I went from a pixel to an iphone and I'm still not exceptionally happy with the changeover. Google has some nice features that iphone doesn't have (more volume control choices between ring, alarm and media, always on display, and some other minor stuff). I'll probably change back next time I get a phone, if the pixel out at the time is good. Thank you, that is very helpful as that may be my situation too. I think I am pretty convinced to get a pixel again after reading all the posts here. I am not good with technology, and I am not good with change.

I mostly get iPhone emojis. Not all the time, but mostly. The newest Pixel has much better storage then the one you have. Pixels also have more storage then Samsungs which are filled with bloat ware. I didn't know that pixels have more storage than samsungs. That is important for me when I get a new phone. Thanks!

Is your husband able to send you vidoes that he takes on his iphone? I get blurry videos if people with iphones send me a video to my google pixel phone. Also, are you able to be in a group text with iphone users?
My husband hates iphones too, and says he won't be able to help me with any phone issue if I get an iphone. That's one of my big incentives to stick with my current phone or get a new pixel or samsung.
All the versions of Samsungs I've owned and all the versions of iPhone my sister has owned, never have I got a clear video from her. They are so small and so blurry I can't even guess what the video is supposed to be of. She just sends them in IG message. Yes you can be in a group text with iphones. I get the iphone emojis. What is IG message? We will have to try that!

do you have amazon prime? as a member, I have free unlimited photo storage and I think 5G of video storage. I feel like I was constantly running out of room on my iphone and the icloud. and google drive. drives me nuts! My kids have icloud storage, and I often buy them itunes gift cards for more storage. So I may suggest them storing on both icloud and amazon prime. I love that they can have two forms of online storage.

We sure are proud of our flag! I actually love the flag and my dog has a Maryland flag collar and leash. It always impresses me when my neighbors (we are 5 hrs. from my Maryland hometown) recognize our flag! My nephew got married this Spribg and he and his new wife came to Ocean City with us for the 4th. I was explaining to her the love of the MD flag and it was so easy to find examples all around us! MD flag grill covers in Jeeps, window stickers, wheel covers, and clothes. We were in OC July 8th-22nd! Yes, lots of Maryland flags all over. I think that's where we got the dog collar and leash (Kite Loft many years ago).

I have an iphone XR. I transfer my photos from my phone using an app called Photo Transfer App. Don't know how to post the picture of the icon here but it's blue with a two frames overlapping each other in the center and the picture in the center is of daisies. I use it all the time to transfer photos off my phone and it's free!
Do you transfer to cloud or external hard drive? Thanks for the info! I will look into that.

Samsung Galaxy has the best cameras and are also easier to navigate. We love ours. Apple has great marketing, not so great phones in my opinion. Thanks! I will look at that phone. I need "easy to navigate"!

My son has a pixel and it does take really good pics. So does my Samsung S21 and DH iPhone, but I agree with the others to probably stick to what you know. For the record, I hate DH iPhone and he hates my S21. We are a family divided. š Is your husband able to send you vidoes that he takes on his iphone? I get blurry videos if people with iphones send me a video to my google pixel phone. Also, are you able to be in a group text with iphone users?

If you're tech challenged stick with the Pixel. Or if your kids are willing to help walk you through things get what they have. This, stick with what you know. Bonus - Pixels take wonder photos. I love my Pixel 6! Also has a Pixel 2 before. A problem I have now is if someone with an iphone sends me a video, it's blurry. Maybe it a problem with my specific phone, not pixels in general? Do you have that problem?
Also, I cannot be in group texting with iphone users. Do you have a problem with that too?

Tell your daughter that I have an iPhone and I save all my photos to a hard drive (both internal and external). You either connect the phone to a computer and download the photos, or you use AirDrop if you have an Apple computer. For you, I would stick with the Pixel. You are familiar with it, and it does take great photos! I also have an iphone. All my photos are in the cloud and backed up to a hard drive too. I agree to sick to the pixel and possibly even keep the one you have Another question for you. When someone with an iphone sends me a picture of video it's usually blurry (especially vidoes). That's part of the reason I want an iphone, so I can get videos from iphone users. But if I can't figure out how to use it, it would be better to stick with what I have. I need to figure out a way to get non blurry videos.
How do you get photos from iphone to hard drive? My daughter's phone has 8 yrs. of not backed up to hard drive photos, so would it take days to upload them? Maybe she should just do a couple years instead of all of them.

