I use a mattress cover (with a fitted sheet on top of the cover) and wash it about once every month or two. The sheets I wash once or twice a week. I call that good!

I use Costco brand - Kirkland Signature Moisture Conditioner. It is under $10.00 for a big bottle. The bottle says it is color safe with UV protectants, sulfate free, 100% vegan, paraben free and gluten free. It is very thick but it rinses out. It is a great detangler and really puts the moisture in my hair. I don't get static in it. I have highlighted hair.

My oldest dd is at GOTR right now! This is her second year and she loves it. She is not a big runner but you don't really have to be to participate. You all are getting a bargain. Our GOTR is $160.00 plus a $20 - $30 fee for the adult that accompanies them on the run. Each girl has to have one adult with them on the 5K. My sister will go with my DD as she loves to run (marathons). I feel bad asking her to pay the fee so we end up paying it. In the end, it will cost $180.00. They also ask that each girl funraises.

I'm glad to hear she is coming back. I was wondering the same thing about her blog. She usually has great guest designers but I'm sure even that takes time for her to arrange, edit, post, etc.

The pea whose daughter was diagnosed with PANDAS? Thanks for asking about us. I would say that she is about 90% recovered. She still can't verbalize emotion at all and often wakes up thinking there are spiders everywhere around her. We are day 3 into a 5 day steroid burst and we are hoping it helps get our little girl fully back. The day that she's able to tell me she loves me again will be the happiest day of my life! I'll update my post at the end of the month when we have our 6 week follow up at the PANDAS clinic at Stanford. The support I got here got me through a few really dark days. Thanks for the update. I hope things keep getting better for your daughter.

Ok I have lots to say about this episode but am in a dead run all day today and will have to check back tonight on this thread, but I just realized I don't remember seeing Gabriel last night…did I just miss him because he didn't have any speaking parts? I'd like to see his interview with biotch Deanna… I saw him in the beginning of the show when the group was standing outside the gates getting ready to enter for the first time. He was in the back of the group. He had no speaking parts (that I know of).

I have 36 passwords. I have an insane system of keeping them. I write them down on a piece of notebook paper and then stuff it in a pile of my girls' artwork and old school papers. Silly, I know.

I am going to be judgey about something entirely different from your purse question (which, although I have NEVER understood the designer purse thing, I totally encourage you to treat yourself to) The number one rule in personal finance is not to shortchange your retirement fund by overextending yourself for your children's college. They can borrow money now and have a lifetime to pay it off. I don't see you mention in your post that you contribute a nice hunk of your salary to 401(k) or something. I hope you are taking care of your own future as well. I completely agree with the above post. Can your children contribute more to their college costs? If you are not fully funding a 401(k) or other retirement account, you really should think about it. Do you have an emergency fund of 6 to 8 months? There is no way I would purchase a "want" without having an emergency fund set-up and funded. For me, it would be irresponsible to not have an emergency stash of money. The peace of mind (for me) far outweighs a material want. I guess I'm a kill-joy. I am still using the same Coach purse that my sister bought me 8 years ago. I use it every, single, day. The only other purse I have to use is a small vintage purse I bought for $5.00 about 16 years ago. I only use it when I go out for the evening.

I agree with MerryMom that if rain is predicted, have them put the tent up early. I was a bridesmaid at one wedding where the reception was in a tent and it had rained off and on the day before and the day of. The ground was soggy and then became muddy. The guests had to go out in the rain to get to the restroom. Even though there were sides to the tent everything felt damp. The other tent wedding I went to there were no sides, no heaters and it was freezing. People were eating while wearing their coats. I couldn't wait to leave that reception.

Enabler alert . I'm also adding this tip I posted previously on another thread, in case any of you are daily deal stalkers like me: Here's a Peachy Cheap tip that I discovered accidentally. They have past deals on clearance if you go to peachycheap.com/shop. I was happy to find something I was sorry I missed the first time around. Thank you so much for posting this! I too found something that I missed the first time. I'm so glad that you passed this information along. Thanks again!

My girls didn't have school today due to the extreme cold and snow. They are bored and jumping on my bed. I'm downstairs so I guess I have to get up and go upstairs to demand they stop.

My sister had problems due to long term medication and would drink a small glass of prune juice in the morning. That would usually get her moving. You can buy it canned or bottled. And the usual. I always told my kids to drink lots of water and eat lots of fruit and veggies. This is not a problem I've ever suffered from so I'm not any kind of expert. When my daughter had trouble with constipation, I gave her prune juice. She didn't like it straight up but would drink it mixed with grape juice and ice. She also ate prunes (I think they were Sunsweet ones, each one was individually wrapped in plastic). She thought they were candy! In addition, I gave her Miralax. She also increased her fruits, veggies and water intake. It took some months but she went from going once a week to once a day. My daughter never used them, but there are over-the-counter glycerin suppositories which also include a laxative ingredient. Ask your pharmacist about them.

