I'd be surprised if she returned after the last brouhaha. She's doing okay. She has a new job. Too soon to say if it will be a good fit. She made it through the holiday surprisingly well for being away from family and being a fairly new widow. We keep in touch. My stupid dementia is preventing me from getting the name of the lovely pea who met her in person... one of the sweetest... dang it... names are the first thing to go I'm afraid... wait, was it jenjie? That was me. I havenāt talked with her in awhile, my takeaway from her Fb is the same as what you just shared.

scraphappy0501 Thank you so much for thinking of me! stormycat let me know you were asking about me but I was too exhausted to respond at the time. I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday! Honestly I had taken a step back from 2peas. I am still not at 100% from when I had Covid and chronic fatigue, so Iām not as sharp with focus and memory and my stamina and energy are reduced. So Iāve needed to focus all that toward IRL. In my time awayā¦ oh boy things have been happening! One of the peas recommended GriefShare to me after Fred passed. It was so helpful! I immediately wanted to bring it to my church, but I wasnāt ready. Seven years later, I facilitated my first group. I actually took over for someone else who needed to step down. It has been so rewarding. Y next round begins in a few weeks. I also facilitated a stand-alone holiday support event. Three separate times. I had reached out to the funeral home to ask them about supporting their clients by providing my info, brochure, you know. They said, āYes, andā¦ā they invited me to partner with them! I spoke at a special night of remembrance they offered. It was a very special evening and I was so honored to take part. I shared some things they might expect to experience over the holidays, some tips to get through, and the hope that Jesus gave me. It was very well received and they asked me to pencil them in next year. They also want me to work with them on another project. In November I was invited to speak at a womenās event hosted by a local church, I shared about how God was with us throughout Fredās illness and where heās brought us since. Itās funny the first speaking engagement I had 6 months to prepare, they asked me way in advance. I tweaked and practiced and made changes up to the last minute. The funeral home invited me to come but neglected to say Iād be expected to speak. I only found out when I called the week before to confirm. And this was during our college trip! But with Godās help we pulled it off and people found it helpful. Iām between all this I visited my bff who moved to FL, it was a much needed time of girlfriend time and R&R. I came home for 2 days and took Logan to upstate NY for a college visit!!! Yes heās a senior this year! Christmas was beautiful, I was exhausted and Iāve basically been recovering from all the busyness. Thanks so much for thinking of me! Happy New Year to all!

My sympathies to our British peas and those within the monarchy. And to her family and nation of course. I canāt imagine what it must feel like for you, having the same National leadership for a lifetime and losing it.

I found a T shirt I like and bought several for when this falls apart in the laundry or I stain it. The sleeve has just a little flutter. I got a few in black and one extra in a rust color.
What I didnāt anticipate was losing enough weight that the shirt looks too big on me.

Iām super impressed you were able to find a car at that price! The ten year old minivan I bought Logan (plus service plan) cost pretty much the same as DDās brand new Honda HRV. Which is why she bought a new car instead of used.
We always get full coverage insurance. About the rental car cost, when dd totaled her old car she was given a budget of $50 per day for rental. Anything over that would be out of pocket.

They sell plain Doritos where you live? Iāve never seen those. Unfortunately no. Those were back in the 80ās. I remember sour cream and onion Doritos from my childhood. I loved them. They brought them out again a few years ago. I was so excited. Until I tried them. I was disappointed.

I donāt know about heirlooms but I have dhās grandparentsā grandmother clock. The story goes his grandmother always wanted one. The day it was delivered she sat in her easy chair, enjoyed it, took a nap and never woke up. I find it a bit creepy but when the story was told to me it was told as a fond memory. It doesnāt work but it looks nice in the corner of my living room.

For people saying they eat a meal at the church, how does that work? For every funeral Iāve been to, you go to the service in the church or funeral home, then you leave in a procession to the burial site (thereās a smaller crowd at the burial site than at the service), then you leave the burial site to go to a meal (and again thereās a smaller crowd at the meal than at the site). So, is leaving to go to a burial site not part of your experience? Or do you to church - burial - then back to the church? Thatās exactly what happens at my church. Church - burial - church. At our church the lunch is catered, which means a restaurant or service is paid to cook the food and bring it to the church. We have a team that sets up tables and chairs in the gym. They set up the buffet line, get the warning trays ready to go, make lemonade and iced tea, etc. If they know the family they may pop into the service. They will serve at the luncheon and clean up afterward. Thereās always a sheet cake for dessert in whatever the personās favorite color was.

Iāve never seen where people just show up somewhere. Any funeral Iāve been to, a meal has been provided. Our church has lunch catered for church families and covers the cost. Church members will set up and serve. Thatās what I usually always see.
When our nana passed recently, her church people put a lunch together with members making food and serving. Thatās the way it was at the church I grew up at, too.
Itās very kind that youāre doing this. Iām sorry for your loss.

I have a number of Life is Good baseball caps, all with cute sayings/logo decorations. Of course I know whatās on my cap!! However, I once found an adorable cap with the Life is Good dog holding a stick with a marshmallow on the end. I thought he was making a sāmore! I love that hat and wore it for years. It took way longer than it should have to figure out why people were constantly asking me if I played golfā¦..the āstick with the marshmallowā is actually a golf club. Ha ha ha. Gosh did I feel stupid that day. No I donāt golf, but I still wear my hat! Now I just have a funny story to go with it. I love this š¤£

Oh my gosh! What dedication!! (Side note---when you said he picked Tollhouse cookies because it's a tried & true recipe, my first thought was my grandmother, who hated making Tollhouse cookies because they always turned out as "Flathouse" cookies instead. I must have inherited that cookie baking issue, because chocolate chip cookies love to come out flat as pancakes for me as well. ) Yes! When my sil came by to get some cookies she said the same thing, they always come out flat. I canāt remember if mine still do, but they def have in the past. These cookies are dang near perfect.

That's actually a delicious looking sandwich! So glad you were able to warm that boy's heart with your comments. He really did do a great job. By the way, did you ever get a cookie? LOL funny you should ask, bc my ds23 baked 1,000 cookies 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/132835/cookie-challenge-pic-added-op?page=2#post-3749725When I shared the story about the sandwich on Fb, his former principal commented, āI know a guy who has 1,000 cookies!ā Cracked me up. But yes we did get some cookies at that meal and shared them amongst ourselves. š

Freaking AMAZING!! How has he distributed all of them? Does he have any left? Heās still figuring that part out! I think he wanted to be like the cookie fairy and share cookies with everyone he knows. People on fb are saying he should donate to charity... or give them a bunch for their own event. Thereās enough for him to spread a lot of love around. So far he took a tray to work and a few family members stopped over to get some. He will prob take some to church tomorrow, heās working with the kids. After that Iām not sure. I met these sweet ladies, a matriarch and her two adult daughters, on vacation. (He baked while we were away.) They were so invested in his story, every day they asked for updates. So Iām hoping he will let me send some to them, I think that would be a nice surprise. But he doesnāt understand that sending cookies in the mail is a thing. They are his cookies so I donāt want to press him to do anything, you know?
