call daily and them switch providers if you can. That is crap. FWIW, I buy through my ophthalmologist. I don't feel they are expensive, I use my insurance and I know I am getting exactly what she recommends I need to give them a call to remind again. I could switch providers, but I like having one close. I don't want to end up driving 2 hours, which is OK when I have time to plan for it. My regular eye doctor just retired, and I loved him. Had his cell # and he encouraged me to call at any time. He always told me to just call him and not to go to the ER for anything with the eyes. He would just drive down and open up his office. DH just went through having metal taken out of his eye and we deal with scratched corneas and other eye issues, just do to the nature of our work. So only having to drive 20 minutes to our small town, as opposed to going to the 'city' is kind of a big thing. I'm hoping I like the new doc, but I loved my old one. Change is hard! LOL We have gave the new local dentist the boot. It was up-sell and Xray out the ears. Nope. Seems like the old fashioned docs who weren't in it to empty your pockets are a dying breed.

If they have to ask the Doctor then I’m guessing your RX is over a year old and you’re asking for an extension. Nope 3 months since last complete exam. I'm a bit frustrated with them at the moment. I have purchased my glasses and contacts from them, which I don't mind doing. I think they give me a good deal. But I just want my prescription. They seem very resistant, and I know they have to give it to me. I think they are trying to out wait me.

These cap lights from Amazon are amazing! I have bought several sets. DH loves them for working after dark on the farm. When he is planting late into the night, he can see into the planter when he is filling. Great for working on engines too - even during the day. You can clip it on the bill of your hat or onto your shirt. SUPER bright! Just make sure you get the one that says "2pcs Shirt Pocket Cap Lights" .. there is also a listing on the same page that is for "2pcs COB5W Red Light Flashing" and that one isn't as good, plus you have to click through the red blinking light to get it shut off. But the "Shirt Pocket Cap Light" one is fantastic. You can swivel the head up and down too - so darn handy! And really bright! LED cap light

Currently trying to get my eye doctor to send me my prescription. They don't seem to keen on getting it to me When I asked for it at the office, things went silent. Then they said "Dr. will have to approve and we will mail it to you" .. been a few weeks.

I see most people wearing masks in my area.
School has been going on since the end of August. All sports have been held. I was frankly pretty worried about it. We did have a decent spike in November, but it has taken a hard turn down in numbers since then.
Currently 0 new cases in my county and 1 on going case.

To each their own. But as a child of older parents (not nearly THAT old, though) ... there are some great consequences.
I lost my Dad when I was 20. My mom was younger than him, and lived to see my kids as babies, but she was older and could not travel easily.
There are some advantages to older parents, and I am sure it is different in every case, but I think older parents are a little more mellow. My parents retired when I was very young, so we got to go do really fun things. Money wasn't a huge issue.
But they need to have a backup plan in place for someone to raise this kid if something happens to them. That should be the case for every parent, because you just never know - but starting out as parents when you are less than 10 years from 'elderly' ... you need to have a good plan in place for guardians.
You are also probably going to be burden to a very young person also. Your going to be 75 when they are a senior in High School. Almost 80 when they graduate college, if your lucky enough to still be topside.

I think it's likely that I will get another job, but when? And the vacation will be 2-3 weeks. Ugh. I would really think about how many people are going to be out looking for jobs now and in the near future. I don't know your field, so it could be more specific and not have a large number of people applying, but there are so many people who are losing their jobs now due to many factors from the pandemic, and just the overall change in areas of employment. Keep in mind what health insurance costs. It's amazing that your current employer will pick up the cost of Cobra for as long as they do. But shop for health insurance a bit, just to see what it will cost if you lose it or if a new job doesn't have quite the quality of insurance you have now. We pay over 12K a year with a 6 K deductible. We are self employed. But when people find out how much it can actually cost to get health insurance, they are often shocked! I would have a hard time leaving a secure position with secure benefits right now. Also - we seldom go on vacation (last actual vaca was in 2018 for 6 days) and work 7 days a week. DH has had only had 2 days since then when he didn't actually work. One day his back was so bad he physically could not stand. The second was a real no-work day! So the concept of taking weeks off is just a foreign concept to me, and that colors my take on this! LOL

Ugh! I hate ticks!
We don't really have the nasty deer ticks here, just mostly dog ticks. But I still hate them.
I somehow luck out and rarely have one, because I am out in the timber and pastures daily.
That creepy feeling you get after finding one on you is hard to shake!

