I love how cultivation is traditionally thought of as raising and caring for crops which often involves spreading manure. Becky’s got the latter part down pat.

Gag. This latest email was the final straw for me and I clicked Unsubscribe right then and there.
I remember way back in the day, maybe it was in her Scrapbooking Secrets “book,” where she featured a page about the clothing she wore and she had saved the actual tags from United Colors of Benetton, Esprit, and the like. I remember thinking then that this was quite materialistic, showy, and odd. Again, gag. Now she’s 20 some years older and still quite materialistic, showy, and odd.

We are refinishing our basement (DIY) in our 1500 sf home. It was recommended to us that before we put up drywall we hard-wire internet in the basement so we get the best coverage. After doing some online research DH and I are a little fuzzy on what is the best way to proceed. There are so many options for getting the best internet coverage in a home.
So, what do you have or recommend? We are a family of 4 (a teen and preteen for DDs) in a 1,500 sf home. The finished basement will add 400 sf of living space. We have a nice sized back yard we like to be in. We are not gamers but do a decent amount of streaming for tv.

Check into Celiac disease.
I haven't read all the replies but this sounds similar to my DD when she was 4 (now 13). After multiple trips to the pediatrician who gave her acid reflux and enema meds (and while we waited for our appt with the pediatric gastroenterologist) I came on 2ps to ask for help. They nailed the diagnosis (that eventually came from the gastro Dr) in 5 minutes.

I just paid for a service call because, I thought my A/C was low on Freon. The first thing he said was lets look at the furnance (they share the same blower). He pulls out the filter and says "Here's your problem." I was using one of those fancy filters that is supposed to take out all the dust and allergins. Turns out it was just blocking too much of the airflow. He showed me what to buy on Amazon (MERV rating of 5 or lower). They are sold in a 12 pack and he said to replace them once a month. So that is what I will be doing from now on. I've never had duct work cleaned. I'm not seeing an MERV 5 or lower on Amazon. Can you link it here? Thank you!

Such tragedy in one thread My answer is maybe..... almost 8 years ago a classmate of ds (then 9) disappeared on Thanksgiving along with his 2 younger brothers. The dad is currently in prison charged with custodial interference and insists that he gave the boys to some underground group to keep them safe from their mother (who by all accounts wasn't a danger to them, but they were in the midst of a nasty divorce) but they're thought to be dead The dad was just weird, he was a cub scout leader when ds joined .....the only time ds ever asked to quit something and we let him (typically we'd make him finish the year/season), I couldn't put my finger on it on at the time my gut just told me the guy was off and so we let ds quit.....never been so happy to have listened to my gut in my life, that was a year or so before the disappearance. I think I know this story. So sad. So many unanswered questions.

It was just so strange from the get go so I can't say this comes as a complete shock. It's just weird to me when old people commit murder though. Ha ha, yes I agree with you on feeling that it's weird when old people commit murder. I think a couple things: 1) How did you make it this far in life and now ya blow it? 2) What else have you done and haven't gotten caught til now??

I absolutely second the SW Accessible Beige mentioned above. I'm pretty sure that's the color we are going with for our open floor plan that will get varying amounts of light depending on the room. It's a wonderful 'I want to try gray but don't want to regret it' gray.

Alrighty, with the help of this thread I'm figuring out what paint colors are truly calling to me, if that makes sense. I really like the french blue color suggestions some of you made. With blue being opposite on the color wheel from orange (honey oak), I feel like it will work. But the blues have to have grays in them to make them a bit more earthy.
I will try to post a picture of my paint chips but right now I'm looking at Sherwin Williams Silvermist, Quietude, and Comfort Gray as the front runners.

