As a fellow perfectionist, I suggest a different approach/mindset. Scrapbooking is a hobby, your "perfect hobby," so enjoy & have fun with it rather than be concerned about "not much to show for my 20+ years of scrapbooking." I exclusively scrapbook & choose not to participate in classes/design teams/crops/retreats/conventions, create gift albums/cards/special projects (e.g. One Little Word, Day/Week in the Life, December Daily/Journal Your Christmas), or have any actual deadlines. Due to my perfectionist tendencies, I'm a painstakingly S-L-O-W scrapper who will rework & quit/restart as much as necessary to be completely satisfied with each step in the process. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to complete a layout & I'm woefully behind but content with the end results (& never redo a completed layout). It's not a marathon &, like with everything, interest in hobbies ebbs & flows. HTH.

Thanks for your responses. My favorites in 2023 are the same as prior years - classic patterned papers & non-themed embellishments, often created with tools (e.g. stamps, punches, dies, stencils). Looking forward to scrapping in 2024...

Thanks for your responses. As reflected in my (lack of) spending over the last few years, I'm frustrated with the stereotypical feminine & floral domination of the industry (& the few exceptions often having an odd yellow-dominant color palette that is equally unusable for me). Hoping the industry gets out of its feminine/floral rut during 2024 (although not off to a good start, since recent releases appear to be more of the same...ugh)!

Thanks for your responses. I don't gravitate toward this aesthetic, scene or photorealistic papers, detail/fussy cutting, chipboard, or (overpriced) patterned vellum. Therefore, nothing from this release is added to my wish list.

I have had two PB Studio Bookshlef Ladders (in now-discontinued black finish) in my craft room for ~15 years & highly recommend them for storing supplies. While I don't use them to house scrapbooks, IMHO the lower shelves would work well for that purpose. Hope you find the ideal solution for your space.

Per ACOT ( see here), Ranger/Tim Holtz is expected to release a new Distress color on Saturday, 1/13. What color do you prefer &/or predict will be added? *UPDATE: In celebration of the 20th year of the Distress line that started with a brown, the final new color is Scorched Timber (link to ACOT), "a smoldering deep, dark brown with charred undertones" (see video posted by joblackford ). Thoughts? What's on your wish list?

I didn't buy very much at all, probably the least I've bought for a very long time! My spending usually decreases in the last quarter of the year anyway. This is mainly because the vast majority of the digital kits are Halloween and Thanksgiving based, and we don't celebrate either of those things here. (Well, Halloween is becoming more popular, but my kids are grown now.) And then the Christmas kits tend to be drab or traditional Christmas colours that don't suit my summer Christmas photos. I guess I should be thankful, because it saves me money at this time of year! Given the 4th quarter has ended & considering all the money you've saved, you can now resume spending guilt-free in the new year!

... I received a scrapbook dot com gift card for Christmas but there is nothing I really want or need right now. I will save it for when I see a new collection or tool I really want. It will be welcomed when you identify that must-have collection/tool. See you in the new release threads!

Note the list is comprised of papercrafting items that might have been favorites just to jumpstart the discussion. Posters can share their favorite for each, pick & choose the ones that were favorites, name a favorite from a category not listed, or whatever they please. There are no rules, just fun!

See links & discussion of Photoplay - December release HERE. Only the creative director(s) at the manufacturers can answer your questions. Unfortunately, they must not read &/or heed the free customer feedback posted here that could result in increased sales. It seems there are several solutions to offer both stereotypical & non-gendered options so users could mix/match pattern papers/embellishments/sentiments.

Thanks for your responses. I'm not the target audience of American Crafts pattern paper collections & especially dislike the cheap acrylic stamps, ink cubes, die sets, overabundance of florals, color palettes, gold accents, outdated/old-fashioned aesthetic, etc. of this release.

Thanks for your responses. While Reminisce usually offers unique designs, these collections are similiar to the same themes from other manufacturers in color palettes, patterns, icons, etc. Since I also avoid papers with a glossy finish, nothing from this release is added to my wish list.

I exclusively incorporate stamping into scrapping, am a basic stamper (no layered stamping, etc.), don't stamp on every layout, & prefer wood-mounted rubber stamps. I have & use the WRMK Precision Press in mini, Advanced/regular, & 12x12 (all purchased on clearance for less than $25 total!) with my relatively few photopolymer stamps. It provides even pressure, a better impression, & the ability to reink/restamp multiple times to darken the image as needed, making photopolymer stamps more usable for me. Best wishes with your search; hope you find one that works for you.

Thanks for your responses. Per the collection descriptions, "Birthday Bash/Sparkle is a celebration made for the (adult) guys/gals!" The word "dude" is littered throughout the sticker sheet, ephemera, & stamp set of Bash, while "girl" appears only once (on the sticker sheet) in Sparkle. I like the color palette & most of the non-themed pattern papers in Bash but have similar in my existing inventory. Nothing from this release is added to my wish list.

It's cute, but it's not a theme I would use. Note the link is to three collections with New Year, St. Patrick's Day, & Valentine's Day themes. HTH.

Bumping this thread as I've narrowed it down to the Silhouette 3 and the brand new 4. Anybody got an opinion? From what I understand, the main differences are the sizes (full US letter format for the 4 but it does mean only being able to use the special Portrait 4 mat) and the repeat button. Did I miss something else? If you are referring to the Silhouette Portrait, see the Product Overview, What's Included, & Tech Specs (bottom of page) for the Portrait 3 & Portrait 4 to compare them. For clarity, the Electrostatic Mat is not required. This optional accessory is an alternative to an adhesive mat only for cutting delicate materials. Therefore, users who don’t (often) cut thin materials won't need to spend the extra $100! HTH.