We live in a heavily populated urban area and he is the person who drives exactly or a bit under the speed limit in the passing lane and subsequently blocks traffic. He drives at least 10 miles under the speed limit on the highway and slows down when cars start piling up behind him. He says he does this to save gas. Very passive aggressive driver, way too scary in many aspects. You are a saint. I would open the door and shove him out.

I saw this on TikTok (god help me - I am deleting that app when I start my spring busy season!)
I don't know. I cry foul on this. It usually ends up with the person who found it, having put it in the box.
Or it could have been tampered with after leaving the processing plant.
Any food processor has extremely high packaging standards. Not that something can't go wrong - but if things are looking 'taped' together, someone has tampered with it beyond the factory.

My DH drives a huge Chevy Silverado double cab, full bed truck. My DH drives a F250 super duty with the full size double cab and long box... so it is .... long. I drive it when I need to. But it is his rolling office. It is full of vet supplies, fencing supplies, tools, sometimes a diesel tank in the back. It has the 5th wheel hitch, so if I am hauling livestock - it is in that truck. It has the big V10, so it does scoot down the road fully loaded I drive a F150 with the full size double cab, but short box. I have two. I have my old one that is my farm truck. I have a new one that is my "going to town" truck. We don't own any cars at all. The smallest vehicle we have is my F150. But we are basically the same size. I don't need to move the seats. DH sits taller, so if I am hauling the trailer or going any long distance in his truck, I do move the mirrors. Otherwise, I don't need to move anything. If we go together, I am usually the driver.

My sister COULDN’T BELIEVE her daughter didn’t want the schoolwork and drawings she had saved over her childhood. My sister had 7 HUGE tubs full of all that stuff. My niece wanted none of it and I don’t blame her. I have found that when you have a couple 'treasures' from childhood -they think that is so cool. If you have tubs of it - they don't even want to look at it. I am not a saver of too much of that stuff. I have a few things from each kid in a folder for 'someday'

That is so sad. Two of my kids have had a classmate end their life. One was in middle school, the other college. I tried to keep the lines of communication open about it. I felt it was important to talk about it and reflect on both the person who is gone and those who are left behind.

We have raccoons, opossums, and a HUGE groundhog that frequent our property. SO doesn't appreciate the destruction of the groundhog so I'm betting he won't be around for long this spring/summer. We also have the occasional mole, NOT a nice critter! Are you my neighbor? LOL I have all those animals. I have a new mole trap this year. We will see how it works! Groundhogs have to GO. They are kind of fun to watch, especially with babies, but they are so destructive. Coons are just exploding in numbers. They really no longer have any value to fur trappers, so they are really increasing in numbers. It's sad. I see some huge boar coons out and about now. It is fun seeing more minks. Those little buggers are vicious too! I saw more beaver last year, than I have ever seen. Seeing a few otters once in a while. I have also been seeing more badgers. Not in my yard, although I had a dead one (ran over) at the end of my driveway a few years ago. He must have been lost. But I see them down by the river more often now. I give them a WIDE berth. Oye - they are fierce. Not messing around with those! I usually do not carry anything other than a shovel when I'm down there, so I don't want to start something! LOL

I only remove business type ones, or payment reminders I have set up.
I increased my iCloud storage space. It's only .99 a month. I just buy a big iTunes card every couple years and load that into my account (I don't want my bank or credit card tied to it). It deducts the .99 and I get a ton of cloud storage. So I offload all that stuff to the cloud. It's also there when I get a new phone or lose a phone.

