Our closest international airport is Dallas. However, whenever we fly internationally, we always start in Oklahoma City and connect with another airport where our international flight originates. Depending on where we are going and what airline we are flying, our connection could be New York, Houston, Chicago, Boston, etc.

Since you are equally impressed w/ both realtors, I would go w/ the realtor who lives in your neighborhood.
I would think she would be the most motivated to sell your house quickly and for a good price. I shy away from mixing business and pleasure, but it wouldn’t bother me at all to use a realtor who lived in my neighborhood.

We live about 25 minutes away from Will Rogers Airport which is a regional airport with direct connections to many major cities in the U.S., but there are no international flights out of Will Rogers. When we lived in Texas we were about 25 minutes from IAH and could fly direct to just about anywhere in the world which was nice. I miss being close to an international airport, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me.
Interesting fact:: Oklahoma City has two air ports- Will Rogers Airport and Wiley Post Airport. Will Rogers and Wiley Post both died in the same air plane crash in Alaska. It really doesn’t bother people much in Oklahoma City that both airports are named after men who perished in airplane crashes.

I just started Fury, but it it isn’t getting much love on here. I’m on the wait list for this book. I heard the author interviewed on NPR and it sounded like a great plot. We all have different tastes, and if one Pea didn’t like it, I’d still give it a go. However, when i see multiple bad reviews on this thread it makes me think I shouldn’t waste my time.

I saw the movie w/ my husband as soon as it came out. We both enjoyed it. I love historical dramas, so it wasn't surprising that I enjoyed it. My husband is not as big of a fan of historical dramas, but he enjoyed this one.
I don't remember thinking that the sex scenes were particularly graphic or gratuitous. My husband didn't mention it and he can be a bit of a prude at times.
My best friend had a discussion about why Truman was so outraged when Oppenheimer expressed concerns about the decision to employ the bomb in WWII. I always think that is a sign of a good movie when you are discussing why a character said this or did that after you've seen the movie.
I always read books aloud when my husband and I go on long road trips. We just happened to have started reading David McCoullough's biography of Harry Truman shortly before we saw Oppenheimer. We got to the part where Oppenheimer met w/ Truman at the White House a few weeks after we saw the movie. The meeting in the book played out exactly as it went in the movie.

I listened to Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wiler by Caroline Fraser, a book which won the Pulitzer Prize for nonfiction in 2018. I thought it was fascinating.
The book told about the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder and about life on the prairie in general. Life was harder for the Ingalls’ family and American homesteaders in general than the picture painted by Ingalls in her Little House books. It’s not surprising that Ingalls left a lot of the grittier details about prairie life out of her books given that she was writing about her own family and targeting a juvenile audience.
The book also covered the life of the Ingalls only surviving child, Rose Ingalls Wilder, who had a complicated, but closerelationship with her parents. Rose was a famous writer in her own right and without her knowledge of the publishing world Laura might never have taken up writing. Rose edited her mother’s work and provided other valuable input.
Rose was a very complicated personality. She would quickly form bonds with strangers, often going so far as unofficially “adopting” young men she met on her travels. She’d support them for a few years and then loose touch with them. She’d give her parents money and then turn around and borrow from them. She had strong right wing political views.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone who loves biographies and/or American history. I would also recommend it for anyone who loves the Little House books (as I do), but only if you are willing to accept that frontier life might have been a little more complicated than portrayed in the books.

I’m so sorry you lost your scrapbooks. I would be sad, frustrated and angry all at the same time.
I think you are wise to take some time and think about whether you want to keep scrapping or whether you want to spend your free time doing something else.
I gave up scrapbooking a few years’ ago and started doing an annual family album using the Project life app. I found that what I really enjoyed was writing about our family activities, which I was able to do with the Project Life App. (If I had been a talented scrapper, I probably would have missed scrapping the old fashioned way!)
I think you should give yourself some time to decide whether you want to jump right back in, or scale back a little or give up scrapbooking all together. There’s really no right or wrong answer. You can always change your mind again later if you decide to go in a different direction.

I picked Tampa Bay over Detroit. Baker Mayfield loves going into a game as the underdog. And Detroit loves being underestimated! I don’t think anyone was underestimating the Lions going into this game. Every pundit I follow had them favored to win. I was hoping Baker could pull off the upset, but it didn’t happen. Congrats to the Lions! They played a great game!

I’m currently listening to the audio book Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The book won the Pulitzer Prize for nonfiction. Wilder wrote so poetically about life on the frontier, but she experienced one financial disaster after another throughout her life.
Laura enjoyed good health for the most part, but her husband suffered a debilitating stroke when he was a young man recovering from diphtheria. He never completely regained his health. Her sister Mary certainly didn’t have the wonderful life portrayed in the tv series after she lost her sight. She went to a college for the blind, but returned home to live with her parents and was dependent on them and her other sisters for the rest of her life. Laura and Mary rarely saw each other after they became adults.
Laura’s father illegally squatted on Indian land at one point. On one occasion fled town in the middle of the night to avoid his creditors.
I think like most of us, when she looked back at her life, she tended to remember the good and forget the bad.