You all are amazing - all of your input is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you! Kristin, our cabinet shades are very similar. If you don't mind I would love to have the names of the paints. I am sitting among a sea of paint chips myself so I'm sure I have them to compare.
Earlier today I was really focused on SW Oyster Bar as it's a bit warmer than Accessible Beige. But now, I don't know if it will give that 'pop' I'm looking for. I do like SW Silvermist quite a bit but am concerned how it will look with a chair that we are about to order.
My biggest challenge is that we aren't in the house yet. We take possession August 8 (but may be able to be in as soon as Aug. 1). The painters arrive August 13 to paint the entire house. This is a dream come true and a nightmare all at once!
Keep any input and thoughts coming - this is a tremendously helpful conversation.
Jeremygirl - your kitchen is amazing. You have a great eye for color and pulling it all together.
Gennifer, some of the pics you shared remind me a lot of the Silvermist. I also like Oyster Bay. Sea Salt is what I have picked for 2 of the 3 bathrooms.

Thank you so much for the replies so far, ladies. I'm taking a fresh look at greiges and I also hadn't much considered warm whites. We have always loved SW Whole Wheat with our honey oak pergo in our current home and Antique White is on the same strip. Hmmmm.
Off to check out Crescent Cream...

paint would you choose? Our new home has an open floor plan and I'm struggling with what color to choose.I have spent hours on this and I am just ready to be done. My main concern is if I choose something like Softer Tan, Macadamia, or Accessible Beige, it will just be a sea of browns. But I'm nervous to pick something like Sea Salt or Silvermist for fear it will make the honey-colored oak stand out even more.
Can you offer me any suggestions as to what Sherwin Williams colors you love with oak, please?
P.S. Painting the trim is not an option right now.

Would you? Have you? Were you able to get the smell out entirely?
We walked through a home today and it has many great features with one huge negative: the owners have chain smoked here for 14 years. It reeks.
Doing a bit of internet research hasn't helped. Responses, amount of work/cost involved are all over the place. I am so afraid even with painting with a sealant and installing new carpet won't be enough. Some people on the internet are saying it may need gutted down to the studs! And a quote from Serve Pro for smoke removal is $15k!
Do any peas have experience with this? It's a great house in a great neighborhood, if not maybe a tad too small as well.

Should you decide to put him down, don't hold it against your husband. You have a family and this dog isn't a family dog. He just isn't a good fit for all of you and your lifestyle. It's really no one's fault.

I hadnt heard of Dirty John before last night's Dateline. During the show, reading between the lines, I got the impression the mom and daughters dont have much of a relationship today. There was no video of them together present day - all were filmed seperately. The mother spoke in a very distant and removed manner after was all said and done.
The only 'wrap-up, come full-circle' moments Dateline did were to take Tara to the scene of the attack. There were no 'and here are Tara and her mother together now' scenes.

Well I'm glad to see the Beacon's article doesn't describe the police as giving the husband an instant not-guilty pass. And this article makes rhe whole thing even fishier. I really think the husband is behind it - and not in a good way.

Sounds fishy. I swear, the older I get, the more I notice the word "elderly." There are lots of pretty vibrant 70 year olds out there. Do we have an elderly president? Is Hillary Clinton elderly? Meryl Streep? Steven Spielberg? My point (probably obscured in my tangent) is this man is just as likely to be a spry, body-hiding criminal as a befuddled old man. I suppose I chose to use word 'elderly' based on the possibility of the husband suffering from dementia. I dont typically think of young and vibrant people when I think of dementia. But I totally get what you are saying and agree the age 70 does not equal elderly behavior.

Whatever landline or cell phone was used would have a record of the call He didn't make a call. He saw an ambulance in a restaurant parking lot. I thought the same thing. Surely there is restaurant parking lot surveillance footage?

Oh my goodness! I think this is one of the oddest situations I've ever heard of. It seems odd to me that he would flag down an ambulance, leave his (dead???) wife with the EMTs and then return home. I would think that he would follow the ambulance to the hospital and that they would instruct him to do so. I hope that she's found, and soon. I can't begin to imagine how difficult this situation must be for the family. They don't know if they should be launching a missing person search or arranging a funeral. It is seriously baffling- what happened to her?!? And you are right...the poor family. Ugh.

Why didn't he follow the ambulance to the hospital or morgue? Wouldn't you? May be it was a 'fly-by-night'/private type ambulance? Yes! "Okay, you got this from here Mr. Paramedic? Good. I'm headed back to Ohio now." That doesn't even make sense!
