Thank you! I appreciate the info and the link! That sounds much easier than what I have been doing.

We get the dog beds that are mashing washable. You just throw the whole thing in the wash. There is no cover. I believe we get them at stores like home goods/tj max. I haven't seen the ones that you can throw it all in, I will look for those!

Gave up on dog beds. I have a large and medium sized dog and ended up getting then solid foam crib mattresses. They are covered with crib mattress pads and soft fitted crib sheets, plus their blankets. Just strip the Mattresses once a week and throw it all in the washer. So easy and the dogs smell nice and fresh, like clean laundry too. The mattresses last for years. I just started looking online for crib mattresses and saw one for $41 at Target! I could look for a vinyl zipper mattress cover, then a mattress pad and crib sheets. Thanks so much! This may be the trick to get my new rescue dog to sleep on his mattress instead of the bed on top of me! And it's the same price as a pet bed.

Do you leave the mattresses out or put them in a closet and bring them out for bedtime?

Don't put the covers in the dryer and just let them air dry. They may be shrinking. Another option is to make a fitted sheet that just pops on over the bed. Easy to take off, wash and put back on. I always air dry them, and wash them on delicate with cold water, so they shouldn't shrink. Not sure if they are just cheap and don't hold up to being washed, even though I follow the instructions. At the same time, I am afraid to spend a lot of money in case I have the same issue.

My kids are older (19. 23 and 25) so we haven't done Easter baskets in years. That stinks about the selection and the prices! I can't imagine if I had little kids and they wanted to dye eggs, as they are still $4-$5 a dozen where we live.
Could you do $5 gift cards to places they like instead of candy if you can't find a good selection anywhere?

We buy dog beds every 6 months because even though they say washable, we can never get the covers to fit back on.
But we are trying to stick to a budget, so want to find dog beds that you can wash the covers but the covers fit back on. I always wash according to instructions, but can never get them to fit back onto the foam bed. I admit I buy cheap beds ($30-$50) maybe that's the problem?
Does anyone have a recommendation?

I realized you can get almost anything on amazon. So if you haven't used it in a long time, donate it. You can probably find it if you ever need to buy it at some point.

I'm so sorry, that is so hard to see your dog so anxious. We used trazadone from vet and NaturVet Hemp Quiet Moments (Petco) for our dog who had anxiety from degenerative mylopathy. It was hard for her as she couldn't move her back legs and in the evenings she would whine. The trazadone and quiet moments helped.

There is a lady I follow on Tik Toc that has her dog Bunny trained to use talking buttons. I am so amazed at all the words she knows. My mom uses a bell for her dogs to ask to go outside. She doesn't use doggie doors because they live in the desert and get snakes in their yard all the time. Is she on you tube or instagram? I don't have tik tok, bit my kids do. So if only on tik tok, how do they look her up?

I’d consider LVP and do some washable rugs. I have two huskies and two cats. The dogs and all their hair makes carpet a big no. I don't know much about lvp at all. So if the pet has accidents on it, does it clean up well? Is it more or less expensive than the average carpet? My husband freaks out if our dog has an accident on our hardwood (just in our small foyer). So is lvp just as bad? I may have to do some research as we have to recarpet our entire house!

We have Smart Strand carpet, made from some kind of renewable material that I don't recall, but it cleans very well with just water/steam. It's older, so I'm sure they have something even newer and better out there. What I definitely recommend is pet padding under the carpet. It has a layer of plastic on top so spills/messes don't penetrate into the pad. I never heard of pet padding but will ask about that when we get new carpets! I rented a carpet cleaner in 2015 and it did a great job. Rented it again the next year and something happened that any time our carpet gets cleaned a rust spot appears. We have no idea why but we think it's related to the padding. So we will looking into getting eberything we can out of this new carpet and padding.

It’s not a crating problem, it’s a separation problem and it sounds like you are starting with too long of periods of time. You need to work up to longer crated times - he needs to develop confidence that you’re always going to come back. Starting with just a few minutes in the crate with you out of sight and then come back and let him out and calmly give him attention (and take him outside). His young life has already been disrupted and he’s probably extra prone to separation anxiety - he needs extra help and patience on this front. Poor buddy is stressed and scared. I agree. It's separation anxiety not a crating issue. It will get better but it's going to take time. As far as the pooping in the crate -- is he being taken outside before he goes in the crate? He needs to be. The way we did it was potty time/running in the backyard for a bit to wear him down then into the crate. We left the tv or radio on so it wasn't completely quiet when he was by himself. How old is your dog and is he still in the crate when you are not home? We had very easy dogs with our first two, so we are so new to any crating and training. We have a lot to learn!

We adoped a dog a little over a week ago and he is 3. Has lots of issues so we are getting a trainer to come to the house. He was brought in through cruelty investigations, so we think it was a free for all in his house. I hope once he feels comfortable and gets trained it will get better. You are not alone! We want to try a crate too as he is crazy in the car and I want to be able to leave the house!

I love daylight savings time and want it all year! But I never knew until 2peas that some don't like it. So I am fine with having both as we each get what we like part of the year.

I love daylight savings time! The longer hours of daylight (in the evening) improve my mood significantly and I am much more productive. I hate standard time, but with changing the time twice a year, we all get a bit of what we like. I don't have to get up super early, so it's light out when I get up. But I can understand those that have to be at work very early in the morning would enjoy the early daylight. I never knew anyone didn't like DST until I found 2 peas! Haha! Everyone I know in real life loves it. I also look forward to Daylight time as an indicator that Spring and Summer are on the way. I guess for people who live in warm weather states, maybe it doesnt matter as much, but it does here! Yes! Me too!

I don't think it's related to your age, as I hear women of all ages called ma'am. Doesn't bother me at all. Sometimes someone may forget a bag at the grocery checkout and the cashier needs some way to get the attention of the shopper. So they usually say "sir" or "ma'am". It doesn't bother my husband to be called "sir" either.

Nope. And I am not an “I’m scared” kind of person. I am always a “take the trip anyway” kind of person. But going to Mexico right now just seems flat out stupid. That's how I feel too.

I am still reading On a Quiet Street and it's okay. I am kind of bored, but it has great reviews! I have been really busy this past week with two trips, so that could be why I am not as excited about it. I listened to The Great Alone on my trips and finished it today. It was so good! I am also listening to The Girl in Apt. 6E - A R Torre and it's different but okay. Can't wait to start All the Dangerous Things and The Housemaid's Secret!

I think teens should pay their own way. I think it’s such an old fashioned notion that comes from days when women/girls didn’t have their own income. Why should boys use their own money all the time? First time maybe but otherwise either alternate who pays or split the cost. There are still many that feel that if they pay they are entitled to “something” so I always told my daughter to insist on paying for her own meal etc. That never occurred to me but good point. If they pay their own way, it takes away either party feeling they are entitled because they pay (girl or boy).
We always gave our girls money too because it's not fair that the boy should have to use his money just because of his gender. We treat it as we would a group of girls/boys going out with their friends. They each pay for themselves (or venmo their friend the money and have one person pay).

DS is 20. He went on a Tinder date recently. My understanding was she reached out to him. I asked in this situation, who paid. He said he did. That’s just how he was raised. He likes to be a gentleman and do things for the girl. Doesn’t mean he feels she can’t do for herself. So sweet, I teach my girls to do that too.
They love to get little gifts, and treats for their boyfriend, even though they know they don't have to. It's just fun for them to make their date feel special! Plan fun nights out, get them tickets to their favorite sports teams, etc. My daughters are very generous and are very creative gift givers and planning special dates!
