I loved hiking up in northern MN a couple of summers ago. I want to do more, but I've never had the time to look for places to go around here. I did get to try snowshoeing a couple of years ago when I got to chaperone a field trip to a nature reserve in the middle of February--it had snowed a few days prior and the conditions were perfect. I almost bought some snowshoes for DS & I a few days later because we both enjoyed it so much. Maybe now that I'm down to one job and the boys don't have weekend activities like they used to we can do some more outdoorsy things.

My new laptop arrived on Monday, on my birthday! I've even been able to figure things out and get stuff set up on my own (I'm not computer illiterate, but not very savvy either...). It's so nice not having to share the family laptop anymore, especially since that one is 15" and mine is 17".
My other happy is that my boys are both getting settled into school quite well. DS12 is still slow when doing schoolwork, but is able to do more and more on his own (I just need to remind him to stay on task periodically). DS15's district finally figured out a Return to Learn plan that meets the state's guidelines, so now we know his plan/routine at least through mid-January (not sure how the 2nd semester will work). He'll be home doing online learning until then, but at least he now has a better set up for doing his classes because we bought a 24" monitor--it's great for both boys to hook up their Chromebooks too. It's been a long first 4-6 weeks of school, but we're finally in a good place!
My other happy is that I found a box of canning lids the other day!!! Now we will be able to can the rest of the beets in the garden!

I've never felt the need to carry a knife, probably because I use my keys for opening boxes, not to mention DH carries a pocketknife. I'm too afraid of cutting myself or something I'm not supposed to cut so I don't use his knife unless absolutely necessary.
If I were to want a knife, I would probably like the yellow one, but without the words. I really like that pattern and color palette. I am not a fan of pink camo so if I did want a knife I would want one like the yellow one, that is obviously mine, not for the guys.

I'm curious too--DH had to change the hose on our kitchen faucet a few weeks ago and ever since the hot was has very little pressure.

Officially, no. My 12yo isn't half bad if he's willing to use all of his fingers (when he is in a bad mood he hunts & pecks, sometimes very forcibly).
My 15 didn't sound too bad the other day when I was in the same room during one of his classes. I couldn't see him when he was typing, but it sounded good. I've never seen him sit down and type so I was a little surprised.

We have our usual pumpkins & small gourds from the local Apple orchard on our stoop. I should get the rest of my tiny Halloween collection out, but that usually doesn't happen until right before Halloween. Our city hasn't officially decided about allowing trick or treating yet (and our neighborhood Facebook group is hotly divided over it) but I'll still do something outside because its fun & easy to decorate for.

It's October!!! ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/cheer.jpg.gif) My Huskers play at Ohio State in 23 days! In the meantime I have to settle for watching the almost daily promo videos that the team/athletic department put out...in two of them it's been very easy to spot my nephew...so cool!

Man, they really puked the pink all over the October kit! 🤮 I like pink fine enough, but there is nothing seasonally appropriate about that color pallet. Goodness sakes, the early spring kits were all warm and drab neutrals and now fall is pastel and bright? No thanks. Yup. I forgot to cancel my Color Theory Kit I started last month during the BOGO special, so I was at least looking forward to being able to add some embellishments from the other kits to my box...blech... I did get the Back to School/Hybrid/Online stamp set because it seems really usable for what my 12yo had to do last spring and what my 15yo is doing now.

I started using Stitch Fix last winter when I went from a gym day care job to an office job & didn't have a lot of non-gym clothes options. I really like it (even if some of the prices are a little high). I've bought a few shirts that I would have sent back except that it was cheaper to keep them because of the whole box discount--and those have turned out to be ones I wear a lot. It was great having it this spring/summer when stores were closed.

Good tips--I really want a second fridge, but at this point we should just wait for possible holiday sale prices (not to mention I just had to replace my laptop...)
No, I won't pay extra for a specific color. I like white appliances & am happy to pay a lower price for them. Of course the downside is that anything not stainless steel will usually require a special order these days...that scares me with the age of our fridge!

