14 or 15. No sure whether to count the Hollywood sign. I’ve seen it plenty. Especially while taking in a show at the Bowl, but also while driving around. But I’m not going to hike up to it or anything.

Worst: cleaning bars. The bathrooms. Nuff said. Best: Small candy store that made all our own candy from scratch.
I could be down with that for about a week. Then I’d have to quit because I think if I went home smelling like chocolate every day I would eventually get sick of the smell and that would just be wrong, LOL. After DH and I quit working at the pizza place, I think it took about a year before we could eat pizza and actually enjoy it again. Hahaha, my mom had little poodles and they would go nuts when I walked in because I reeked of chocolate! But it was better than when I worked at the Birds Eye broccoli processing plant the year before, coming home totally reeking of broccoli was nasty!

It was a union job for Birdsey putting broccoli in boxes to freeze it. The broccoli came down a long conveyer belt and you had to work very fast grabbing the spears and sticking them in the boxes that were racing fast around the belt with the goal of no broccoli or empty boxes at the end of the line. The managers would come around and stand behind and watch the new women, ( I was 16), and if you weren’t fast enough, you were fired.
I had to go to their nurse for anti nausea medicine because of all that movement going on in front of me, but I got used to it. Minimum wage was only 1.50, but this paid almost 3.00, plus there was often overtime. Unfortunately, it was only as long as the broccoli season lasted, then I was let go, and my next job, McDonald’s was minimum wage and short hours.

I know something about finding out the person you thought you could trust could instead destroy your life. And you did not see it.
it says everything about them, and the only thing it says about you is that you are a good, decent , trusting person.
Write down this new info, how you feel about it, (use all the words you need to, no one else will see this), and put the paper in an envelope or box. Anytime something concerning him is disturbing your peace, repeat this process. It does help, you can train your brain to leave it in the envelope.

I am so happy to hear of your daughter’s progress. I know how hard it is to see them struggle, and if you could take it from them upon yourself you would, but you can’t.
My own sweet girl is 40 now. Been through so much. I’m proud of how hard she’s fought, and I haven’t taken anything for granted. I wish your Chloe the very best.

Congratulations. This is bringing back my twin grandsons being born. Such an amazing time. They were 3 and 4 lbs at birth. DD and SIL lived with us, so I was part of the “team”caring for them, it was incredibly bonding. Those little babies turn 16 tomorrow.
I’m so happy for your family.

I’m 67, and I go to more concerts than I ever have. I just got back from a girls’ weekend where two friends and I flew from three different states to San Diego to see Sting and Billy Joel. Fabulous show, even though it rained. (I brought the clear ponchos). Billy is the man, we saw him at MSG in 2022 first show after the pandemic. This time he was even more amazing. And I was concerned about the sound at an outdoor stadium of that size, but it was excellent. Then we had fun exploring the city for three days.
Yes, nobody cares what an older woman like me is wearing, I go for comfort.
I have a full schedule of shows coming up all the way through this fall. Some small outdoor venues, a couple at bigger ones.
I do not have my own house, or a lot of the things I thought I’d have at this stage of my life, but I’m determined to enjoy the things I can, and live music with friends and family makes me happy.

I was so disappointed when he gave the chair back to keep the peace. Especially, if I remember correctly, because MIL didn’t even want it for herself, but to give to a brother in law who was making a fuss. As I not remembering right?

Another fan of that round chair. You chose such great fabric for it. I’d spend all my time reading in it. Enjoy your lovely bright home!!

Wow. Hopefully, the judge will see that the only one for sure not at fault is the property owner. The nerve of the developer saying, “ the house ‘happens’ to be on your property. So we have to resolve this”. Happens , my eye! Parking in someone else’s spot is a mistake. Choosing to cheap out, or more likely, forego a surveyor because you want that prime lot is a decision.

That’s one of our favorite shows! We’ve watched every season. It’s something how you have favorite contestants almost right away. I’m always in awe of the skills some of the people have. Some of them, not so much. I was so annoyed at the guy who quit when he stupidly lost his fire starter, even though he had a healthy fire going at the time. He could have at least tried to keep it going. I was annoyed at the woman in Patagonia who had EVERYTHING and then just left because she felt she had nothing else to prove. That woman had a SAUNA made out of rocks and bones and moss and whatever else. She constantly caught fish and probably could have lived out there forever. I was amazed at her. And the guy from season two who had a kitchen, a chess set, furniture, you name it and went home because he missed his girlfriend. I like those kind of things much better than just watching someone outstarve everyone else. Grizzly Island wasn't that fun to watch because there just wasn't anything to eat there. Yes and no. I was disappointed, because I thought she’d win, and I wanted that. And it WAS a competition. But I also admired her spirit. Her values. It’s those ver attitudes of not caring, of not doing it just for the money, that made those people able to thrive like that. That’s why I like this show above the other survival type shows. I like seeing ingenuity, resourcefulness, plant knowledge, and willingness to eat more than a fish or a small animal. I like seeing them fashion shelters and utensils for living, and things that help them pass the time and use the materials at their disposal. The worst times people had to go home were the guy who smoked his fish and instead of eating it, rationed it out so slowly he got to thin and they sent him home. He was otherwise doing so great at everything else. His shelter was amazing. The other one, Carrie (?) I think her name was, she was so good, but same thing, got too thin. I hated to see her go, and then the second, they made her leave, that meant the last guy won 😠.

