We call that getting takeout! We just have one standard size refrigerator (growing up we had two) and a small pantry and limited kitchen storage. The grocery store is 1 mile away and walmart 2 miles away (but can take 15 min. with traffic). So I usually shop every day or two and get just enough for that meal. So not usually anything sitting around to make a meal with.

I keep telling my husband the cost of groceries so he doesn't complain when he sees our credit card bills! He wants to eat as we always have and he still wants me to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, so he can't complain about the cost. I agree about sometimes take out is almost the same cost, so I prefer take out as I hate to cook and clean up!
Our three girls are out of the house now (grad school, working, college) so it's so much cheaper. I can't imagine what our bill would be if we were still feeding three hungry girls as well as us!

How do you find them on social media? I am new to instagram but have instagram. I would love to see what the kids look like. I feel like I used to know them from Lisa's layouts. I just searched Instagram for one of the boys' names. Then from his account I could see where his sisters were either tagged in a photo or commented on a post and from there I could go to their accounts. At least 3 of the Bearnson kids have public accounts so it was easy to see what they posted. Not like I'm a creepy stalker or anything, but I learned some pretty good social media sleuthing skills when my DDs were in high school - I wanted to keep an eye on who they were hanging out with, etc. Oh, that's a good idea! I don't know the sons names, just Brecken and Sage. Are the accounts on instagram? My kids all have instagram, but I didn't have it until recently, so I am not good and instagram skills! When I want to know what someone is up to, I just ask my daughters to look. My husband and I are clueless about social media! Our kids never have to worry about us stalking them in any way!

Our mask mandate ended June 2021, but I still wear a mask. People in our area are pretty anti vax and anti mask. So I don't feel comfortable around here. I have been vaccinated and boosted, so I know my chance of getting covid is very low. But I can't afford to get covid now, so not taking my chances. I have a disabled German Shepherd and her care is very demanding. So my family will continue to wear masks and avoid crowds. I am so used to it having worn masks for almost two years that it would feel so odd to me not to wear one! I wonder if the numbers are dropping so much because so many have the at home tests now? They wouldn't get reported, so if someone tests positive, only they would know. But hospitalizations have dropped too - at least where I am. And doctor visits. So, things are definitely better. I agree about home tests, but things are better. That's great! And we are also over a month past the holidays, so less parties, etc.
I just wish the numbers were going down because the anti vaxxers were finally getting vaccinated. Our local school district will not mandate the vaccine because of all the anti vaxxer/covid is just a cold parents. So happy that my kids are at vaccine mandated colleges.

I only watched a couple episodes and it's okay. I am not a fan of Kristen Bell, but I wanted something to have on as I cleaned. I wish I could figure out how to post a spoiler because I want to ask a couple things but don't want to spoil it for anyone. See the last icon on the top of your quick reply, the one with a hand over the mouth? Just click on that. A box with come up, put your spoiler there. Thanks, I will try that!

I saw on one of Lisa/Steve's children's social media posts that Steve was admitted to the ICU with Covid on January 20 and was put on a ventilator January 22. So sad. I remember he gave up his first career in order to become a teacher. Most recently he taught high school business classes. I hope his family can find comfort in their memories of their husband/father. How do you find them on social media? I am new to instagram but have instagram. I would love to see what the kids look like. I feel like I used to know them from Lisa's layouts.

When I call a friend, I always say who it is first. I cannot recognize voices so caller ID is my favorite thing! I don't want people to feel uncomfortable not knowing my voice, so I say who I am right away so they don't feel uncomfortable. My husband may call someone he doesn't call much and never says who it is.
Calling a business I say what I am calling about then say my name.

I loved her magazine, and really miss keeping up with her family. We named our daughter (middle name) Brecken, her daughter's name. I loved the name. I was even going to make a scrapbook page and send it to the magazine with how we got her name. But I didn't.

I do all of those too, my dishwasher just doesn't wash well. We tried not cleaning our dishes first, and it made it even worse. It's so frustrating and such waste of water/expense to have to run the dishwasher twice sometimes. The regular setting takes over three hours, and the quick setting takes an hour and a half. The dishes never dry, regardless of rinse aid.
The place we stay at the beach has a cheap old dishwasher with nothing fancy. It cleans and dries so well! Much better than our more expensive new dishwasher.

I finished an audio book-The School for Good Mothers. It was a Read With Jenna book pick and it was very disappointing. The narration was terrible and the main character was fairly unlikable so I never felt truly vested in the story. I am reading this now, but also don't like the main character.

I called our insurance company and had them email a list of all doctors, urgent care and hospitals that our college kid could go to out of state. I want proof not just what they say on the phone.
My daughter was sick last Sunday, 101 fever, sore throat, sore ears and headache. She went to the in network urgent care that everyone loves at her university. They were awful, didn't check my daughter's throat or ears. So I had to call the insurance company again and see if it was okay to take her to another urgent care. It was very expensive having to pay two co-pays!
The next night she called in the middle of the night because she had a nosebleed for over 30 min. and it wasn't stopping. All urgent cares were closed, but it finally stopped 10 min. later. Next day I called to see what hospitals she could go to if an emergency happens. Don't want to get stuck with a big bill because she went to the wrong place.

