Silk pillowcase and silk scrunchies - they're best for her hair.
Pay for a housecleaning service to come a few times to do the bathrooms, change the beds. I would've loved for someone to do that for me.

The dogs and I dropped it off to the correct house when we took our walk. I do the same thing. There are people in my neighborhood though who will post in our FB group that they have a package for someone who is literally next door or across the street to them, and say "It's on my front porch!"

I saw a video where someone made a candle out of melted butter, they added rosemary and other herbs, cut a hole in the center of a round loaf of bread, and put the candle in the center. I thought it looked interesting.

I chose one of the books pjaye read last week, The Midwife by Tricia Cresswell.
SO good! Very atmospheric, and keeps you guessing throughout. I loved it. 4.5 stars

I notice it mostly at the grocery store with items I consistently buy. If the price hasn't gone up, then the amount of product has decreased in the package.

I have no one to blame but myself. I assume people would offer to reimburse for such a task - as I would. Yes it’s too late but I am not a business person so I like the answer no, I only craft for myself. Oh I feel for you! I used to get the same requests from people who wanted me to knit things for them. They'd want me to knit them a scarf or wrap like one I was wearing, and when I told them just the yarn was $100+ they'd change their minds. I had one coworker who, two weeks before Christmas, asked me to knit hats for her 4 foster kids! I told her sorry, but I was trying to finish up my own Christmas gifts. I hope she realizes the tumblers took so long for you to make and you didn't whip them out in half an hour. Maybe you should find a way to mention that when she's around.

I just wanted to let you know I'm sorry this happened, and I'm so glad you and your husband weren't killed or more seriously injured!

My house will be paid off in 12 1/2 years (if not sooner) so that'll put me at 67. I'm almost envious of all the posts above that are "My DH and I..." - it's a bit harder when it's only one of you.

At the time I would've been devastated. Not so much now. If she were my daughter I would do a senior ad - I would want her included.

The Midwife by Tricia CresswellSet in the England in the 1830s and told in two timelines. In the first, a woman is found naked and near death by a poor farmer, he takes her home and he and his 'wife' care for her. When the wife is ready to give birth, the woman (who has no memory of who she is) instinctively knows what to do and soon she becomes a midwife helping other locals and makes a new life for herself. In London, a Dr Borthwick works with his midwife delivering the babies of wealthy women, but makes himself an outcast with the other doctors as he uses different (and more successful) methods when delivering their babies. Then one day at a conference he meets someone from his past that could expose his secrets. I really enjoyed this, an engrossing & unpredictable story. 4.5 stars but rounded down to 4 on GR Thank you for sharing this book. I started it yesterday and I am SO enjoying it!

To be able to kill so many from so far away… it just shouldn’t be possible for anyone outside our military and I’m furious that it is. THIS! Our 2nd Amendment Rights weren't written with assault weapons in mind. Someone's right to own a weapon capable of killing hundreds doesn't trump my right to LIVE. If there ever comes a time when foreign forces are on US soil, we have a trained military to protect us. But that is never going to happen. We've seen how terrorists attack us and it's not one-on-one combat. We know where the problem is and it's our own citizens with assault rifles, preying on innocent people and children. I know mental health plays into it, but the damn access to these type of weapons shouldn't be allowed at all. Period.

I gave up all hope after Sandy Hook... It's never going to stop.
Last night I watched a documentary on Paramount+ about the mass shooting in Las Vegas at the country music festival. I don't see how anyone could watch that and still say assault weapons should be legal.

I just got this from my attorney! You all were correct! "We're asking for his compliance to pay maintenance. The other Motion is the Motion to Deposit. Basically, we'd ask him to put the cash from his bank accounts into the court's registry so he can't deplete it. It means the money will be protected through the case and only accessible via court order. This way he can't spend everything on his own travel and luxuries while you suffer financially." Holy shit. This with the info you have about his last trip for the half-marathon will not look good...

I listened to The Last Lifeboat by Hazel Gaynor after seeing it on Lisa's Goodreads last week. I enjoyed learning more about the European children who were sent to other countries for protection during WWII. I've read a couple of other books on the same subject. I really liked the characters and the relationships in this one. 4 stars.
Now I reading The Wishing Game.

Please give yourself some grace. There are things we all missed, but years later look back and wonder why we didn't see the full picture. But looking back we have more information that makes it easier to see. All you can do is tell your son you love him, you're sorry for what he went through, and you're there to help him heal. And let the guilt go.

My mom makes the best icebox fruitcake. It doesn't have any kind of icing on it.
We haven't been able to find dried fruit this year. She's looked in the grocery stores where she lives two hours away and I've looked at the stores here in my town.

Tik Tok will take your video down for the word "suicide" typically. They are probably the biggest platform right now. Typically people won't use the word gun/guns either. I think murder is another one, I see murd3r or unalived for that as well. And SA for sexual assault.
It can get very annoying. The one that irritates me the most is when people insert "allegedly, for educational purposes only" every few sentences.

Our 14yo Maltese developed Cushings and we had just started treating that, and then the vet discovered a tumor on her liver. The meds were making her sick and giving her upset stomach. We were trying to make her comfortable and had stopped the meds after the dr found the tumor. I ran home one day to check on her and found her lying in diarrhea in the middle of the living room - she hadn't been able to move herself away. I knew then that we had to let her go. We were making her suffer just so we could keep her with us.

I can't watch Kevin Spacey anymore, which is a shame because he played some great roles. He turns my stomach now. I avoid Amy Schumer. I don't like watching Mark Ruffalo, but I will. Something about the way he speaks is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

My prescriptions are in the buffet in my dining room. I used to keep them in my nightstand. OTC are mostly in a cabinet in my bathroom. I have bottles of Excedrine all over - in the kitchen, the bathroom, in my car, my desk at work... I got tired of a bottle not being nearby when a migraine hit. Excedrine along with my Rx med usually does the trick for them.

More and more my specialists having been doing this. Not so much a nurse, but definitely a PA, and then the dr coming in and going over everything again. Infrequently I'll just see the PA. I don't mind so much with my Oncologist, I really like her PA and I'm just there for checkups; with my other doctors it seems they never have the same PA which can be annoying.
I went to a dermatologist whose PA made me very upset. I was making an appointment because I had a rash on my legs and I thought while I was there I should probably get a skin cancer check *I told the scheduler this when I made the appointment so they would know how much time to allow. * When the PA came into the room she told me the could only address one of the issues, not both, and I had to tell her which one I wanted. I was so mad! I decided I should get the skin check because if I had skin cancer somewhere I needed to know. When the dr came in for the exam she asked me about the rash, told me what it was, and an over the counter med to use for it! The Gatekeeper PA didn't look very happy.

I used vitamin E oil after my lumpectomy and I barely have a scar. I don't know whether to credit the vitamin E or my surgeon. If it was only a lumpectomy I wouldn’t be as concerned but with a reduction and lift both of the ladies are getting some significant stitches. I think most of us are concerned with how we look no matter our surgeries. It's terrifying to be told you have breast cancer and on top of everything else, not knowing what you'll look like afterward. Good luck with your procedures.
