I tried a self-healing mat with my Gemini. After the first pass, the mat warped so badly I couldn't even get it through the machine again. I had to throw it away. That was $9.99 right down the drain. Big waste of money. If that's what this "Magic Mat" is, I'll save the money and avoid the disappointment. Hard pass. I got a really thin self healing matnandnthat happened to it too, but this thicker one i get from HL its good for 6 months or so and it's only $2.50. Which brand/size mat did you use?

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this recently but i have been waiting a while for some items to arrive. Today I received 5 orders, all from different shops, bundled into one AX bag instead of the usual separate packets trickling in. Just thought I would let others know about the change in how they might be shipping small parcels and that it might be slowing delivery down.

I got a ream of Neenah 110 pound weight cardstock for $1.00 today! The package was opened and it did have some marks around the edges, but it wasn't bent and the front of each paper is fine. I can always ink edges if I use them for cards. There was a three pack of liquid glue for $5.00. I wish I could remember the name right now, but I know it's used in crafts. I wasn't sure if it was worth a purchase or not. A $1 for Neenah is a great deal even if only a partial ream!

I would like a set of office type stamp sayings like return to sender, copy, paid. I think 7 gypsies made on but I haven’t been able to locate a set. I know a few can be found in some of the Tim Holtz sets but I want a set all in one place.

Oh my gosh, thank you for asking this! I asked something similar in a post and I didn't quite get the information I was needing. I am relatively new to stamping but I have been creating a lot so I've been using all kinds of techniques. Are pigment inks different enough from Oxides (since they have a hybrid pigment quality), to warrant bothering with or will I be fine with my Oxides for most pigment ink needs? I have MFT white pigment ink, a hybrid ink pad for alcohol pens, and plenty of the Oxides, but I really don't know if I will get much use out of the pigments and they are fairly expensive not to use. I've watched Jennifer McGuire's video on the differences, and some others so I know what they do, I just don't know how much more useful they would be from my Oxides. I believe she said in a video I watched a while ago that she doesn't even have pigments inks anymore... maybe I misheard it though. I use my oxides most of the time.

I'm a stamping newbie, and I've been looking at YouTube videos and researching what the best inks are for various uses. At this time I'm mostly interested in black ink for sentiments on cardstock and vellum; and black, white and gray inks for outlines to color in with copic markers. I'm interested in knowing why you all are discussing throwing out pigment inks? I thought they would be a good thing for specific uses. It's really so confusing watching all the different videos with some contradicting others on favorite inks. If anyone knows of a really great resource for learning what the best inks are, please share. I want to make informed choices. Thanks! I find the newer inks perform better, some are embossable or copic/watercolor friendly too. If starting over I would only buy pigment inks in black, white, christmas red/green. I’ve had mine 15+ years. They just sit in the drawer, but the colors are unusual so I hesitate to toss them. All my cat eye ones the pads fell apart.

Found a SU set of a japanese garden theme, and three angel wood stamps for $1 each. Bought 5 vintage stampers that might have been used at a store. They are in a fancy style (&, per, each, for and Bessie). I can’t post a photo of them.

Black is the only one I use regularly, though I do have quite a few of the old Amuse pigment inks. Not ready to get rid of them yet though! I like the VersaClair ink for black, it stays wet long enough to emboss but nice clear image. I'm still looking for that ultimate white ink pad.

I’m purging inks and have a drawer full of old pigment inks that I haven’t used in years. So when is the last time you used pigment ink and what where you making?

Seems the only stamps I find at the thrift/GW or flea market are CTMH country cute. Came across a table full of stamps, ALL CTMH. Bummer.
i did find a large rolodex filled with blank cards for $2. I already have a Memorydex for collage and make altered playing cards but think this size will mix it up and challenge me. Also found a deep IKEA drawer insert with dividers but turned out to be slightly to small for my jumbo glue sticks and scissors. It was only $1.

Finish organizing collage supplies, sell what I purged. Make Halloween cards. Make blank note cards for Christmas present. Start organizing the second half of my massive stamp collection. Continue my SB supply freeze.

I’ve been on a sorting and purging binge this year. Spent the weekend thinning out and transferring my Dylusions paints to bottles. Tossed out some rock hard TH texture pastes and crackle medium. Trying to rehydrate (again) my Nuvo mousse pots but I’m not sure its worth the bother. The upside is I have gained more drawer space!
I have been obsessed with making vintage collages, altered playing cards, my glue book and my Memorydex this year so no scrapping. I have been organizing and purging those supplies too. .They are stored in the spare room and easily accessible, unlike my scrapping supplies that share the room with DH who works from home.
I just realized that if I combined my scrapping area, my stamping area and my collage area I could take over the entire basement! Think I better purge more and shop way less!