As a football mom whose son can't play because his district has refused to comply with state law, I'm happy to vote & so happy he had a great return to the game. Best of luck to Evan during the rest of the season!

Ours are just opening, this week maybe? They are doing the book quarantine too and will continue to do curbside for the time being. There will be limited hours and each visitor is limited to a certain amount of time for either browsing or using a public computer--I'm not sure how that will be enforced, maybe just be on the honor system for browsing? I don't get books any more as I prefer e-books, but it will be nice to have the option for DS since he's finally, maybe, getting back into reading books...

I'm surprised ours is only a year old--there's a yard sign for a fundraiser at DS's school that was held last year. Not surprisingly, you can barely see our house because of the tree in the front yard; it's a good view of the houses next door though. I can also tell what day of the week it was taken because I can see our recycling trash can behind the neighbor's car that's parked on the street.

I have a really good one that is about 30 minutes away from my house, but it's now 5 minutes away from where I work! I still don't get there very often (Hello huge stash...) but when I need something it's pretty convenient now.

I would definitely start looking now. I had to replace my HP a couple of weeks ago because it all of a sudden died on me in the middle of the day. I found that I either had to customize a new one and wait almost a month to get it, or take what I could get elsewhere. So many PC laptops were sold out everywhere that I looked. I can only assume it's the same for Macs since there are so many people buying new or upgrading because of working or learning from home (one of the larger districts in our metro area just bought new ipads or Macs for every student in the district on the assumption that they'd have to switch from in-person to online learning at some point during this school year.)

My procrastination finally paid off! Last December we signed DS up for a school trip to Germany in March 2021. We intended to get his passport over Spring break, but Covid. We forgot/put it off all summer and earlier this week I decided today would be the day...But I never got around to making the appointment at the post office. Then tonight we got an email from his German teacher that she had decided to postpone the trip until March 2022. So now we have more time to get it done (and for DH & I to find our birth certificates to get passports too) before his trip, without having wasted 2 years of the life of his youth passport before it gets used. Bonus good news is that now we don't have to worry about whether or not the trip will happen this year, now we know.

Red licorice (normal regular Twizzlers) yes, black anise ones... ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/sick.jpg.gif) DH likes some anise flavored cookies that his mom makes at Christmas time, so he might like black licorice. But I can't see him eating that much.

My boys are too old for TorT, but if they were younger we'd still be going out like normal. We'll have our light on and will hand out candy, but we don't live in a neighborhood with a lot of TofT traffic. I don't see if as a risky endeavor...then again we spent our summer going to baseball games, amusement parks and the Wisconsin Dells (without masks for the most part) and we've never gotten sick...

For the reduced price, how many are signing up for AE’s Product Play? Or are you waiting to see other’s opinions before signing up? I decided to try it out. Apparently I've never done the DD product play classes before, but since I don't make foundation pages I'm not surprised. The previous themes never made me want to sign up, but texture & transparencies intrigue me.

I fish mine out of my purse put it on as I'm walking into whatever building I'm going into. Usually it comes off as soon as I get back outside.
I've never even thought to wear one while getting gas because usually it's not that busy.
I rarely go thru drivethrus any more, but when I do get something via curbside I don't put my mask on (wouldn't in a drive thru either).

Now that my Huskers are going to get to play next month (you're welcome to everyone who wanted the Big 10 to play...) I'm a little more excited about college football. Now I just need to figure out if "family only" for spectators means immediate family or if it includes some extended family...asking as an aunt of a player...But I'm guessing it's just immediate family...

In A Creative Bubble has some great themed sets, but a lot seem to focus on travel or Christmas. They are easy to print as is or to change/edit to what you want if you have Photoshop (not always, but sometimes).
Echo Park and Simple Stories have a lot of themed lines that include 12x12 sheets that can be cut apart.