You’re not wrong. I will say it’s worth trying. Cushion lab has an excellent refund policy. You can return within 30 days. I called to return the back cushion bc it made my back feel worse. They offered a refund minus what it would have cost to ship it back. So I gave it to my physical therapist to pass on to someone else that could use it. They let you keep it but refunded you the cost if you sent it back? That's good customer service, you make money!
Chewy did something similar (but didn't refund what it would have cost to send because they didn't have us send). We ordered special boots for our dog, but she lost her use of her back legs so fast that we couldn't use it. They refunded the money and told us to donate it to somewhere that could use it! We donated to the humane society where my daughter adopted her cat!

My parents didn't keep anything for my kids to play with. I also didn't keep anything of my kids' toys for future grands. It's just not something I wanted to store for 20-30 years on the possibility it may get used again. I love this! My husband and kids want to save most of it (it is stuff they played with/read, but it;s so much).

My parents kept nothing my inlaws kept everything. My husband didn't have a lot of toys, but he has the FP school, barn, house. I think they saved every book my husband and sil owned. SIL doesn't have kids, so they gave us everything. My husband doesn't get rid of stuff, so we have so much. And I love buying the kids new stuff, so they didn't really use the old stuff. I wish he would just keep the books special to him growing up instead of all of it. I wish my parents didn't get rid of almost everything. A middle between the two grandparents would be perfect!
We saved all Fisher Price Little People and some Sweet Street. The big FP kitcehn, lawn mower, Barbies etc. I don't know if my daughters will get married/have kids, and I wish we didn't have to waste so much space on toy storage, haha! They are hoarders, haha! Once they buy a house, they get all of their stuff so we don't have to store it, haha! If they have kids, I want to buy the fun new stuff! And keep a few old things.

So sorry for everyone's losses. It's so hard to lose a pet. I can't imagine so many losses so close.
Thanks for starting this thread.
Our 9 yr. old 80 pd.German Shepherd was diagnosed with degenerative mylopahty in September. She can no longer use her back legs. We have a special harness to lift her back legs. We have to do everything for her. It's so sad. I cry every day I can't imagine losing her. There is nothing to do to stop it but with intesnive therapy (underwater treadmill and laser therapy) it helps to slow progression. She does it every week. This is very expensive, the constant vet bills, UTI, medicaions, water proof pet blankets all over the floors, therapy. But we want to do what we can. She is now on trazadone for anxiety. She whines every night starting at 5:00 so the medicine helps. I sleep with her in the family room as she can't go up stairs to sleep in our bedroom. We just love her so much!

Good! I can't stand him! Why he doesn't want to keep children safe I don't understand. Maybe mandate the covid vaccine for kids at public schools, then consider dropping the mask mandate.

I don't really follow winter Olympics but I may watch some of it. I wish I enjoyed it as much as the summer olympics. I didn't realize the Today show group that was at the summer olympics were not attending the winter Olympics.

I wouldn't expect someone to pay if they are doing a favor. But maybe I don't understand the situation.
Is there childcare in the area the parent is going to? If it's with the military, do they have military childcare at the place he or she will be working? If so, maybe that's easier than staying with a relative the child doesn't know. It's hard without more information, so maybe my suggestions wouldn't work.

I didn't know you could order them. I thought you had to go to a store, buy them, then hope your insurance will reimburse. I bought some the day before they announced they were "free". My daughter had to have a negative test to return to college and they could do at home. I gave her the extras to take to school.
My husband and I are boosted and wear masks all the time, so we aren't too concerned that we will get covid. But also, we don't trust our insurance company to reimburse us (they made us pay $54 for a flu shot). I will look into ordering them for free as we want to keep our college kids well stocked (even though both colleges mandate boosters and masks).

We are supposed to get ice in southwest PA but it mostly will stick to trees and power lines as the roads are warmer (2 45 degree days). But could get a layer on the roads so everything is closing early. I worry about taking my 79 pd. German Shepherd out. She cannot use her back legs at all so she is on a special harness. I worry about us both slipping on the yard as it's starting to get icy (8 inches of snow melted in two days).

I have never done it, but I wouldn't think of tipping. I don't tip a store employee that spends time helping me find an item in the backroom or searching around the store to help. I don't know why one group would get tipped and not the other. When an employee is especially friendly and helpful, I often compliment them to the manager.Have you seen the new Progressive "don't be your parents" commercial? Haha, yes, I saw it over the weekend and mentioned it to my husband! I figured people always complain about things, it would be nice to compliment for a change. I thought that was a nice thing to do, but I guess not anymore? It will be so hard to not thank people and compliment them. But if people don't like that, I don't want to do the wrong thing.

I have a good friend who is always super late. We plan to meet for dinner and they are always 30- minutes or more late. It’s rude, disrespectful and shows that they don’t care about your time. I’ve tried ordering without them being there, and that does phase them. We’ve tried telling them an hour earlier but that doesn’t work either. That would be so frustrating! I would love to just tell them to text you when they arrive, then you will leave your house then. So unfair for you to always be the one waiting. Or always meet at a place close to your house, so you can leave after they get there. But then you are still stuck waiting around for them to arrive. I'm frustrated for you!

That is so creepy that he told his daughter that he was attracted to her friends. I can't imagine her ever having respect for her father. Poor Jane, that's good that you and your husband both support her. She can obviously do much better than "D".
I just can't imagine a mom/dad telling their son/daughter that they are attracted to their friends. That's just wrong.
