Some more that I tried and gave up on. Textured turtle- way too much detail , could not cut little bits off the back. Flourished Poinsietta corner- too thin, kept breaking. Boo- letters made from spiderwebs- same as the turtle. January, cursive font-tried to cut at 5inches, too intricate. Just because title , with a simple scroll at beginning and end- kept breaking. you and me, infinity symbol- kept breaking.

On my other thread it was suggested we have a thread that can be added to, listing files that are great and those that are not.
I'll start with a 0/10 for a Meow title file that has a little cat face in the O. Cannot get this to cut smoothly, even at a reasonable size.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I wish there was a rating system, I've bought some definite duds! I am going to try the snipping tool idea. I usually have the store open but that means opening the screen and using my memory to remember which bit goes where!
And yes I do just drag the border, never even thought of entering the number.
I think I probably need to look up some more video tutorials or take an online class. I still haven't used the print and cut. I found a great tutorial and then I upgraded and the instructions were no longer relevant.

I love my Cameo but only use designs from their store as I have no idea how to use SVG files from other sources. This is not a problem as I have the minimal subscription and have no trouble using up all my credits.
My whinge?? Some of the designs just do not cut well no matter how many adjustments I make. Some of the borders do not resize to 12" without distortion of their shape. I would imagine that they CAN be designed to fit 12" and still only be 1-2 inches wide?
Some of the layered designs are so tricky to work out which bit is which. I tried to make a Holly, Jolly Christmas title that had a cute reindeer, santa hat and a string of lights. After 15 minutes of trying to work out why there were 3 sections to the reindeer's head I just gave up and chose another design. I wish the designer would show a little coloured or numbered sketch to help people like me!
I tried to make a simple Meow title. I think the letters were too close together as it kept shredding the edges of other letters. I don't think it is a blade, speed or cardstock problem as I have cut out many other things today with no problem.
Grrr.

We have a Sam's here but I don't know if it the same- it's a cheap shop right? I bought my first Raskog for $79AUD and I use it in our school library for stationary, scissors, glue etc. It gets pushed around my children daily and is still in perfect condition. One day I saw them on sale for $59AUD so I rushed down and bought 2! One is in my scrapbook room where I use it to put supplies while I'm in the process of creating layouts. This way it is somewhat neat and I can pack it all away when I am finished. The other one is in our bathroom. Top drawer has all my makeup, skincare products, haircare products that I use daily and the bottom 2 shelves store hair dryers, straighteners and basic bathroom supplies.
All of mine are steel grey and I absolutely love them. If I could find plausible reasons to buy more I would!

I have been teaching primary school for 25 years, first 20 yrs as a classroom teacher - every grade from 3-7. The last 5 years I have been the teacher librarian which means I teach RBL, Resource Based Learning/IT with Receptions right through to Year 7. The past 2 yrs I have also taught Science as a specialty subject to years 2,4,5 and 7. This year I will be teaching the Year 3's.
I am lucky in that my job is always changing so I never get bored! I have surprised myself with how much I enjoy teaching science. Teaching it as part of your classroom programme is very different from teaching it as a specialty subject.

I can't believe no-one has mentioned Fawlty Towers! Only 13 episodes, but we can watch them over and over again. I loved Cold Feet and we also enjoy Death in Paradise. Vicar of Dibley, Doc Martin and The Indian Doctor are good also. I think the best thing about British T.V series is that they know when to stop. Long enough to get you interested and invested in the show, but they rarely drag on and on. Probably why I can watch them more than once. Corinne

This is a great idea and your video was really enjoyable to watch. Your life looks quirky and full of real life moments.
I might try it myself, I think it's like a visual Project Life, but a lot quicker to skim through. I really liked your choice of music too.

I lurked on 2Peas for 12 years and promised myself that I would post more so here goes!
I'm Corinne, 51 yrs old. I was born in India to a Burmese mother and an Anglo- Indian father, but have lived in Australia since I was 2. I have been with my S/O for 22 years and although he proposed and I wear the ring, we still haven't got around to actually getting married. We have two children between us, both in their early 30's and my daughter has provided us with a smart, funny 16 yr old grandson. I have just celebrated my 25th year of being a teacher and currently work as a primary school librarian (my absolute dream job), but also teach science.
I will confess that I own 10 cats. They were all strays and after I started feeding and desexing them, well ... they became our pets. 9 of them are old now, between 10-13 yrs old, but the last whom we found abandoned in the roof of our library during renovations is only 4 and is the boss of our house.
I still love to scrapbook, but no longer go to crops/camps as most LSS here have closed down, so mostly in my own little scrapbook room. My husband has his own little music room so it all works out!
We usually holiday where there is water (husband dives) , oh and golf courses, so we have been to Fiji several times and last year went to Hawaii. We loved it so much we are hoping to return there soon.