People need to learn that their actions have consequences. Often, that’s a tough lesson to learn What I thought and said when I was 19 is vastly different than what I though and said when I was 27, and again still different than what I say now in my mid 50's. We grow. We learn. Life is a journey. Not everyone will have the same thoughts and options. Some are racists and homophobic all their lives. When I was young as a teenager in high school, I though homosexuals were something to be made fun of and not anything that could be accepted. Transgender? That would have been just off the charts. Do I think or feel like that now? Absolutely not. In no way. I have grown emotionally and have life experience now. I recoil at how I thought about those things. I regret if I ever said something to someone unknowingly, that hurt them. That would give me deep regrets. I can't go back and un-say these things. If I knew I hurt them, I would apologize. I'm having a really hard time feeling sorry for someone who posted racists thoughts on the internet. It is wrong and inexcusable today just as it was 10 years ago. I thank my lucky stars that there was no internet. It would be so dang easy to post absolutely stupid things when you are young. I see it now. I know that some of these kids have deep regret for what they posted as they get older. They apologize, but people still rail on them about it. What do they need to do? Cut off a limb?

omg, that's crazy! I'm such a weenie, I'm not used to injuries like this. Poor Dh! I think the Pioneer Woman's ordeal with the wreck really hits home with me. A lot in my life parallels with hers (except the money and fame - lol) We farm and ranch. We have been fortunate that we haven't had any major life threatening, or worse, incidents in a long time here. But my heart just stops when I get a call about "needing stitches" or "call the clinic and see if they can squeeze me in" .. because those can often be a lot more serious that what I am initially led to believe! Like getting hit in the face with a branch and shoving bottom teeth all the way through the bottom lip. Oh man. He drove himself in on that one. Lots of stitches inside the mouth and only a couple outside. All the teeth were fine though! We have had a few field fires, that were thankfully small, contained, and easily put out by the fire department. But I swear I have to go take a nap when it is all over. That adrenaline push about kills me. We don't have our own fire equipment, like they do down south. Pastures are not managed by fire here, like they are down south. We mainly deal with field fires in the fall while we are harvesting, and those go from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye. We keep fire extinguishers in EVERYTHING. Even my daily driver has a big one in it during the fall. We also keep a big water tank filled with water and a big 4wd tractor (the old one, lol) with a big disc attached to disc down a fire break. We disc down a fire break as soon as we open up a field, when the conditions are dry. And it sits there in case a fire breaks out - or a neighbor has a fire. Every person on the farm knows how to fire that rig up and get that break disc down ASAP. But you have to know the wind direction and know when to NOT do it. If that tractor sucks in smoke - poof - it shuts down and is dead. And you might be too, if the fire is on you. It is super easy for combines to get a hot bearing and start field fires.

But, the eye doc dug into his eyeball!? omg I didn't know that was possible!? Does it..grow back? His eye filled back in quickly. It really wasn't a big area, but since the metal fragment had started to rust, he had to clean that out too. The Doc popped a clear contact over it and he wore that for a few days, to protect it. Sunlight bothered him a bit, especially when the metal was in his eye. I actually had to drive him into the clinic, which you know is bad! The only other time I had to haul him in, is when a steer kicked him and broke his leg. He hobbled to the truck but I grabbed a wheelchair at the ER entrance that time.

True. I also wonder how much where he landed (in a field versus a hard road surface) was a factor, too. I am pretty sure it is all rangeland out there where they were. The pasture would be as hard as the road.

I think things like this can make such an impression on young kids. You don't want anything bad to happen to them, but when they have a close call, it makes them more aware that they are not immortal. We always have said this was the best worse thing that ever happened to him. Everything turned out ok and it was a major life changing lesson.

