Very weird. Frankly, I am not sure I believe him. Who would turn around, drive home, and tell people she was dead if he was not sure, and did not accompany or drive behind to hospital/ coroner? Way too much that does not add up ... I agree - I'm not sure I believe him either and wonder why the police are so readily saying he's on tge up-and-up. Perhaps they know more about his memory issues than they are saying? And exactly - what ambulance company wouldnt keep a record? Andd if she was dead upon their arrival wouldn't a coroner have been called?

Here is the homemade treatment..ive never bothered with the acid or vinegar which are optional. I've always just used tap water too, not distilled. Xanthan gum is easy to find in the grocery store baking aisle. Its expensive but you get a lot and only use a little. The recipe makes a lot and is easy to pour into silicone molds for single portion uses but I've been known to just use the whole recipe at once. My method: shampoo with a clarifying shampoo, do the protein treatment, deep condition (i like Biolage Conditioning Balm or Sally's GVP brandl. science-yhairblog.blogspot.com/2014/04/gelatin-protein-treatment-recipe-update.html?m=1

I also have fine hair and have tons of it. I follow the curly girl method. Do a protein treatment. Seriously. I can link you up to an awesome homemade one (and I'm not one to usually go for homemade beauty products). Or for ready-made do a Joico K-pak treatment or there is one sold at Sally Beauty Supply as well www.sallybeauty.com/colorful-neutal-protein-filler/SBS-636100,default,pd.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=1o1&scid=scplpSBS-636100&sc_intid=SBS-636100&utm_content=SBS-636100&gclid=CjwKCAiA693RBRAwEiwALCc3uzQ7ml5Tz7od4rud5Dj9iJ__wol7WTjN7Iey8wQQMlcTOfQqDYnw-xoCSNwQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds. I can totally tell, especially in the winter, if I skip doing a weekly treatment. (The homemade treatment gets longer lasting results, IMO)

Thank you all for the input so far. She called her doctor's office again and they told her to come in. It seems to be getting worse and she's nearing what should be the normal end to her period cycle. She is reading your responses - I'll keep you updated and if she has any questions. Thank you again.

I'm asking on behalf of my sister who is 35. Last week she was in the hospital for a yet-to-be officially diagnosed blood clotting disorder and was put on the blood thinner Xarelto.
This week she is having her period and the amount of blood is alarming. She has called her doctor and they don't seem concerned but getting through her days and nights is difficult with the "mess."
Do any Peas have experience with this or suggestions?
She is at a healthy weight, non-smoking, and does not take birth control. Currently she is on a 3 week loading dose of Xarelto but then will go to 10mg less of it.

We used the advice we read in our puppy training book and had great success with it.
The book explained that when puppies nip at mama dog she uses her nose to press the puppy by the neck firmly but gently to the floor. She holds them like this until she feels their body weaken or "give in" to the firmness. This tells the puppy they are not boss and their behavior was not acceptable. For our dog, it never took more than 10 seconds before we'd feel his body give in.
Worked like a charm for us when we combined it with a firm "No."

Oh ha ha, just read your post above. Get tested for Celiac. It's becoming more standard for doctors to do so. Your symptoms sound like so many I've read over the years. And don't just settle for a blood test if the results from that are negative. The blood test is know for having a high rate of false negatives. The gold standard diagnosis is an upper endoscopy.
ETA: On a side note about our 2Ps Celiac expereience: It was six years ago on the old board that I posted in a desperate plea to please 'diagnose my daughter.' She was 5 at the time and withering away before our eyes.
I described her symptoms and immediately several peas said "Celiac?" We had been to doctors for months and they kept prescribing Zantac. Thanks to the Peas three days later we were at the pediatric gastroenterologist's office and started the steps toward her Celiac diagnosis.
DD turns 11 on Friday and is a happy, bright, and active girl. I will be forever thankful to those peas who responded that day.

I haven't read all the replies but have you or your doctors looked in to the possibility of Celiac disease? My daughter has it.
Prayers for you. Hang in there, undoubtedly there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

She could buy So delicious whipped cream which is vegan. You can make whipped cream from a package of full fat coconut milk by refrigerating it. As a vegetarian there would be no way I'd want to touch a package of meat, it's sheer and I can see the blood through it which often leaks onto the conveyor belt. But a product in a container, like soup or pasta sauce, I don't have an issue. I like Truwhip as an alternative to Coolwhip as it has better ingredients. [/quote Not vegan or vegetarian but the meat packages gross me out too. Right?! It's the year two thousand and sixteen and we still sell meat in leaky packages? Such an odd thing to for go. I'm sorry OP. I'm sure it didn't help that your DD served up a double whammy in that your request was something for her brother as he prepares to leave home. Salt on the wound. Hugs.

June is national dairy month and I'm gathering up recipes where dairy is featured. Do any of you have tried and true ones?
Thank you!

Nope...grew up with them as my dad was a LEO, but DH and I never felt the need to own one. I briefly wondered why your dad's astrological sign played a part in his gun ownership. Must get more coffee.

It's a weekly newspaper geared toward farming but is nearby a large city. Before the recipes the writer is able to include some personal commentary as a lead in.
Thank you!

I would think of it as a compliment I would also, but I enjoy that type of humor.

I think there are negative connotations to it. Why not just say he has a terrific sense of humor? Readers are unlikely to meet him. It's not an ad. Humor is subjective, anyway. Good thought on just using the word "terrific." And you're very right, humor is subjective. Maybe that's why I'm struggling with how to "capture" him AND leaving my opinion out of it.

I'm writing an article for our local newspaper about a couple celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. They were pleasure to interview . . . both able bodied and sharp as tacks. They seemed very much in their 60s and not their late 80s. Anyhow . . .
His quick wit and dry sense of humor were very very funny and I want to mention that in my opening sentence. However I want to be sure having a "dry sense of humor" is viewed as being a compliment, an endearing thing, not as a negative.
What do you all think? And if you think it's a negative do you have another suggestion?
Thank you so much!

I remember my parents doing this when I was growing up. In the winter it would be cake and coffee. In the summertime, it might be homemade ice cream and drinks. It would be my preferred way to entertain, but finding enough people to come who haven't sworn off dessert, sugar, wheat, etc., etc. is a problem. In fact, I've just about quit entertaining due to all the dietary requirements I get hit with. Yeah at this point they become anti-social and I say screw it, stay home. I put out cheese and crackers to go with the sweets, other than that it is a dessert party, I am not catering to anybody's diet. As a mom to a 10 yo child with Celiac disease it saddens me to hear this attitude. It's not her fault she can't eat gluten and for that you ladies are saying she's anti-social and not worth the time and effort to get to know or be included. Ouch to my mommy heart.

I'm considering an iPod touch for ds10 for Christmas. I might consider a phone at age 13 if the was a need for it. Have you looked at the GB options? Any suggestions for me there?

Thank you for the feedback and input so far.
In our area we arent hindering her social life much at this age without a smartphone. Thank you for the reminder that that is a factor.
I'm thinking the ipod Touch is the right choice for her/us.

What would you do? Laugh? Get it? Consider an ipod Touch instead? This is unchartered territory for us! DH and I have Samsung Galaxy phones and Android tablets. I've never owned a "i" anything product lol. Does it make better sense for her to get Android because of that? Another option would be to give her mine and I get a new phone but that may be lame to give her a used gift for Christmas. She'll be in middle school next year and is a responsible kid but I don't know...an iphone?! Or am I being funny duddy?

I'm curious what the preferences are for using butter, lard, or shortening in pie crusts. What do you think works best?