I wish I knew...this week has sucked with rainy cold weather, public school drama (a superintendent & school board who refuse to comply with state laws regarding in-person learning) no HS football game because of the drama, weekend homework for DS, and my laptop died unexpectedly ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/crying.jpg.gif) I should just sequester myself at my scrapbooking desk all weekend (although I need my laptop for some things) but maybe that might bring me some joy...I'm going to try to find some joy, I promise!

My 15yo started online learning on Tuesday. He has 4 classes this quarter--AP Physics, AP US History, band and intro to Wood Construction...really not sure how the last two will work if they don't switch to a hybrid plan. They most likely will (yay!) because they are not allowed to force the entire district to do online learning so the time spent "in" class might not even count. The district and the state have been having a pissing match about control since mid-July and sadly it's the kids that are getting peed on. The 70% who chose a hybrid plan are being forced online and now no one is allowed to do any activities (sports, marching band, or anything that's not a class). Online learning was always an option for anyone who wanted it, but the district decided to force everyone online. Districts can apply for a waiver to switch to online learning for two weeks if certain criteria are met (positivity rates, absenteeism rates, etc.) but they are not allowing any district to start 100% online. Our district sued and was denied an emergency injunction to allow online learning, but as of right now are sticking with online learning.
It is all so very confusing and frustrating--and now I'm stuck with a moody teenager who is stuck at home all day long and can't play football. High schoolers are doing 3-4 classes a quarter during this first semester. So losing the first couple of days to "settling in" with online learning is cutting into their time and the fact that they have one quarter to do a semester's worth of work. They can't do anything real with the wood class and so far (according to him) they haven't actually learned anything in Physics...oh, and band was optional today...!?!

A lot of high schools around here use gaitors (not sure how you spell it) because then the kids don't have to take them off, just slide up and down.

My 12yo is back in school 5 days like normal and so far so good! They don't have to wear masks all day long, just whenever they are moving. They pretty much stay in their room all day long and the teachers change rooms. My biggest worry is that they eat in their classroom and they get to watch a movie--my ADHD son admits he gets distracted and doesn't eat much some days, but we need him to because he's normally not very hungry on his meds. The school had to change how drop off and pick up was done (to keep the age groups separated) and it was going great until 4 days into the year the city decided to do a 6 week long road work project out front...seriously, you had all summer (plus mid-March to the end of May) to do a project in front of a school and you wait until the school starts back up??? It's still going ok, but it's just frustrating.
Really wish I could say how my 15yo is doing, but his district is 100% online, illegally though. They don't have permission from the state to be 100% online so it's possible that the days don't count. They may be forced to do a hybrid plan which is fine with me because he wants to be in school (and play sports which can't happen if the district is online).

We're heading to Nebraska to see family for the first time since Christmas! We'll be hanging out at my Dad's lake on Sunday--it's going to be almost 100* and there's no place I'd rather be on a hot day. We wanted to go over the 4th of July weekend, but we also didn't want to risk anything since DS was in the middle of his baseball season. I wish we were worrying about his football season, but for now that's on hold because the district insists on starting school online and the state says any district online can't do activities... So we're going. I also want to go because I don't think I've ever NOT gone out to the lake during the summer in my 44 years of life (maybe in 1998 because we got married in mid-May and I moved to DC where DH was living).

A friend of mine does SU and hosts a monthly get-together that I attend so I have to buy something each month. Every year I think I'm going to stop going because I sometimes struggle with what to purchase, but it's fun to get together.
I only buy CM once a year. The one remaining crop I go to is hosted by a gal that sells CM (but mostly for personal/family use and because of this one crop). Some years I buy more than other years, but I don't feel obligated to buy anything just because she hosts the crop. CM has very little that is useful for me.

I've had a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet for several years now, switched to it when I started having issues with a Nook. It's been a great tablet, I even got one for my youngest son when he needed something better than his Nook, but wasn't ready for a phone. My only complaint has been the storage size, but a lot of the newer ones I've seen are much bigger (mine is 16gb plus an SD card, new ones are 32-128.) I almost bought a new one when they were on sale at Sam's, but I really don't need to replace mine yet.