Thank you! Are you able to put the pictures directly from your phone to an external hard drive? Yes, you can save any photos from ANY phone to a hard drive via your computer. Here's a link with instructions to move photos from your pixel to a hard drive depending on what computer you have support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2840804?hl=enThank you!

wait, does your phone work and you are just out of photo storage? Let's see if we can help you get the photos off your phone and open up the storage. Much cheaper than a new phone Yes, but is very slow and sometimes just shuts off. I can't have any extra apps as there is no room for anything. My husband does put my photos on a hard drive a couple times a year (my birthday and Christmas gifts I tell him!). But we never check the hard drive to make sure they are on there. He has them go to a drop box, but I worry that if something happens I could still loose them. I don't know if drop box is 100% safe or not.
I have a daughter on a university dance team, so we have season tickets for football and basketball and I take soooo many pictures of her perfroming at all games and bowl games, etc. So they take up so much space. And I am too scared to delete any of the pictures or videos.

BLASPHEMY! Lol š The Maryland flag has been described as the perfect state flag ā bold colors, interesting patterns, and correct heraldryāa flag that fairly shouts "Maryland." Interesting? It's much too busy and headache inducing. It's not cohesive. But hey, to each their own, huh? We all like different things. We sure are proud of our flag! I actually love the flag and my dog has a Maryland flag collar and leash. It always impresses me when my neighbors (we are 5 hrs. from my Maryland hometown) recognize our flag!

That's funny-I don't care for the MD state flag at all! I think it's much too busy looking and ugly. Love the Chesapeake Bay though BLASPHEMY! Lol š The Maryland flag has been described as the perfect state flag ā bold colors, interesting patterns, and correct heraldryāa flag that fairly shouts "Maryland." Haha, I love the Maryland flag too! Love seeing the big flag on the field at University of Maryland pre-games! They started unrolling it on the field when I was on the Dance Team at Maryland and they still do it today! We have season tickets!

That's terrible that you were born there and still didn't get citizenship. I am so happy you finally got it! I will let my friend know about this and maybe her husband can get citizenship (if he wants to, not sure if he is aware). Thank you for this interesting information. Yep, took until I was 61 years old before Germany finally changed the law when it should have been something that was automatic when I was born. I met a guy once who had dual citizenship who'd never been to Germany but it was through his grandfather. He couldn't speak a word of German, had never been there, nor had his parents ever lived there. Really burned me up. I'm so glad the law was finally changed. My father told me it was because Germany is the fatherland. If my father had been German rather than my mother I would have had dual citizenship when I was born. That is so unfair! I would be so angry. I can't believe it took them this long to change the law. I am happy for you that you finally got your well deserved citizenship.

If you use Google photos you can store on the cloud. I have a pixel. The photos are really good. Thank you! i will look into that. My google phone google pixel 4 does take good pictursl
Does that work for an iphone too? My daughter has an iphone and doesn't think she can save any photos other than the icloud. She says she can't save onto a hard drive. But could she use google photos to save her pictures to google photos, then send a copy from google photos to an external hard drive?
I am so old fashioned, I miss the film and negatives!

I am probably the most tech challenged person you will ever "know". I have to get a new phone and am having a hard time deciding between an iphone, android or google pixel phone.
I currently have a google pixel and it's almost 4 yrs. old. I am out of room for photos, I take way too many and have no idea how to store them on a hard drive.
My priorities in a new phone are getting good photos and videos.
Need to be able to store photos/videos on an external hard drive. My kids tell me you can't do that easily with an iphone.
What do you recommend, and what are the pros and cons of your recommendation?
Thanks so much!