I hope those of you looking forward to viewing the eclipse in totality have good viewing weather, especially those who have gone to efforts to make this happen. It’s a wonderful experience, especially if you have children with you, I know we camped on some property of friends of friends in 2017 with family from three different states, and it’s a very special memory.
Clouds, be gone!!

I’ve been playing for over two years. I got it in 2 guesses today, ( well, yesterday, Friday), but my average is 4. I share my score with 5 different group threads of family or friends, and have been playing with my 7 year old granddaughter the whole time I’ve played. We started playing Connections at least a year ago, and she got me started on Tiles, we love that one! My sister started us sharing the crossword mini, and now my granddaughter likes the spelling bee and letter boxed, too. She just got her own account and the app on her tablet, so instead of my partner she’s going to be another rival.
I can’t believe how fast they grow!!

We spent a week in Tamarindo, and it’s a lovely, relaxed beach town. We were doing it on the cheap, found a small, inexpensive hotel with a little patio that looked straight out on the beach. It was just what I wanted. Surrounded by all kinds of wildlife, howler monkeys crocodiles , colorful birds.

I went back after hearing all the fuss, and yes, there are numerous PS flaws and they are amateur hour. The image was good enough for me on a small screen with my aging eyes at night. But anytime I do photo editing I use my huge IMAC and zoom way in to make sure nothing is noticeable.
Could you imagine the care I would take for work on the Royal Family being released out into the whole world???

I notice the careful arrangement leaves her midsection completely in shadow. That keeps all the speculated maladies and surgeries still in the running. Whatever the problem was, it does appear that her health is improving, her color looks genuinely perky.

I’m surprised an academic wouldn’t know that you can live for quite a long time as long as you have water. In my teens in the 70’s, fasting was all the rage, and my friends and I would go for a week at a time. Not that being locked in a bathroom for 4-5 days would be a pleasant experience. So good for her for managing to get herself out. 7 hours was still plenty!!
Side note. What a cool fellowship to have, and to be boarded in that historic beautiful building.

I was friends with a woman in my mom and toddler group (so a good 25 years ago) in that situation where it certainly seemed it was a very calculated move on her husband's part. He got her and the kids moved for his dream job, then popped a surprise divorce, and she was stuck unable to move back to either her former city where she had college friends or her country of origin due to the terms of their custody agreement. He remarried pretty quickly and the new wife was able to be a stay at home parent to her own new baby as well as my friend's kids, while friend was pretty much forced to find work to keep afloat as a single parent. She was originally from another country, so that added another dimension to the isolation for her. It was a really sad and tough situation. My blood is boiling here at the unfairness for your friend😡. OP, I have known of similar cases. In both, the families lived close by, and it was only after moving the wife and kids away from both his and her family that they divorced them. I think they were too chicken to do it with their family and in laws nearby.

I used to make my own soy yogurt. It was super easy. I loved it so much. Then I figured out that the yogurt was a migraine trigger for me. I was so sad. I had been having it every day!

My Dad and Stepmom paid for LTC insurance for a very long time. This fall they actually needed to use it when my Dad broke his hip, and spent time in a rehab center and then a residential care facility. We are talking two months here.
My Stepmom spent whole days on the phone with the insurance company, relentlessly and persistently insisting that they honor their contract. They fought her for months, while she and I were taking turns keeping Dad company in the facilities and encouraging him.
If she had not had all her documents at the ready, a mind as sharp as a tack, and the willingness to fight like mad and not give up, that company would not have paid anything. As it was, they acted like they were doing her a favor to cover half of the cost of the two months costs.

I’m not embarrassed to say that I spend a lot of time in my robes. I alternate generally between 3 different fluffy or fleece type warm ones. In the morning while I drink my coffee, read my emails, Do my word puzzles, and catch up on social media.
I also have some thinner and shorter robes that I’ll pack when I travel, because I don’t want one of those fluffy robes taking all that room in the suitcase.
If I’m having a dizzy, migraine aura day, I can’t drive anywhere, and I might not see any point to getting dressed. TBH, sometimes I’ll go up and get dressed when it’s time for my DIL to come home from work. Because she worries about me less if she thinks I’m functioning better.