I was surprised Creative Memories used poor, outdated examples in their segment.
I like Amy’s shelves too. I have a similar set up using bookshelves and old stackable cubes from my kids rooms. Mine are deeper and very sturdy so the can hold a lot of paper. I always go vertical to maximize storage.

Beautiful day at the flea market, lots of sellers finally. Replaced my junky deckle edge scissors I accidentally threw out with my scraps with a pair by Stampin Up. They were only $1! Found books, old paper and several old school tablets filled with nice cursive writing for a reasonable price. Splurged on very old copy of Godeys Ladies Book 1830 for $6..

Flea market day. Bought 14 packages and 6 8 page books of vintage image stickers for my collages for $10. Probably could have talked seller down but she was such a sweet lady I didn’t bother. saw some beautiful large rubber stamps at an antique shop the day before but not for $15 each! Also bought lots of paper and books for my collages. I think I need to join Flea Markets Anonymous cuz I have a real addiction for sure, or start selling some of my stash! as I was reading this, I was thinking, "ooh, I wonder what Flea Markets Anonymous is? is it a website that tells you where you can find flea market listings, to see where / when they are?? then I kept reading... I guess I need to join Flea Markets Anonymous too, then, huh? lol!! I miss *good* flea markets-- the Midwest ones with all sorts of antique and vintage dealers. The 'swap meets' here in the Phx area are more of the 'blu-blocker sunglasses and sweat socks' type of selling. I spent some time in a Goodwill a week or two ago; they were selling some 25-pks of Stampin' Up and CTMH cardstock, but nothing I wanted. And some old, old, old magnetic-style page photo albums. ick. But like someone else said, the stuff I usually see is the more 'cutesy' circa 2002 stuff. blech! I haven't found any good estate sale listings for a while- the height of summer is just not a good time for them, here. “Hi, my name is Pat and I’m a Flea Market Addict...” lol Our flea markets are a good mix of old and new merchandise. It’s rare to find estate sales or rummage sales. This week I pulled out a large pile of old books and magazines to sell. Wish me luck that I at least break even or it’s no more flea markets for me for a while!

I had about given up on ever finding something paper craft related at Goodwill other than very old paper and stamps. Today I bought a Rubbermaid Embellishment Binder. i had never heard of it before, it looks like the expensive Crops in Style PSB. It was only $7 new in packaging! It’s not as sturdy as the PSB but it will work just as well.

Bought a set of SU Brush Strokes (oriental landscapes) because I liked the goldfish stamp at the thrift shop. It only cost $3. That is cheaper than the flea markets sell them for.

I've been really loving Versafine Clair ink recently. It's a true black and super crisp (not compatible with alcohol markers, though). Love Clair for stamps with lots of detail and it can be embossed because it dries a bit slower. Otherwise it’s Versafine Black Onyx or Archival.

Does anyone know of a stamp set that looks like the old rubber stampers used in offices like PAID, RECEIVED, RETURN TO SENDER, etc?

Usually the stamps I find are the cutesy older ones, or expensive SU boxed sets. Did see a big box of the old office stampers that I would have loved but I didn’t want the whole thing for $50. i would love to find a cancelled/paid/return to sender old style rubber stamper for a reasonable price.

I finally found scrapping/crafting supplies at the flea market today! NIB Cutterbee scissors $3, a large wood rubber stamp of an old world map $1 and two packs of large floral printed napkins for $1.50 each. And of course lots of stuff for collages and junk journals.

Thought of another flea market tip - time of day matters. If you hunt in a competitive category of goods, i.e. there are lots of people who buy the same kind of stuff you want, then first thing in the morning is your jam. For slower moving stock, end of the day may serve you well. Sellers are going to be more motivated to make that one or two extra sales just before packing up, and are often more open to making a deal just so they don't have to take their stuff back home again. This Is true but beware some flea markets that works but some I attend are to run until 1:00pm but often vendors leave by 10:00! I’m an early riser and like the cooler morning temps so I like to get there early.

Great breakdown, this church sale was Goodwill merchandise at double the prices. I find my best deals at the tables where I have to dig through boxes or dealers have an odd lot of paper amongst say glassware. I bought a ledger for $5 and pulled a big pile of miscellaneous receipts and such out of it! Vendors who specialize I find charge antique store prices and won’t haggle as much. My flea markets offer better prices on Saturdays than Sundays because attendance is lower so they want to sell.

What is your experience with church flea market sales? Just went to my first. They had tons of stuff but priced kind of high. Did buy some clear stamps the scrapping supplies were really old.
