My grandparents were all born in Armenia so not an American sounding name among them.
Levon and Meline (Meh-lee-neh) Garabed and Kayane
My step grandparents were Fred and Edith but we all called them Fred and Ethel.

“I don’t feel like a knock on the door equals trespassing.”
Agreed. And their dog should not have gotten out.
What we don’t know is if the dog was chasing in a friendly or attacking way. The kid may have assumed the dog wanted to attack. If it was my dog, she would be chomping at the bit to make a new friend. And make a general nuisance out of herself in the process.
***Which is why*** I put my dog in the kennel before letting people in the house, unless I know they are comfortable with my dog. If they will be here awhile, I will let her out after they are situated. She comes to say hi and then mostly minds her own business.
ETA if it’s someone I don’t know and expect (ie not a delivery driver) I will leave her out but make sure the screen door is secure so she can’t get out. I’ll open the storm door (don’t know what to call either door) a crack and ascertain the situation. I don’t mind strangers hearing/seeing my dog be a dog. If I let them in the house I’ll put her in the kennel first.

I leave cabinets open. I don’t realize I’m doing it but ds23 points it out. One day just to mess with him, I opened every cabinet just a smidge.

When I'm a passenger in a moving car, I will move my toes in time to the passing of painted lines that divide lanes on the street/highway; as if I'm jumping from line to line on the tips of my toes while the car moves. Dang it now my toes are itching to do this!

I googled. Everything I see is some kind of small container. Was yours built in? Yes, it's built in. match safe This is our actual match safe. It pulls out of the wall to empty the matches that have been used, and fill the unused matches. I love it. I feel like I’ve seen one before! So cool. I showed ds23 who told me about the razor blade disposal. He said “ohhhh a match safe!” He was equally impressed.

Interesting story: author Mary Kay Andrews was renovating a cottage on Tybee Island in Georgia and they found an old wallet in the bathroom wall under razor hole. She was able to contact the family and return it. Became a local news story. And she also used it as a story line in her latest book. But no one knew how a wallet fit in that tiny hole. Haha, that's the book I read! What’s the name of the book? And would you recommend it?

Wow, I've never heard of that before, that's wild! I don't know what surprises me more - the story, or the fact that pretty much all of you knew about it! LOL right! It was news to me, too!

Crazytown. I live in a 1938 Los Angeles bungalow, and we don't have a razor disposal system, but we do have a match safe. We remodeled our kitchen some years ago and my non-negotiable was keeping our match safe. I googled. Everything I see is some kind of small container. Was yours built in?

Coincidentally, today was the day my financial advisor called his clients. So I had a chance to talk to him about all this. He definitely agrees, don’t move your $ if you don’t have to. You still own the shares (mine are in mutual funds) so when the market corrects it will work out.
I wasn’t happy with my latest statements, but bc of what he has told me over the years I just rolled my eyes. After my conversation with him, I looked over my statements. I haven’t actually lost anything. Well there is an approximate net zero instead of gains and losses. It’s went up quick and came down gradually and I’m pretty much where I was at this point in 2019.
So if you had your $ in the same length of time, you would see the same. BUT what this means for you is that you’re buying low so you should see a nice return on your investment when the market corrects.

While I agree with you in spirit … I think some people are replacing plastic because they don’t want their food stored/reheated in it, not because they’re trying to save the planet. While I liked the OP, I agree with this. I got the vibe that she was talking about people who swap things out thinking they are helping the environment.

Can I throw one away when we've officially lost the lid for it? Well you could ...but you should probably go to Pinterest and find some really crafty project that centers around using that one container and about $50 worth of stuff from Michaels you will need to complete the project. 😂😂😂

I just saw a comment on a vegan YouTube video of someone who decided to go vegan for the planet , cleaned their fridge and pantry and then threw all the meat products away. They didn’t donate to family because they didn’t want to support their family eating meat. Please tell me they didn’t get a round of applause.

I am just now seeing this. I am so sorry for your loss. And I am thankful that there are people in the world like this store worker who jumped in and did all he could to try his best to save Nana. And to attend her funeral shows that he is such a caring person and that Nana had an effect on him, even at the end. I too am not surprised that even in your grief you are thinking of others, just like you did with the nurses when your husband passed. I am so honored to know you, Jenjie. You restore my faith in people. There has been so much negativity in the news lately that it just depresses me. But knowing people like you are out there fills my heart with joy. So sweet. Thank you. How could I not?

So so sorry for your loss. It’s amazing that “Mrs. Kit” came to your Nana’s side through these special people. They provided comfort for her soul through her last minutes and even brought you comfort by telling you about their time with her. Nana had her very own Mrs. & Mr. Kit. You are so right! And Nana was that kind of person. And I really loved that book. (Brand new book, first time author, friend of a pea. 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/132063/friend-wrote-book)

jenjie, is it my imagination or do you also have a history teaching child? Not me! I was a teacher assistant for a short time and dd is doing that. My son taught last year but is taking this year off. he joyfully spent a good chunk of his paycheck for his class. Or just for his enjoyment. 😂
