Very interesting. Glad you shared this - I've learned a lot already. (and do white women really call black women "sis" - that made me cringe.) Me too! I love the phrases to google for digging deeper. I’ve been called sis a time or two though it didnt bother me. Made my ears perk up but 🤷🏾♀️. The woman who does this introduces herself to all Black women using the same “script”. Complete with pulling an Octavia Butler book out of a bag. I could see that she was trying to find her footing socially and found it relatable I guess 😂 |

It does when you want to escape your shitty family and you have rich friends that will offer their security teams and resources to you. They went where the money resides 🤷🏾♀️
As someone who has left the US for more tolerant pastures....it’s really fucking hard to find a place that isn’t anti-black FYI. Colonization ruined many many countries.

With regard to your background question - That’s one of the pre programmed backgrounds on zoom. DH is a teacher and they have a rules that they have to use the school’s preprogrammed background as opposed to whatever is actually behind them. Hmm okay thanks. Georgia might want to add some rules about the responsibility educators have in being anti-racist and informed. |

In early March 1965, a peaceful crowd of 600 people began a protest march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, to show their support for Black voting rights. Police armed with batons, pepper spray, and guns attacked the marchers on Selma’s Edmund Pettus Bridge in a violent assault that came to be known as “Bloody Sunday.” After the attack, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other organizers remained determined to complete the march. Dr. King urged clergy to come to Selma and join the march to Montgomery. Hundreds of clergy from across the country heeded the call and traveled to Selma; one of them was Reverend James Reeb, a 38-year-old white Unitarian minister from Boston. On March 9th, Dr. King led 2,500 marchers onto the Edmund Pettus Bridge for a short prayer session. That evening, three white ministers–Orloff Miller, Clark Olsen, and James Reeb–were attacked and beaten by a group of white men opposed to their civil rights work. Struck in the head with a club, Rev. Reeb suffered a severe skull fracture and brain damage. Fearing that he would not be treated at the “white only” Selma Hospital, doctors at Selma’s Black Burwell Infirmary ordered Rev. Reeb rushed to the Birmingham hospital. After a series of unfortunate events, including car trouble and confrontations with local police, Rev. Reeb reached the hospital in Birmingham in critical condition. He died on March 11, 1965, leaving behind his wife and four children. Three white men later indicted for Rev. Reeb’s murder were ultimately acquitted by an all-white jury. More widely reported than the death of local Black activist Jimmie Lee Jackson a few weeks earlier, Rev. Reeb’s death brought national attention to the voting rights struggle. The death also moved President Lyndon B. Johnson to call a special session of Congress, where he urged legislators to pass the Voting Rights Act. I don't think William should have responded to the shouted question quite frankly. I understand when someone asks "is the royal family a racist family" while you're walking down the street - it's hard to not respond. But now we just have a headline that makes it sound like he denied any issue at all and many headlines are making it sound like he was directly contradicting Harry & Meghan which is really not how it went down. The royal family is large, the infamous brooch was worn at a luncheon of 50. I have no doubt whatsoever that Princess Michael of Kent is racist as hell - but I can also acknowledge being a bit annoyed that my grandmother's first cousin's wife's behavior is being painted as systemic. Maybe it is, I don't know these people. I think a more nuanced response could have been crafted. Maybe it is? How could it not be? Racism hurts. Losing your mom young. Weird interacial family dynamics etc all of that hurts. I don’t get why they can’t be shown grace. Even if you disagree with the choices the couple is making for their OWN lives mind you, none of us know intimately how those life experiences can impact you.
All the criticism regardless of whether or not it’s racist comes from a really petty judgement filled space.

2050? Nah it won’t take that long at all. Especially when you consider that the reason America was a leader in anything had everything to do with decades of unpaid labor and the innovation/ideas brought by non-Americans thinking America was actually the land of opportunity.
Now that we’ve got the reputation for being the land of white nationalism and cages why would anyone bother?
The last administration and the pandemic really shined a light on how much of a clusterfuck we actually are.

I don't think the issue of the title was as important to H&M as the fact that he did not get a title meant that he was not entitled to security protection. They kept stating that "because he was not getting a title, he would not get security'. The firm managed to provide E & B security until they were adults. As they expected Harry and Megan to be official working royals, why not provide security for Archie? Harry is still in the direct line from the queen, not just a niece/nephew /great niece/nephew. Archie would be more a target for security issues, then his cousins (except for WM children, but they probably have round the clock protection). The BRF could auction off one of the tiaras, or Saudi gifts and pay for security for Archie's lifetime without a blink. Or all the stolen artifacts they are in possession of |