The times I've forgotten to leave money -- which I always remembered the minute the kids woke up -- I told the kids their room was too messy to find the tooth and the TF left the money somewhere else in the house Then I scrambled to find a buck and a hiding place while the kids were searching the house. TF was fond of the basement, as I recall. Coincidentally, I'd have to go down there to get something from the basement fridge to make breakfast/school lunches. It was a simple matter to leave a dollar on the Lego table (pile of blocks, random Transformer dude) as I walked by. The kids left their teeth in little containers we made when each was a toddler. We just covered a random (lidded) container with stickers, glitter glue, and whatever and put their name on it. When not in use, the container sits on a bookshelf. The teeth stay in it because my kids like seeing all their old teeth. (The TF knows when a new one was added.) When I was really on my game and remembered, the dollar was left on the bookshelf next to the container. My older kids are done and the containers full of baby teeth are in a tote with their high school yearbooks and other stuff I'm sure I'll be storing for them for the next 10 years. Your story of forgetting and telling the kids the fairy left the money somewhere else in the house made me laugh! What a cute idea of putting the teeth in a decorated container. I'm sure you kids will have fond memories of the tooth fairy. I had a wisdom tooth pulled a few months ago and when I did my 6 year old thought I was crazy for not keeping it and putting it under my pillow.

My youngest had the tooth fairy visit last night! We had a snow storm and our dd didn't want the fairy out in the cold snow. She was afraid she would be cold. We told her the fairy would be ok, that she is used to it. Our fairy leaves five dollars for the two front upper teeth and one dollar for all the others. My oldest swallowed a tooth while eating a soft pretzel. She freaked out and cried and cried. I told her the fairy would know and still visit. My daughter left a note to the fairy explaining the lack of a tooth under her pillow. She did it again (although with a brownie) for the next tooth. We have the girls use a baggie for the tooth.

I think the person should just ask to be moved or look away. I had gestational diabetes with each of my three girls. I shared a large open area with a co-worker but the way our desks were positioned, our backs were to each other. I didn't want to go to the restroom to test because my supervisor would keep track of where we were, how long we were gone and how many times we were gone. Yeah, control freak. The restroom was pretty far away too. I never had to do the shots.

I have a small shoe box of love letters that my grandparents wrote to each other. They are very sweet! I never knew my grandfather as he passed away when I was 6 months old but the letters help me understand him a little. You should keep them! I have to add that I live in a very small house but I find room for small sentimental things.

My girls and I were at the zoo this past summer and some entitled woman brought her dog to the zoo. She got it past the front gate and then took the service vest off the dog. She had it in her hand. The dog was obviously not a sevice dog as it barked and barked at the monkeys. It then scared the heck out of my youngest because it was jumping up and down. After that it went up to a toddler in a stroller and stuck its nose on the kid's face. Of course the kid starts screaming. It was a small scene going on. Security was on it in no time! She saw them coming and took off. Of course they followed her but I'm not sure what happened after that as they went out of my sight. No way was it a trained dog. True service dogs I understand. The owners of the fake ones are jerks.

Gennifer, beautiful floors! What type of sealant did you have to apply? I've never heard of that for tile flooring. We did a sealant so the grout wouldn't stain, but with as dark as it is, I'm not sure it was even necessary. That was smart to make the grout dark. The flooring will look great for years to come. Aren't you the pea with the beautiful display of nail polish? My daughter wanted to move in with you when she saw that picture. Now I want to move in with you! We're packing our bags! Seriously, your kitchen is beautiful. I'm sure the bathroom is just as beautiful.

I have photos on DVDs and I could not throw them away. I don't have them stored on an external hard drive but even if I did I couldldn't and wouldn't throw them away. I live in a small house with a dh and three kids and I still manage to find the space for them.

The outside looks just as beautiful as the inside. I'd love to have that view of the falls. Since all the leaves are off the trees, all I see from my back window are ugly apartments (although it's beautiful when the trees have leaves and cover up the view of the apartments).
Please keep us updated. I hope you find the peace you are seeking. I have no doubt that you will make your next home just as beautiful for yourself and daughter. You are going in the right direction.

Try working with these people day in and day out. I'm a Realtor. Welcome to 12 hours out of every day of my life, LOL! I'm glad you posted this because I've always thought that maybe the shows on HGTV pumped up the pickiness of buyers. Between your post and my sister's experience, I guess picky buyers are more the norm than the exception. My sister had trouble selling her house. It was in a great area of the city and priced right but the feedback she got was that there were no granite counter tops and no stainless steel. She had the kitchen re-done with granite and stainless and poof it sold to a young couple. She said it hurt a little because she was in her 50s when she sold and had never had such a nice kitchen! It's okay to be picky about things that can't easily be changed. It's hard to make a ranch a two story. You can't add yard space if a big yard is what you want. But I'm always amazed that people can't look past paint colors and appliances. Heck, when I bought my house it had an awful mustard yellow stove and avocado green fridge. No biggie, I bought new ones. I also changed the cabinets and wall paint. There was horrible wallpaper in one room. Again, not a big deal to change it.

We are looking into a system for my 84 year-old mom. She lives in a small community and I called the police department and asked if they keep copies of resident keys. They said yes so we had a copy made and put it in the police key file. If she should fall, they will have an easy and quick way to get into her house.

I went out to lunch with a friend. She picked the restaurant (not one that I really wanted to go to but ok I didn't mind). She spent a good part of the time texting with her husband. I should have just gone to a different restaurant and had lunch by myself. On her end she probably didn't see it as rude. On my end I did.
My husband will occasionally drop a conversation at dinner and take a text or call. Drives my kids crazy (they do not have phones and are 13, 8 and 6). It drives me crazy too. He has gotten much better and I will give him credit for that!

There is a reason why most family restaurants have crayons and placemats with images to color! I see no problem with keeping a child busy with paper, crayons, books etc. As long as the entertainment is quiet.