I had no idea about the double standard with German citizenship (whether the mom or dad was German). My best friend's husband did have dual citizenship I think. His mom was German and his dad American. But he was born in Germany and lived there a few years. I will have to ask! I am glad they finally recognize dual citizenship with both German mothers and fathers. I don't blame you for worrying about staying in the US. I was born in Germany too, spent the first 6 years of my life there and German is the first language I spoke. My Mom is German (still is-she never gave up her German citizenship) and my Dad is American. Still I didn't qualify for dual citizenship until Germany realized that the law was sexist and changed it about 2 years ago. Now there is a 10 year window (8 years left) for folks like me to apply for dual citizenship. I was thrilled when I found out the law had finally changed! My heart has always been in Germany. That's terrible that you were born there and still didn't get citizenship. I am so happy you finally got it! I will let my friend know about this and maybe her husband can get citizenship (if he wants to, not sure if he is aware). Thank you for this interesting information.

I've lived in 23 different places in my life and this is the first time a place has felt like home. I moved to Annapolis, MD after my divorce from my ex for a fresh start. I moved here because I loved sailing and because it was close enough to my ex who lived in Arlington, Va to pick up DS for visitation. I hated Arlington, Va where we'd lived for 6 years-it felt like concrete city to me. I've now lived in Annapolis for the past 29 years. This is why I love where I live: The trees-it's very green here. The Chesapeake Bay and all of the water sports including the sailing The history The size of the small city-it has everything but it's not a huge city The location-within 45 minutes you can be in either Washington DC or Baltimore Access to many airports The incredible public library But, and this is a big but I don't see myself living here forever. The state of our country greatly concerns me. I now qualify for dual citizenship with Germany (since they finally changed the law that said if your Mom is German and your father is American you don't get dual citizenship, but if it's the other way you automatically do when you are born) and am seriously considering moving to Germany if things really go south. It'd be a huge change for both DH and I and there are a ton of things that would factor into it, but I'm thrilled that I finally have a legal "out" if things really do go south (like if Desantis gets elected president). If things stabilize in this country I can see myself retiring here, maybe even staying in the same house. Certainly staying in the same neighborhood and trading in this house for a rancher. I had no idea about the double standard with German citizenship (whether the mom or dad was German). My best friend's husband did have dual citizenship I think. His mom was German and his dad American. But he was born in Germany and lived there a few years. I will have to ask! No, I don't hide. In nice weather we have our storm door so they can see inside and they know someone is home. In winter, our new door is 3/4 glass so solicitors would be able to see if I am in a certain part of the house. I just open the door and tell them we are on the do not knock list, and they are supposed to leave. We don't get many solicitors since our town started the do not knock list.

I have started making a "smoothie" with frozen fruit and sparkling water. I have a blendjet 2 that I got at Target a couple years ago and hardly used. It doesn't blend the fruit well at all, and I have to charge it after just one or 2 uses.
I need recommendations for a new blender or whatever you can use to make a smoothie.

Just a heads-up, as of today, 7/25/23, All Her Fault by Andrea Mara is still on sale on Kindle for $.99. I read, enjoyed and gave it 4 Stars. Well worth 99 cents. My review is up above. I also bought it when pjaye mentioned the other book by Mara. I can't wait to read it!
I read The Whispers and liked it but got confused with the people and time frame.
I am so bad at remembering the title of my kindle books. I really need to get better so I can keep track of what I read.

I also never thought of āsweetā as infantilizing. I use it often - to describe my kids (in their mid 20s), elderly peopleā¦even dogs. When we were out to dinner there was just the sweetest dog next to us and I keep commenting on him! I agree, I think of it as being a complement to any gender/age. I think of it as meaning the person is very nice and respectful.
But I can understand someone not wanting to be called "sweetie" or any nickname. I don't think I have ever used "terms of endearment" on anyone. That's just not my style! But I am not big on nicknames. I know, I am odd, haha! I have a daughter Emily and I cringe if anyone would call her "Em" or "Emmy".

Where I grew up our family was one of the only Protestant families, most our friends were Catholic. I loved going to the Catholic church with my friends and boyfriend. When I started law school, I was living in a different area and most were not Catholic. But the religion didn't make any difference, my Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, etc. friends were way more similar than different. I hope this makes sense!

My husband used to travel a lot for work and I would get so much done! Not having to cook and being able to leave a mess while working on a project were what helped. Then he would conme home and the house would look great! He got a new job and he never travels anymore as he has his sales people do that now. So our house is way behind, haha!
