Just because there are black students at the school does not mean that there isn't more racism in that area. Agreed. Given I quoted you, I was attempting to alleviate your concern of him "being the only biracial/black student at either school." Perhaps your response was intended for this comment instead: ... Is there a higher percentage of black students at LSU? If so, then that might help your worries about possible racism. ...

I like the colours, I love the old-fashioned Santa, love the variety of embellishments...but I'm not sure how well it would work for my photos and style/size of scrapbooking Unfortunately, this happens to me often. There are collections that I like for their color palettes/classic patterns/etc., but they are either duplicates/similar to existing inventory &/or not my style or applicable to my primary scrap subject. Ugh!

South, almost to the next county. I've lived in the Ballantyne/PCC/Longview area of Charlotte for 25+ years (excluding a year in corporate housing in W-S plus two years in GBO) & would not describe this area as "racist" given its diversity & my experiences (otherwise, I couldn't/wouldn't live here)!

Where in NC did you live? Charlotte. We were about 1.5 hours from Winston-Salem and went there often for soccer & baseball. Which area of Charlotte? ETA: ... I will comment on Winston Salem though. I lived in the Chapel Hill, Durham area for nearly 10 years. ... Winston Salem, is about a 35 minute drive from where I lived for those 10 years ... Note Winston-Salem is located about 80 miles (~1.5 hour drive) west of Chapel Hill/Durham.

Both universities are nationally recognized, so I recommend he chooses the one that seems the best fit & the ideal experience for him: WFU is a private university with ~9k students (60% white & 8% black / source). It is located in Winston-Salem, NC, which is also home to Winston-Salem State University, a historically black public university in the UNC system. As of 2022, the city's population of 250k is reportedly ~ 40% white (non-hispanic), 32% black, 6% Hispanic, etc. ( source). LSU is a large public university with ~38k students (~62% white & 17% black / source). It is located in Baton Rouge, LA, which is also home to Southern University & A&M College, a historically black public university. As of 2022, the city's population of 226k is reportedly ~ 52% black, 36% white (non-hispanic), etc. ( source). Best wishes to him! ETA: ... I am not necessarily concerned with him fitting in or being the only biracial/black student at either school ... [bold is mine] You didn't see any biracial/black athletes on rosters at WFU or LSU or noticed biracial/black students attending summer classes or working in the athletic or business departments during your recent visits? Both WFU & LSU have more black students (see above) than his current college, Butler University (80% white & 5% black / source)!

... Frankly, if you're worried about racism, he's not much better off in North Carolina. We lived there for 30 years. It might be more genteel, but it's still the South. Where in NC did you live?

I've used the original EZ Runner (Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L), usually the (red) permanent strips & (green) repositional dots, for almost two decades! HTH & you find your ideal adhesive.

Regarding the overall industry:
Positive: It still exists & continues to offer new product monthly!
Negative: It is formulaic/repetitive/predictable/"copycat," resulting in the same tired sentiments/icons/colors for the same themes on a loop (with few exceptions). I especially dislike the continued feminine, floral, & yellow (mustard to neon) domination.

They tagged me on Facebook this morning to say that the digital collection is up, if anyone is interested. Even though it is considerably more expensive than digital only stores, I’ll still be buying the papers and some of the embellishments. I will buy some more after my next payday. Thanks for the information. The OP has been updated with the link ( here). Happy scrapping!

Thanks for your responses. I don't gravitate toward American Crafts patterned paper collections, & this release is not an exception. Nothing is added to my wish list.

Thanks for your responses. While not the target audience for this brand, given its feminine, floral, & vintage aesthetic, I appreciate the versatile labels, bracket diecuts, etc. Nothing is added to my wish list.

It's really cute but before I invest a lot of money I would like to know more about the texture of the paper if anybody could please tell me. Is there a difference in the texture/thickness between the single and double sided? Is the paper shiny or slick? It's hard to explain. There is no texture. It's a smooth cardstock. There is a tiny bit of sheen to it, but only on the dark papers. They changed from their own printer to a local print shop last fall- so it's not a shiny as it used to be. My last order, the papers were really nice, they weren't super slick like they were last year. You can try and order just one sheet and try it out. Or maybe email them and see if they will send you a sample. I was wondering the same (& hope one of its frequent customers can answer)! Last year they released 3 collections, Sunkissed, Hey Summer, Comfort & Joy. This year they have already released 3: Good Vibration, Well Read, You are My Sunshine. I guess there might be at least 1 more - like Christmas. Thanks for the information. Are all papers (whether single- or double-sided or in a paper pad or by-the-sheet) smooth, non-textured, & matte (except for a slight sheen on dark papers)? Does the company always offer so many paper options in its releases (as with the You Are My Sunshine collection)? TIA.

I love the bright yellow star paper, I always struggle to find nice yellow papers and this one hits the spot! ... We're opposites. I detest the yellow star paper both for its color & asymmetrical stars & consider the phrase "nice yellow" an oxymoron!

Like AussieMeg, I suggest using your cut files - just like punches, metal dies, stamps, etc. - as often as you wish. After all, you bought/downloaded them to use! With different colors, elements, & sketches/layouts, especially in different albums, IMHO it's a non-issue. Happy scrapping!

... I particularly like the burgundy snowflake paper & the brown paper package paper. ... It appears those patterns are only available in the 12x12 paper pad. Is this (i.e. patterned papers in the 12x12 paper pad only & NOT also sold by-the-sheet) common in VB collections?

Yes! I prefer actual memorabilia to faux/purchased ephemera (that is inevitably too themed or the wrong shape/size/color/etc).

... I've not noticed 8x9 paper before - is it designed so you have an inch to punch holes and insert in an 8x8 album without a page protector? I also have never seen this size offered & was puzzled, given the non-speciality papers are 8x8. Since only the Clear Overlay Pack & Vellum Pack are 8x9, I suspect you're correct (i.e. 8x9 allows flexibility for the specialty papers to either be trimmed to 8x8 or used outside of a page protector)!