I have an avatar from this site. It's not the kiwi obviously but two or three other people have it. I tried changing it to a picture of my nephews but it keeps telling me my picture is too big. I have no idea how to make my picture smaller. I managed to use a photo before but now want to change it and it keeps telling me it's too big as well! I hope someone can help us both

Mine came up with the photo and post of my dad's death. It was a big life event and I used one of our favourite family photos from the 70's so it wasn't distressing to me. However, my dad was 80 and had Altzheimers and Parkinsons. It would probably be different for sudden losses or the loss of young children.
I didn't share mine because I'm not a prolific poster anyway but I did enjoy looking at others.

I was just reading about this on an online news source here in Australia. A mall in Pennyslvania, Monroeville Mall near Pittsburgh and it said about 1000 people, mainly girls were involved in brawls all over the mall. It also said that hundreds had started gathering about 5pm so definitely a social media link. Some shops shut their gates, giving customers the option to stay inside or go. However, the article says only TWO girls were arrested and doesn't really give any information on why or how it all started. Very strange to hear it was happening at several malls.

YES!! not as much nowadays. but there was a time many years ago that I would always seem to wake and look at the clock at 11:10 at night. My birthday is the 11th of October so I always linked it to that. ( we do our dates different here, so 11/10 is my birthday)

They are not chipboard, but I am really loving the Kaisercraft packs. I buy most of their collections in a pack and find all the little bits and pieces perfect for embellishing.
I recently used their Bow and Arrow set and completed 9 pages of a family event so quickly because apart from titles made on my Cameo, I used their borders and ephemrea packs. They are some of my favourite pages.

My Dad died this year and his wishes were to be cremated and some of his ashes sprinkled over my brother's grave. My brother died tragically at the age of 25 and was cremated, but his ashes were interred at a cemetery with a plaque to mark the spot. We have been waiting for them to be sent to us (he lived 800km away from us) and have just recently found out that despite it all being discussed BEFORE he died and after his wife had the entire lot interred in a cemetery in their town.
My sister and I had flown down there to spend time with him and took her to the funeral directors , so we just assumed his wishes would be followed. It has been quite devastating to know that they weren't and his wife doesn't seem to want to speak to us anymore. Her daughters have asked us to go through them as she is not coping and that's why she did it. We don't seem to have been included in any reading of his will either and are deciding whether to pursue this as well.
My husband and I are to be cremated (it's in our wills) and after a wonderful trip to Hawaii last year, have decided that our ashes need to be scattered there. That way, one of us gets another beautiful holiday in paradise!
We do have the cremains of our dog in an urn on our hallway cupboard. My daughter had it done so I guess she will take him with her when she leaves home.

Sadly a 38 yr old mother of 3, a lawyer who worked nearby and a 34 yr old man who was the manager of the Lindt shop were killed along with the gunman.
It seems that the manager may have attempted to wrestle the gun away when the gunman started dozing at 2 am and a shot was fired. Police stormed the building and it is believed they were killed in the crossfire.
The gunman was granted political asylum here years ago and was currently out on bail for charges of being an accessory to his ex wife's murder and multiple sexual assault charges. (he was acting as a "spiritual healer" and that's were the sexual assault charges came from)
The Muslim community had long ago denounced him, so hopefully people will realise that this was ONE Muslim person doing a terrible thing. My facebook has been full of positive comments and messages of support for Muslims in Australia.

We have been watching all day. 5 people have got out of the café, not released but managed to get out, 3 employees and 2 customers. It is pretty well confirmed that it is only one man who has a shotgun or handgun. He is wearing a large backpack which is probably where the bomb threat stuff is coming from. Sadly , because it is being assumed he is Muslim, hate groups and lots of just uneducated, racist people are all over the media saying that it has happened because we have allowed "TERRORISTS" into our country and I even saw on Facebook a post where they claimed the "prime minister has blood on his hands"
It is very scary for the Muslim community because this sort of non factual nonsense gets sent around like it's the truth and somehow ALL Muslims are looked upon with suspicion. Our police are being very careful to not use the word terrorism at all - it is being considered a "siege situation" until further details are known. It's 9:30 pm here now and it started at 9:45 am so hopefully the negotiations will continue and all the hostages will be released unharmed.
Corinne Thanks for the update Corinne. Keep safe. I read on one of the reports over here that there's a twitter group called " RideWithYou" where other non Muslims have volunteered to ride on public transport with anyone from the Muslim community to keep them safe. What a wonderful gesture to protect innocent Muslims that have nothing whatsoever to do with the fanatics that are using their faith for their own goals. ETA thanks lightetc I apologize I got the name wrong. I was just coming back to post the illridewithyou# information! I truly believe that more and more people are getting sick and tired of the targeting of innocent people. One of my Facebook friends just posted that she had defriended her first 'friend" for posting inflammatory/conspiracy posts re: Muslims and the situation in Sydney. I hope that many people take up the offers of riding with others and post lots of pictures.