I am not ruling it out, but I don't have any immediate plans to get one. If I do, it would be the one does one.
I never get the flu shot.
I am rarely out around people. I have been hyper-sensitive to hand washing and distancing for years before this pandemic.
I am 100% sure anytime I have gotten sick was from touching grocery carts or doors. I had a pretty nasty case of the flu about 20 years ago. Ever since then I have been vigilant about hand washing and not touching my face with my hands if I had been out in public. I have had hand sanitizer and wipes in my rig for way over a decade and would dose myself down with it after going to a store. I immediately wash my hands the minute I walk in my house.
I have rarely even gotten a cold since I started following those practices.
If I had to interact with more people, I would probably have it by now.

My Dad.
My parents were from a way different generation, and conservative. I was a very late in life baby too,so it compounds it more.
I remember my Dad telling me how amazing my Mom was, because she raised her very young kids when he was overseas in the service. She had no idea where he was station a lot of the time. They didn't have much money. She had a young child and a baby and handled it all alone. She paid the bills, saved money and made things work.
My dad lived in some third world countries, and how the women were treated there made a huge impact on him. He respected my mother, they were equal partners, in an era where that wasn't the norm. It was very important to him that I knew how important my mother was, and how important it was that any relationship I was in -that I should be an equal and respected. Even though he was more on the conservative side, it was important that I knew my sex did not dictate what I could do and how I should be treated.

Like impressed with every word you wrote, including you looking at the mangled ear of your son. My DH can remain VERY calm in stressful situations. He was the one who got the call from my son after the wreck, and my son was very upset at the time. He gave my DH the wrong location of the wreck, but DH said he just kept following the open gates until he found him. DH also said he had his V10 Ford pickup wide open on that drive to find him though. DS was very lucky. Very very lucky. If he had a passenger that day, that passenger would have not probably survived. What a lesson though. It changed his 16 year old 'bullet proof and fearless' self, into someone a bit more cautious. DH had him calmed down and had most of the bleeding stopped before he called me. Damn that kid was lucky that day.

what a guy, quietly driving himself to the hospital. Let me tell you, this is quite typical of a farmer/rancher/stockman. Usually the only way I know something is up, is if he calls as asks me to call the clinic to see if he can get in as an office call instead of the ER to save some $$. DS had a really bad side-by-side wreck once. DH calmly called me to come get DS who 'might need a couple stitches'. I about passed out when I saw him. I thought his ear was gone. The call usually starts out as 'hey... could you call in and see if anyone can see me" or "hey I might need a couple stitches, can you call and see if the PA is in" ... Our vet stitches up her husband, but won't do mine. LOL He asked her if she would do it, and she said, nope, not unless you are married to me. But she stitches her DH up and he says her stitches are the best. My DH always removes his own stitches. The Doc usually tells him when to come back in to have them removed and he says, "nah - I'll take them out on my own'. The old guys are fine with it. The newer ones freak out a bit. Latest incident here was metal in his eye. He didn't go in the same day, so it really hurt the next day. Eye doc had to dig a pretty good chunk out to get the rust with it.

You will be shocked to know that it is $370!! YIKES! I know it did not cost anywhere near that, if it cost anything at all here in our district. I am still thinking it did not cost me anything. This would have been in the 2007-2011 time frame, so I am sure things change I'm pretty sure they had to take Driver's Ed, in order to get their school permit to drive at age 14.5. They also got a good insurance discount - but the insurance didn't really go up on them until they turned 16. But school permits were at the Superintendent's discretion. For a long time, they wouldn't sign off on a school permit if you lived within a mile of the school. I think they sign off on them all now, if you pass Drivers Ed. My kids were all able to take college level/credit classes through our school district at no cost to us at all. No book fee, no 'credit hour' fee - nothing. All three of my kids went into Iowa State as sophomores, and had all their Gen Ed classes done and more. This was a pretty major cost savings on the tuition bills for us. It did not count to their cumulative GPA though - so they had to work hard to keep that up high. Since the 'easy' classes for them were done. One kids' first math class in college (Engineering major) was Calc 3. Another one didn't have to take any math classes at all, since he had completed all the college level math he needed, in high school (non math/STEM college major).