As an Oklahoma Sooner fan, I love Baker Mayfield and am a fan of whatever team he is playing for (and there have been a lot), so I was happy Tampa Bay won. Jalen Hurts was also a Sooner and I would never root against him, but I'm glad Baker Mayfield's team won.

I listened to two nonfiction audio books this week.
I listened to Enough by Cassidy Hutchison, an assistant to Mark Meadows, who served as Trump's White House Chief of Staff. Hutchison was born into a working class family and was the first in her family to graduate from college. After college, she went to work for the White House in the Office of Legislative Affairs and was hired by Meadows to be his top assistant when she was not even twenty five years' old. Her office was steps away from the Oval Office and she frequently flew on Air Force One when Trump was campaigning in 2020. She was at the White House on January 6th. She broke ranks with Trump's supporters when she testified before the House Committee investigating the events of January 6th. I thought the story was fascinating and I learned a lot about the inner workings of the White House and the Trump administration in particular.
I also listened to Endgame by Omid Scobie about the British Royal family. I thought it was pretty mediocre, although I'm probably prejudiced since Scobie is a big supporter of Harry and Meghan and I am not. I thought I would hear some tantalizing tidbits about the Royal Family, but I didn't hear anything I hadn't heard before. It was a good book to listen to while I was relearning to needlepoint, but I don't think I would have finished it otherwise.

I would never give money to someone to pay for medical bills. If someone is intensive care for even a few days any amount I donate won't make a dent in the amount owed, even if I donate $10,000. Plus, if I donate to an individual there is no accounting as to how they spend the money. If they buy a new couch six months later, I have no idea if they applied the money I gave them to their hospital bills or made a down payment on their new couch.
I would give money to a family whose loved one was in the hospital if I thought they needed it to pay for things like parking fees at the hospital, meals at the hospital cafeteria, etc. Families will have a lot of extra expenses when a loved one is in the hospital for an extended period of time and I am happy to help w/ those expenses.

A lot of the brides around here have their mother's dress wedding dress restyled into a short dress that they wear to the rehearsal dinner or the wedding reception. That's probably not helpful to you since you are on the groom's side of the family.
I love the idea of a christening gown. If they are not religious, you could always just have it made into a fancy dress or suit for a dressy occasion and/or a portrait.
If I were you, I might talk to the bride and tell her you want to do something special w/ the dresses and why You can share some of the ideas you have and ask for her input. You can ask her to help surprise your nephew w/ the gift. That way, you would be ensuring that the gift would be appreciated by both the bride and groom and you would bond w/ your future niece by sharing the surprise w/ her.

I'm not from the US and even I know that you don't pronounce the C. Maybe because I have been a Beatles fan all my life.... Jojo left his home in Tucson, Arizona For some California grassWhen I was a kid, I thought that Arkansas was pronounced ar-KAN-zus, and Yosemite was pronounced YOZE-might. Lol. But logically, if "Kansas" is pronounced "KAN-zus" then "Arkansas" should be just what you said... "ar-KAN-zus". But if you ever visit Arkansas City, Kansas be sure to pronounce it ar-KAN-zus city.

Have you googled to see if they have a wedding website? If so, there will be links to their registry and you can get them something you know they will love. A lot of couples now register honeymoon experiences such as a sunset cruise or drinks on the beach. Those are fun to give.
If they don’t have a registry, then I think a personalized charcuterie board would be a nice gift.

My husband and I have been preparing all week for the frigid temperatures expected this weekend and early next week in central Oklahoma. Our refrigerator is stocked, the outdoor faucets are covered, our indoor pipes are dripping, etc. We felt we were prepared for anything Mother Nature had in store for us.
We weren’t prepared, however, for the 10 earthquakes we experienced tonight. First, we had a 3.3 earthquake. That was soon followed by a 4.2 quake. Those quakes were followed by eight smaller quakes. Our house is very close to the epicenter so the 4.2 shook the entire house and really frightened me.
Anyway, I guess it’s a reminder that we can plan and prepare for things, but you never know what Mother Nature has in store for you.

I’ve been looking on Hopper for flights but will see if there are airlines that they don’t cover. Southwest is currently having a big sale. Southwest was not on Hopper when I used to use it. That might have changed.

As talented as Daniels and Penix are, I think Caleb Williams is a generational quarterback talent. As an Oklahoma fan, it pains me to say that, but I think it’s true.
