whom I don’t know, read my post and tagged her friend the grocery guy! So we were able to thank him there. So that’s like 4 degrees of separation.

That’s really touching that they came to the service. Do you have a local Facebook page you could post it to? Very sorry for your loss Ooh I don’t know. Thanks for the idea.

I think your letter is perfect! Have you thought about sending it to your local news paper? I'd be tempted to send it to them, just so they can have some 'good' news to report. I am sorry for your loss. That’s a good idea! I’ll think about it and maybe talk to the family.

(((((Hugs)))) on the loss of your Nana. It is, indeed, a blessing that there were people around her doing their best to care for her in the store. And they were thoughtful to also attend the services. Often "going above and beyond" is not recognized enough in a corporation. I am glad you are letting them know how important this was. That is a lovely letter. Yes. And the crazy thing is, we at first had no idea where she was. When the paramedics took her to the hospital, it was so busy or something that they never signed in. They had grabbed her purse so someone was able to make a phone call, but nobody knew where her car was! Apparently she had just put her receipt into her purse, so the family was able to piece that much together . If it wasn’t for that, those kind people attending would have been our only clue on where to locate her vehicle.

Our nana collapsed in line at the grocery store. ER doc said she had a massive heart attack. The customer behind her called for help, called 9-1-1 and stayed with her. A store employee performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Both followed up by finding her info and coming to her funeral service. We are so grateful to know she was cared for and not alone.
I already wrote thank you cards for both of them and am including a gift. I’m giving the man a $50 GC and I sent the woman a GC plus Willow tree “thank you” figurine. I’m trying to write a letter of commendation to the store on behalf of the employee. I plan to give it to the store manager and also send a copy to HR at corporate offices.
Can you please let me know if I need to add anything, or take anything away? Thank you. I’ve been mulling this over and too much time has already passed. Also how would you address the letters?
if anyone remembers, Nana picked my Logan up after school consistently for 4 years after Fred passed. She took him on all kinds of outings and offered him a safe space to talk. She was a retired pediatric nurse and had a lot of love to give to a lot of people.

Good update! Is mom ok with you not coming since you arranged travel plans in her favor? She is fine with it, I think, although she has framed it as "well they didn't come to your wedding or your dad's funeral so it's what they deserve" which is more of a retaliatory thought process than I went through, but, whatever works I guess. Oh my. At least it works in your favor. I hope your mom finds peace.