My subscription ran out yesterday and I've been wondering whether to renew again also. I am on the lowest level - $8.00 per month I got it for and I have been having trouble using up all my credits. The comment about Black Friday sales makes me think I'll go and check it out. If it is still cheap I probably will, overall it will cost me almost the price one Cricut cart used to cost me!
Like others, I am finding the designs too cutesy and while I love the more elaborate designs, I find that many of them are nearly impossible to cut out cleanly. I started subscribing before my Cameo even arrived at Christmas time 2010. I am not creative, clever or motivated enough to learn how to cut my own files and I have never worked out to use files I downloaded from 2Peas so I guess the Silhouette store is really the way to go for me.

The only thing I think of when I hear the word "yank" is Don Lane! He was an American entertainer who had his own variety show here in Australia for many years and was always called the "lanky yank" - he was tall and thin.
I don't think it's necessarily derogatory, but I don't hear it used very often either. I just call American people, Americans. My husband probably uses it more, but he's Welsh.

We have had a crazy day here. Very hot at times - up to 100, super stormy with thunder and lightening then torrential rain and hail! The humidity was insane afterwards. The heat I can handle but it is normally very dry here, we generally don't get humidity or storms like today. I sat outside and watched it all unfold Do you live in Adelaide? We had 50 thousand lightning strikes here this morning and a 15 yr old boy was shocked by lightning 3 streets away from our house. The thunder, lightning and rain was amazing. And our weather forecast said "9% chance of rain" !! It was a really weird day, very muggy. Our weather is usually so uninteresting, this is the first time I have ever commented on a weather thread. Here is a meme I saw today -Good luck this Thanksgiving explaining why you're still single and Charles Manson isn't.
I really don't understand how prisoners with no chance of release ever have to right to get married at all. If you truly love someone in prison surely communication and visits don't require a wedding ring. I read somewhere that she is estranged from her family. How sad for them, they have probably spent many years trying to persuade her against seeing him, never mind marrying him.

Did you really expect to get any kind of answer other than "over my dead body does anyone ride in my car without a seat-belt" from the Peas? Of course other people are lackadaisical with their (and other's) personal safety. It's a big, wide world out there and they can't all be as perfect as we are. I realize that I, while not perfect, am a total safety freak as I expect the worst. A real life friend was a bit eh about it. She's from ny and visits regularly. She figures her son rides in the back of cabs all the time. She wouldn't want him in the front without a seat belt, but not overly worried about the back. I don't know how to highlight bits of a post yet. I'm addressing the bit about cabs. Do they not have seatbelts or are the laws different regarding wearing them while in a cab? I can't even remember what it is like to ride in a car without a seatbelt, it's been law here for so long. And while 7 miles may not seem a long distance, I've read somewhere that many accidents happen without a few km of your own home. Corinne

The house we bought had custom made curtains and padded pelmets. Very expensive and only bought recently before the sale. We still have some up but the style of colour of most of them did not suit us. They are wrapped in plastic in our shed, we keep meaning to give them to Goodwill as they were made for narrow windows and probably would be difficult to sell.
I think buying cheaper curtains and putting them up before leaving is a great idea. Not too ugly and cheap in case they can't replace them straight away and definitely in a neutral colour.

Clearly, at 19 she will make her own decisions, but as a parent I too would feel worried and would definitely express my concerns.
When my grandson was younger I told him not to ride a motorcycle (I've known 3 people who died and one who has been in a wheelchair since he was 19), not to get a tattoo (I've amended this one- wait till he is 25!) and not to go surfing (too many sharks!)
Of course, this was all tongue in cheek, but it is normal human nature to want to protect your family. Every day I see motorcyclists weave in and out of traffic, and have seen many close calls. In no way do I want to imply all riders are at fault, but the fact is they are less visible than other cars. And just reading the statistics on injuries sustained during bike crashes compared to car crashes is enough to convince me that I would be stressed if my daughter or grandson starting riding one.
Strangely enough, I have no concerns about my husband scuba diving ever and we live in Great White territory , so go figure!
I must ask though, is it not compulsory to wear helmets in some places? I cannot imagine even getting onto a bike without one. But we can't ride a bicycle without a helmet either here.
